A True Disaster Masked In Fog... Empty A True Disaster Masked In Fog...

Post by Masquerade Wed Dec 03, 2014 11:17 pm

In an isolated pocket in the Voidspace exists a city. Mana itself as an essence gave the city life and drew from the forms of the true Manaverse to create the people within it--an alternate mirror world coming forth as a result, breaking the boundaries of time and reality. The world that came to be, lands tied together by the Mist, was a failure. The people formed four factions and set to war with each other while an unknown fifth faction used the chaos to exact their plan--a plan to destroy all the other factions and assume true power of this world without a true purpose. The plan was a success, but it was...too successful. The creature they conjured was strong enough to wipe out the four other factions, and even the world, but it gave the fifth faction not the chance to recreate the world from the ashes, and as such, the world fell apart and crumbled back into Mana's lifestream. Unwilling to let this creation become a failure, Mana pulled the pieces of this fallen world from itself and recreated it, taking it back in time. The Recreation, as it became known, was with extreme fault as the people possessed knowledge from their past lives--just bits and pieces, but it was enough to draw together quite a few conclusions. The four factions now joined together in harmony in the city they would call Irysium. The city became a thriving success with the might of each faction's leaders ruling over the populace, and the Mist began stringing together the land once more, for in the beginning, the lands of the world were scattered. Mana had not sewn the world back together, but would let the Mist of the Voidspace do its work. Everyone rejoiced at their second chance, but nobody could determine a cause for their existence. Regardless of their unknown purpose, the people enjoyed their lives ignorant to the fact that the fifth faction was also reborn, not discriminated against by Mana. In the shadows, they seek to exact their plot once more...

The Four Factions:

The Holy Might - Led by Saint Nerra, the Holy Might consists of the most valiant of paladins, raising their swords and shields in the name of justice, backed by the most prodigious healers, scholars, and apothecaries drawing from the power of light to bolster their magics and medicines. Before the Recreation, the Holy Might's army was a force to be reckoned with. Consisting of a frontline entirely based on defense and a back lines filled with magical might and support, there was not a foe who could easily force back this group. Today, the paladins protect the Throne of Truth and the Academy of Radiance and are stationed at every entrance/exit of Irysium, and the healers offer aid to any injured citizen.

The Night Shroud- Led by a mysterious woman named Venase, the Night Shroud is steeped in as much mystery as its leader. Filled to the brim with assassins, shamans, and practitioners of dark and arcane magics, this is a faction that not many wish to cross. Even now after the Recreation, everyday relations with this faction remain at a bare minimum. Venase is the only faction leader to be seen frequently in the city amongst the commonfolk. When one needs help, she is the last person to go to, and her faction is the last to be addressed. The Mistress's Manor where she resides is isolated in the middle of Irysium's largest graveyard, even further discouraging people from entry or communication with the faction.

The Lion's Roar - Led by Edwin, the misplaced king of a long forgotten country, the Lion's Roar holds diplomacy and peace at its utmost. Courage is a great value for the fine lancers, blademasters, archers, and pugilists found in this faction, and not a single faction member will back down from a fight. Pride is great as long as it is not turned into a weakness. Being humble is something Edwin encourages in his faction, and he himself can be found in the training yards of The Den, honing his own skills despite being one of the strongest people in the world. Edwin is the faction leader that communicates the most with the Night Shroud, unafraid of the faction as a whole and more than willing to involve the faction in community activities and events.

The Height of Power - A motley faction led by a man who goes by the title, Knight of Knights, he created a faction based solely on amassing great power that could theoretically penetrate through any defenses. Before the Recreation, the Knight of Knights set sight on the Holy Might, finding the faction to be a great threat with its potential to lay siege to any location and resist enemy sieges with great ease. As such he gathered the most powerful of warriors, gladiators, and beserkers along with technologically savvy gunners, cannoneers, and sorcerers in preparation to annihilate the light-loving faction. His plans came to a grinding halt when the fifth faction unleashed their secret plan and he never got to find out if his efforts would have been enough to destroy the Holy Might. Now that the factions coexist in piece, he uses his faction members as scouts to go out into the Mist-connected lands to check on the settlements that came to form as a result of the world being brought back together, even if not completely. They roam the lands and kill savage monsters that threaten the peace of the populace using their unmatchable might.

The Fifth Faction:

The Abyssal Throes - An evil faction that exacted a tirade of catastrophes in order to resurrect the ultimate power of the Voidspace, a creature that could not be stopped by the mere means of mortals. Led by someone or even something calling itself "The Wicked", the sneaky men and creatures of the faction sowed chaos wherever they could before the Recreation, and even now afterwards their appearance causes great unrest with each of the factions. What could The Wicked be planning this time...?

So, you know who you're up against, but how are things going to progress? Who ARE you in this Recreated world and what is YOUR purpose? Well, numerous guilds that mirrored the factions formed amongst the commonfolk. They were a lot smaller than the main factions and actually brought together different faction members with no discrimination in order to join together to accomplish tasks, explore the wilderness, and solve the problems that arose with the citizens. You are a member of a guild known as the Heart of Mana. Your guildmaster has not been seen in ages, even before your application and admittance (which will be fairly recent to the beginning of the plot; in essence, you'll all be noobs or at least noob-ish.) A Lion's Roar faction member named Magnus Faircloth has become the interim guildmaster and is the source of most of your important missions. More mundane tasks are obtained from the Task Board. Completing tasks earns you Guild Experience, Faction Affinity, and of course items and money, while important missions earn you rare items, chances to bolster your own standing in the city, and much much more. You want your guild to grow and prosper with your aid, eventually becoming close with each of the factions. Only by growing close to the four factions and their leaders will you learn the story of what's going on and what you must do to protect Irysium from destruction. You will learn about the past, the wonders of this Voidspace land, the impending doom, and maybe even the Mana's purpose for this alternate world that has no impact on the Manaverse around it.

It is all in your hands. How about it? Will you step forth and prevent the second chance Irysium got from being all in vain? Or will this realm perish--crumble again as it did before and return to Mana's lifestream?

Okay with Zeri's interest, I'm going to make having two characters optional. For now, just send me the profile of the character you're definitely going to enter. If you have a backup just hold onto it. If you know you're only going to use one character, let me know when you send the profile.
