Theme Song

The first year at this school taught Sariska "Star" Eternal many things. For one, assassins and spies were not that different. Many graduates of this school go on to become spymasters or agents working under the spymasters of the world, while others go into the military, using their skills for their country. However, those graduates of the School of Advanced Assassination take away one thing that boot camps and military training camps do not.

This one thing is a peculiar ability, to assist them in performing assassinations. The scientists of the school labor long and hard, creating medicines that give such abilities to the students. The possibilities of an ability are quite vast, but limited. Sariska's own ability borders on the impossible. But somehow, the scientists created a pill for her, which she must take in order to gain access to her ability. She is restricted to one pill per day, due to the immense dangers associated with the drug's side effects.

Others have granted themselves powers of invisibility or total silence. Still others can use vibrations in the air to move certain objects or create distractions. The possibilities for assassins are truly vast, and it is only at this school that such things are learned. Graduates have a choice to use their abilities for their country, or go on with their lives without them.

Sariska's previous knowledge of poisons and acidic concoctions, as well as her harsh family training, before enrolling in the school assisted her in surviving her first year, which was surprisingly brutal for only a first year. Sariska and a few other of her classmates managed to survive, Sariska with top marks in most aspects of education. Sariska would not be caught off-guard for her second year.

[~]

Sariska sat on the altar of an abandoned church on the westernmost part of campus, also the most deserted part. The run-down building of worship had seen better days. The stained glass window sported many holes from years of neglect and vandalism. The wooden floorboards were crusted with rot and broken in some places. Rats made their nests beneath the floor, their tiny noses quivering as they smelled the presence of Sariska, her body giving off a faint scent of vanilla and lilac.

Sariska's golden hair was silky smooth, reaching only to her shoulders. A dark blue cap covered most of the top of her head, with some space beneath to hide a small collection of lock picks. Sariska's cold brown eyes inspected the tan, acoustic guitar in her long, thin arms. Her dark blue jacket covered her arms, masking the powerful muscles beneath. The checkered skirt was the only thing she wore that was girly. Her chest was covered by a buttoned white shirt and by her jacket.

White sneakers hung off the altar Sariska sat on, just barely off the ground. Sariska sat up with her back completely straight, as a proper woman would. At the moment, she only tuned her guitar, tightening or loosening the strings in silence. Occasionally she would strum the guitar, then go back to tuning. Years of practice made her ears sharper than most others. She could detect variances and subtleties in pitch and sound, and identify them accurately.

For a moment, Sariska stopped and turned her head up, to look at the cracked wooden doors that she purposely left open, for Sariska was a careful assassin. As if on cue, a long horn wailed, the sound waves weak when they got to Sariska. The sound made the corners of her lips twitch, the ghost of a smile in her eyes.

"Seems like the fresh blood has arrived," Sariska thought aloud, with full confidence that no one could hear her musical tones. She strummed her guitar again, the sound to her liking. "I wonder how many have already died."

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Kurio Tue May 22, 2012 8:28 pm

Lawlet, or L, had been sitting on the train to the school of assassination for several hours when he finally reached the academy. He was relieved to step off the train after being surrounded by his soon to be classmates for several hours. It was rather stressful since from his first impressions of them he didn't really like any of the people. Especially not after several people died from arguments turning violent during the ride here. Those people were idiots, who cared if someone accidentally spilled your drink?

As he walked toward the school at a leisurely pace L dragged behind him a large suitcase. It held most of his belongings, some clothes, and under those clothes were the disassembled parts of his rifle and three hand guns. Not to mention other items like silencers and a large amount of ammunition hidden in various compartments of the suitcase. He had managed to get his luggage by on the train, he was lucky no one had been nosy enough to try to look through his things. Now he needed to find a place to stash these weapon parts before the assembly for the freshmen started. It needed to be a place where people wouldn't be able to find easily, and it had to be a place where he could quickly get to a high place with a good view after retrieving his guns.

While he walked toward the school buildings looking for a good place to hide his weapons, L overheard a few students' conversation.

"You know the abandoned church here at this school?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

"Rumors say it's haunted."

"Seriously?"

"Yep, a kid wandered near the church and heard some strange music coming from it, he went in to look and saw a figure in the shadows. The kid died a few days later."

"Wow, scary. I ain't going near that place then."

L smiled after hearing that. It was a perfect place for his guns if everyone was too scared to go near the place. And he was never one to believe in ghosts either, so he wasn't afraid in the slightest. Now to actually find where this old abandoned church actually was.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Masquerade Tue May 22, 2012 9:00 pm

It was the day that the new meat was supposed to arrive. The platform earlier had been fairly deserted. A few of the custodians were sweeping the place up and making it look nice. No doubt they would have fun cleaning the blood out of the train. Last year hadn't been so bad, but statistics showed that freshmen violence was steadily increasing. The kids were so touchy these days. A tall boy wrapped from head to toe in black cloth walked silently across the platform. He offered curt nods to the faculty who saw him. If he was smiling, no one would have been able to see it. His emotions were unreadable. Even his eyes, one of which was obscured by the cloth wrapped around his head while the other was hidden behind a short scope of some sorts with a red lens. A year had passed since this student, Sirius, had come to the assassin school, and nobody knew what the purpose of the scope was. In fact, nobody seemed to care. There was so much mystery surrounding the fellow that nobody knew what to focus on. All they did was spread rumors and such leading to him having to be extra crafty. It was good practice, so he never complained.

