Bio: For less than a second there was a moment of silence, the world holding its breath, teetering on the brink of the unkown. She faltered, stopped, turned around...the hair on the back of her neck began to rise, as if scanning the darkness before and ahead of her...but the danger came from above. It struck down the side of the nearest building, raced along the ground, and had surrounded her before she could react. It dried the air, leaving her without water; her throat parched instantaneously as flames rose around her, roaring, bright in the night, and yet, in a place so dark they went unnoticed...she screamed. The heat licked at her bones, but she was still in a cold sweat. And then came the hand. Greedy, strong fingers darted from out of the flames to claim her chest as their own, groping and shoving without mercy. She should have screamed again, but another hand wrapped itself around her throat, crushing...she choked once or twice before the pain left her breathless, vision so blurred that it rendered her unable to see the man emerging from the inferno until his teeth were grinding her lips. She gasped in pain most painfully, and, perhaps with the intent to cause as much pain as painstakingly possible, he forced his tongue down her windpipe...
This was the night that Jake was conceived. Not out of love and passion, but Hellfire.

Close your eyes and try to remember that cheap toy you played with when you were little, that bobs whichever way you push it but always returns to its upright position. You can shove it, knock it down, punch it in the face or try to unbalance the base upon which it dances, but no matter what you do, it always rolls away and jumps back up, as if mocking you, or laughing at you in the process. Because of this your will becomes set; you’re going to knock it down. You’re going to. You try more often, you try harder, more frequently; however, you are no match for the inward workings that make the toy what it is, and eventually, you’re forced to give up. That toy is Chen. And Chen, near inseparably, is that toy. She’s had plenty of people try to get her goat, even for the sake of simply being able to say that they managed to get it, but nobody’s managed to get her down. She’s strong, confident, and completely happy with herself; perhaps a tad arrogant. She’s a deep thinker when she has to be, but most of the time it’s a wonder if she’s thinking at all. Chen is lazy and a bit bossy, but otherwise carefree, and a loyal friend if nothing else.

-Looks-
Chen is tall for her gender and age; perhaps around 5’ 11’’, and a sort of mix between stocky and lean. She isn’t overweight at all, but she isn’t the skinniest person you’ll ever meet, and she’s strong to match. She’s got hair spiked up in a Mohawk sort of style, though the spikes aren’t exaggerated, and it isn’t shaved. It just all angles up towards the top of her head, sort of like pine trees angled to the tip of a mountain, auburn in color. She’s got witty blue eyes, thin brows, and thin lashes, a rounded sort of nose, full, smiling lips, and tanned skin. Her hands are rather large, but she’s good at using them, when she does. Mostly for surfing tv channels.

Chen grew up the youngest of 4 siblings, all of them brothers, in a financially okay middle class family. She’s always had both of her parents, and a large family outside of the immediate. They were always pretty close. Chen did well in school for the most part, and her art got her a full-ride scholarship to college when she got older. In elementary school and middle school she was actually a very nervous, anxiety ridden young girl; immensely awkward, insecure…the sort to just stay to herself. But overtime she grew tired of that. She felt trapped. And so, come 11th grade up through the days she finished in college, she burst out of her cage, no inhibitions, locked herself outside and never looked back. Even if it meant losing her family. If this bothers her, she never lets it show. Now she lives in an apartment she managed to obtain, sharing it with her roommate, Gloria.

That and Gloria is the best friend she’s had in ages.

Gloria is the near opposite of her roommate. She’s quiet, studious, serious, sensitive; she’s a bit of a neat freak, and the apartment would most likely look like trash if she wasn’t. Preferring to keep busy, she works hard and tries her best to stay active, whether it be gardening, washing dishes, gaming, or reading anything from smut to fantasy to math textbooks. While not the most talkative at first, she’ll say whatever as needed once she gets to know a person, so long as it isn’t offensive, unless said person is Chen, in which case her nerves are about gone. Gloria is shy unless she has friends behind her, after which she blossoms, sort of like a flower in the sun. This seemingly work-obsessive geek has been to plenty of parties in her time, and she’s not at all as stuck up as she usually seems. All she needs is something to do.

Gloria Sanem is around 6’’ feet, an awkward tall for her personality rather than a graceful one. She’s lean and has a slim, athletic feminine figure, gained from routinely waking up at four in the morning to exercise until time to go off to school. She has shoulder-length blonde hair and amber eyes, slightly arched brows and eyelashes tinged with mascara. Gloria has small lips, a small, slender sort of nose and high cheekbones. She at least thinks her body is awkward, being so tall, which is why she exercises so much, but in reality it’s…pretty fine. She’s a healthy, beautiful girl, despite what she sees in herself.

~History~
Gloria is the first of her family to go to college, and she’s proud of herself for that fact. Happy she made her parents proud; they poured their everything into her as their only daughter; money, love, attention. Perhaps it got to the point where they were even overwhelming, hence her rather quiet disposition, but she loves them, and she loves making them happy. She went to the same high school as Chen and ended up going to the same college. When she learned that she was moving, she decided to move with her. There was nothing much left in California, and it was too dangerous to stay there.

They are very docile creatures, mainly lumbering around, eating, pooping, and shattering things in their awakened hours. Able to make only a few sounds, these hardy creatures punch each other for communication. Or at least, this is the description from Inky's imagination...
