Waking up
*looks around*
Where do I begin?
Oh, right, introductions!
Helloooooo!
I am Allindur. (at least that is my screen name and I'll stick to it until the worlds turn brown, wither and die...or people suddenly become capable of pronouncing my real name properly)
Ok, I'm horribly clumsy at this introduction thing, so let's just state a few useful things about me and if any good soul can ask whatever else is useful, I'd be so thankful I'd owe said soul a brownie.
I'm a 20 years old Biology student who has almost all of it's free time siphoned by college. My personal way of dealing with it is taking away some sleep and eating time and making it into free time. All thanks to our friends coffee and chocolate.
I've played RPG for 5 years now, did some amateur acting for 3 years, and do some writing on free time, so even though I have few times engaged in hard role playing, I'm a big lover of it and want to try and improve.
I'm a big fan of tabletop RPG who has a deep, utter and murderous hate for the sentence "[insert mage's name here] waves his/her hands in complex movements while uttering weird words".
I used to be a hardcore PC gamer, but then I took a WoW and a Skyrim to the knee. (I miss variety...)
Last but very important: I like using big chunks of text when possible, and filling them with big words. Thing is: english is not my first language, so even though I'm proficient with it, I have my limitations. I intend on improving it constantly, but must apologize for ocasional mistakes. Feel free to slap me across the face with a herring if any mistake I make is really grotesque.

English is your first language? I think you speak it better than me, wahahaha~
Welcome to the forum, I'm Creame, the neighborhood chatter and leading dairy product. :3
Nice to meet you~
Since this forum is pretty active in RP, I think you'll fit right in... Though most of it is Stat-RP (a kind of RP I'm not good at, so I don't play alot). Someone could teach you, it's not very hard. I'm sure you'll be well received ~ :3
I like to lurk around to chatterbox, so feel free to pop in and say hi~ \(^o^)/

Re: Waking up
The main reason I came by was for the RP, to be honest. And since I'm more used to D&D, I think Stat-RP will be a good transition. I'm all in to be taught, as long as someone has the patience (my learning curve is efficient, but rather bizarre).
I'd love to pop in, but I have no clue as to where is the chatterbox

Hai. I am your local cynical panda. Pleased to meet you. o3o
English isn't my first language either, so don't worry about it. And since you were a PC gamer and an RPG player, I think we'll get along fine :DD
Btw Activision ruined WoW and Skyrim is just...ARRRRRGGGHHH! WHERE'S THE STORY?!?!?!
So yes, I'm a sucker for RPGs with a good storyline, I'll buy a two hour long game if it has an incredibly good story and background.

Yay, getting along fine!
I wouldn't know if Activision ruined WoW, since I started playing in mid-cataclysm. I also don't like the lack of story in Skyrim, but the freedom and the gameplay are so intriguing I can't let go of it. It's a lot like Monster Hunter: simple, spiceless story, but the gameplay makes it worth. I'm a sucker for deep, complex stories, but some games steal my heart with their gameplay, because, you know, not everyone can be a Legend of Mana.

Re: Waking up
I started back in Vanilla WoW, it was so much better than WotLK and Cata. I don't necessarily like Skyrim because it's too much like an single-player MMO-style game, that the quests almost never serve any purpose except as a way to progress your character rather than the story, and that you can go around and goof off and do whatever you want except the main quests, and you almost never run out of stuff to distract you from the main quest line with. :/Allindur wrote:Yay, getting along fine! :bounce:

And yeah, I get where you're coming from. One of my favorite series is Fire Emblem, and the story of every FE game is basically the same. But I love the gameplay so much that I've played every FE game released in the US except Path of Radiance. :3
Also, Legend of Mana. You know what it is, you played it, I automatically love you now. o3o

Re: Waking up
I don't like turn based games, oh ho ho ho~
But I do like RPGs with a good storyline, as well as Dragon Age, Skyrim, Monster Hunter, and MMOs. I just like all gamesssss. 'Cept for some strategical and some FPS... but I'll play alot of games, I guess.
To find the chatterbox thread, just go to 'General Chat', and Chatterbox should be there. We talk about random stuff. :U
Also, is that Loveless as your icon? :D

