"We'll just have to be extra careful!" Layla stated, trying not to let her nervousness show. If the seed could call out one flora creature, there was no doubt it could call out more. Hopefully, it wouldn't call in so many they wouldn't be able to handle them all. For now, Layla could only think of one thing she could do to help. "Hope this works. . . !"

With careful aim, she launched a needle at the new plant with all the intention of keeping it from doing anything.

Katarina moves to cell I-4

"Yes, be careful Layla." Katarina said, taking position in front of the little girl with her blade out in a defensive position. That thing was producing smaller plants, not good. If it could continue producing non-stop it would eventually wear them out.

Aria moved forward just a bit as the plant spit out one of the many floras most of the party had fought earlier. August was trying to torch the gigantic plant which would easily draw its attention toward him. Providing the same protection she had bestowed upon Katarina would be of utmost importance now. Once again the Illusion whispered to herself, all focus in on the only male in their party; a mist like aura swelled around him and faded from existence. "You'd do well to listen to them, August."

Gorganthea uses Spawn: Enchanted Flora! [Summons Enchanted Flora to F6]

Just like it had done before, the large plant shot out another enchanted flora with great ease. It landed elegantly on the other side. Even though the first had been disabled, Gorganthea was confident that its second spawn would be able to at least get something accomplished against the interlopers, even if they were just trying to help it grow. It would not simply sit there and take abuse. That was clearly out of the question.

August uses Scythe! [Scythe abilities available for use]

"I'll heed them. They seem to be helpful," August replied to Aria reassuringly. Sure enough, they did have some awfully interesting advice to contribute to it. Taking care to follow through with what the whispered words said, he allowed his staff to melt back into the thin mist only to have it reform into what appeared to be an old farmer's sickle. The blade was in rather poor condition and the handle was made of wood that was cracked in places. "New weapon, same condition," August sighed as he readied the thing. "Magic wasn't going to be of much help from here; I accomplished what I set out to do. Now let's see how this baby works out."

August waits.

Layla would have been startled by the sudden voices if she hadn't seen Aria do the same to the rest of the group. Giving the not real person (?) a tentative smile in thanks, she refocused her attention on the newly emerged plant that popped out from the primal seed. She had been able to stop the first in its tracks. Now she had to see if she could do the same to the newest one.

[Layla] moves to [J-6].

So far the primal seed hadn't done much besides breed some minions but from what she had learned from games, it was probably time for the seed to begin its counterattack. Needless to say it would probably be painful for them. Hopefully, if this was anything like a game, it wouldn't start dealing any REAL damage until it was low on health. Nervously, Layla twirled her leaf before she launched it at the new plant.

Katarina waits

As much as she wanted to assume the position of a commander like she had always been with the rest of her regiment, she had a sinking feeling in her that she wouldn't be able to do anything. These plants seemed far too resilient to attacks, and she wasn't quite sure if she could cause any damage to the smaller ones, let alone the larger ones. After all, plants do utilize sunlight, which was what the people of Pyrathi base their magic off of.

"I apologize, I'm not sure if I can be of any use against these monsters." Katarina muttered, feeling rather ashamed of herself.

The root had definitely taken August by surprise. He blamed himself for being so fascinated with his new weapon, but there was no time to worry about his faults for the moment. He gazed at the blade of his scythe; it was a rather intimidating weapon. At that moment, he felt an unexplainable blast of power and confidence surge through him. "What...what is this feeling?" he gasped quietly to himself as he gripped the scythe tighter, raising his gaze to take a look at the large foe ahead of him. He took a daring step forward and readied himself. He had to make his move, whether it would be effective or not. Bit by bit, he'd have to chisel away at it until they won, and of course he had his allies with him. At least I can handle the attacks well, August thought in relief, bracing himself.

August uses Imminence! [Critical Hit Rate and Critical Hit Damage +30%]

Aria attacks Banana! 9 Int Damage!

With the last of her allies benefitting from the mysterious voices from beyond, Aria's form settled in the garden for a moment. There was no need to provide herself with the same protection, best to save her energy for if someone else needed greater boosts. Instead the Illusion looked over towards one of the two Flora that Layla had disabled and her form flickered. A simple flick of the wrist, which also wavered with the movement, caused a certain pulse of energy to form a laser and fire at the target.

They could do this! Seeing her skill effect work against the plants gave Layla a sense of hope and pride. No longer did the primal seed look intimidating nor did the other flora seem frightening. They could definitely do this! Layla quickly took a deep breath to calm herself but nothing could stop her from skipping closer so as to have a good shot at the flora she had just hit.

