BOOK ZERO: AWAKENING

Chapter One: Songs in the Woods

The calm wind blew smoothly between the thin trees just outside the lumber camp. Most of the wood and stumps there had been taken by overgrowth, making everything look like just another part of the forest, just with smaller plants. It was all very beautiful, the scent of the wild roses mixed with the smell of water from a river just a few hundred meters away, and with the lovely touch of human blood. Blood. Pouring in the earth, painting the leaves. Colouring everything.

Everywhere you looked, dead bodies. Most of them pierced and raked. Some chopped, lacking limbs or even heads. Blood flowing freely. A few of the bodies burned to cinders and charred bones, with no trace of the flames on the nearby vegetation. Over two of the bloodied bodies, a pair of old, stout men. They were crouched, collecting the blood from the deepest wounds on their small caps. The crimson of the fabric getting deeper and deeper. Floating nearby, humming calm, deep songs, two bright globes of blue flame lit the air, filling everything with their deeply sorrowful, profoundly beautiful theme. And in the middle, dancing among the marvelous carnage, inciting the forest to retake in minutes what the humans took days to build, the weirdest being of truest joy. A mix of humanoid, vegetation and insect. And so weirdly beautiful.

And on the bushes nearby, a warrior of the humans approached, covered in steel, holding a weapon of cold iron on hands. Fear could not be seen in his face in front of all that. No, not fear. Just sadness...

-Now where are those mercenaries?...

Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons Empty Re: Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons

She was hidden away amongst the trees, barely able to make out the result of the bloody battle that had been going on earlier. Not that she wanted to see it, but cutting off her connection with the world would leave her in an even worse position. The problems of the blind. Watching through her mind did not make the scene any less gruesome unfortunately; nor did not truly seeing it with one's own eyes make the memory any less haunting. Here she was not even out of the woods yet and it was already painful to look back on. Tis what happens when one is thrown on a battlefield.

She should not have left Ethernia. Despite needing to be thinking about how to get out of this horrendous mess, that was the only thought in Clarissa's head. She definitely should not have come here. But she had been naive, and with Eden's blessing she had become overconfident; she thought she could handle this. The fighting, the bloodshed... it was all too much. After getting here she thought she could help make peace in this other world. She had been dead wrong.

Being thrust onto a side when one is not fully aware of what is going on is unforgivable. And yet she had been cast into some kingdom all because she knew her way around a spell. It was absurd, especially considering she really did not have her powers all figured out; she had only just received them. But that did not matter, if one knew how to use spellcraft they were part of that kingdom. She broke free as soon as possible... with the help of her friends.

She had planned on getting back to where she had come from, but things could never be easy. It seemed the spell that brought her here would need to recharge for an undeterminable amount of time; until then she would have to stay in this dimension. That's how she ended up in this mess! Having to work as a mercenary, fighting in a forest where most everyone had been slaughtered. And that is where she believed that she too would die an early death, in a world she was not a part of no less.

But it seemed that the Goddess was looking out for her, even here where she likely had no power. For after what seemed like forever of hiding, a man that seemed at least a bit recognizable entered the area. His presence caused the young assembler's spirits to rise just a bit despite the sadness that covered his face. Perhaps he could help get her and the others out of here... considering there were still others left besides her. She had been hiding alone and could not see anyone else, so she was painfully unaware of any other comrades.

Taking care to sneak from her hiding place, Clarissa made her way over to the man, around some of the trees and placed herself just next to him. "Thank goodness you're here, it's... terrible. Just terrible." her voice came out in a thin, breathy whisper. "I-I don't know if there are others... I hope I'm not the only one to have made it out..." she added, her voice trailing off as the memory surfaced again. She mentally shook her head; it did little to erase the earlier occurrence.

Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons Empty Re: Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons

Post by Zerifachias Tue Jul 24, 2012 6:05 am

The forest breathed. Every small gust of wind was the sign of the trees in the sky and the plants on the ground breathing deeply in unison. The only disturbance...death. Faeries and humans, pounding through the forest and altering the path of the light breeze. But they did not notice her, no, for she was at peace, one with the forest. She saw them clearly, from the heights of a tree. Though high in the air she was, she could see each small whisker of hair that steadily grew on the armored man's chin, and every little quiver and shake of the female who appeared next to him.

Zenira, one of the elves that hails from the Silver Woods to the north, found the opportunity to stand on the tree limb, without disturbing the tree's breathing. In order to climb down though, she would need to disturb it, and knowing that, Zenira placed a gloved hand on the tree's trunk and whispered an apology in the tongue of her people. She waited, and waited for a long time, before a slight creaking sound could be heard. The tree had already forgiven her, and even bid her farewell.

Zenira slid off the trunk, her conscience clear, and landed gracefully next to the tall, armored man without a sound. Her powerful legs contracted on the landing, and slowly she allowed herself to stand, none of her moves wasted. These were the movements of an expert combatant, rivaled by no human.

"There is yet more to fear within these woods, little child," Zenira's voice was calm and quiet, but very articulate, like the hum from a hummingbird's wings. She smelled of lavender mixed with cashmere to create a pleasant aroma that seemed to radiate from her body and her sleek, golden hair. It was not known to who Zenira spoke to, but it would no doubt be safe to assume that she spoke to both humans who stood near her. "If you are so unsure of your decision to stay and fight, then you will do us no good here. It would be better if you leave this to those who are confident."

Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons Empty Re: Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons

Post by Masquerade Tue Jul 24, 2012 8:20 am

The shadows in the forest were not as thick as the pools and rivers of crimson blood that quenched the soil's thirst and painted the whimsical grass red with life essence. Screaming and mayhem seemed to sound through the air. Fighting between faeries and humans seemed to be the source, but it didn't last long. The humans had been overwhelmed, and now it seemed that the faeries were marveling in their victory, dancing triumphantly and emphatically about the gruesome scene. It would have been a sickening sight to those who were not accustomed to the gore of fighting, enough to make one's stomach roil in disgust. However, the light red eyes that peered from the shadows seemed to not mind it at all.

Where there were dead humans, there were souls to be reaped. Nyala had signed on as a mercenary for the Steel Kingdom of Dharnassus, offering his talents to their cause for coin. He was not a man of worldly possessions--he was a reaper. Possessing a high affinity with death, Nyala developed powers over it and was gifted with odd magics that he had yet to conquer and control. It was his innate nature to take the souls of men and guide them to where they needed to go. This battle had been so fierce and one-sided that he found himself just drifting from wrecked body to wrecked body in his invisible, ethereal form in order to perform the task he was meant to do. He watched as the fey reveled in victory. Whatever their problems were, they were just as sick-minded as the humans in the end--nothing but beasts bathing in the blood of their prey.

Task complete, Nyala melded into the shadows and waited. The forest seemed silent except for the excited chattering of the faeries and the occasional scream from one of them finding a surviving soldier. It stayed that way for what seemed like an eternity until out of the corner of his eye, he spied Lieutenant Irongrip, a guard of renown in Dharnassus. He was practically a veteran, and still somewhat young--younger than one would think a veteran to be. He was required here. The other soldiers were fodder; they had no idea what they were doing. This man, Irongrip, had seen his fair share of battles and would not be overtaken by the faeries. Of that, Nyala was sure. The other mercenaries were gathering; he had been aware of their hiring as well. Alone, the faeries could not be taken. No, they had to work in a group.

The shadows under a nearby tree extended towards the group of fighters that had already gathered, and from out of it rose Nyala, taking a step forward while brushing off his robes, the shadow of the tree returning to normal. He had wild, somewhat spiky purple hair and long flowing robes that matched in hue. The robes had an even darker purple array of fuzzy fur going around the shoulders and upper back with light red gems the same color of his eyes embedded here and there amidst the fur. He gazed upon the people that now stood before him, the corners of his mouth creeping upwards slightly into an amused grin.

