Sar'tu is a vast country composed of two separate landmasses. These landmasses are split by a wide strip of water called the Ocean's River. This river splits the nation into North and South, and that border has seemingly been the cause of Sar'tu's intense history of civil war. There has not passed a century where a rebellion has not broken out in this savage country. The two kings of Sar'tu come from the same line of blood, and both lines have the right to rule, but the dispute between which ruler is dominant over the other has never settled.

Historians claim that Sar'tu was once governed by a single king. This king had two sons, twins at birth. At the time that the king had to step down, the issue of who would inherit his throne arose. With two sons vying for the throne, the old king made a decision to split Sar'tu into two provinces: North and South. Some documents claim that the king was the one who created the Ocean's River in the center of the once-whole mass of land.

When the king died, his sons wasted no time in fighting over the right to rule. No king should have to share his country with another ruler, even if that ruler was his brother. War ensued, and neither side was left untouched by the blood that was spilled. One brother won the war, and the other brother was locked away for the remainder of his life, but not before siring a son, who would soon rally Sar'tu to war again against the first brother's son. And so Sar'tu repeated history over and over again, each war more bloody than the last.

Now, in this century, a scientific breakthrough created the world's very first flying contraption. It marked the beginning of a new era, where the skies would be filled with machines and floating cities. It also marked the beginning of a new civil war. The cause? An execution of a known and incredibly dangerous criminal going very, very wrong.

~

Caroline moved through the crowded streets at a brisk pace, sliding past men and women alike, shouted obscenities filling her ears and giving her a headache. It was just like North Sar'tu to make a big deal about a criminal's execution like this. Caroline did not much care about the execution, but it was good that her guild's work was finally being appreciated. Tracking down this particular criminal from the South turned out to be one of the hardest jobs she had ever tackled. If it wasn't for her friends and the guild, she would have never been able to do it.

Caroline Maier was a bounty hunter belonging to one of the less-renowned guilds in North Sar'tu. The specific purpose of the guild is to accept jobs from the capital. Exterminate these vermin, provide a guard for supplies, file paperwork, and the like. It was very rare that the guild received actual bounty requests, which made this single request all the stranger. The woman accused wasn't even to stand trial for her attempted assassination of the crown. Instead, the King sent out requests to all the guilds, including Caroline's ragtag group of under-payed, under-appreciated loyalists, to track down and capture this criminal.

Caroline brushed a bit of her blond curls away from her bright blue eyes, trying to get as good a look as she could at the stage. Her goggles sat idly on her helmet, there was no need for them at the moment. She wore a sleek, green bodysuit that left only her thighs bare. On her back was a chunk of metal, strapped to her suit. It was inactive for now, but with the single click of a button, it could turn into her only means of getting out of this crowd.

Caroline found herself in front of the crowd now, having been pushed there by the tide of people moving about. She found herself face-to-face once again with that criminal that nearly killed her king. The assassin had the look of a southerner on her that Caroline had come to hate and fear. Her skin was caked with dirt and dried blood. Her normally red hair had turned an ugly brown color from weeks of negligence and abuse. Violet eyes glared at anything that approached, but when they found Caroline, those eyes seemed to smile.

"How nice of you to come to my execution," the woman whispered in a voice no one could hear. Caroline long ago learned how to read lips, it was a talent that was absolutely necessary in her line of work. Caroline did not respond to the assassin with words, she only furrowed her brow and frowned. This woman would get what she deserved, and Caroline would observe, though not with pleasure. This was a necessity, the law must be observed, the crown must be protected. That was what Caroline believed. What she wanted to believe.

What a land Sar'tu turned out to be...or at least what portion of it he had traveled.  Such a rich history of bloodshed, one that could sadden even the happiest and most optimistic of souls.  To know that such violence had been going on for such a long time...it was in immense burden on someone with the power to traverse time.  Such a person now found himself in a very unpredictable situation.  Aaron Cadence used to be a normal lad, but through an encounter of the most unlikely kind, he gained the ability to travel through time and space--a power gained from a dream.  It was a power he could not control.  One accidental use had sent him spiraling into another world and in an unpredicted time period.  He was lucky that his garb wasn't too outlandish compared to the chosen garments of the denizens of this realm, for it was possible he would be called out on it, but he kept himself low key for the most part, visiting libraries and performing odd jobs for poorer citizens to learn more about the realm and earn some of the native coin.  It wasn't too difficult to adapt to his new surroundings.  He learned of the two kingdoms that were meant to be one, linked by blood but divided by pride and a thirst for absolute power.  He learned of the various guilds present in the realm that performed duties for the citizens that varied from small tasks to frightening bounties on criminals and dangerous monsters.  Most recently, he learned of the capturing of a particularly dangerous criminal that came from the South.  He knew that the North and South had always been at odds, but to think that someone could come so close to assassinating the king of the North--it was unreal.

Era, as Aaron so deigned to call himself as a play on his abilities, found himself lying in bed at the inn he had been staying at recently, one that was not the most illustrious that there were.  There was the single bed, a small table with a lamp, and a large chest, but that was about it.  It was almost sad to come back to it day after day.  He promised himself that once he earned enough money he would upgrade to something else, but for now this was where he was stuck.  He gazed at the ceiling pondering the execution.  "It was today, wasn't it?" he muttered to himself intently.  "Funny how much I've gotten caught up in this realm.  Not even concerned about getting back home..."  His voice trailed off as he grunted and swung his legs over the side of the bed, sitting up.  He slipped on his Converses and trudged to the table where he had crammed his green backpack right up next to the lamp.  Slinging it over his shoulder, he made his way out of the room, closing the door and locking it behind him.  He wasn't sure how thrilled he'd be to see an execution but he was curious about this criminal.

It was easy enough to find the execution site.  There was a large crowd there, and a loud one at that.  Their collective ire was almost palpable which was understandable given the extent of this woman's crimes.  How much more blood was already on her hands?  Surely she had murdered countless before being caught, but murdering a king would give her such infamy.  It was almost a shame that she failed.  Era moved his way through the crowd, the people too caught up in their anger to even notice him shoving them and jostling them out of the way.  He gazed concernedly upon them; it wasn't healthy to be this roused in madness--it led people to doing drastic things.  Feeling uneasy all of a sudden, he quickened his pace until he was at the front of the crowd, standing next to a young woman in an odd green bodysuit that definitely caught his eye--he liked the color.  Curious blue eyes scrutinized the woman from behind his glasses, the lenses possessing a very faint light green gradient.  He tried to nonchalantly smooth the wrinkles out of his buttoned up black shirt, but it was to no avail.  He didn't know why he was nitpicking his appearance all of a sudden but he internally scolded himself for such childish antics.  It wasn't as if people were going to notice him.  They were focused on what rested practically right before his form--the assassin.