[Layla] moves to [H-6].

Though the young girl knew she should be worried about the lack of distance between her and the primal seed, she just couldn't bring herself to care much. A part of her mind prodded at her to move away but Layla ignored it. No thought it would come back to bite her from behind later but right now, it didn't matter much. Spinning on her heel, she launched two leaves in quick succession as the disabled flora.

[Layla] attacks [Banana]. 14 ATK DMG. 2 hits.

Katarina waits

It was likely not going to work, but it might be worth a try to do something about this. She couldn't leave the other three to be fighting this giant flower all by themselves without giving them any kind of help, especially when such a little girl who resembled her own sister was already fighting. What would her own sister say if she saw the famed general of Pyrathi, the one she looked up to the most, cowering behind others? With that thought in mind Katarina swung her blade and held it up in the air, which somehow caused a pillar of light to strike down at the giant plant.

Though August and the others weren't doing much damage themselves, the antagonizing burn placed upon the primal seed caused it to tremble with a mixture of despair and anger. Spheres shot out of the top of the thing straight up into the air like cannonballs and rained down upon battlefield, at least one hitting each of those who were fighting against Gorganthea. The spheres turned out to be seeds themselves, though they were infertile. Now they were nothing more than projectiles used to defend itself.

August uses Elimination on Gorganthea! 3 hits! 14 Dmg! 25 Dmg! CRITICAL!! 14 Dmg! (ATK)

MP: 0/30

A burst of energy surged upwards around August. The seed that fell upon him had hurt a bit, but it wasn't enough to make him retreat. He could handle this. He had to. Gripping his scythe tightly, he lashed out at Gorganthea, slicing it diagonally downwards, his body turning quickly while manipulating the scythe to dig a deep gash as it swiped against the body of the primal seed horizontally. August drew in a sharp breath as he quickly worked his hands along the shaft of his weapon for a final diagonal strike, though he was disappointed to see that he had hardly dealt any damage to it. "This...this is insanity..." he murmured, completely crushed. He had to revert to magic. Maybe his odd dream fire could burn the thing again so that they'd have constant damage upon the thing, but even that would be left up to luck. Maybe it's time to try something else that's new? he mulled over the idea of experimenting with another weapon that he had gained a grasp over. This was not the time to be taking risks, but they didn't have much of a choice with the way things were going now.

[Layla] moves to [H-3].

"Wow, that was awesome, Mr. August!" Layla cheered for the man before flinching when her movements caused her wounds to shriek in pain. She had been forced to brace herself for the attack when she realized what exactly the seed had done but that had done nothing to lessen the blow. She resisted the urge to rub at them and instead, focused on the flora on the opposite side of her. It seemed to have shaken off its disability and was now readying itself to attack.

Careful of her injuries, the little girl quickly made her way over to it, giving August an encouraging thumbs up and a smile as she passed by him. He was the only one of them capable of doing any real damage to the biggest threat in the immediate area and seeing him so down depressed her too. But they had to keep their spirits up if they wanted to win! Layla then sent Katarina a happy smile and wave when she saw her but couldn't see Aria so she decided it wasn't worth it. It wasn't as if Aria would care, was what she thought.

With leaf in hand, Layla attacked. They were doing so well, she couldn't let it be ruined.

[Layla] uses Disable on [Almond]. 7 Piercing ATK DMG. Chance of Disable.

The seed that had been fired at the party caused Aria's form to flicker violently before it settled somewhat. She felt her connection to the world fade for a moment or so before it was reestablished and she frowned. The physical body of the seed had been able to hurt her? That had to make her wonder exactly how it had done so when she did not appear to have a tangible physical form. Unable to answer her musings, however, Aria instead launched another pulse of energy at her previous target. She could wonder later, when the enemies were defeated.

Katarina uses Sun Strike on Gorganthea. 5 Fire INT Dmg
MP: 8/20

She really couldn't do much to it even though it was a plant and fire normally hurt plants. Perhaps this world did not quite follow the logic of the real world., which after what she has seen so far that was a possibility. Well at least her allies were wearing the giant plant down. Katarina raised her blade again, and another pillar of light fell down on the plant to burn it, though it still didn't do all that much.