"If the girl thought she'd be of no use, she woulda high-tailed it outta here already," Nyala spoke slyly, his voice slightly raspy giving it a somewhat creepy quality. "The fact she could look over at a scene like that and not puke is sign she'll be able to help," he added, gesturing towards all the blood, guts, and corpses. He took his scythe off of his back--really just a stage prop made out of a hard material. It was the best he could find so far, but he hoped to replace it eventually. He stepped forward, tossing a nonchalant look at the lieutenant. "And Lieutenant Irongrip, sir. I would like to say what an immense pleasure it will be to fight by your side."

Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons Empty Re: Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons

Lucille had rushed to the forest on a horse as soon as she received word of the presence of Fey in the area. When she reached the forest outskirts Lucille dismounted, remembering that her father told her to go into the forest by foot. She made sure that the horse would stay in the same spot, tying a rope to a tree and then the other to the horse's leg. With that taken care of the young woman ventured into the woods, allowing the mare to graze peacefully and (hopefully) safely.

Upon arriving at the scene by following the sound of the singing, Lucille's eyes widened and she turned away for a moment, horrified by the bloody scene in front of her. She felt nauseous and held her hand in front of her mouth, however nothing came out of her mouth. The mushroom stew she had earlier today somehow remained within her body, despite the gory scene caused by these things.

Looking around her, Lucille was thankful to have other, allies to combat these beings. Among them was a much older man, presumably Lieutenant Irongrip, the man her father said she would meet. He did seem very experienced and used to the sight of blood, as his expression showed no signs of him being affected by seeing all this blood and gore. In fact, no one else seemed quite as bothered by the scene as she was, they must have all been through a lot. She was most likely the only person here without any real experience in combat, it was the reason why her father wanted her to come help the Lieutenant, to know what it was like to be fighting with her life at stake.

"By the light, the wicked shall be purged." Lucille announced, regaining her composure somewhat.

Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons Empty Re: Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons

Michael sighed, closing another body's eyes. Today was not a great day for humanity, with such losses on their side. It felt as if they were failing some great test meant to prove that they were worthy of a second chance, that they were more than just squabbling infighters. Perhaps that was the point of his existence, he thought. That he should spread the message to others, and make them believe they could come together peaceably and defeat all their enemies. They should remember the days of all those lost, fight in their memory and build to a greater glory than ever before.

"Ah well." Michael shrugged, pushing off the ground with the help of his mace. "Such are fool's dreams," He said aloud to himself, his booming voice echoing slightly. "And Drokyn's call is not for peace and glory." Indeed not, and the cleric smiled as he came across what could only be the other mercenaries, an odd collection they made together. A couple of them, the two youngest looking he was not surprised to find, looked nervous and jumpy. A sure sign of inexperience no doubt, but Michael didn't mind. Everyone had to start somewhere and he was well suited to keeping them alive. The other three, particularly the elf and the only other man in full armor looked quite experienced, or at least ready for battle. But the other one he couldn't quite put a finger on. He couldn't tell what it was, but something about the man screamed strange and weird to him. Michael made a mental note not to trust him.

The cleric rested his heavy mace on his shoulder. "So what are we standing around for? Is there a funeral I'm not aware of?" If there was he should be performing rites and they burying bodies. But there were fey nearby. "There's no time for formalities or dallying about, to battle!" He quickly lifted his mace with his battlecry, loud voice carrying easily. His mother always said he had a great set of lungs.

Well, not all the mercenaries were there, but fortunately, they were not the only ones that showed. Of course, since the warrior with the mace did the favor of calling the attention of all the faeries to them, the battle plan he was going to design had just ceased existing. Oh, well, they would have to make it up as they went.