The sun was awfully bright for such a dreadful day. Learning the craft of assassination was great, yes, but there were some horrid mishaps that could occur during the year including many student casualties. There were those attending the school out for their own ambitions, while others were just downright hateful, or looking for guinea pigs on which to test their skills. Sirius had always been curious about the killing and the poisoning, but the teachers made their best effort to keep testing of abilities in controlled classroom settings. However, teenagers are still teenagers, the rebellious things. Put a dagger in one's hand and you can expect someone to get stabbed at some point. Sirius calculated the number of daggers he had on his person as he strode across the platform, choosing a place off to the side where he had a decent view of the entire length. He imagined the train pulling in and the doors opening to reveal the new students. He could catch a good glimpse of them all yes.

Seven. Seven daggers. It was his favorite number. A dagger for each vice, a dagger for each virtue. He wasn't there anymore. A custodian walked by, scratching her head. She could have sworn she had seen someone standing in the place she was approaching. But there was no one there. Sirius had the capability to become 'nonexistent.' He would be invisible to the world, and people could even walk through him and not know. However, in that state, he was forced to do nothing but watch, which was his hobby...and his specialty. So, in that one spot he remained, obscured by his magic until the train arrived. He watched as each student exited the open doors of the rather elegant train. Who would associate elegance with death? Apparently someone who was running this joint. The freshmen were obviously excited. Some were already spreading rumors about the school. Some involved him. He remained unfazed by the fact and kept observing. He heard stuff about the old church. The place never interested him much, and it still didn't now. Sirius would be sure to hold his place until all of the freshmen had departed. He didn't want any of them to see him leave.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Creame Wed May 23, 2012 9:42 pm

Gazing out the window of the train, a green-haired youth tried to see how many trees they were probably passing per second, or perhaps make shapes in the clouds above. As he quickly grew tired of his game, the young man pulled a massive bag of Chex Mix from his compartment under the seat, removed the white glove from his left hand, and promptly began to eat his salty snack. An excited buzz could be heard all throughout the train, as a majority, if not all, these students were headed for a special school, a rare find around these parts. He had heard there were a few... "mishaps" on the train, but he paid it no mind and kept to himself and his snacks. It felt like a millennium and a half until the academy itself came into view as the train skid to a slow, painful stop. The brand new freshmen pooled out of the train exits and onto the boarding posts, along with the snacker, newly donned with a large tote bag on each shoulder as well as a very large rolling suitcase, containing what he thought would be enough snacks to last him at least a semester.

This was Reginald Salve, fresh new meat off the train. He stood straight and tall, surveying his new home for the rest of his high school days. His hair was an unusual shade of mint green, long and a bit windswept. Eyes were shining peridots, a darker shade of green compared to his tresses. He was dressed quite nicely; a black studded jacket over an orange button up shirt, as well as a loosely worked tie, topped off with wrinkle-less black pants and a pair of dull black shoes without shoelaces. A chain adorned with a jewel on each end laid upon his shoulders like a boa, considered more part of his fashion sense than a weapon. So this was the school that made legends? Could make you or break you? Many of the students seemed normal enough to the naked eye, but he knew many of them were much more.

Before he had arrived, his mother had given him a few words of advice. Tread softly, respect your elders, be weary of everyone - even friends, and that the only person you could trust 100% was yourself. Reginald was sure that these things applied to regular life as well, but were probably especially important here. He was sure to remember her advice and not take it for granted. After he had officially applied for the school, a few of the Salve Syndicate operatives were happy to tell a tale or two about their high school experiences, many of which sounded harsh and gruesome. He especially remembered the story of how one kid smarted off to a group of upperclassman, and the next day he was found pierced through the chest, halfway down the flagpole. Reginald mentally cringed. One of the operatives did say that if you manage to survive and make a few friends through the four years, that they're great to use as references if you need a favor or two. That was a slight plus.

The freshman stood there, unsure of what to do next exactly. Perhaps putting his things away would be the best option. Thing was he had no idea where everything was located, he hadn't been given much of a heads up, besides the stories the Syndicate told him about their days at the school. Without much idea where he was going, Reginald strode towards the school, snack bag under his arm and luggage in tow.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Masquerade Wed May 23, 2012 10:19 pm

The kids seemed to be very confused. Some seemed to have some knowledge of what to do next for they made their way to the dorms on the east side of campus. Well, that was where the male dorms were. The female dorms were located in the northwest part of the campus. Through the meaningless talk of the freshmen, he could hear the general dissent of the non-co-ed dorms, but he knew that the last thing the school needed was the students getting it on like rabbits, not that the upperclassmen didn't have special spots for a quick make-out session or more. Those students that split off to head to the dorms must have had family that had been the school and passed on what they knew of the rituals. However, Sirius knew that something more was coming, and he was right. Through his scope, he eyed the intercom system that reached even as far as the platform. He knew the network spread all over campus for special broadcasts that every student had to hear.

