how can you not use a starter...

the first pokemon game i ever got was Ruby.. and I couldent beat it till i was like 8, actually , i dont think i ever beat it .. then I got pearl.. now i have paltinum.. and im getting soul silver , and heart gold..

I was thinking about getting all the starters, but that limits my team. And then they never become Duel-Types so... Might not use a starter, may just trade it...