Clarissa frowned upon being told to go hide and leave the fight to more capable fighters. Though she did not wish to be fighting and she definitely was not the most experienced or powerful fighter, she was here. She herself had next to no offensive abilities, but she could at least help them out in some way. "I'm not running." the assembler responded, her voice more full and steady than it had been before.

However the slight strength she held crumbled just a bit as she realized that her just standing there was not proving anything. So she quickly shuffled into the spot the man had been standing in and reached into one of the pockets on her dress. A small chime was heard as she pulled a silver bell out of her pocket, her hand clenched tightly around the handle. "Please Eden..." Clarissa thought to herself as she raised the bell into the air.

Clarissa moves to I7!

"By the grace of thy creator, in the skies you are free. Come forth, entity of the liberated. A name in song, a pact of liberty; rise, Ora! The powers of the wind blow solely under your command." the words fell off of her lips rather forcefully, almost as if she were unsure they would do anything if she did not say them that way. When the chant finished she the hand holding the bell fell and a single chime rang out. Immediately a purple glyph formed in the air above the young summoner, a powerful gale blowing through it before a woman appeared bathed in wind. The woman turned to face the assembler, giving her a curt nod before turning back to face the bloody scene before them.

Clarissa casts Lady of the Skies! Ora is summoned at H7! -1 SC!

"Th-thank you, your help is appreciated." Clarissa murmured in response to the nod. The woman just moved her right arm and a gale picked up, conjuring a large staff made out of a strange green energy. Unsure of how to take that the assembler began to speak up only to have the woman begin moving again. Apparently she had her own tactics already planned.

"Squall." Ora breathed, her voice full of many layers. In response to the singular word she uttered, a gale began to pick up around her only to quickly move over to the elf. And the gale picked up from there, spinning faster around her until it finally melded to her form; it was done.

Ora casts Squall on Zenira! Bestows Haste!

Michael considered his allies once more, but for another purpose this time. Their fighters could do with some extra protection, but who first? The large guard looked capable of holding his own for now, so he could wait, as could the elf. She seemed quick and fast enough to hold out. Ah, that left the girl with the rapier. He lifted his hand, palm upwards. Sky blue colored energy gathered there into an orb of this blue light, and he cast it towards the girl. It spread around her like an iridescent wave and encompassed her completely, before fading. "You're next." He pointed at the creepy one. Michael may not have trusted him, but they were on the same side.

With the booming voice of the last mercenary, the attention of the fey were drawn to them causing Nyala to sigh mentally. Their chances at catching the creatures of the forest unaware had been stifled in an instant, but it mattered not. Holding his scythe in hand, he slid past the girl who had been harping something about the light or some nonsense. Odd that he, a denizen of darkness, should wind up joining forces with someone like her. The mercenaries must have come from all over the place to be this diverse. In his mind, he hoped that there would be no trouble. They should count themselves lucky that he was among them and not their enemies. He caught wind of the loud man saying something about him being next--a warning that he would be receiving some sort of protection which would be well appreciated.

Nyala moves to J5.

For now, however, the reaper held his ground in his new position. "Sorry for the violation of your space there," he rasped to the woman next to him that he had sidled past. "Duty calls and whatnot." He felt the desire to lead these faeries into the realm of death more strongly than ever now that the confrontation had escalated. There would be no mercy for them. If he or any of the others relented, then it would be a welcome to catastrophe. It was something he so direly wished to avoid.

Nyala waits.

Lucille moves to cell G-6

Lucille noticed something surrounding her body then vanishing. It seemed to be a protective magic of sorts, and she turned to thank the man who had cast the spell on her only to come face to face with a rather shady-looking man. From the way he looked and talked, Lucille could have sworn he was an agent of darkness, of evil. And he just slid past her like that. Even if he apologized there was no forgiving what he did, a stranger getting that close to a virgin maiden even for a moment. Lucille glanced at the man one more time before passing by the elf girl, standing beside the lieutenant with her eyes focused on the fey. However she did manage to remember what the lieutenant told the other girl here. How she should be leaving the fight to them.