"Hello, new students. This is Professor Realms speaking," a rather ancient voice crackled over the intercom, loud enough for people to hear without being overbearing. It was a calm, guiding voice--something you wouldn't expect to hear at a school for assassins, but let your guard down around a voice like that and the next thing you know, your throat is slit. The speaker was Atremis Realms, a master of deception and psychological torture. He had retired from the assassination game about a decade ago and decided to teach. Before that, he had worked for the government, luring secrets out of most wanted fugitives in big criminal organizations with his expertise. Outside of that, he also set about gaining trust and luring secrets out of more important people via deception. That was what he taught at the school now--deception. He also had a higher level advanced class for psych torture, but rumor had it that the curriculum was intense and you might even lose your own mind in the course. Regardless, it had become a ritual for Atremis's calming voice to guide the new students so they wouldn't panic. The panicking could be saved for later...

"For those of you not aware, you are to make your way to the dormitories. You should have received campus maps before arrival, and some are available at the platform. Boys dorm is on the east and girls will go northwest. Your room assignments will be posted in the lobby of the main dorm building. Find your room and store you luggage...without dying of course," he said, speaking the last part about the 'dying' more lightheartedly than one would expect. "You have free time to explore the campus afterwards, but there is a freshmen orientation held in the auditorium to the left of the Central Plaza that is mandatory and takes place in exactly two hours from now. It goes without saying that those who do not show will be severely punished."

There was a bit of silence as the old man let that sink in. Sirius found the murmur of slight discomfort through the crowd of moving freshmen so familiar. It was nostalgic. He drew in a sharp breath, as if drinking it all in, though no one could hear him because he didn't exist. He waited for the rest of Realms's speech because he knew it wasn't over.

"Upperclassmen and welcome and advised to attend orientation just for friendly greetings, but your attendance is not required. You are free to go about your day as you please. You don't get many free days, so live this one up." With that, the intercom buzzed out only to come to life a few seconds later with one additional comment: "Do be sure to leave daggers, poisons, explosives, firearms, or what have you out of the friendly greetings. Remember, we have a whole year here, and we're also trying to not lose our graduation rate to our rate of casualties. Thank you."

Sirius did something beneath the cloth wrapped around his head. Was it a smile? No one would ever know, but he had to admit that being in his position was a lot more exciting this year than it was last year. Last year, he was them. Bright-eyed and eager to learn assassination, fully aware that it would be no easy task. They will have it hard. We shall see if they are any more exemplary than the classes before them... he thought as he continued to wait. There were still stragglers on the platform. There would need to be less people around before he could reveal himself.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Zerifachias Thu May 24, 2012 5:54 pm

Sariska sat, cleaning her guitar when Professor Realms came on the intercom and addressed the arriving freshmen. She could hear his voice from the abandoned church, as there was a loudspeaker just outside of the old building. For this one day, Sariska disabled all of the traps that she usually kept laid out in the building. After running into another student who was curious about the music coming from this place, Sariska didn't want to risk anyone else finding her hideout. She managed to silence and eventually assassinate the person who found her, which sparked a new rumor that effectively kept every other curious student away.

Sariska disabled all of her traps because the vibrations from the speaker was enough to set quite a few of them off. There were a few days that she could plan ahead for and save the materials for her traps, but one day last year there was a surprise announcement, and many of her traps were set off, forcing her to replace them. But today, the loudspeakers would be used multiple times, so Sariska had to settle for leaving them disabled for the whole day.

Sariska smiled when Professor Realms finished with telling everyone to leave any weapons behind. Last year, only the fools followed that rule. Sariska managed to sneak in one of her knives with her, keeping it hidden in her shoe. It wasn't in the best place, but it was also the most inconspicuous spot on her body. She wondered how many freshmen would obey Professor Realms this year.

Hearing footsteps outside, Sariska strummed her guitar and began humming in a low tone, her musical voice echoing in the empty church. She continued this, humming to a song of her own creation, made for this exact purpose. To frighten other students away. It was effective enough, and the footsteps outside quickly turned around and fled. An evil glint sparked in Sariska's eyes. The freshmen this year were not exactly the bravest of the bunch.

Sariska got up off the altar and placed her guitar down on it gently. It was time to leave.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Kurio Thu May 24, 2012 6:55 pm

L was on his way toward the church when he heard the voice of one of the teachers over the intercom. The information all boiled down to the fact that He had two hours to find a place to hide his guns then to find his dorm and unpack before heading to the orientation. He might be cutting it a bit close, since from the map L could see that his dorm was on the exact opposite side of the school from the abandoned church. And that warning the teacher had made about not showing up to the orientation. Being in a school of assassins L immediately assumed the 'severe punishment' the teacher mentioned was death. It would be rather disgraceful to die on the first day.

As he approached the church L made sure none of the other students saw him. It would seem odd for a freshman with a map of the school to not be at his dorm right now. And L wanted to make sure his guns were well hidden with the least amount of suspicion. He waited for one of the students who had wandered near the church to be out of sight before heading to the front doors, which he was surprised to see them opened. Generally an abandoned building like this would be boarded off to prevent people from entering, did someone break into it already?

L became cautious as he took a few steps into the building. The floorboards creacked as he walked, announcing his presence to whoever was in the building. He stopped when he noticed something that looked like a person standing in front of the altar of the church.

"Who's there?" L asked, not quite sure if that was an actual person or just the shadow of something else.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Zerifachias Thu May 24, 2012 7:29 pm

Of all the days to not set her traps. Not that they would have been useful anyway. Sariska grimaced, seeing a boy in the doorway. The lighting of the church was very different from the entrance to where she stood. She was in nearly complete darkness, while the entrance had only a slight haze of light that came through the surrounding forest. Sariska's eyes were used to the darkness by now, so she could see the boy fairly well.