Now she was a sight to see.  Grimy and caked with dirt and blood.  He would have thought her in need of a shower, but death awaited her now so it was pointless.  Her body would be showered in the dirt that filled her grave, and her soul would be forever tormented by whatever vile being governed this realm's Underworld.  He managed to pry his gaze from the assassin and redirected it towards the blond standing next to him.  "You look pretty perturbed," Era remarked casually, waving a hand loosely in the air next to him.  "Everything all right?"

Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars Empty Re: Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars

Caroline noticed the young man approach the front of the crowd before he spoke to her. He was difficult not to notice in this crowd of gear-heads and dirt-covered hands. He was too clean, too...normal-looking to be a true part of this crowd. He stood out more than a crooked nail. Just what was he wearing anyway? Caroline had never seen such clothing before in her life. Did some clothier make them specifically for him? Either way, those clothes were not suited for the open skies. He'd be blown away before he could get two feet on the ground.

"Perturbed? I suppose I would be when I'm face-to-face with a cold-blooded murderer who nearly killed my king," Caroline responded, a little more aggressive than she meant to sound. She wasn't blaming the guy for anything, but she'd figure he'd know what was going around if he was here. She nodded towards the assassin held up only by chains. "This bitch was tough to catch, I'll tell you that much."

"So nice of you to sing my praises," the assassin spoke. She could hear them, apparently, despite the volume of the crowd. Caroline scowled, but didn't deign to look upon that hated face. She didn't much like being addressed by a murderer.

Suddenly, a silence came over the crowd like a wave. The sea of people parted as a large individual strut through the mass of bodies. His form was rippling with bulging muscles, and he carried the very well-known executioner's blade. The ax hung over his shoulder, the blood red blade gleaming in the hot sun. The bear of a man stopped just before the criminal and let down his ax, causing the earth to crack and shake beneath its weight.

"Veronica Salwoth," a very small voice came from the large man, or so it seemed until the much smaller, mousy-looking man emerged from behind the huge executioner. He pulled out a large script of paper that was bigger than his torso and was reading from it. "You are accused of crimes against the crown, and the King has commanded for you to be formally executed. May you never find peace in the eternal torture that awaits you in the Underworld."

"Not even going to let me say my last words, eh?" Veronica Salwoth spread a cocky grin across her face. She seemed surprisingly calm for one about to have her head removed. "Fine then, I'll give them anyway."

"Be quiet if you know what's good for you, wench." The headsman approached, his voice deep and strangled, as if all his muscles made it hard for him to breathe. He hefted the huge ax up with little effort, the enormous blade glinting.

"It'll be quick, I promise. It's just a single word, after all." Veronica Salwoth's eyes flickered over to where Caroline was, and she gave the bounty hunter an evil smile. "Surprise."

At the sound of that one word, Caroline's field of vision changed drastically. She blacked out first, and when her sight returned a moment later, she found herself looking directly at a huge mass of muscle. Confused, she tried to move back, away from the mass of muscle so she could see, but she wasn't able to move. She turned her head and found herself hanging from very familiar chains...and then it dawned on her. Caroline began to panic, twisting and turning in her chains, but unable to move. Her body felt lighter, but she couldn't move a single finger.

Then she saw the ax. Her wits left her, and she let out a terrible scream. In the corner of her eye, she saw herself smiling back at her. A single tap of a button, and the contraption released itself, rotating wings lifting her body up off the ground. With a single wave, Caroline's body disappeared, with Veronica Salwoth's soul, leaving Caroline's soul in Veronica's body. And the headsman's ax was starting to fall.

Caroline looked to the man she had only just met and screamed for help, hoping with every fiber of being that he could see what had happened. And she screamed in a voice that was not hers.

Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars Empty Re: Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars

A bitter response, but it only confirmed Era's suspicions. There was something between this woman and the assassin. A member of the guild who was responsible for her actual capture? Now that was a thought to entertain, but his train of thoughts was broken by not noise, but a sudden silence. The crowd had fallen deathly quiet and the ground shook as a giant's weapon smashed against the earth. From behind him emerged a much smaller figure reading from a scroll. This was it. They were going to end the assassin's life right here and now. Would there be blood and gore everywhere? Perhaps a front row spot wasn't the brightest of ideas. His sharp eyes darted to the assassin who was intent on having her last words, but why? Was it that important? What he witnessed next threw him for a complete loop. The sinister and arrogant look upon her face as she muttered her final word changed suddenly to that of utter fear and confusion. There was something wrong. His frantic gaze shifted back to the blonde girl he had been speaking to only to see her now malevolent expression disappearing from sight as she flew away into the sky via some contraption that one might see in a cartoon or something. Could she have...?

There was no time to think. He had to act now and ask questions later--it may very well wind up with him saving an innocent life. Waving his hand through the air, a fairly large golden blade decorated with gears that could be found in a clock appeared, though the gold was in sorry shape from lack of care which was something Era greatly regretted but it could not be helped. The blade was immune to his powers for some reason so he couldn't revert it back to its original form but it served him well enough. The air around him began to waver and in a flash his blade was against one of the chains holding the now supposed assassin. Like gears, he began to grind the force of time around him, his blade starting to glow slightly and steam beginning to jet out from the point where it was connected with the chain. With a slight shout he managed to slice right through the chain, the timespace around him now moving at a much quicker pace than the surrounding timespace. His blade put a rapid end to the rest of the chains, and in a moment his blade was gone and the assassin was in his arms. He knew his speed wouldn't last him forever. He watched as extremely slowly, expressions of surprise and disdain appeared on the crowd but he was much too fast for them to do anything about it. Sighing, he dashed away from the execution area, trying to take one of the back streets, and making as many quick turns and unpredictable movements so that they couldn't track where he was going. And it was at that moment that he had no idea where to go. He had just allegedly helped an extremely wanted criminal escape. For the moment, he was just as much a traitor to the crown as Veronica, but he knew for a fact that the woman in his arms was no longer Veronica.