"Lieutenant, if you believe the girl should not be a part of this battle then shall I also take my leave?" Lucille asked politely, "After all I'm sure I'm younger than this girl and just as, if not much more, inexperienced in combat."

Lucille waits

Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons Empty Re: Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons

Post by Zerifachias Wed Jul 25, 2012 6:12 pm

Zenira watched as others showed up. Two more humans, one appearing to be a cleric and the other to be a very young sword-warrior. A Reaper. Zenira was most distressed by the appearance of this one man, she had not expected one of their kind to appear here like this, not with so many living beings around. But there was nothing to fear, Reapers were tied to their duties and often would not attack others randomly. She could trust this character, more than the ordinary humans, that was for sure.

Zenira felt the spirits of wind surrounding her and melding with her form, and turned to see that the child she was talking to before had summoned an interesting being. As thanks, Zenira bowed her head towards the being. "No time to linger here, my cousins are calling for battle," she said solemnly. Zenira then drew her blade, it's form wavering and splitting with each quick movement she gave. She held it up, then dashed over to the side, where one of the faeries were.

Zenira moves to H-3

"Good afternoon, my cousin,"
Zenira greeted the faerie, giving it a formal bow. "I apologize on behalf of my people, for they have decided not to oppose you, like I have. Please, this was my decision, and my decision alone. Goodbye, cousin." And with that, Zenira's form nearly disappeared from view, her body moving so incredibly fast that every strike seemed like a thousand, and it was not long before the faerie was on the ground, bleeding, dead.

Zenira's Haste has 2 turns left.

ENEMY PHASE!

The elf's slashes ripped the small Red Cap to shreds in the time it would take to blink an eye, only bloody remnants were left painting the ground, just as he painted his cap with the blood of lumberjacks. The other one didn't seen to care too much, but a glimpse of dread could be read the the face of the small Sprite.

Powrie moves to G8.

The small Red Cap left doesn't even think, running to the veteran soldier and stabbing him with his pike-like weapon. The little imp does a high leap and hits right above the chest plate, wounding the Lieutenant in the soft spot of the armor.

Powrie attacks Hector. CRITICAL STRIKE! 12 Dmg (Atk)!

The two wisps immediately float to join the fight. It was clear they were the responsibles for the charred bodies. One of them tries to help the Red Cap take down the commander, while the other burns weirdly. Its deep sorrow seemingly changed to a burning rage. It goes to Zenira.

Hobby moves to D3.

Hobby casts Faery Fire on Zenira! 5 Dmg (Int). Zenira's Haste is Dispelled!

MP: 24/30

Inkypunk casts Torchlight on Hector! 5 Dmg (Int). Hector loses 1 SPR!

MP: 24/30

Inkypunk waits.

A bright golden sphere forms next to one of the wisps and flies to Hector, completely ignoring his armor and searing his flesh. The Lieutenant gasps in pain. His will can be felt burning in those flames. All the while, an aura of flames circles the other wisp for a second, and Zenira is engulfed in greenish-purple flames. Her skin tickles and she doesn't feel much pain. But the burns can be seen in her flesh, and the magic squall that surrounds her is burned to smoke.

The sprite looks at Lucille, curious, and a myriad of light bubbles appear around her. They are beautiful, shifting quickly between all colors of the rainbow. Before the fencer even sees what is happening, the bubbles are all around her, assaulting her from all sides. She feels a deep burn inside her soul. It's her energies deposits, the very mana from her body...burning away.

Tithe casts Dancing Lights on Lucille! 6 Dmg to the MP.(Int)

MP: 19/25

Tithe moves to C5.

Hector had seen what those things could do...once again. If the wisps kept burning away magical blessings, they would never get the upper hand. It was better to focus the attention on him, who seemed like the most resistant member of that strange, strange team.

Ora moves to H4!