Scowling, Sariska contemplated her next move as the boy spoke out to her. He could only see a dark figure, which was good. The distance from him to her was roughly 10 yards or so. She could definitely sprint that distance and take him out before he saw her.

Her mind set, Sariska quickly drew the knife from her shoe and sprinted towards the boy, leaping through the air and kneeing him in the chest, forcing him to the ground. She quickly pinned his arms down with her knees, making them useless, and pressing the edge of her blade against his throat. Growling, Sariska bent down to hiss in his ear, "You picked a bad place to come first, new blood." She automatically assumed this person was a freshman. No other student would so unwittingly put themselves in a position so vulnerable to attack.

Sariska curved her knife so it wouldn't cut down into the boy's neck as much when she applied more pressure. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you."

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Kurio Thu May 24, 2012 7:53 pm

L wasn't sure of exactly what happened, he just saw the figure move toward him and before he knew it he was pinned down on the wooden floor of the church. He was unable to move his arms, his head hurt from hitting the wooden floorboard, and there was a knife held at his neck that had made a very small cut on his skin. A think red line appeared on the side of his neck, the cut was bleeding but nowhere near the point of being dangerous. The figure with the knife, who he assumed wouldn't hesitate to kill him right now, was a different story.

So good news, at least it wasn't a ghost. Bad news, L would very easily die at this very moment if he didn't pick his words carefully. He should have had one of his guns ready just in case, but in this situation it wouldn't help him. His arms were pinned and even if they weren't he might not be able to get the girl off of him. She seemed to have quite a bit of physical strength.

Seeing the girl reminded him of staring down a wild animal protecting its territory. Kind of like how his neighbor's dog would bark at him whenever he passed their house. It would be best not to provoke her lest he wished to be short a few pints of blood as well as a throat.

"Right, I'm not planning on causing any trouble or anything. I was just looking for a safe place to hide some of my luggage." L replied, trying not to move his head at all to prevent the knife from digging deeper into his skin, "I'm sorry if I happened to intrude on something."

"You're not making a good first impression," Sariska said icily, glaring down at the boy. It would be so easy to slit his throat and be done with the whole thing. She wouldn't have to worry about him running off and telling other students about her hideout. In fact, she was just about to slit his throat when a thought crossed through her mind.

This boy...this foolish little child was looking for a hiding spot. She could let him go with that in mind, for if he told others of her hiding spot, he would also be telling them his own. So she would be safe in that regard. But still, Sariska wasn't exactly in a sharing mood at the moment. This boy had made a very amateur mistake in coming here unarmed and ill-equipped for an ambush. But perhaps if she tested his abilities, he might be useful to her.

Sariska removed her blade from the boys throat and tossed the knife in the air, catching it as it fell back down into her palm. She glared down at the boy without blinking, the gears in her head turning at a rapid pace. Sariska didn't want to let this boy go, but she also didn't feel like hiding his corpse. And chances were he didn't have the kind of materials she needed for traps.

"Fine," Sariska finally said, her voice sharp and commanding as her glare lightened slightly. "You do something for me, and I'll let you hide your luggage here for now. If you refuse, you die. If you fail, you die. If you succeed...well, we'll see."

"I'll accept." L nodded.

He spoke quickly and didn't use many words, he didn't want to accidentally say something to offend her and change her mind. It wasn't like he had much of a choice. He was still pinned down without a way to fight back and even if he could the girl would just use the knife to slit his throat. A lose-lose situation, L cursed at himself in his head for getting into this predicament. But at least this way L wouldn't have to worry about dying right this moment.

"So what do you want me to do?" he asked, still trying not to make any body movements just in case.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Zerifachias Thu May 24, 2012 8:47 pm

Good boy, Sariska thought to herself, a ghost of a smile appearing in her eyes. It would be nice to have a dog of her own for awhile. She may have him bark on command whenever she gave him an order. In fact, she would command such a thing now, but not until after she gave him other orders. There was still the task of creating a job for this boy.

"For now, you will hide your luggage at the top of the tower," Sariska said, jerking her head towards a broken door that was hanging by one of its hinges. A spiral staircase leading up and down could be seen. "The basement and the altar here are forbidden grounds. If you go near either, you die." Sariska didn't want him touching her guitar with his greasy fingers. Nor did she want him to stumble into her brewing room, where she stored some of her ingredients for potent poisons and acids.

"You will attend the orientation, as you are required to do. Take a weapon with you, unless you want to be killed in Central Plaza." There were many places in Central Plaza that were enclosed and hidden away from the wandering eye. Silenced pistols are an assassin's best friend in those spots. "I will be there as well, and as a warning: I can read lips, and will be watching yours. Speak of this place or of me and you die."

Sariska now shuffled back and stood, grabbing the boy by his collar with both hands and hoisting his entire body up off the ground. She held him in the air for a moment, glaring at him. "When the orientation is over, come back here. I will test you." Sariska shoved him forward, allowing him to stumble to his feet. "You will refer to me as Star and bark if you understand, like a good dog would."

Well L didn't exactly take pleasure in being ordered around like this, but at least he's still alive. The girl seemed to be one to not waste any words, she was rather straightforward and to the point. It wasn't really a bad thing because now unlike most of the conversations he's had L didn't have to filter out all the useless stuff. L was pleased with how one thing turned out though, he was allowed to hide his guns in the tower. It would prove to be a perfect spot to shoot with his rifle from. The church was far enough away that the other students would barely be able to hear the gunshot.