"I know you aren't who you look like," Era managed to say as he continued running along determinedly. "Where should I go from here? I rescued you, but now it's your turn to help me out. I mean all we have is each other right now because we're both wanted, as much as I hate to admit."

Caroline could not help but feel relieved that the man whom she had only just met cut her chains. She hadn't even made such a great first impression on him either, but she was glad to see that did not stop him from saving her. This man was more intelligent than she originally gave him credit for. Caroline was glad, then, that she had met this man whose name she did not know. The crowd was certainly displeased, and she could already hear the militia men beginning to mobilize. Soon every guild in Sar'tu would be after them. That was a prospect that Caroline did not like to entertain.

"Put me down first...please. I can walk on my own," Caroline spoke in a voice that did not belong to her. Her throat felt dry, and she felt sore everywhere on her body. One step later and a shock of pain ran through her, "On second thought, never mind." She couldn't deal with how much it hurt. Just what did the jailers do to this woman? Beaten and raped barely described half of it, or so Caroline felt.

"We need to get out of the city," Caroline started, still very perturbed by the voice she spoke with. "My guild is on the outskirts, if we head there, we might be able to convince my friends that I'm not Veronica. Go left here. Keep to the alleys, we don't want to expose ourselves." Caroline paused for a moment, her heart sinking a little. "I am so sorry. I barely even know you, and I've already ruined any hope you have at living in Sar'tu. Once we get to the guild, I'll try to find you a ship to Ermith. You'll be safe from the king's men there. You're a good person, and I'd hate to see anything bad happen to you because of me.

"I'm Caroline, by the way. Caroline Maier. Well, at least before my body was stolen. I guess I'm Veronica now." Caroline frowned and furrowed her brow. How did that woman even steal her body like that anyway? And she didn't just steal her body, she completely exchanged her's and Caroline's. Caroline had never heard of such a magic before. Maybe her savior had some idea. Caroline looked up at him curiously with violet eyes that did not belong to her.

Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars Empty Re: Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars

Era's previous suspicions were confirmed. This woman was most likely from the guild that captured Veronica in the first place hence the connection there. A smaller guild would might not have heard about what happened in the center of the city practically if he were fast enough. He entertained the woman's desire to walk on her own, but that proved to be too much for her. He practically jogged in place waiting for her to see that and scooped her back up when she so desired. It was off they were again. Having such power over time, he was able to keep this speeding timespace flowing, but he was running out of time. He put all he had into running, taking the left that he was told to take and keeping to the alleys as the woman had mentioned because the last thing they needed was to be caught before they even managed to escape the city. That was when all hope would truly be lost.

"Hey, forget about it," Era spoke nonchalantly as if this whole ordeal were no big deal to him but on the inside his heart was pounding, not just from the physical activity but from the fear of being captured. He would be beheaded in a heartbeat, but surely not before being imprisoned and having god knows what being done to him. It was something he'd rather not think about, not to mention he couldn't be worrying the lady over matters like that. "I don't think I'll be leaving your side until we can get these matters resolved. If no one believes you, who then will remain to know the truth? We are in this together. Once a connection is made, it is hard to completely erase it. Just like I know we will run into the real Veronica again, and perhaps with that encounter, get a chance get your real body back." He kept his eyes focused on the alleyways, keeping them peeled for armed figures intent on stopping him, but he was now growing close to the edge of the city, for the surrounding wilderness could be seen in the near distance. His final burst of speed carried them to the road where the buildings were beginning to thin, growing more spaced apart. The outskirts. The guild would be around here somewhere...

"The name's Aaron Cadence, but due to the nature of my power, I've come to calling myself Era. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Caroline," he said formally, coming to a stop as his magic finally wore off, the timespace returning to normal. He had left the militia in the dust for sure, but they were still on a tight schedule. "So where might that guild of yours be? Somewhere in this vicinity correct?"

Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars Empty Re: Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars

Post by Zerifachias Fri Sep 19, 2014 11:25 pm

So that was it then. Caroline certainly was not in the mood to argue with him if he did not want to leave her in this condition. She wasn't even sure that she could get her original body back. She may end up stuck in the one she had for the rest of her life. That would not be good. How would she ever be able to work for the guild if she couldn't even show her face in public? If that was the case, it might have been better for her to die at the headsman's ax, if at least to spare this man's infamy.

"I hope you're right," Caroline said meekly. She did not hold high hopes for her situation. But if switching bodies was possible in the first place, then surely the reverse was also possible. She would need to find her body first though, and that might prove a bit more difficult. Or so she thought anyway. They had hit the outskirts now, and Caroline would be able to find her guildmates soon.

Just as the man finally gave his name, Caroline heard a very familiar sound. It had to be her flight machine, there was none other like it. Her head snapped up towards the sound, searching the skies for the source. She found it, and gasped suddenly, grabbing Era's head and forcing him down on top of her. They fell, and a beam of heat barely missed the two of them, disintegrating the dirt just inches away.

Caroline moaned in pain, her chest aching where Era had fallen. It was her own fault, of course, but the pain certainly wasn't welcome. "Sorry, are you okay?" Caroline murmured, not really aware of the position she was in. It wasn't her body anyway.

"Well, look at what I found! Two little rats running away from the headsman. See guys, what did I tell you?" Caroline's voice filled the air, but she knew it was not her who spoke. Veronica Salwoth landed on the ground easily in Caroline's body, as if she had been born with the flying machine attached to her. Next to her approached two others who were very familiar to Caroline.

"Jens! Anna!" Caroline called out, almost relieved to see the two of them. The first one, Jens, was an interesting man who always wore a black and white suit, formal attire for most nobles. But he was far from being any kind of noble birth. He wore a golden pistol by his right breast and huge, mechanical goggles on his head. His brown hair shifted easily in the wind, and those green eyes gleamed with untold knowledge. The second one, Anna, was a much smaller girl than Caroline, though they had a similar facial structure. Anna had her hair dyed the same green as Caroline's suit, she liked the color, and she too wore a suit similar to Caroline's, though hers was a full-body suit. A telescope hung on her belt, she never went anywhere without that little lens.