Clarissa was going to order the wind maiden to bestow the same gift upon another one of her allies but it seemed the familiar had the very thought beforehand. A powerful wind shot through the area and the woman surged through the current, landing just next to the elf. Whatever these faeries had been doing in battle, it had removed the elf's means of advantage and that was not alright.

"Squall." Ora breathed once more, the same full voice causing winds to rise around her. A wave of her staff caused the winds to once again divide and converge upon the elf and then meld to her form. Once the affects were in place the wind maiden relaxed if only slightly. Getting rid of the flames would be her next priority.

Ora casts Squall on Zenira! Bestows Haste!

"Well then..." the assembler murmured as she watched her summon go about her own business. She could not help but feel a little depressed that the wind maiden was so... independent. It was almost as if she had no use anymore, which was not helping her appear capable at all. "Suppose I'll have to try something myself..." she continued in a low whisper as she moved slowly closer to the many enemies.

Zenira paused for only a moment, taking in the battle with all available senses. The faerie wisps managed to despell the wind around her, but the being from before came over to give it back. Apparently this being knew about Zenira's abilities and wanted this battle to end quickly. Zenira couldn't do much to the wisps though, they had too much physical protection. What she could do, though...

Zenira moves to D-5

Zenira ran through the clearing in the forest, her body blurred from the speed of her movements. She came to an abrupt half, and her form was finally crisp and clear, her sword raised and her body twisted, as if pausing an elegant dance so that all could revel in her beauty, for elves were known to be the fair folk, where the men and women had such dazzling beauty. Then, a blur with flashes of steel, mixing in with the blood of Zenira's foe.

Zenira uses Flurry on Tithe! 6 Atk DMG! 3 hits!

MP: 6/20

Zenira attacks Tithe! 5 Atk DMG! 2 hits!

"Do not forgive me," Zenira spoke softly, sheathing her blade as what remained of the faerie splattered on the forest floor. She held up her hand to her heart and bowed her head. "For I do not deserve forgiveness."

"That's right, you assumed I could fight because you knew my father and was aware of my upbringing, even though I've had no real experience in battle. This will be the first time that my blade will actually cut through something." Lucille said with a smile, looking down at her flimsy rapier, "But I thank your trust in my ability."

Her father was the leader of the royal guard. That was the only reason Lucille commanded the respect she had, not because of her ability in combat or any reason that meant something, but only because she was Darius Artwaltz's daughter. However one day Lucille will prove that she deserved this respect, she will make a name for herself with her own strength and take over for her father as the leader of the royal guard. And when people mention her father, they will not say 'he is Highlord Darius Artwaltz' but rather 'he is Lady Lucille Artwaltz's father.'

But in order to take that first step toward building her legacy she would first have to cut down these fey. Lucille approached the three who seemed to be using some sort of magic, one of was immediately taken out by the elf girl. Though her rapier couldn't reach any of them, she had her own magic to use. The Sword Maiden held her rapier high above her head, allowing a small sphere of light to gather at the tip before making its way toward one of the wisps.

Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons Empty Re: Tales of Air and Shadow: A Song of Dragons

Post by Masquerade Wed Jul 25, 2012 9:20 pm

This day, Nyala felt oddly sluggish. Typically, his array of attacks and techniques were far reaching, but when the enemy deigned not come forward, he found himself struggling to catch up. The faeries were not the sturdiest of creatures, so they had to be careful and keep their distance--a wise move on their part not like it was doing any good for some. Blessings and buffs were being tossed about that would swiftly lead to their demise without Nyala having to lift a finger it seemed. He decided to stay in tune with the condition of his allies--he could feel when they drew closer and closer to death with each attack the faeries unleashed. It sent shivers down his spine, but he knew he could not whisk them away. He traced his finger in the air lazily as he gazed directly ahead of him. For all the singing, blood, and death, I'm finding this to be a rather droll time, he thought to himself, walking forward a bit.

