Interest Check: Haela, Dawn of Creation

Post by Allindur, the Lightfoot on Wed Aug 08, 2012 7:39 am

First, there was void. No light, no darkness, no form, no color. Just emptiness. And in the emptiness, there was a seed. Eventually, the seed broke, for the in the void, there is no time, but in the seed's will, there is. From the broken husk, came a sprout. The sprout became a flower, that grew into a bush, and later, a tree. The Tree was mighty and happy, and all colors, lights, shadows and possibilities danced in its bark, but It could not see Itself. So the Tree cast a light, and when the light hit the Tree, the Tree cast a shadow, and It could see the shadow. It could see Itself. The Tree smiled, and the light and the shadow raised, and saw each other. They talked, and danced and singed, they knew each other more and more, and as they learned more, they became more alike, until one could not tell the difference. Until they were one and the same, the combined reflection of the Tree. And she was the Goddess, the Creator, the Mother. The Goddess roamed the Tree, making all sorts of creatures to play with. Soon, the Tree was covered in life and death and rebirth. But the Goddess grew tired of creating alone, so she took a drop of sap from the roots of the Tree. The drop beared all the colors, all the phases, all the shades of light. She smiled, the sap had not a name yet, and it needed one. She uttered but a word.

Mana

She gathered more Mana, and put all of it in one place. She then created a mirror to separate the mass from the Tree, so that the creation could not see all, so that those in the Tree could not influence it. She bore a small hole in the mirror, though, so a glimpse of the truth could be caught. The Goddess then breathed, and that breathe carried her own image, split into a myriad of fractions. The fractions wispered around the Goddess and the Tree, always whispering and dancing and interacting with each other. With each interaction, they became more and more different, each a part of the whole. In time, the whispers had a form each, a voice each, a mind each, and they went back to the Goddess. She hugged them all, and to each gave a kiss.

This kiss is my spark of creation. See the formless globule of sap? That is a jewel, a focus of Mana, of possibility, pure and unlimited. That is my gift for you, my children, who are the true gods and goddesses in my rest. That is your world Haela, that I give you to shape, and you are the kings and queens I give it to obey.

Then the Goddess gently put the gods at the other side of the mirror. She then spread her wings and flew to the Tree, to rest among Its branches and leaves. Watching. Sleeping.

So, this is NOT a stat RP, as I believe is more than clear.

I'll start by admitting this was not my idea completely. I based this RP off one made in another forum I used to post in, but while the basic concept is the same, I changed the whole scheme of things, mainly because I did not like that much the way that world was set.

Ok, now to the explanations. This is a strange RP, in the sense that there is no player limit and no written storyline. Also, the GM has very little use here. Each player is to create a god to tend for a specific portfolio of the world. The world is amoral and, for now, unshaped, so you can pick whatever you want. Should we have interests, the players will care for every aspect of the world, starting by shaping it, defining its properties and populating it. When the world itself is ready, we can start weaving storylines as needed. The GM will play the Goddess, who has decided to just watch as the world is built. That means I will not influence your decisions, my duty is only to judge in situations were the results of an action are uncertain, and to, maybe, from time to time, throw a story arc that I find interesing, but the greatest part of this RP will be built (literally) by the players.

There are, of course, a few rules the players would have to follow, as to not make everyting confusing.

-All gods have the same power level, except if one of them specifies he/she is weaker.
-I know it sounds weird, but I believe this situation, more than any other asks for this reminder. No God-moding, even though you are a god. Like I said, power levels are equal, you can usually just will anything you want into existance, but when you touch another god's work, thing start to become uncertain.
-You can fight all you want, just keep in mind you are all immortal, and none of you really knows all about your essence as a god. There is much more than meets the eye.

Now for the world

-Mana is the energy os possibility. All is made of mana, even the Tree and the Goddess. Mana can take all forms, all colors, all phases and, essentially, become anything. The world is curretly made of undifferentiated mana.
-There can be different planes, but all is centered on Haela, as it is the focus of creation.
-Haela has to have gravity as long as it has matter. This rule can be ignored for ther realms and planes.
-Time, Death, Life, Reality, Void and Mana spring from the Tree, and as such, cannot have a ruler. There can, however, be gods to tend for some of these things, holding limited control over them and having their care and maintenance as their job. Specifics on that will need to be discussed.
-Any god can project an avatar. Avatars can have any form related to the god's shape or portfolio. Any god can have more than one possible avatar, but they can not usually be projected at the same time(can be revised on very specific cases). All avatars are always weaker than other gods.

Well, that's pretty much it. That's the thing that had been brewing on my mind. A divine sandbox. So, anyone interested? As I said, there is literally no player limit. (of course we can't, on the other hand, get it going with only 2 or 3 gods)

This is an interesting concept. It kind of reminds me of the end of Mirai Nikki, in a way, where the new god of time was just floating around in the endless void, doing nothing, while his servant pestered him to make a new universe.

I'd be interested in playing, if this thing gets started.

I am also very interested. And I believe I have just the character for this. :)

This is quite a creative concept. I've always wanted to join a mythological RP. I'm interested.

Well, we got people interested, and really, I'm not in a hurry to start. When we got at least 4 people ready, we can give it a go, and the other gods can just keep slumbering until they wish to pop up.

As for profiling, I'll keep it simple:
Spoiler:

Name: [Everything has a name, so did the Goddess ordered]
Title: [Not that there are humans to call you by it. Maybe humans aren't even created at all, but still you are known as something. Don't feel limited to only one title.]
Appearance: [All things have a form, and though gods can be formless while they wish, they have an original shape they took in the age of interactions. Note that this is the true form of the god, unless you already got your avatars figured out, and want them to look different, then you can also include them here. Be creative, I never said you had to be humanoid, or even animated.]
Symbol: [Ahnks, Crosses, hammers, all gods have symbols, shapes that bear meaning to them.]
Portfolio/Domain: [What aspect of existance does your god represent? What does it have control/authority over? Time? Death? Fire? Work? Don't be limited to one word or one aspect, make a small combination that makes sense.]
Personality and Description: [Well, your story was pretty much written already, but there is more to be told. Go crazy.]
I'll post an example (the Goddess) if needed be.
