Royal Guard anyone?
I'm attempting to make a...role play I guess, about a prince and his royal guard. It takes place around the 1000 a.d. centuries. Which means that warfare is done with nothing but swords and arrows, boats and horses. Which is the way wars are supposed to be fought. It all went downhill when people started making crossbows, because that's where the first ideas of guns came about. After that, it became a contest of luck and numbers rather than skill and talent.
I suppose it will go like this:
A prince of England, 17th heir to the throne, is ordered to travel and explore the lands of England, as well as Wales. He is then to report back to the king and explain the state of the country. It is a simple reconnaissance mission, but everything falls apart when remnants of the Saxons who live in the separate country of Wales capture the prince and hold him in their prison, as a hostage. The royal guard who were sent to protect the prince now have to gain the prince back at all costs.
Luckily, the royal guard has use of a translator, who had also accompanied them. This man also has a detailed knowledge of the lands of England and the lands beyond, so he will be of great use to helping find the prince. Along with him is the prince's personal bodyguard, Clay, a skilled young man who wields two short swords as his weapons. The rest of the royal guard is made up of multiple skilled men, both in battle and strategy. They must all work together to rescue the prince.
Basically, one of your typical "save the prince" type of role plays. It will not be statistical, so you don't have to worry about all those numbers. Just your skill level. Please note that there will be some enemies that you may not be able to defeat, even though you're supposed to. For these enemies, you are to pool your strengths together and overwhelm him with numbers rather than a fair fight. This is a war to get the prince back by any means necessary. And who knows what will happen after that~
Only me. =3
Anyone interested?

Re: Royal Guard anyone?
I actually have a character for this. And it does sound rather intresting. Nyru, my Herbalist will come in handy here. I am interested.
Re: Royal Guard anyone?
A herbalist in the royal guard?
Somehow that doesn't seem right~
This is England in 1000 a.d. Vikings are practically just starting to pop up all over the place. Do you really think a herbalist can be part of a guard for a prince? Sorry to break it to you, but this isn't a normal role play.

Re: Royal Guard anyone?
I would believe the Royal Guard would have a medical healer to deal with injuries. But it's your call. I have a squire that would work just as well.
Re: Royal Guard anyone?
The translator works at many professions, including healing and other such things as that. I think we'll be fine. We need the extra manpower.

Re: Royal Guard anyone?
So I have a question. Do you play the Translator. Probably a stupid question, but if not I would play.
Re: Royal Guard anyone?
The translator is simply another NPC that I would control, yes. I am allowing others to control his actions when they understand his personality and actions enough.
The main character I'm using is Clay. I'm still thinking of whether making the prince a NPC or not.

Re: Royal Guard anyone?
Oh War... Stories of fighting over land and women dressing as men. I've little need to change Nyru. Except for her occupation.
Re: Royal Guard anyone?
Is Nyru a woman?
...
You'd better be extremely careful about that kind of stuff. A woman dressing up as a man and entering the army is considered high treason. And this is the Royal Guard too! Punishments worse than death await those who betray the king.
And please refrain from using anyone younger than 23. Clay is young, but he's still 23 years old. That's my limit. This is supposed to be a very brutal role play, despite what you may think~

Re: Royal Guard anyone?
Nyru technically is not betraying the king. She's just helping though she shouldn't.

That's no excuse for it. I just said that if a woman is caught imitating a male and joining any sort of army, they are considered to be guilty of treason.