Nyala moves to I4.

The reaper could remember the words of the cleric. If the man had a blessing to bestow upon Nyala, he would easily be able to catch him, for the reaper was not going far. Perhaps his focus would be better off placed elsewhere. He wasn't about to doubt the man's thought process--whatever he thought was best would be perfectly fine. In the meantime, Nyala would observe and keep his reflexes sharp and senses attuned to his surroundings. Surprises were never particularly fun.

Nyala waits.

"Hum." The battle hadn't exactly gone like he'd expected. It could only come from his inexperience with the fey he guessed. Should have prepared more. "Seems a change of plans are in order. You sir!" Michael took a step to the side to get a better line of sight to the large soldier. He raised his hand again but this time simple white light filled it before he cast it at the man. It wouldn't do a whole lot of good, but it would help a little.

Michael casts Heal [-7 MP] on Hector! Hector is healed for 3 HP!

"Better than dying sooner." Michael shrugged, again.

The wisps seem to remain hellbent of the destruction of their targets. Hector's provocation apparently had it's desired effect on one of the wisps, as it burned with the same rage as the one trying to avenge the Red Cap's death. Hector felt the rest of his resistance burn away under the globe of golden flame, and Zenira's flesh and magical winds are seared once more. The small burly Red Cap seemed to have found a tastier target than Hector, as it ran blindly for Clarissa, and stabbed her with his pikestaff. The Assembler's robes didn't offer much protection from the weapon, and when the spearhead came out with a twist, blood started pouring quickly from the wound. Hemorrhage.

The small faery drops from Zenira's attacks, it's delicate husk dried out, a translucent liquid pouring from it's wounds. It looked like...sap. The elf was relentless. The sprite looked up to it's slayer's face. No fear could seen in those large, yellow eyes. Only despise. A tiny, beautiful voice, like a spring flower, could be heard from the mouthless head of the faery.

-You are just like all of your kind. But I go not in fear, as the Great Mother greets me now in my slumber, and Arcadia awaits when I wake up again. Can YOU say the same when your time come, traitor of your sisters?

The body is quickly consumed by the earth, and soon only bark and dry leaves remain, all taken the by grass and flowers. The forest had taken her back. Zenira didn't even have to look back to know the same had happened to the Red Cap. She stared at the little bush where once stood the Sprite. It was like it whispered to her ears "you will never see Arcadia"...

The damn Red Cap ignored him and went for the girl. Crafty little bastard! He saw her armor, he knew she could not withstand punishment as him. Oh, but he was not gonna let that happen. He still had one shot.

-You know better than that, Artwaltz. Don't be the whinny brat everyone expects you to be. You received better training in your first years of life than most soldiers did their whole career, and as your commanding officer I'll give you tasks according to that fact, understood?

Hector moves to G7.

"Very well Lieutenant. I am at your command."

Lucille moves to cell D-4
ATK: 5 -> 6
DEF: 3-> 3
INT: 5 -> 6
SPR 2 -> 2

Lucille pursued the wisp she had just attacked, again passing the elf girl. It was rather frightening how quickly she dispatched the two enemies all by herself, and Lucille was suddenly quite glad she wasn't siding with the fey. Lucille conjured the sphere of light on the tip of her rapier again, and it was sent to the same wisp as last time.

"Huh?"

Nyala glanced over to the side to notice that one of the faeries had come dangerously close to him. His form wavered from existence and appeared above the creature, a grimace on his face as he brought down his already raised scythe upon the creature. Body disappearing from sight after the follow through of his attack, it reappeared briefly behind the creature before wavering out and finally reappearing in the spot he had been in prior. Grimace gone and replaced with a somewhat dissatisfied look, the reaper held his scythe tightly and kept his ground...at least for the moment. All he could of was that it was about time he had been able to do something.