"How does this assassin know our names?" Jens asked, frowning at Veronica. His gaze was exceptionally skeptical, as it always was. He was never a person to believe what he saw at first glance. Though he usually trusted Caroline without question, it appeared he had a few questions now.

"I don't remember ever seeing this woman in my life," Anna added with a shrug. She furrowed her brow at Caroline.

"We're a part of a guild, there's always a way to find some documents or something," Veronica did not seem to understand how skeptical Jens was, but Anna had always been more gullible. Even still, Anna didn't seem to buy it. There was definitely something strange going on here, or so she thought. How did Veronica even know where Caroline was in the first place? "C'mon, let's kill her and collect our reward."

"We have to convince Jens and Anna that I'm the real Caroline somehow," Caroline told Era. "I can't help you fight, but please just don't hurt Anna. I couldn't bear seeing her hurt."

"Anna! Please listen, that isn't me in that body!" Caroline called to her sister, pointing at the body Veronica was currently occupying. "You have to believe me! Haven't you noticed how strange I've...I mean she's been acting? You know me! You know I wouldn't kill anyone no matter how bad of a criminal they were!" Anna did not respond, and that worried Caroline. There was nothing else she could do her other than try to convince her guildmates.

"That bitch Veronica pulled some strange magic I've never seen before. She made us switch bodies. Please believe me!"

Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars Empty Re: Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars

Post by Masquerade Sun Sep 21, 2014 10:57 pm

Era had been waiting on some sort of response from Caroline but instead found himself growing closer and closer to the ground from Caroline pulling on him suddenly causing him to trip and fall. It wasn't long before he realized the reason behind her madness for a large laser blast had disintegrated the dirt where they had previously been standing. "I'm fine," Era responded gently in response. He was more than fine seeing as how he'd be pretty dead or close to it if hit by that laser. Redirecting his gaze, he discovered Caroline's body which he now knew to possess Veronica the assassin's soul. It seemed that he was right about them crossing paths again, but he had no idea that it would be this soon. Then again, getting rid of the only evidence of the truth behind what had happened as soon as possible was a grand move, and it seemed as though the crafty assassin now had help in what came to be revealed as Caroline's fellow guildmates. Both appeared rather skeptical regarding the situation. He had to help Caroline somehow.

Era placed his sword on the ground and crossed his arms. The blade was only a means to an end when it came to fighting; if he truly deigned to escape, his powers were his ace in the hole. But he had to make sure things were resolved right here and now. "She's telling the truth. The woman who stands beside you now is the real assassin utilizing a body-switching magic the likes of which have not been seen before," he stated, readjusting his glasses and focusing in on the rather formal-looking gentleman. "I may not have known Caroline for very long, but I know her well enough not to be a bloodthirsty killer no matter what this supposed assassin has done or nearly did! How well do you know your Caroline if you choose to distrust the true one now?!"

Era reasons with Jens and Anna!

Caroline gets some EN back.

Enemy Phase

"That's quite the nonsensical explanation." Jens was less than impressed, but he could not help but feel like what the stranger was saying was right. Some instinct told him there was something wrong about this whole scene. How did Caroline...or whoever was in her body, know where these two would be? And why did they come here, of all places they could have ended up? This was so close to guild headquarters...nothing was adding up right. Jens looked to Anna, Caroline's sister. If anyone could distinguish the two, it would be her.

"What's this? There is no magic that make people switch bodies, that's impossible," Veronica spat and gave a slightly amused grin.

"It is possible," little Anna spoke up, though her voice was quiet. "I always used to tell Caroline that anything is possible with magic. So, person in Caroline's body, let me ask you something that only Caroline would know. Which of us does Jens have a crush on?"

"This is foolishness," Veronica scowled, but she didn't have much of a choice but to answer. "Fine. It's me, isn't it?"

Anna didn't say anything. She turned her gaze towards where Caroline lay in Veronica's body and smiled. "Welcome home, big sister. Jens, do you mind?"

"Not at all." Jens took out his golden gun and pointed it right at Veronica's head. "You'll be leaving that body now, Veronica."

"What?" Veronica raised an eyebrow, then began to laugh. "I don't think you all understand the position you're in. I'M the one in control here. Remember, if you shoot this body, it's her that will die, not me. So come on, shoot, I dare you." Veronica pulled out her own weapon, Caroline's laser rifle, and pointed it at Jens.

"Anna!" Caroline breathed out in relief. She couldn't smile yet, but she was glad that her sister was able to recognize her so easily. But there was still a major problem of the body swap deal. Even if what Veronica said about their bodies' conditions, there was no way they could risk the danger. Jens did not particularly care for hitting girls, so the only one who could really fight was...

Caroline looked up at the man who had saved her life. Era stood with his arms crossed and his sword dug into the dirt. She had never seen a blade like that before. It was so odd, with all of the gears on it. She took a deep breath, knowing that she would regret saying what she had to say. "You have my permission to beat my body over there senseless. Maybe if we knock her out, the spell will fail. Anna will support you, so you have nothing to worry about."

Era grabbed his blade out of the dirt and swung it a few times through the air. So they were sensible after all. This was pleasing. How in the world could they believe the assassin's lies? There was the dilemma of having to rough up Caroline's actual body which he wasn't particularly apt to do, but there wasn't much choice. In its current state, there was no way that Veronica's soul would be relinquishing it. "If there's no other choice, then I'll have to do it," Era affirmed, pausing briefly as if he were frozen in time. However, a shadow was cast down on the battlefield as he descended with a downward slash upon Caroline's body, an image left behind in his wake that still appeared to be paused--frozen in time.

Era uses Lag Time on Veronica! 7 Dmg! (ATK) [Era lands in D4][Lag Clone is left behind in G4]

EN: 40/50

Era brought his blade back into a defensive stance after the violent slashed and quickly peered over his shoulder to check to see if the afterimage remained and it did, but he would have to get out of the way quickly so that it could follow up without any interruptions. Using his time magic, he could create a lagged clone of himself that repeated all of his actions as long as it didn't ran into any interference. It was a tricky magic, one that he was still trying to get a decent handle on. There were a few more magics to gain hold of to make things easier for the him and the lag clone, but now wasn't the time to theorize. For now he just meant to incapacitate Caroline's body as quickly as he could so that her soul could reclaim it.

Era waits.

