An Assassins Daughter Empty An Assassins Daughter

Post by Nightwish Wed Feb 03, 2010 3:01 pm

Well this is one of the first Fanfics I am posting here (And expect plenty more) and I highly expect criticism, advice and No comments. Though you may not know what to say I would ask that you please ask me or even PM me something I could work on. Now don't talk about the story line because it develops as I go. (I hope) Other then that I enjoy making Fanfics that others can read for personal enjoyment! Remember, I need all the help I can get in improving! Very Happy

Silence has a feel
Of darkness in velvet cloaked
As a desperate cry being choked
Phantasmic, yet real

My father was always gone when I was young. He always left without a sound. Even when he put on his coat or ate or even shut the door. He was very quiet. I always wished to know what his job was. I now know of that job. I am Elizabeth Dawn fifteen years of age and I am an assassin in the making. My Mother told me of my father’s job because of his recent death. He was an Assassin and worked for anyone who made a contract and paid well. Mother said she called him a mercenary but I know that she knew it was a serious job. To bad it got too serious. A local man with an M16 hidden in a suit case that was supposed to have 10 grand in it. It’s only a shame my father didn’t know that. Though this was after when the police told us and arrested my Mom for not turning in a serial killer on the loose.

I visited the station and asked how long the sentence was. My mother had the jail sentence for life without parole. I nodded calmly but felt my eyes burning up. The officer tried to hug me and tell me it was alright but I shrugged him off. He led me to my mother’s cell and we talked for a bit. She led up to the story of why she is in prison and why Dad died. I took it surprisingly well; it just made me think back to how he was so quiet. ‘The Ultimate Hide and Go Seek Master’ Mom and I would call him. I broke into tears at the thoughts. Dad was dead and Mom may as well have been too. She gave me a half hug through the cell and started to cry too. I guess the police man was nice and took pity on us. A fifteen year old girl losing her mother and her father. He took Mom out of her cell and led us to a small café in the jail. Guess it was for coffee breaks. The other officers had no problem with Mom being out of her cell. They moved over for Mom and me but we preferred to stand. The officers were nice when you go to know them; I guess they were just doing their job.

As we talked with the officers Mom whispered small sentences into my ear that made no sense. I remembered them in case they might mean something. The officer said it was getting late and told me that I had to go and I could visit Mom as much as I wanted. She asked if I would be alright in the house all by myself. I had to smile at her motherly nature. She may be the wife of an assassin but it didn’t mean she lost her heart. I told her I would my voice cracking. I had a fear of the dark. Mom gave a concerned glance but nodded. As the officer led Mom away another came up to me and told me that if it was okay with me he would check in every once in awhile. Not thinking I agreed and headed home.

It was about nine o’ clock when I got home. It was only a one hour walk but of course everyone stopped me and gave me pity. I declined every one of their offers for food or a place to stay or even their dog to watch the house. When I got home the house was dark and I mean dark. Not even the dark purple sky lit up the house. I at once began starting to hum a pleasantly annoying song. I flicked the light switch, nothing. I cleared my throat. Did Mom forget to pay the power bill? I continued up the stairs humming what Luigi hummed from that Mansion game he starred in. I began to sweat a little. I whipped my head around thinking I heard a noise. Nothing. I started to pant a little. I grabbed a flashlight. No batteries. I was breaking into tears. Suddenly I DID hear something. A drawer shut. I clamped my hands to my mouth. I hid behind my couch and heard a slight curse. ‘Robbers, that’s all they are.’ I had to say to myself. Suddenly… Nothing. ‘Maybe he left through the window?’ I agreed with myself and got up and slowly climbed the stairs remembering a stepping technique Dad taught me.

“Now Eliza.” He always called me that instead of Elizabeth. “If ever you need to be quiet don’t shuffle your feet don’t breath through your mouth. Bend your knees slightly and move and carry your feet as if you’re skating and breath through your nose slowly. It may seem like your low on oxygen but it is only because you are taking sips and your body is used to gulps. Got it?” I said to myself after the thought ‘I do now Dad. Thanks.’ I bent my knees a little and breathed through my nose slowly and climbed the stairs. Within ten seconds I felt like I was dying but staying alive. He was right, my body isn’t used to this little oxygen but I am not even passing out.

Eventually when I got to the top of the stairs and opened the door to my room I found a man looking through my drawers. He was dressed in black. Not like a ninja but like someone who is looking shady. He obviously didn’t notice me there and was to busy searching. I pulled out my knife from my pocket. Mom passed me this in the café as if she was expecting this to happen. It opened with a click. ‘Shit!’ was all I could think. He looked up in alarm and jumped at me with a small dagger. ‘Is my knife a Swiss army knife?!’ Was all I was thinking. I never got the chance to look. I flung it up in a flash to block the incoming weapon. Another thought from dad when we played outside.

“Wow Eliza you are getting stronger with that stick! Ha ha ha. Let me teach you a trick Hun. See how you are thrusting against me? If I do this…” He took all the force off his stick and jumped back making me fall and with speed put the stick to my neck. “You are dead!” He laughed. I blinked coming back to reality. How long has he been training me? I did exactly what he taught me. Put some force to it to make it look like I was fighting back. The man stepped back a little. He was fairly weak. He pushed with all his strength back at me. ‘Now!’ My mind screamed. I pulled back and jumped back at once. Taking the man by surprise he fell and his dagger struck into the ground. I could finish him off now. I could. The man tried to kill me for all I knew he was the man that killed Dad! I pointed my knife at his neck hesitantly.

He grinned at me and challenged me with a, “Do it daughter of the Great Assassin!” I couldn’t kill a man. What if I couldn’t get rid of the body? I could lie. No. I took my knife away from his throat and put it away. “Smart choice little girl.” With a quick motion I took his knife and threw it away from him. He stood up and brushed himself off. “Well Miss Elizabeth, seems as your father has taught you much.” I blinked at the man. “I am believe it or not, a good friend of your father…” He said his voice cracking a bit. I got the nerve to ask, “You knew my father?” He sighed. “I did.” For some reasons the words “I did.” Hit me a lot harder then I thought. I don’t really know but I think I was hoping for an “I do.” He saw my eyes start to swell even through my dim night light. He looked uncomfortable and did all he knew how. A hug. I knew at that second that he knew my father. He acted like him, was uncomfortable when people were sad and didn’t know what to do when someone was hurt or crying. I gave a half hug back. The only reason was because he almost felt like my Dad.

I squeezed him a bit and he restrained noticing what he was doing. He cleared his throat again. He looked like his tears were wet do but didn’t do anything and said,
“Well then Miss Elizabeth. Two reasons I am here. One to look for a sacred weapon that I am supposed to hold for your family now that the man of the house is gone and two.” He stopped there. He muttered something about I am way too young. “Two.” He tried to start again. He licked his lips. “Two, by behalf of the Assassins guild we would like to invite you into our guild.”