August uses Relic! [Relic abilities available for use]

Another giant seed cracked August right in the skull causing him to fall on his ass, groaning as he rubbed his head where the thing had impacted it.  Taking a deep breath, he managed to stand up again, allowing his scythe to dissolve back into the thin mist, however, it didn't stay like that for long.  August held a hand out and the mist began to consolidate into what appeared to be a rectangular stone tablet.  He brought the thing to his face to see that some symbols were roughly etched into the stone, but the stone was extremely weathered.  Regardless, August could feel a bit of magical power emanating from the tablet.  It would serve as another weapon, and at this point, it couldn't be any more useless than the other weapons in his repertoire.  "Guys, I think this might be hopeless.  I'm not entirely sure, but...we might need a miracle here," he called out to his allies uneasily.  Since they had come to the Dreamlands, they had practically received no mercy...at least when it came to fights.  A cloud of despair weighed heavily on August's shoulders.  Could they really pull it off?  Vetalia would be so upset if they couldn't.  August was one that hated to disappoint, but they were all still rookies.  This might have been one task they weren't prepared for.

August waits.

Layla would have been appalled by August's depressing words if she herself didn't feel a sense of hopelessness as well. She wasn't stupidly optimistic like those cheerful, naive characters in all the video games she played. She could pretend to be but that didn't stop her mind from thinking, once in a while, 'we are so screwed'. This was one of those moments. But the point was, they still had a trump card, though she really didn't want to use it. Mostly because doing so was ridiculously exhausting and wasted most of her weaponry. Despite what seemed to be commonly believed, she didn't have a limitless supply.

[Layla] moves to [H-6].

"Come on, August!" Layla pat the man on the arm, having ran past him only to spin back around on his other side. "It's not over yet! And, despite what you think, we do have a trump card. Several, in fact." She gave a cheery smile, trying not to let any of her doubt, however small, seep through. "Besides, it's okay if we lose. As long as we're not dead, we can still get stronger and move forward. So lift your chin up! We're doing our best now and we'll keep doing our best in the future!" With another pat and smile, Layla shot a leaf at the weakened plant nearby, ending its life.

[Layla] attacks [Banana]. 14 ATK DMG. 2 hits.

Okay, this thing wasn't going down anytime soon and the Dreamweaver seemed about ready to give up. But they couldn't give up. She, the woman credited with saving the Pyrathi people and the maker of miracles, would not let her new allies down. However it was true the situation looked bleak, but as the sun always rises each day there will always be a way to get through the even the worst situations. She raised her sword again and brought it down as another pillar of light crashed down on the giant plant. That was all she could do, she was too weak to face this monstrosity.

Aria attacks Almond! 9 Int Damage!

Things were not looking any better. This. . . thing had hardly taken any damage since it stopped burning and no one else had the ability to burn it some more. Not to mention its defenses. Aria's mind drifted from the uncertainty of herself to wonder if they could even manage to defeat this thing. Not willing to disappear, however, she shot another pulse of energy at the creature. If they were going to die, then so be it.

"So this is where you turned out to be," a stern female voice resounded through the area with such authority that it seemed to actually add an air of relief to the atmosphere, cutting through the fog of desperation surrounding the party.  A woman stood at the entrance to the garden.  She had a very beautiful, stainless, spotless military uniform on with a matching cap kept in the same pristine condition.  Upon the breast of the uniform, several golden pins rested in various shapes and sizes, obviously awards that she had earned most likely in the field of battle.  Her hair was long and dark and lustrous possessing somewhat of a dark blue hue to it.  Did she have highlights?  Her dark eyes were fierce, but held a playful light deep within them at this moment.  Attached to her forearms were two large braces, their purpose unknown for a moment.  Reaching for her belt, the woman unclasped a scroll and unrolled it slowly, raising it up theatrically and reading from it aloud.  It turned out to be the mission scroll that the group had picked up.

"Growth through touch stimulus?  Perhaps I can lend a hand."  With a flick of her arms, two large crescent-shaped blades glowing with pale white energy emerged from the braces and the woman entered a battle stance of sorts.  A blazing red aura surrounded her for a moment and she faded from existence.  It seemed that as suddenly as she appeared, just as quickly had she vanished.  Had she gone back on her word to help them?

August whirled about and looked for the missing Layla, but the young girl was nowhere to be found.  Had she disappeared just like the others had?  Weren't they destined to continue on in this realm together?  Apparently the tides of fate had turned, and just when all seemed hopeless, a mysterious woman burst into their garden party.  She had a professional appearance--definitely from the military.  August briefly wondered if she was an acquaintance of Ilsa's since the infirmary where she worked had ties to the government.  A smile formed on August's face as she expressed interest in helping them, only to disappear without a trace.  Surely it was part of her battle scheme?