"You're gonna regret that one," Veronica snarled, twisting Caroline's face in a way the the real Caroline didn't think was possible. She didn't know how ugly her face could become, and hated Veronica for showing everyone that kind of face. It disgusted her.

"Don't worry, friend-of-my-sister," Anna spoke up, taking out her small, handheld telescope and pointing it at his general direction. "I can take care of that wound. Here, look into my lens. See Pisces? That is the sign of the caretaker. Let the magic soothe you and heal your injury." Through the tiny lens, the stars shone, though the sky was as bright as it would ever be. The magic from the telescope could be felt, and a sudden wash of relief came over Era as the singed hole magically closed, leaving not a single trace.

"Anna, you should back away from that woman, she's far too dangerous." Jens spoke, but he did not follow his own advice to back away from Veronica. He wanted to make sure that she wasn't going to go anywhere. Though he could not bring himself to shoot the woman, as she remained in Caroline's body. It was up to the stranger to finish this one off alone, save for Anna's help. The younger sister was strong in supportive magic, as the stranger would surely notice.

"Jens, I think you're the one who should back away!" Caroline called. Anna was strong, she could manage herself. Jens was of a different personality. If Veronica were to turn on him, he would be unable to do anything back to her. He hated fighting women, that was his biggest weakness whenever the job called for it. With Caroline's body being controlled by their target, he was more or less useless. Still, even with her warning, Jens stood his ground. That, at least, took some courage.

Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars Empty Re: Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars

Post by Masquerade Thu Sep 25, 2014 11:11 pm

The burn of the laser was definitely something he regretted for sure, but Era was already braced for taking some damage as he would be her primary target seeing as how the others didn't seem to be taking a more active role in combat. It wasn't until the other girl, Anna, pointed her interesting telescope at him and somehow magically alleviated him of his newly obtained wound did he realize that she was definitely more on the supporting side. An interesting power it was that she held, but it wasn't something to mull over in the heat of battle. Veronica had already managed to screw up by holding her ground. She had nothing to prove so why she felt so bold as to keep in place, he could never know, but if anyone was about to regret anything, it would be her regretting escaping and stealing that body in particular especially while he was around. Her crimes were unforgivable.

Era moves to C6.

Era dashed to the side away from Veronica, and as he lined himself up with her, he dashed forward with astonishing speed, his blade pressed against her body. The gears on the blade began to spin rapidly as the force of time at the point of contact was amplified causing the air to waver and distort. In an instant, Era disappeared, skidding to a halt in a cloud of dust next to Anna, a mighty time-empowered slash having been dealt to the imposter in Caroline's body. The time in his airspace was enhanced once more and he could feel himself moving faster than ever. This was the edge he needed to put an end to this. What was more was that he eyed his clone to see it leap into the air and descend, dealing the same attack he had dealt just a minute or so ago.

"Thank you for the aid," Era said and gave Anna a courteous smile. "We're going to get Caroline's soul back in the right body; there's no doubt about it."

Caroline gets some EN back.

Caroline's body consumes some EN to restore HP.

Era gains Haste and deals damage to Veronica (4 DMG)

The clone suddenly jumps forward and attacks Veronica! (3 DMG)

Enemy Phase

"Ow! Shit." Veronica cursed, wincing as both blows hit her. She definitely seemed to be feeling the attacks that Era was doling out. Whether or not her body would switch back to her own once she was knocked out wasn't a sure deal, but there really was no other choice. Veronica did not want that clone to hit her again, so she moved out of the way and positioned herself right in line of sight of Era and Anna.

Veronica moves to D-2

"Alright you little whores, get a load of this!"
Veronica aimed her weapon, Caroline's weapon, directly at Era and began charging it. When the gun was ready, she fired a piercing laser that went right through Era and hit Anna as well. Veronica grinned when she heard Anna's yelp of pain.

Jens flinched a little bit. He wasn't even hit by the laser and it hurt him. It hurt him to see Anna hurt. He wanted to rush to her side, but knowing that Caroline's body was under the control of a known and wanted murderer made him stop. He was not afraid, but he could not fire upon her. He was as good as useless in this situation.

"Eeep!" Anna yelped, flinching as the laser burned right through her arm. She was barely hit by it, but it still hurt like hell. She had to focus though, it looked as though Era was about to hit critical mass, his speed was undeniable, and Veronica was right there in front of him. She ought to help him out again. "Friend-of-my-sister, look into my lens. Can you see it? The stars that make up Capricorn. He's a hard worker, never taking shortcuts and always getting the job done right. Let him lend you a little strength." Anna smiled as her magic began to work.

Anna casts Capricorn: The Worker on Era! Boosts Atk to 8! (40% Increase)

"You bitch!" Caroline shouted from where she lay, her eyes glowing with fury when she saw Anna get hit by her own weapon. Seeing Anna get hurt by her own weapon, by her own body, made her almost gag. It was disgusting to see someone else walk around in her body. "Get the fuck out of my body!"

Era moves to D1.

Era attacks Veronica!  2 hits!  8 Dmg per hit! (ATK)

The lasers may have been rather painful but Era was plenty capable of doling out pain of his own.  Using the distortion of time around him, he unleashed two quick slashes on Caroline's body, hoping with each slice that one of his attacks would purge the wicked soul of Veronica from it.  Unfortunately, she was dodging his clone; he had to fix that somehow, but for now he would just let it do its thing and focus on making sure his own attacks were effective.  "The power...your magic is very potent, young lady," Era said politely to Anna.  She was quite the capable helper and thankful that she was reasonable enough to see past Veronica's trickery.

Lag Clone moves to C6.

Lag Clone uses Rush Hour on E4! [Lag Clone winds up at C2][Lag Clone gains Haste]

The clone followed Era's general actions from before, dashing forth only hitting nothing since Veronica had long since moved out of the way.  Fortunately, the same distortion in time surrounded it allowing it to move faster and unleash more attacks in a short time.

Caroline gets some EN back.

Veronica takes 8 DMG (Era) [10 DMG -2 from Lyra's Ballad Shield]

Era's Haste will last 2 more turns.

Era's clone whiffs completely, but still gains Haste.