L's optimism took a 180 degree turn when she ordered him to bark, like a dog. Under any other circumstance it would be unthinkable for him to do something like that. But given the situation right now, it was either follow her every order or die, even if the orders were humiliating.

"Yes, yes. Arf arf." L said, looking to the side as he felt every bit of his dignity leaving him. At least no one else was watching.

Sariska's eyes narrowed dangerously at hearing the boy's tone. That wasn't good enough. "Put some character in your bark, dog," Sariska said, stepping back more towards the altar. If he did have a weapon on him, she would see him pull it out. And if he did, she would just have to throw her knife at him. The boy saw her knife, so he should automatically assume Sariska knew how to use it.

Sariska sat on the altar, just on the edge so she didn't bump her guitar. "Get to work. You only have an hour and a half to hide your luggage and get to the orientation. The punishment is severe if you do not attend." It would be safe to leave him be, for now. Sariska would place a few tripwires down near the door to the basement. If he went down there, he would get a very...unpleasant surprise.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

"Arf arf, woof woof." L tried again, knowing full well that displeasing the girl would result in him having a severe case of bloody neck.

L cursed under his breath and turned to pick up his suitcase, which had fell onto the floor when he was tackled and pinned down. His clothes should have cushioned the impact for his weapon parts, nothing should be crooked or out of place. He went toward the staircase leading up, only an hour and a half, he shouldn't take that long, right?

The top of the tower was a bit more spacious than L thought. It was a lot like a balcony. The metal railings had rusted but seemed sturdy enough when L tested them out. They would be able to support the weight of his rifle without problem, and the height of the location made it a perfect spot for sniping. Without wasting any time L opened his suitcase, digging within his clothing and other luggage for the actually important stuff. Once he had found all the parts as well as the ammunition he brought, he went to quickly assemble and load a single handgun fitted with a silencer. The other two as well as his rifle will remain as they are for now. He had enough practice to be able to put together the rifle in a minute or so and the handguns in less than 30 seconds each. While someone not very skilled and knowledgeable about firearms wouldn't be able to make heads or tails with all the pieces. This way he wouldn't have to worry about anyone stealing his weapons, if they ever find it. The ammunition were placed in small plastic cases, all piled up near the gun parts making a miniature mountain beside the rifle and a larger mountain beside the two handguns.

L then picked up from his luggage a brown jacket and put it on. He placed the one assembled handgun in a holster on the inside of the jacket. A rather crude way to hide a weapon, but it was effective and he could access it easily since it was already loaded. Then within his shirt pocket was an extra case of ammunition to use under the circumstances which he would have to reload without going back to the church.

Now that he was set to leave L closed his suitcase and hurried down the stairs. He looked at his watch, he didn't take too long, only a little more than half an hour. He still had fifty minutes or so until the orientation started.

Click.

The laptop bounced as the train began to lurch to a stop, the owner of the personal computer shutting it down as the vehicle slowed. Having slipped the computer into her bag, the girl who had been using it for the entire ride replacing it with a small videocamera. She kept it closed, however, as the train finally reached a halt. She grabbed her bag and slung it over her opposite shoulder, also reaching down and grabbing a fair sized suitcase.

She made her way off the train, green orbs just as expressionless as her face as some welcoming announcement reached her. "Go to your dorm. Get settled. Go to Orientation." She thought to herself as she began to move towards the northwest. She did not bother to listen to her 'classmates' as they crowded into groups and began to spread rumors and form their own alliances. She just continued en route to her dormitory and opened the camera she had taken out earlier, smiling ever so slightly as she put the device to her eye and the inner screen flickered to life.

A gnat detached from the train and began to fly off, away from the vehicle and in the direction of the plaza. While the girl continued walking the small bug flew around the campus, taking on the direction the girl asked of it as she pushed the small control stick on her camera. There was not much to say from what she observed, it was typical first day routine despite this being anything but a typical school. However, there was one thing out of place. A young man, was making his way not towards the dormitory but instead towards an abandoned church building.

"Interesting..." She thought, directing the bug to follow the boy. Keeping the bug as far as possible without causing a loss of picture, the girl's smile spread a little as she was able to make out the boy being forced to a stop. Though she could not see very well, she assumed there was someone else there that had made him stop. Quickly tapping a button, she smiled just a little bit more as some low audio began to play through the camera; a recording that she would be able to take a closer look at later.

Causing the gnat to land, the girl lowered the camera and let it sit there to hear out the conversation. Instead she continued onto the dorms and grimaced upon finding her name. Reihai Magatsu - Room 114. Reihai. Storing her disgust the Reihai, or Rei as she preferred, began to make her way to her dorm, checking on the bug only once she was inside. The boy was gone and whoever had dealt with him had disappeared as well. Pressing another button, the camera made a slight ding as the video feed from the bug stored itself in the internal memory of the system. "I'll watch it later." She thought, pressing another button labeled delete and watched as the picture went fuzzy and then the screen turned blue.