Re: Waking up
I must admit it's a little annoying how Skyrim is built to make you ignore the main storyline, but's also what makes you play it to the exclusion of everything else. Utter freedom and a myriad of things happening at the same time. It's rather mind-numbing, but good in a weird way.
I'm an old time RPG player, so I have a crush on turn based, specially after playing Final Fantasy Tactics, and seeing what action battle system did to Final Fantasy XII *shrugs*
But some of my most deeply beloved RPGs don't use turn based system, like Kingdom Hearts, the Mana Series, or the Soul Blazer series back in SNES, so I make an effort to be very open minded about battle systems. You never know when something different and amazing will pop out (Valkyrie Profile, ayone?)
Also, yay for Legend of Mana! You have just stolen my heart with that statement! Well, one of the many hearts anyway...
Also(2), yes, that is Loveless, glad someone noticed. I put it there out of deep appreciation for the manga, and to coerce myself to stop being lazy and go finish the series, I've been on the last 1/5 of the story for almost a year now...
Guess that says a whole lot more stuff about me
Edit: Oh, I see the chatterbox. I'd hop in, but I'm a little too shy to just dart into a conversation that's already begun . Note that I'm both outgoing and terribly introspective. It kinda fluctuates according to situation, time of day, amount of carbs ingested, disposition of Moon and Sun, solar flares, guardian spirit of people involved and curret disposition of the Ley-Lines.

Re: Waking up
I think one of the better tactical RPGs that I've played which utilized an action-based combat system, was Valkyria Chronicles. I've played 1 and 2, loved them both to death <3

Anyhow, hi there! I'm Cerani, your local . . . uhh . . . I don't think we're quite sure anymore. XD I am a roleplayer as well, less often than the others but I love it nonetheless. Your RPG love far surpasses mine, so I'll just grab my Fallout games and hide.
Check out any RP's you like, some of the newer ones may still be accepting profiles. ^.^

Re: Waking up
Windy, shut the fuck up. I'm going to rip your nonexistent nuts off if you don't stop with that inb4Masq shit. I'm serious. kthxbai.
AHEM.
Allindur, my name is Masquerade, the humble administrator of this forum and ruler of the land of Eternal Dream. You can call me Masq for short. I've been designated the god of statistical role playing amongst my comrades, for there is an entire community of GMs (Game Masters) who do things their own way and we all collaborate on how to make the stat role play experience more great for the players. If you're interested in statistical role playing, it would be best to come to me for the details, so send me a private message if you're interested.
I'm not a very violent person despite the first part of this post, so don't feel threatened or anything. ^ ^; I'm naturally insane, but anyone here (except Windy) will tell you that's a good thing. If you have any questions about the forum in general or if you ever need help with something, I implore you to send me a private message and I will do the best I can to help you out. I hope you have a wonderful stay here in Eternal Dream~

Hello there~
It's always nice to see a new face, especially if that new face roleplays, we're always looking for more. By the way, I'm Terra (in case you didn't look under my Avatar) but most everyone calls me Silv (cause I also go by SilverStorm). I hope you have a great time here, and maybe we can talk sometime~

I don't not like you Windy. You're very likeable. I just want you to stop with the inb4Masq shit. I thought the message was rather obvious. :|
Re: Waking up
As enthusiastic and brainless as I am, I'm in for jumping aimlessly into anything I'm invited to, be I ready or not.
I just need to tackle down the system and understand what is expected of me exactly. I did some info scavenging around, but as I said, my learning curve is a tid bit bizarre.

Re: Waking up
Easy, Masq, you can't just go and decide that anyone can see the reasons why you yell at them, especially a 16-year-old Asian kid.
Don't give yourself a stroke, old man. =3=
@Allindur: Hi. I'm Zeri, the designated God of Vengeance of the forum. If you piss me off, I have clearance to explode in your face for being stupid enough to piss me off. (b=3=)b I'm fairly tolerant though, so you probably won't have to worry about that much.
Anyway, I'm one of two hardcore PC gamers on here, so if you ever want to talk about how insane Blizzard is or how ridiculous Bethesda is, or how amazing Valve is, come to me.
Oh, if you have any questions pertaining to the mental states of other members, your safest bet is to ask me. I'm likely to laugh at you, but I can give you a rundown of who is the most insane here (hint: it's not Masq).

And alright Allindur, I can restart my Northern Wind rp so you have an rp to participate in. ^^

Re: Waking up
Windy, no offense, but I think Allindur should join one of my statistical role plays first until he gets the hang of it. You're a fine GM, but as a teacher, I think I'm better suited for the role.
Re: Waking up
...why is it that whenever someone says "no offense" I actually get offended when I otherwise wouldn't have? :/
Anyway...you do speak the truth Masq. I'll let you handle it then ^^

Re: Waking up
He just needs one practice battle. After that, he should be good to go and you can take it from there. ^^
Re: Waking up
Hey, hey, don't fight over me, everyone can get a piece. I'm all for sharing the love.
Okok, so, I actually agree that a practice battle is good so I can be sure I know what I am doing, but from what I understand, it's not aaaaall that diferent from the tabletop and PbF I've been doing for quite some time. So, just gimme a system and I'll understand it, then I'm good to go!
I think
I hope
Probably
At least that's the theory.