Enemy Phase

Veronica flinched, wincing at the fast blows that she was taking from Era. This wasn't her body, so it was weaker than what she was used to. The girl who owned this body was not taking very good care of it. It made Veronica sick. So sick that she turned to her side and spat out a wad of blood onto the ground. "That fucking hurt," she grumbled, her eyes suddenly drooping low. Veronica stumbled backwards, nearly falling over as she dropped Caroline's gun and clutched her head. "Fuck, what a time for it to wear off!"

Veronica screamed out in pain and fell to her knees, overtaken by an uncontrollable shaking. For a second, she knelt there in her pain, before falling to the ground. Caroline soon met the same fate, save for the falling to the ground half. She was already on the ground and weakened significantly, it was no trial for her to get knocked unconscious.

A brief moment later, Caroline's body began to move again, and she tried to lift herself off the ground, but her wounds did not allow her. She decided to throw herself on her back and took a look at her hands, then at where she was. She could see Veronica's body in the distance, and sighed in relief. "Back in my own body. Thank the gods."

"Wait, friend of my sister," Anna spoke up, moving over to him immediately. "Take a look into my telescope." The short girl lifted her bronze spyglass up so that Era could get a good look into the lens. The star sign of Pisces was clear enough to see, and soon enough Era could feel a wash of relief as all his wounds were cleared away. "See how he takes care of those in need? He is my favorite of all the horoscopes. I only wish he were mine own." Anna lowered her telescope and smiled at him before turning to her sister, who was still on the ground.

"Is it really her?" Jens asked, his every movement cautious. He had not helped Era, but there was nothing to do about that. He took a few steps closer to where Anna was, his eyes full of concern. Anna merely shrugged at him and glanced down at Caroline's body. "Can't you find out?"

"Sister," Anna sighed. Caroline looked up into her sister's eyes and smiled then. Despite the wounds she got from Era, she was still able to smile up at her sister. "Tell me our horoscopes, starting with your own."

"I'm Leo, sign of the Leader. Anna is Libra, sign of the Merciful. Jens is Aries, sign of the Adventurer." Caroline spoke easily, as if she had known all of this since the day she was born. "Sorry, but I don't know Era's, so I couldn't tell you his."

"Era?" Anna looked towards the friend of her sister now. "Is that your name, friend of my sister?"

Era tossed his blade into the air where it vanished in a cloud of golden dust. The struggle was over, and an innocent life had been saved. This was probably the most meaningful thing he had done since coming to this world. This was what he was meant for. To use his power to aid people, that was a noble endeavor. The young woman, Anna, questioned Caroline to figure out if it was really her, and from the answer Caroline gave, Era was pretty convinced it was the real Caroline, and he gave a sigh of relief. His time-lagged clone had long since dissipated, and he drew nearer to Anna and the others whereas before he had distanced himself a bit.

"Yes, that would indeed be my name, or at least what I go by. My real name is Aaron Cadence. Due to my powers of time, however, I've come to calling myself Era." Era bowed his head slightly, his light green bangs covering his spectacles causing him to have to readjust them. "Your horoscopes have me interested. I never really got to know mine. It involves the day of your birth, correct? It's been a while since I've had any celebration of my birthday, but I know I was born April 17th." He felt a little embarrassed asking at such a time like this, but he felt a bit left out. Maybe he was just being a little selfish; it was definitely unlike him. It doesn't hurt to indulge every once in a while...

Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars Empty Re: Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars

Post by Zerifachias Tue Dec 16, 2014 3:47 pm

Anna hummed for a moment, her eyes closed as she thought. "Your sign is the same as Jens: Aries, the Adventurer. It is a good sign for one such as you." Anna opened her eyes and smiled sweetly at Era. She took a small step forward, "I'd like to get to know you better, Era. And I think Caroline owes you a great deal." Anna looked to where Caroline was. Jens was helping her up, slinging her arm over his shoulder and stooped down low enough for Caroline to use her feet.

"Let's discuss this at base," Caroline said, "Jens can't hold onto me forever."

Anna giggled a little bit at the sight of Caroline and Jens. "Of course, dear sister. Era, you will come along as well. That's not a choice."

"We should also see to it that Veronica is either dead or in the care of her executioners," Jens added, nodding towards the crumpled body of the body-stealing killer. Anna did not want to get any closer to the body, so she moved towards Jens and got one of his radios. Anna dialed to the authorities' line and told them of Veronica's body. The group had to wait for the authorities to arrive, so Caroline sat on the ground, still recovering.

Before the authorities could arrive at the scene, the wind seemed to change, the sky began to darken just enough to be noticed. Up in the sky, a giant airship hovered, right above where Veronica and our heroes stood. From the airship, two blots descended down to the ground, both persons landing on either side of Veronica. Both were men, strong and intimidating with large, semi-automatic guns. One of the men scooped Veronica's tiny body up onto his back with ease and hefted his weapon towards the heroes, daring them to move.

"Veronica's such a fucking dumbass to be caught like this," the man who was not carrying Veronica said. Both were wearing full-body armor suits, covered from head to toe in nothing but polished steel. On their backs were jetpacks that began to spurt into action, spewing fire to lift the men into the air.

"I would have gotten away with it," Veronica's weak voice barely managed to escape her lips as she glanced upwards. There was no telling how long she had been conscious, though she was obviously in a lot of pain. "If it weren't for these meddling kids and that stupid man."

"Yer too weak," the one who was holding spoke now, in a heavy accent. "Tha boss ain' gon' like this y'hear?"

"Shut up," Veronica retorted weakly.

"Stop! Where do you think you're going?!" Caroline shouted, her own voice just as weak as Veronica's. The men continued to hover upwards towards the sky, despite her shout. One of them pointed his gun at her and laughed.

"You dumbasses are lucky we only came to grab this stupid bitch! Next time we meet, you won't be so lucky!" And with that, the two men disappeared up into the sky, the airship leaving the skies before the authorities could arrive to chase them. Even when the ones in charge did show up, it was without an airship. There would be no tracking the villains now, and Veronica was free again to do as she wished.

"That blows," Caroline muttered. "C'mon, we should get back to the base."

Stymied by Veronica's escape, the not-so-heroic heroes guided Era towards the base of the small guild. When it came into view, Era saw that the base was not a house or a mansion of any sort. It was an airship. Caroline explained to him that she was the one who built the airship with the help of a few volunteers. They used it mainly as a place to rest their heads, but the thing could lift off the ground just as well as any other airship could. Compared to the size of the one they saw carry Veronica away, this was a small ship indeed.