The gnat malfunctioned as a small overload of electricity ran through it and it burst to pieces, scattered by a slight breeze.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Creame Sun May 27, 2012 5:49 pm

Upon hearing the old voice over the campus-wide speakers, Reginald stopped to listen. What an interesting message to first say to your students. 'Make it to your dormroom without dying first', huh? Challenge accepted. He had no map (he probably put it in his pockets or something and had forgotten about it), but instead followed the directions the Professor had provided. Plus, all the other male freshmen were heading in one direction, so that was a pretty big hint. Upon finding his room door with his name on it, he found he had a hard time forcing his luggage through the doorway, but eventually did so without anyone else's help. Closing the door, he pushed the rolling case to the corner and unzipped it slowly. What seemed like a mountain of junk food and snacks came cascading out like an avalanche, packages upon packages of food, along with the occasional shiny weapon mixed in.

The young man put the rest of his bags down and wolfed down a handful his salty snack. So, the Professor said to make sure not to use weapons. But this was a school for assassination, why leave your goodies at home? As long as I don't flaunt them around, I'll be okay, right? Reginald scratched his head, confirming the presence of his butterfly knife tucked away under his hat. Alright, good. He always had his chain, too. For easy access, he put another knife in his bag of snacks, hidden under all of the salted Chex pieces and rye chips. Yum.

There was still two hours left to burn, and he didn't necessarily feel like wandering around a campus that he wasn't familiar with, especially since he had misplaced his map. Taking out the remainder of his stuff from his bags, Reginald stuffed the rest of his belongings in drawers and storage, and put the rest of the stuff on his bed to deal with later on in the day. Regi yawned, reaching into his pocket (hey, a crumpled-up map!), and pulling out his time piece. Alright, he was still in the green with his time, there should be no reason he would be late for this assembly. Grabbing his family sized bag of snack and locking his door, Reginald made his way towards Central Plaza.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Masquerade Sun May 27, 2012 11:33 pm

The announcement had seemed to work quite well. With a goal in mind, the freshmen began to all depart the platform until only a few stubborn ones remained, but Sirius sighed as he realized that was as good as it would get. He was standing there, a single gloved hand on his hip as if he had been there all along. A rather tall girl had appeared nearby him and stopped. Was she a freshmen? She was really quiet. Why hadn't Sirius seen her? She was wearing heavy clothes even though it wasn't really cold out. A beige fur coat adorned her body with a matching furry scarf and cap. Black sunglasses rested gently on her cute nose, masking her eyes from sight. She had beige heels on too, which was an oddity of a color for heels...granted Sirius wasn't exactly a professional in the fashion department.

The woman turned to face him, and the voice sounded extremely familiar. "Tch, well, my darling Sirius. Glad to see you again," the female said to him, looking straight into his scope-covered eye from behind her shades. He expected the voice to sound delighted, but he could hear the tint of venom that emanated from within. It practically gave the woman away, which was most likely her intent, for the woman was none other than Professor Marilyn Foxglove, a so-called 'Master of Disguise.' Not one to talk to herself, rumors of her humble beginnings as a waitress were spread around back when she was around 20 or so. It was then that she started using the waitress cover in assassinations, for she had quite the skill with knives and traps as well. After a couple of years, it was said she traveled the world studying anthropology and sociology, along with some general cosmetology and fashion subjects. Everyone thought she was normal, but when she returned to the US, she had gained enough knowledge to be anyone she wanted. There was no running from her, for if you trusted just a single person, there was a nine out of ten chance that it would be her, disguised as that person and just waiting to kill you. Well, those were the rumors anyway. Stuff overheard from outside the teacher's lounge in passing. Regardless of how she got to where she was now, Marilyn was definitely great at what she did, granted it was hard to admire her because she was kind of...well, mean.

"Professor Foxglove. A pleasure to see you again as well," Sirius replied in his monotonous voice, ignoring the hatred underlying the professor's tone. To point it out would do nothing more than earn a dagger in his throat. He had already survived a year of the introductory disguise classes with her as the professor, and he hoped this year would be the same. He worried about the freshmen though...not like he cared, but it was always a gory mess whenever one of them acted up. Annoying, really.

"You and your watching. Always were an intriguing young man, hmph. I know I'm one of the teachers, but better watch your back. I could have been anyone," she warned him, a sinister grin forming on her face before she began to walk away. "See you in class, Sirius." She waved a gloved hand at him before disappearing on the path out of the platform, the same one he would be taking himself soon enough to get to the auditorium to find a good spot to watch everything from.

However, before walking along the mostly vacant platform and out onto the path, he made sure to give Professor Foxglove plenty of time to get on her way to wherever she might have been headed. When he reached Central Plaza, he noted there were quite a few people out and about. The freshmen were easy to tell apart because of their wide eyes and frequent consultations of the maps they held. Staying the shadows, Sirius slunk over to the auditorium entrance. Before opening the door, he scanned the handles with his scope. There seemed to be no electric currents or dangerous foreign substances on it. If there were, it wouldn't be the first time he encountered a rigged handle designed to give a non-lethal electrocution or cover the hands in a poison that gave rise to painful sores. Opening the door, he jetted inside, stepping to the side of the entrance to gaze out over the lobby from behind a column. It was still dark. After all, there was still around an hour or so left. He used the darkness to his advantage and entered the main body of the auditorium where the stage and seats were. Instead of taking a seat, Sirius dashed down the aisle with tremendous speed and scaled one of the columns, disappearing in an instant with the use of his magic.

