Is America A Culture Of Divorce?

Post by Zerifachias on Thu Mar 11, 2010 7:52 pm

America has been rated #1 on the list for the highest percentage of divorces in the entire world. Out of the billions of people who live in our country and that are married, a little under 50% of those marriages will end in divorce, sometimes more than once. It has been proven that adults under the age of 27 will most likely have their marriages end in this way.

Under the age of 20 years, women have a 28% chance of getting divorced, while men have a 12% chance.

From 20-24 years of age, women have a whopping 36.6% chance of divorce, and men have an even bigger percentage of 38.8%.

From 25-29 years of age, women have a much smaller 16% of divorce, while men have a slightly bigger 22.3% chance.

From 30-34 years of age, women have an 8.5% chance of divorce, while men are 11.6%.

35-39 year old women have a mere 5.1% chance of divorce, with men close behind with a 6.5% chance.

50% of marriages in the U.S. still end in divorce. With this information, answer this question: "Is America a culture of divorce?"

No, it's a culture of bad decisions. People have different definitions of love. Some relationships die from people cheating on each other.

Why? Because they found someone they think is better. Most Americans don't understand the concept of patience. They don't stop to think what they want in someone else, usually all it takes for people to "fall in love" is eye contact. It's been psychologically proven.

Since 75% people base their love off of something a baseless as eye contact(extroverts), there will obviously be a lot of divorces. The other 25% are staying together for the kids, or are actually happy.

Even if it's just for the kids, what happens when the kids grow up and begin to take care of themselves? Their marriage then becomes pointless if it was just for the purpose of raising a few children. Yes, it is good to have children to help love grow, but staying together just for the children will not help in the long run. After the kids leave the household, what's keeping the parents from divorcing?

Nothing, that's why they usually divorce, unless there's something else to take care of.

If there's nothing left, the only thing really getting hurt is their money, and they can separate with a guilt-free conscience.

Actually there is a reason.
Because they grow in each other.
Like pets.
If two people are staying together only for the child more than likely 18 yrs later its hard for them to split up. It's not always that people start getting married right away and decide it's a bad idea. They tend to give up easily from arguments that every couple have.

Life is hard, but if you think it's unfair, don't get married.

Well, some actually split up because of the child...I know in my dad's day it was fairly popular for women to get pregnant in a vain attempt to keep their boyfriend committed.

But the definition of life is unfairness. Any adult, married or not will tell you that.

Personally, I think the practice of marriage is overdone. It attempts to symbolize a 'pure' bond that no one can really obtain. Humanity definitely has flaws, especially in the 'love' department. Due to stupid hormones, 89% of guys will be uncommitted in the mind(checking out other women when he thinks his wife isn't looking, or not there), but act the opposite on the outside.

Since life's too short, I say toss marriage out the window, let people be with whoever whenever they want. If children become an issue, abortion should do the trick. It may be a life, but every life's gotta end someday, right?