Inside was not much of an improvement in size either, if anything it seemed much smaller. The spaces were crammed with electronic devices that monitored the airship's condition or controlled some part of the ship. The claustrophobia ended when Era was introduced into the main area of the ship, something that Caroline had come to call the "Lounge." After climbing down a ladder to the Lounge, the group had sight all around the airship through tall windows that lined the walls, just a few feet above the floor itself. Several couches were set up in a circle, with a strange sort of contraption in the center.

It appeared to be a machine, though the design was strange. A circular, pipe-like construction sprouted from the floor, with the cap of the pipe sealed off by two mechanical doors. When the group approached the machine, the doors opened and a mass of small pipe-wires rose from the depths of the container. After unraveling itself, the machine turned it's "face" towards the group and greeted them in a mechanical voice.

"Welcome home, masters," it said. "You have been gone for approximately five hours. There are three new messages for you. Would you like to hear them now?" The machine spoke mechanically, but it was obvious that it used Caroline's voice as a reference. The femininity of her voice was mostly masked by the machine sounds, but it was noticeable. The fact that the machine's artificial body took the shape of a female only made it easier to notice.

"Not right now, Emm." Caroline sighed in relief as Jens let the girl rest on the long couch. She glanced up at Era and gestured to the machine with a dismissing hand. "Era, this is Emm. Well, Really it's E.M.M.S., but I just call her Emm. Stands for Electronic Macro Manager System."

The machine seemed to have a mind of its own as it turned its body towards Era and gave an awkward bow, which just composed of it bending it's wires around so her head tilted. "A pleasure to meet you, master Era." It was obviously an intuitive machine to pick up on Era's name and the mannerisms of Caroline's speech. "I am E.M.M.S. I perform many duties, including measuring time, receiving messages and requests, maintenance for the airship. I am also the ship's auto-pilot system should that be required."

"Make yourself comfortable, Era, friend of my sister," Anna had stuck closely to Era the whole way to the guild headquarters. Never touching him, but close enough for him to feel her presence. "Tell us a little about yourself, if you don't mind. It's not often a complete stranger gets caught up in my sister's trouble."

Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars Empty Re: Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars

They got away. Era cursed mentally but kept his outward appearance as that of an unfazed fellow. It was too much to hope that Veronica and her dangerous and unique power would vanish from this world for good. No, instead she was rescued and the goons that served as her saviors threatened to come back for them--to put an end to them. Era knew that would be easier said than done granted his own unique power combined with the efforts of Anna, Caroline, and whatever Jens may have up his sleeve. But the confrontation was sure to be nasty. He had no doubts about that. He watched them as they soared away in their giant airship. If only he had put an end to the woman himself, but he didn't want to upset the others by what that would imply. If they ever did really cross paths with Veronica again, he would settle his business with her then. And as he said before, their paths would definitely cross again.

No choice. Era followed the others back to their base which turned out to be a neat little airship that was apparently operational, but mainly served as a place for them to rest. To discover that Caroline herself had built it along with a few others was astounding. Era applauded her efforts because the ship was definitely well-made and taken care of. The group was greeted by some odd mechanical feminine voice that Caroline introduced as "Emm." Electronic Macro Manager System. A rather intuitive mechanized being that was in charge of quite the number of tasks. Era peered at it inquisitively, scrutinizing its every detail. He couldn't help but to be intrigued; he was definitely into technology more than the average person would be, and this was the first time he had encountered such a thing.

"A pleasure to meet you as well, Emm," Era offered up to the machine as he gave his own deep bow in response. He decided to take up Anna's offer and sit on one of the couches. After all the strenuous physical activity, it felt so relieving to just have a seat somewhere comfortable, and he let out an audible sigh. She wanted to know a little about himself, Anna did. There was so much to say. Did he tell them he was not from this world? "Well, to start with, I'm not from this world." Sure, why the hell not? "I know it sounds a little...uh, out there? But it's the truth. I hardly know anything about this place and what I do know I learned from people I've worked for performing odd jobs. I know about the rift between the North and the South, hence why I was so startled at the assassination attempt. To think it would really come to that..." he paused for a moment in thought before realizing he had gone awkwardly silent. "But yeah...I have a unique power--one I attained from a journey I once had in a dream. I mean, well, it started as just a dream. But what occurred in that dream quickly became my reality. When I thought it was over, let's just say things were just beginning for me. An accidental use of my power sent me far away from my own world and time. And so I arrived here. A stranger, indeed, in every way, shape, and form..." He let his voice trail off here but didn't say anything else, a look of slight distress upon his face.

Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars Empty Re: Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars

The trio were silent as they listened to Era's introduction. The same thought ran through each of their heads: how was that even possible? Traveling through worlds was one thing, but through time? Such magic shouldn't even be possible, otherwise it would have been used long ago to reverse the tragedies of the past. But then again, body-switching magic had been thought impossible as well, but Veronica proved that was possible as well. If magic could throw someone into a different time period...perhaps the mages in Ermith were right. Magic is capable of anything.

Anna gingerly placed a hand on Era's shoulder, so lightly he may not have even felt it. With an empathetic smile she looked at him. "You must be terribly lonely," Anna spoke, her voice just a soft whisper. "We can't replace the bonds you lost to time, but we can help you forge new ones. Stay here with us, we can show you the world. Isn't that right, dear sister?"

"Of course you're welcome to join us," Caroline answered easily. "There's plenty for us to do, so you'll never be bored.."

"You helped Caroline escape when she was switched bodies," Jens started, speaking up. He had a genuine smile across his face, his approval of Era was clear as day. "In my book, that makes you welcome here."

"What do you say, Era? Will you be our friend?" Anna finished with an even bigger smile than Jens's.

Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars Empty Re: Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars

For the first time in a long time, Era realized just how lonely he really was. His heart...it ached. The allies he had found in the dream had remained with him for so long, and then they were torn away from each other just like that. Being disconnected from the real world for so long, he couldn't readjust. He remembered the difficulty he had getting back into a routine. Daily mundane life just didn't feel the same. In a way, he was glad his power had taken him away from that world. There was no way he could live in it anymore. And here, in this world, he had found people he could connect with. In this fantastical world...this was where he belonged now. He started off in this world on the right foot, and now that he had some companions, so much more good could be done with his powers. He felt a touch of warmth in his heart that he hadn't felt in quite a long time. It was the familiar feeling of a bond being formed between him and these people--his friends.