Some of the freshmen had already arrived and took some seats. A few wondered what on earth just ran down the aisle. One suggested it was just the bad lighting. A couple of professors appeared on the stage and began to talk. The lights slowly increased in brightness, but he would not be revealed regardless. It only served to increase his scope of sight. More early birds started to arrive. They probably thought it wasn't safe to just wander around. Smart, but not very bold are we? Sirius thought solemnly as he shook his head for a mere moment before keeping his sight focused on the stage. He had to hug the column to stay on it, and he peered his head around the body of the column to see the stage. It wasn't exactly comfortable, but it was good practice in the case he had to do something like this in the future.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

An hour before showtime. Sariska looked down at her phone, careful to avoid pressing any buttons on it. The device was rigged with a powerful explosive that could blow a person's hand off. Depending on which buttons are pushed. It still showed the time, which was convenient for Sariska. After the boy left, Sariska headed downstairs to her little lab.

Upon entering the lab, you wouldn't see much, because of the sheer darkness. The light switch on the wall closest to the entrance was coated in a corrosive acid that didn't like human flesh. Beside it were two other light switches. One of them went to an explosive just beneath her feet. The other turned the lights on. Sariska had spent most of her first semester rigging these traps, she wanted no one in these places.

On the desk in the corner was a small television set, wired up to a camera to the tower. The camera used hardly any electricity and was very small, so this boy would have to be extremely observant in order to catch it. If he could hear the hum of electricity like Sariska could, he would have to pay close attention to it.

Next to the television set sat a small, interesting device that her grandfather sent her for her second year as a reward for surviving. This little device could interfere with radio waves in a small radius. Whenever Sariska wasn't worried about cameras, she would turn this on, and any radio signal within the radius of 20 yards would be jammed. Sariska didn't have to worry about her cellphone, the explosive couldn't be set off from the loss or gain of a radio wave. It was buttons only.

Sariska worked in the dark, quickly finding what she was searching for. A thin, nearly invisible wire and a small flask of acid. The tiny vial, when broken, would send out a heavy mist that had enough strength to knock out an elephant. And fast.

After setting up the trap, Sariska took another look at her phone for the time. 30 more minutes and counting. Traps always seemed to take a lot of time to set up.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Kurio Tue May 29, 2012 4:39 pm

L took around ten, fifteen minutes or so to reach his dorm and finding his room wasn't too difficult either. But when he opened the door to what he thought would be his own room, L was rather displeased when he noticed there was already luggage in the room. Most of it still haven't been stored yet. From what L saw, he expected his roommate to be an absolute pig. Who carries that many snacks to an assassination school? What is he going to do? Drown them in potato chips? L sighed and tossed his suitcase beside the vacant bed, he could unpack later. Right now he was getting a bit short on time, he needed to get to that auditorium place.

L took out the map he had in his pocket and unfolded it. The auditorium was near the center of the school. Star said to bring a weapon, even though the announcement said not to. But it was best to be safe with that regard, then if someone tries to kill him he could at least fight back if he had his gun. With the rest of his luggage dealt with, L left for the auditorium. He checked his watch, another twenty minutes left, he had enough time. Once he got to the auditorium L would pick a spot that's hard to notice, that way maybe Star wouldn't be able to see him just in case he accidentally said something he shouldn't.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

With the video file in tow and ready for later viewing and a still ample amount of time to get to Orientation, Rei chose instead to sit on one of the beds. "Hope I don't get a roommate." she thought bitterly. Roommates were horrible in her opinion; having to share your living space and let someone into your life daily was frustrating. Not to mention in this school it was life threatening. Not having a roommate would be the biggest blessing she could ever receive while here... well other than not being killed it was.

Time seemed to pass relatively quickly with next to nothing to do, something Rei felt would not be the case later on. Not because time would pass slowly but she doubted that she would ever not have something to do soon. Orientation would prove just how accurate she was in her assumption, though she figured that she was correct already. After all things were bound to get interesting as soon as the whole 'first day' routine was over; then she would have plenty to do even if the school itself took up only a little bit of her time.

It was not long before she had to leave her dorm though to make it on time for the new classmens' meeting; Rei left, only grabbing a cellphone from her bag before doing so, and made her way over to the auditorium. With her typically casual pace she arrived just on time and was quick to sit herself down in the very back before the Headmaster could begin his little speech.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Creame Tue Jul 10, 2012 7:21 pm

Reginald crossed over Central Plaza with a slight spring in his step. Regardless of all the nasty rumors he had heard of this place, he was especially excited to start his high school life. Middle school had been somewhat boring, and he wasn't allowed to talk about the Syndicate's exploits with anyone at school, not even his best friends. They were all surprised and sad when they found out he was being enrolled in basically boarding school, but he hadn't told them it was a school for assassination. He was probably never going to see them again, even if he did survive this place and graduate... Well, whatever. It wasn't like they were super tight BFFs or anything.

Upon nearing the Auditorium, Reginald saw that there was a trickle of students pouring into the room. From inside, a small buzz of noise and voices filled the air, with all kinds of freshmen. Briefly, the green-haired lad wondered what drove each of these kids to enroll in this school. Were they forced? Was it their own choice? Did they enjoy assassination? Was it interesting to them? What exactly were they trying to prove? Again, meaningless thoughts to think for another day. Reginald glanced over the crowd, looking for a place to sit. He saw that there wasn't very many students in the front, and decided to place himself up there. That way, he wasn't too near anyone, and he could get a good look at his instructors. Walking up towards the front of the room was a bit awkward; he could feel a few people staring at him as he did so. Without so much as a bat of an eyelash, Regi plopped down into a front row chair and popped a rye chip into his mouth.

