You find yourself entering what looks like a large library, with walls stacked with all sorts of books. You decide to browse through the books for a little while, picking up a few books that seem interesting, but you are disappointed to see that most of them aren't finished yet, with pages as white as snow. Turning to the next shelf, you notice something interesting scribbled in tiny print on a plaque beside the shelf.

It reads: "Tales of a Dreamer: The Legends of the Dragons."

Interested, you look at the shelf and see many different books of different designs. You decide to pick up one of the smaller books on the shelf, which has a plain black cover with golden print on the front.

~The Tale of Ikarus~

Intrigued, you open the book and begin to read...

~

"In the lands of Ermith, there existed a particular dragon that waited atop the Celestial Tower, otherwise known as the Staircase to Heaven, and more commonly known as the Temple of Light. This dragon's name was Ikarus, and he waited atop the tall tower in waiting for one powerful enough to challenge him. In his life, Ikarus was challenged by many human warriors, all of whom were defeated in an instant.

Even the most powerful warrior that the human race could send at him, Naomi, was gravely wounded and had to be rushed away by her companions before Ikarus could finish her off. Although Naomi was utterly defeated, she had dealt Ikarus quite a blow. His once mighty tail had been cut in half by her sword. Ikarus, impressed by such an incredible display of strength, removed himself from the tower and looked for her, but could never find the Champion.

Ikarus returned to his tower after ten years of searching, as he had given her up as one of the dead. Almost immediately after he had returned to his tower, tired from his journey, the God of Wind, Zephyrus, showed his face and challenged Ikarus to a battle to the death. Ikarus refused three times, and on the third, Zephyrus attacked him. With a swift strike, Ikarus batted away the God of Wind and crushed him under his foot. The other Gods did not dare show their faces to Ikarus or to any dragon after that incident, in humiliation of Zephyrus' blunder.

After resting for three full years, Ikarus finally began to accept challenges from the humans and the gods once more. Right after that, Ikarus' precious jewel was stolen by a thief who belonged to a group of mercenaries. Grand chaos and destruction followed such an event, Ikarus followed them and breathed fire down upon all of Ermith, chasing those who had stolen his treasure. All of Ermith's forests were burned down in an instant by the black flames, and the cities of old and new were destroyed in a single day.

Ikarus' actions got so out of hand, the gods were forced to intervene. The God of Creation, Zenus, as well as the Goddess of Vengeance, Megaera, came and stopped Ikarus, forcing him to go back to his tower. Megaera dealt with the mercinaries, who were still alive by some strange magic, making them her eternal slaves. Zenus reversed all of creation and brought back all of the destroyed cities, as well as restored the lives of those humans who were lost in Ikarus' great rampage.

The Goddess of Water, Hurona, was commissioned to guard Ikarus and his jewel, lest he go into another fit of rage and destroy the world a second time. Ikarus then resumed accepting challengers, who were all inspected by Hurona before allowed to enter Ikarus' tower. At this point, the entire human race held a great fear and reverence for the mighty dragon. No one wished to challenge him any longer, fearing that he may go on another rampage and destroy the world a second time.

Ikarus became impatient with the humans, but he could not attack them without provocation, lest he wish to be slaughtered by the Goddess of Vengeance. And so, instead of attacking a human, he sought one of the gods. Determined to show his strength, he chose to fight the God of Technology, Alexander. Alexander was simply on his way to the cookie jar, because he felt like having a delicious, freshly-made cookie that evening. Suddenly, the home Alexander was residing in burst apart in a flash of black fire and razor-sharp talons, revealing the huge, flying form of Ikarus, roaring for a match.

Alexander refused, simply stating that he wished to have a cookie before his evening ended, but Ikarus persisted, much like Zephyrus had done to him. Caving in, Alexander quickly set up a place for him and Ikarus to fight to the death. The fight lasted six years, neither side showing any signs of stopping or giving up. Both were growing tired, but Ikarus was known for his massive amount of stamina and energy, and Alexander was known for having a few tricks up his sleeve.

However, all battles must have an end, and Alexander had finally spotted Ikarus' one true weak point, and struck it with all his might, killing Ikarus instantly. The mighty dragon, Ikarus of the Celestial Tower, had finally fallen to the hands of Alexander, the God of Technology. And so ends the tale of Ikarus."

~

You turn the last page and see that there are still a few pages left, some of which was scribbled on in an unknown language. Confused, you take a closer look.

It reads "Vir Seeken Lisnteni, Alexander."

Perhaps there is someone you should ask who knows about different languages what this phrase means...or perhaps there is a book somewhere in the library that can do that for you. Regardless, you close the book and return it to it's proper place on the shelf, wondering if the other books are any good...

Looking through the various books on the shelf, you find that there is a rather old book sitting on the shelf, it's cover barely managing to hold itself together, and a dusty spine that seemed that it would split the moment you touched it. Picking up the book with care, you notice that it has no title on the front. Intrigued, you open the book to find the print inside faded to a point that it's very hard to read. The lights in the library brighten, so that you can read this old book. You're immediately hooked and can't put the book down.

~The Legend of Heshiram~

Heshiram was once the mightiest of all dragons, as well as the first being to come into existence. It was Heshiram who brought forth the very forms of life itself, giving birth to one known as Zenus, the God of Creation, who then in turn went to create a legion of servants for himself, along with a partner that was given to him, also known as the Goddess of Disaster, Jupiter. Zenus and Jupiter together created Megaera, the Goddess of Vengeance. Heshiram felt fit to leave these three gods in charge of the universe that she created, and so the great dragon went to sleep, having been exhausted from creating such powerful beings.

For ten thousand years, Heshiram slept in the Cave of Dreams, protected from the very beings that she created by an impenetrable force field. Such was the power of the legendary beast, who existed before existence began. When Heshiram woke, Zenus had gone on to take control of all things in his place, along with sealing Jupiter. Heshiram was enraged with Zenus, and stripped away all of his godly powers, turning him into a mere human and sealing his power within a blade, which was then given back to Zenus, who had to figure out how to regain his powers before his now-mortal life ended.

Heshiram, in order to bring back her order, gave birth to other dragons, who quickly spread out Heshiram's reign of power over the gods and the worlds that were created by Heshiram. Along with dragons, Heshiram created beings of all kinds, beasts of the day and beasts of the night and beasts of the sky and sea, as well as humans.

Heshiram, once again tired from creating all things, left the reign of her universe to the dragons, who were much more powerful than any god. As Heshiram slept in the Cave of Dreams, Zenus managed to regain his powers in full. Zenus then began to seek out Heshiram, in order to kill her. Zenus found Heshiram's sleeping place, but it was guarded by the most powerful dragon Heshiram had created.

Zenus, however, was a crafty god, and set upon this dragon the entire league of gods that he had created with Megaera, and managed to kill the guard dragon along with Heshiram, taking the ancient dragon's life as she slept in her cave. And so began the war of Dragons and Gods.

~

Slightly stunned, you place the book back from where it came. Perhaps there were more stories about this war that could tell the entire story from the dragon's perspective. And perhaps, somewhere in the library, was the account of the god's story. So many possibilities, and plenty of time to browse through the ancient texts.