Era placed a hand gently on the hand that rested so lightly upon his shoulder and gazed at each and every one of them, stopping last on Anna whose smile was so welcoming. How could he turn down such an offer? "To be honest...it would mean the world to me if I could be your friend," he responded, a smile now etching itself on his face whereas before there was naught but depressing uncertainty.

"Then let me officially welcome you to our guild as our new friend and comrade," Caroline stated, more than welcoming. She was smiling at Era, though Anna was the one at his shoulder. Caroline pushed herself up into a seated position, pausing for a moment to catch her breath. "Make yourself at home, Era. There are places to rest your head downstairs. Pick whichever room you like, we have plenty of them."

"Someone made too many rooms for just the three of us," Jens mentioned, a sly smirk on his face. Caroline gave him a dissatisfied look, to which he shrugged at. "I suppose it isn't much of a waste anymore." Jens turned to Era and gave him a slight bow of his head. "It isn't much of a welcoming party, but we weren't exactly expecting today to be like it was. I'm a bit of an engineer myself, if you need a weapon or a bit of armor manufactured, I'm your man."

"Even though he looks like that, Jens is an accomplished alchemist as well," Anna said, giggling when Jens shot her a quick glare. "Potions, tonics, and poultices are his specialties, but I've seen him experimenting with weapons and armor before."

"Speaking of poultices, I have something for you, Caroline," Jens mentioned. "I can show Era where the quarters are while I go fetch it."

"Good idea. Era, it's been a long day, so if you want to call it a night, that's up to you." Caroline glanced out one of the windows, noticing that the sun was beginning the third descent. "You have a good three and a half hours before dark. If you'd rather explore, I'm sure Anna would love to show you around the city."

What will Era do?
>Explore the city - Anna will take you out on a date to see the city
>Call it a night - Jens will show you to your quarters

With that statement, Era had a place where he finally belonged in this world. He was a member of Caroline's guild, and he had a definite place to stay now. This was his home now. Caroline mentioned Jens profession and that he would be able to show him to his quarters, but he remembered that he had to get his sparse belongings from the inn and let the innkeeper know that he would no longer be staying in his room there. He really didn't have any option. Not to mention maybe there was something in the city he hadn't seen yet. He was positive that Anna would know the place way better than he did. There was no doubt about it.

"I'll have to keep that in mind," he said, nodding to Caroline and Jens regarding Jens's profession in alchemy and his usefulness when it came to salves and potions. They would certainly come in handy. He imagined that there would be some struggles in the future given the guild's work. "Before I get settled, I need to go back into the city to get my belongings from my prior dwelling," he explained. "I suppose I may as well have Anna here show me around while we take care of that. It'll be nice to get to know the better parts of the city. I've done my share of exploring but I'm certain I haven't seen everything." He realized he hadn't let go of Anna's hand and drew it away as inconspicuously as he could manage, feeling a bit embarrassed, a light blush flashing across his cheeks momentarily, there and gone like lightning.

Caroline nodded once and laid herself back, slouching on the couch. "Alright, just be careful in the city. Never know when you might end up in some criminal's body." Perhaps it was a bit too soon to make a joke like that, but it was evident that Caroline didn't care. It might have even just been a way for her to get over the whole issue, making humor out of it. Still, she hurt, so she nodded to Jens. "Something to ease the pain would be lovely, Jens."

"I'll be right back," Jens confirmed and headed down the hall towards a trap door. When opened, the trapdoor revealed a ladder going down, and Jens disappeared into it. Without much delay, Anna walked around the chair that Era was seated in and snatched both of his hands in hers. A big, coy grin spread across her face as she helped him up off the chair.

"No time like the present. Let's get your things and take a tour of the city." Anna was obviously excited, and that excitement did not go unnoticed by Caroline.

"Look at you two, barely even met and already turning into a pair of lovebirds." Caroline laughed when Anna shot a glare at her. Anna allows Era's hands to fall as she took her own away and crossed them over her small chest. "I'm only kidding, there's no way that would happen. Go have some fun you two."

"Lets go, before my sister finds another reason to make a joke," Anna said, turning to Era, nodding once, and then moving to lead him out of the airship. After that, it would be his turn to lead her to...wherever he kept his things.

Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars Empty Re: Adventures of Naletia: Thieves and Beggars

Era knew Caroline meant well with her joke. Now that it had been revealed that he was not the only one in this world with odd and unique abilities, it was true that care would be of the utmost priorities. Era wasn't one to drop his guard often anyway. His journey through the dream had been enough to teach him that. It was something that clung onto him even when he returned to reality. I mean, you could never be too careful in any city on any world. He smiled at Caroline until she decided to tease him and Anna. His blush returned and he was in complete agreement with Anna when it came to making an escape while they could. He let her lead him out of the airship but it would be up to him to take her to the inn.

Era made his way from the outskirts with Anna back into the main city. The sky was still bright but darkness was approaching. The city was always beautiful at night. He wondered if he and Anna would be out for three hours though. They passed by the execution area. There were authorities in the area, probably trying to get more details on what happened. The split second decision he made; it had made a major impact on things. He praised his own intuitive nature, and was glad that he had been around. What would have happened if he hadn't? That thought was best left behind, and it was as he and Anna departed the scene. The inn wasn't too far away from that spot. He entered the front door, finding the innkeeper behind the counter dealing with a customer. He gave him a slight wave and gestured for Anna to come along. He headed up the stairs and arrived in front of his room. Unlocking it, he ventured inside, leaving the door open for Anna.

"It wasn't much, but I had to start somewhere in this world. I'm lucky to have been able to afford it." He moved about looking in the chest where he stored pretty much all of his sparse belongings--clothes, a few accessories, and some technological doodads that he wouldn't be able to charge here in this new world...or maybe there would be a way...through magic. He wasn't worried about it now, however. He crammed everything into his backpack and put it in its proper place on his back, making sure the zippers were nice and done before doing so. He took some stationary from his pocket and a pen. He jotted down a note letting the innkeeper know his residence here...was over. Gently, he laid it on the bed, tucking the pen back into his pocket. "He seemed a bit preoccupied downstairs. I figured this would be easier," Era explained.