The School of Advanced Assassinations Empty Re: The School of Advanced Assassinations

Post by Zerifachias Wed Jul 11, 2012 3:52 am

Sariska could hear the light murmur of talking from outside the auditorium. This batch of freshmen seemed a bit braver than the last one. Of course, it was only the first day. These kids would be scared shitless in just a few minutes, once the headmaster, Cyril, spoke to them. She remembered his speech from last year perfectly. How could she not? He killed an unarmed freshman during it, though no one else suspected him. They just thought that the poor kid keeled over from a heart attack. No, Sariska was confident Cyril did it, though she couldn't pinpoint how he did it.

Sariska kicked open the door, startling a few new kids close to it, who immediately scattered upon seeing her. Sophomores were distinguished from freshmen by a small red badge that sat over their chest. Some chose to wear it, others didn't. It was an optional thing, but Sariska didn't feel like being mistaken for a freshmen. She walked around the backside of the auditorium, finding a good, isolated area where she could watch and be watched.

Right on cue, the lights in the auditorium dimmed and the stage lights brightened on a podium in the center of the hardwood platform. A flag hung over the podium with the school's symbol, a poison-filled vial and a knife. It wasn't much, but the meaning of it was easy to understand.

From the left-hand side of the stage, a tall, dark-skinned man walked out and headed right for the podium. He had thick curls of mostly gray hair and eyes as black as the night sky. He wore a black suit and red tie, a style that some would see as professional, but for this man, it was almost threatening. The crowd was silenced almost immediately as the man turned to face them all. This was Cyril. A master of assassination in his mid-fifties and the founder of the school. Not much is known about this man besides the fact that he used to be an investigator for the FBI and one hell of a interrogator. Some think he used dirty tricks and blackmail to get what he wanted, but then he wouldn't be a master assassin, now would he? No, he followed the law and never once laid hands on or threatened those he questioned. That's why he was so good at this assassination game, if you could call it that.

Cyril looked over the crowd of freshmen and the scattered bits of students from other years. He stood there for a good five minutes, looking at them and not saying a word. Any small rabble that might have been going on during this time vanished, until not even Sariska could hear anything but breathing. The weight of the air in the room seemed to grow with every second that passed in silent.

Cyril took in a deep breath, which seemed to empty the heavy air in the room, letting the students breathe. It was like he was a terrible god, that only allowed you to breathe at certain intervals, then placed a heavy weight on your chest to prevent you from doing anything besides wait for the next chance. If you missed it, you would likely die. Finally, Cyril began to speak, "Good afternoon and welcome to you, freshmen, and welcome back to all surviving students." Surviving students. The power of choice words would not be lost on this crowd. It implied that students died last year, and they did. But it also implied that you were practically forced to come back. There was no escaping this school. "My name is Cyril Zimmerman, I am the headmaster, or president, of this school of assassination. Some professors here will have you believe that this school is a forgiving one. I am here to tell you the opposite. This school will devour you, if you are not properly prepared to face the challenges it throws your way."

"Those of you who came unarmed, we know who you are," Cyril continued, looking around the crowd. A few freshmen flinched. Cyril wasn't the only one who noticed, Sariska did, and she was sure plenty of upperclassmen were looking too. Cyril looked down at the front row. Only two students were seated so close to the stage. One of them seemed like a big eater, a bag of chips in his hands. "Those of you who come with bravery, whether deserved or foolish, will be tested the hardest of all students, for you draw the most attention to yourself." Cyril seemed to be directing this mostly at the boy with the chips in his hands. "And those of you who hide from the crowd to watch and observe unnoticed," Cyril looked up a little, as if seeing something near the ceiling. Sariska followed his gaze and frowned. No action of Cyril's was ever wasted. Something, or someone, was up near the rafters.

Sariska remembered seeing a particular boy, in her own class, who didn't stick out very well. She hardly remembered what he looked like, he was a mystery. Almost like he was just clinging to existence, disappearing at will. His name...what was his name? Shit, Sariska cursed herself, I can't remember. Damn, I need to pay more attention to him. Maybe I can make my dog spy on him later. Cyril must be able to see the boy though, or at least sense him. He wouldn't be much of a master assassin if he couldn't see a boy less than half his age.

Sariska felt Cyril's eyes on her now, and she returned his gaze with all the vigor she could muster. It was very hard to focus when this man stared at you. A tightness in the chest prevented breathing. The very air seemed too stale to suck in anyway. Once you locked eyes, you couldn't break the gaze. This was fear. Something that only Cyril could stir up in Sariska.

"Some of you who come from strong families, and inherit those traits," Cyril said. He was talking to her, Sariska realized. "Those of you whose pride is too strong, you will meet your end in due time." A cold shiver ran through Sariska's spine. She hated this man. He knew her weakness all too well. He knew it better than any other because he suffered from the same weakness. Pride. Overconfidence. The only difference between Cyril and Sariska was experience.

"Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, you may now greet the Freshmen," Cyril spoke now to the crowd, his long gaze with Sariska broken. "The initiation ceremony has begun." Seconds after Cyril walked off the stage, a piercing scream resonated through the auditorium from the left side. One down. Three hundred and ninety-nine to go.