Nyala uses Illusion - One Form on Powrie! 6 Dmg! (ATK)

"Best not stand here or they'll get away again..." he said to himself flatly before sidling past the floating spirit thing in front of him that so happened to be on their side. "Uh...yeah. Excuse me, sorry about this," he said as he made his way awkwardly to the spot in front of her, taking a look around. The one he had attacked just a couple of seconds ago was nearer, but the odd wisps were intent to maintain what distance they had and even deigned to try and get farther away. It must have had to do with their battle prerogative. Whatever it was, it was annoying.

Nyala moves to G4.

Clarissa had to visibly bite her tongue to keep herself from yelping. For a tiny creature, the Red Cap certainly was strong; strong enough to not only hurt her but cause a pretty heavily bleeding wound. The assembler gingerly placed her free hand on the wound before frowning deeply, it was not going to stop anytime soon. "Well then." she murmured to herself, looking back at the small faery that had attacked her. "That hurt." she stated, her hand tightly clenched around the handle of her weapon.

Without thinking the assembler raised her weapon arm and instead of ringing the bell slammed it down on the creature. A very audible 'Ting!' rang out in the immediate area, a slight chime accompanying it as she pulled her arm back. Clarissa definitely was not the most physically powerful person, but it had to do some sort of damage to the thing. She did not wait, however, to see what it did and instead opted to run away from the creature.

As the reaper slipped around her the wind maiden stared with a strange gleam in her eye. "Do not excuse yourself." she stated after a moment, her storm cloud eyes boring into his form. "One must do what is required of them in battle; it is the only way to get what you want from fighting." the woman continued, her gaze shifting to the side to see her summoner coming towards her. "If you'll excuse me, I must take my leave. These beings have caused quite enough trouble for Lady Clarissa." and with that spoken another gale blew through the forest and the woman rode it over to one of the flames.

Ora moves to E2!

Once positioned right next to one of the flames that had fled the main battleground, the wind spirit's visage sharpened. Swinging her staff in the direction of the flame spirit, a gale picked up around the weapon and tore into the thing's being. It was a fairly basic attack, but it was the only damaging move the wind maiden held; it would work well enough. It had to.

A wave of sadness washed though Zenira, and she shivered. Whatever magic that faerie was using on her, it was working. She took a step back, watching as the fey turned to the earth. "To Arcadia, huh?" Zenira mumbled, still staring down. She scoffed and whirled around on her heavy boot, trudging back towards the front, where another faerie still was.

Zenira moves to G-5

"Do me a favor," Zenira spat, her appearance growing darker by the second as her anger rose. "Spare me the visions and tell your friends that I do not fear death, or whatever might happen to me when I die." Zenira quickly drew her sword and smote the fey, her blade splitting in two as it reached a blinding speed to cut the faerie.

"You can keep your Arcadia! I will never regret siding with the humans!" Zenira's form was truly beautiful as she uttered those words. Her chin held high, her sword flinging the blood of the faerie away, her golden hair glistening in the sunlight. But a darkness had appeared around her eyes, she was angry. Very angry.

Michael was not pleased. The group seemed to be only that, a group. They were not working well together beyond a few that worked towards their own ends. He was left at a loss as to who he should follow at this point, the large soldier or the girl who was badly bleeding. "Well now that I think about it." The girl had the greater injuries, and he would bet anything that her summoned creature would be dismissed if she fell. He moved more in her direction, faintly hoping the bloody fey nearby would ignore him, and sent his healing light her way.

Michael moves to I-6.

The Lieutenant gasped. The little Red Cap just jumped on him and bit his neck, taking a huge chunk of flesh and blood. Now the wound was bleeding badly and, to make things worse, the wisp invoked a blue firebolt against wich his armor could do nothing, and his seared will power made him all the more vulnerable too.

Oh, but he was far from doomed. That soldier was not going down so easy...

Hector moves to G8.

Hector attacks Powrie! 5 Dmg(Atk).

He took a quick step back and swung his halberd at the little thing. He watched its blood stained its white beard.