"I'm going to have to use it!" August shouted to the others, taking his mind off of the disappearing woman for a moment.  There was plenty to worry about once the battle was over, and nothing to worry about if they died.  August raised a hand and began drawing in the thick mist that hovered listlessly over the ground.  The mist formed into a sphere and burst outwards in a blazing light of orange.  When the light had cleared, scorch marks could be seen upon their opposition, little fires still burning on spare leaves and such.

Aria teleports to E9!

Aria flickered rather harshly as Layla was taken from the realm of dreams. Without her around to help, the party would be severely hindered in what they could do. Thankfully fate seemed to be prepared to lend a helping hand–a woman suddenly appeared and disappeared, although Aria could definitely feel her presence nearby. Wherever she had disappeared to, she hopefully would attack the armored plant that was giving them so much trouble. That in mind, Aria teleported to another section of the garden and fired a powerful beam of darkness at the enchanted Flora that was summoned.

Katarina moves to cell J-3

She couldn't muster up any more energy to call on her pillar of light anymore. Her mana reserves was drained and she couldn't afford to go anywhere near that plant monster. She could only fall back and let everyone else take care of the rest. However it seemed they were to be getting some reinforcements as a female arrived and announced that she would be lending a hand. Though it was immediately followed by her disappearing, but she shouldn't worry about that. She just needed to focus on staying out of the way for now.

Out of nowhere, the rather intimidating woman from before reappeared in the shadow of the giant seed.  A complacent smirk was on her and she spun about, shredding into the tough husk of the seed with her crescent blades, ripping visible gashes into it where the others could hardly make an indentation.  With great ease, she halted after her final blow, maintaining a firm stance.  She rubbed her head as if something had struck it, and indeed it had.  She did not escape unscathed from the rain of heavy seeds that came raining down upon them suddenly.  "How troublesome," the woman muttered, not enthused but not particularly bothered by it.  This was still a rather simple task by far.  Another round of assaults and this thing would be put in its place...permanently.

The ultimate consecration of dream energy...all will falter and bow before the awesome power! Dreamlands, tremble and shake with the true might of the Dreamweaver! August unleashes Dream Death upon Gorganthea! 18 Piercing Dmg!

Now was the time. Stricken sick by the plant, August had no time to register the new appearance's attacks. She was strong; he knew that much, but with his mind hazing, there wasn't much he could think of right now. Fleeting images of his lost companions. They just kept dwindling off. Who would be next? When would he wake up from this fantastical and yet strangely frightening dream? The mist around August began to thicken as he clutched his head in anguish. All of the stress was really getting to him. He knew the task at hand would be difficult, but never had he imagined that it would end up this way. Thoughts of the woman with the strange spear surged through his mind and that was enough to send the mist into a convulsing rampage. August thrust his hand into the air where the mist gathered, his fingers one by one going down to touch his palm until he formed a fist. Glancing up suddenly at the primal seed, only one thought now passed through his mind, and that was the end of this creature.

Yelling out suddenly, his face contorting into one of agonizing rage, August slammed his fist into the ground, a blistering shockwave of rainbow energy surging outwards. A strange wailing sound emanating from the large plant as the energy ate away at its very being, tearing away its husk and leaving a rather fleshy bulb in its place. It looked naked compared to its previously armored form. The energy seemed to disperse rather quickly, but the will to fight in the plant had more than disappeared. They had won, just as Vetalia asked. If that didn't stimulate the plant, nothing could.

August waits.

Okay, this will be the first instance where the enhanced Death Drive is introduced, and therefore it shall receive its own explanation. Upon each Job Promotion, the Death Drive will expand offering you more versatility in how you use the DD that you accumulate in battle. With this particular expansion to 25 Max DD, you gain the ability to sacrifice 5 DD to boost one stat by 20% for 3 turns (doesn't stack; only one stat can be boosted in this way at one time) or you can sacrifice 20 DD to boost all your stats by 10% for 5 turns. In addition to those bonuses, your characters may have received a Demise Skill Point which is an immensely rare and valuable type of Skill Point used expressly to purchase another D-Ability that can be chained to the first assuming you have maximum DD. Your first tier D-Ability can be used at 10 DD like normal, but in order to access the second and chain the first, DD must be maxed. Since it is a second tier D-Ability you're purchasing, it will deal 5/10/15% more damage than normal. For example, a hit-all will deal 105% Piercing Dmg while a single target will deal 215%. It might seem insignificant now, but don't forget that:

1) You will be chaining another piercing attack to it.

2) There will be higher tier D-Abilities that will scale much higher.

Since your DD has expanded, there are also a couple new ways to fill it. The first is by healing. Yes! Finally, the healer can more easily access his/her D-Ability now. The other way is by successfully inflicting a negative status effect which will be a boon to a dedicated saboteur. For skills that do damage and manage to inflict a negative status, 2 DD will be gained. Moves that drain will also grant 2 DD, one for the damage and one for the drained healing. Area of effect healing garners DD equal to the amount of people healed. There are surely other situations I haven't thought of at the moment but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. That should be about it.

Destiny of the Dreamweaver - Page 13 Empty Re: Destiny of the Dreamweaver

Vetalia came running out of nowhere towards her giant research project.  The rainbow energy seemed to linger around it for a bit, and the little botanist zoog tried to brush it away to no avail.  A distraught look on her face, she pressed her cheek against the soft bulb of the interior, its shell being shredded away.  For a second she remained worried, but after a minute or two had passed, she let off a sigh of relief.  "You went all-out on the poor fellow, didn't you?  Good thing its shell can be regrown.  Though I'm wondering if this was what it needed to finally bloom.  I suppose we shall see, won't we?  I'll be sure to invite you back if anything changes.  It would be rewarding to see the results of your efforts, yes?" she chimed cheerily as she waddled her way over to August who was on one knee, panting.  Taking one of his hands, Vetalia placed some items into it.  A pouch of gold and a variety of herbs.

Mission 01 complete!

Rewards:
---225 Gold
---Herb x2
---Hyper Herb x2
---Revolt Herb x2
---Herbal Extract x2

August tucked the items away and managed to stand up, still struggling to catch his breath.  The power he unleashed had left him quite wiped.  All he could think of was rest.  "We're glad we could help, Vetalia, and we'd love to come back," he said, nodding to her, watching as she merrily went off to tend to the rest of her plants.  With that taken care of, August's attention now rested on the brazen woman who had charged into battle on their behalf, for she was standing right next to him all of a sudden.  August jumped and placed a hand over his now rapidly racing heart.  "Wow...okay," August mumbled trying to catch his breath which was lost all over again.  He bowed his head in respect; there was no doubt this woman was someone important.  "Thank you so much for your aid.  We may have taken on too much..." he explained, offering his thanks and a nervous chuckle.

"The efforts of you and your followers, dwindling as they are, are valiant, Dreamweaver," the woman stated simply, a warm smile on her face, sharp eyes staring deep into August's.  "I'm Colonel Amy Liesenzweil of the Western Mility Force.  My duties carried me to Dylath-Leen where I had to meet a friend of mine and happened to chance upon something else..."  She paused and took a look around, turning to glance near the garden entrance and retracting her weapons before they sliced August in two.  "Well then, I don't know where she got off to.  I found a new dreamer and I wished for her to join your group.  If you're wondering how I know of you and your efforts, you can thank Private Ilsa Handel, by the way."  Amy took a peek at the rest of the group...well it wasn't much of a group anymore.  Just two females and one of them still looked rather green in the area of combat.  This was troublesome.  A new addition was definitely welcome...but...

...where was she?

Destiny of the Dreamweaver - Page 13 Empty Re: Destiny of the Dreamweaver

Post by Zerifachias Sat Nov 16, 2013 1:30 pm

The rush of wind was the only thing that she could hear. White foam circled around her, the moisture wetting her hair and her clothes, but the woman didn't seem to care. She actually seemed happy to be getting her body wet. Or perhaps it was the rushing wind that chilled her to the bone that got her excited. Or, maybe it was the fact that she was falling. Falling so quickly that even if she yelled, no one would hear her.

Then with a audible "poof," the woman emerged from the white expanse and into the real world, the ground that was so far away getting closer and closer. Soon, she could see a group of tiny people, smaller than ants, grow and grow, as if they were part of the earth. The woman grinned, white teeth shining brightly with her hair and her dress. She wondered if the people below her had noticed her presence yet. If they hadn't, they were about to be incredible surprised.

She waited until the very last minute before producing a cloud of her own beneath her, and aimed herself at her target, the boy in the overcoat. Not bothering to slow herself down, the woman crashed into the boy with a loud yell of glee, creating a large explosion of white foam that went everywhere.

When the clouds disappeared into the air, the girl was on top of the boy, holding him by his shoulders, a huge smile on her face. Both appeared unharmed, and a light, white cloud held the two inches away from the ground. "Hi there, cutie," the mystery woman whispered seductively. "My name's Jeanne, what's yours?"
