Styrofoam Clouds - Natura
Niagara Falls, Canada-US Border, Earth, 2XXX...
The decaying earth. The planet was on the path to peril with humans running rampantly, pushing scientific and industrial progress at the expense of the environment. Many unprepared humans died off, for it took time to integrate into this new polluted world, but before long, things were about as fine as they could be in completely toxic surroundings. The people who still supported the environment had been pushed back into the woodlands, and then into places completely untouched by man as deforestation spread. These secluded, pure places became known amongst the Guardiani Terrene, the protectors of nature, as Sanctuaries. It was these Sanctuaries that were under attack by Citta del Avvenire, the secret society that emerged in the United States government and managed to get all environmental protection laws abolished. That was the largest turning point in the dark history of Earth leading up to the dire situation of the current day. The Guardiani Terrene, having become so in touch with the environment, wound up meeting an entity who went by the name of Mother Nature. Under her guidance, they endeavored to protect the remaining Sanctuaries while Mother Nature utilized her power to create natural disasters to persuade the Citta del Avvenire to abscond from their current path of action. It was essentially the planet's final stand, and even then the plan wasn't surefire. How long would they last before they were all destroyed?
An alert had sounded throughout the Luna Island Sanctuary. An assault wasn't being made on Niagara Falls, but the presence of Citta del Avvenire members in the vicinity was enough for a major call of action considering that Luna Island was one of the key access points to the Inner Sanctuaries found throughout Canada, one of the few remaining countries relatively free of pollution. When the alert was sounded, Mother Nature gathered her most trusted warriors, ordering them to march from the main Sanctuary, the Lake of the Woods, off towards Niagara Falls. Armed with the magic power of nature, something that was denied the other humans who supported the Citta del Avvenire, the warriors prepared for what may wind up in total sacrifice.
Standing on the bridge that now spanned the entirety of the falls, three people kept an eye out for suspicious activity that was sure to be taking place soon. One of the three was Mother Nature's most trusted, the Familiaris--a being who pledged himself as a complete servant to Mother Nature. Ereth Cantierre was his name, and because of his power and title, he was put in charge of all major operations and acted as a direct representative for Mother Nature, her will and feelings being expressed through him. Staring ahead across the bridge, his unique, pale red eyes remained trained on the distant areas, looking for strange forms that would be coming for whatever reason. Little did those forms know that they would be met with opposition. The crispness of the breeze felt incredible on Ereth's bare chest. He would have taken great pleasure in that and the sound of his black cloak flapping about had things not been so serious. There was hardly any time for the Guardiani Terrene to relax and goof off. Until they got a foothold against the Citta del Avvenire, there never would be. The butt of his pole rested against the wood of the bridge, the lantern at the end of it dangling by its chain, unlit for now for it was the middle of the day. Not a sound passed his lips for the longest time. His compatriots...he knew not what went through their minds at the moment, but he hoped they were ready for conflict. The Citta del Avvenire could not be allowed to do whatever they pleased. If ever they broke through the Luna Island Sanctuary, things would fall into chaos. It could never be allowed to happen.
In the distance, the figures finally came through. There were three of them--an even match. They were still too far away to discern noticeable features, but they were approaching quickly. "My friends, ready yourselves and pray," he stated with a sharp intake of breath as if bracing his own self for the oncoming storm.

The rushing falls calmed her the slightest bit, but she still felt unsettled–standing watch for members of Citta del Avvenire always unnerved her. Before all of this she despised conflict, only now did she choose to fight and for good reason. They were the last defense, after all: Mother Nature depended on them. Even then she was hesitant to fight. Fighting was rough and tumble, more suited to earth or fire than water. "Breathe, Celina." she echoed to herself, exhaling lightly and then inhaling deeply. "There's water here... relax." she reminded, glancing over the edge of the bridge at the falls.
It helped, if only slightly. She would have preferred to dive into the falls for a bit–that would have calmed her down; she would have been in her element. But while on guard, she could not goof off. True, Niagra Falls was not being attacked, but they needed to be vigilant. The members of Citta del Avvenire would have to be dealt with. The Luna Island Sanctuary had to remain a stalwart figure of all they fought for–no alternative. "Breathe, Celina." she stressed internally, forcing another light exhale and deep inhale. She repeated this twice over before finally losing a small amount of tension in her body. It lasted for the shortest while.
"My friends, ready yourselves and pray," Ereth advised, causing Celina to turn sharply in the direction of the three figures. Her hands clenched tight together and she took another breath, eyes forced shut. She patted the small skin of water at her side, the liquid inside reacting to her touch and flowing freely from the container to surround her protectively.
"Mother Nature, give me strength..." she murmured.

"Here we are, friends!" Athos's arms flew open and his lips breathed inward, as if to pass a simple moment of silence to appreciate the beauty of the falls. The Dominus (pay no mind to his title, for it's a simple descriptor of his profession, and holds no particular power other than fame) held a particularly lamentable relationship with the power of nature: he found it sparklingly awe-inspiring, while nature found him repulsive. As such, through a seemingly natural chain of events that properly simulated such an uncooperative relationship, Athos found himself as a hardworking scientist of the Avvenire regime. To permanently sculpt a physical manifestation of his affinity with nature, Athos constructed a genetically enhanced rabbit named Bestia, who bowed at his side on all-four paws. Athos considered Bestia a cherished prize: a memory of nature that needed to be preserved and enhanced upon. After all, everything could always be better.
Athos supposed that was where his poor relationship with the Guardiani Terrene stemmed.
"Girls, be sure to keep your tongues in your own mouths for a moment while we visit the Niagara. Such pure water is nothing short of gold in terms of value these days." With a tongue almost as acetic as the water that courses through the sewers of New York City, Athos pecked a joke at his subordinates and cracked a curling smile that only seemed to widen as he unsheathed a metallic test-tube, perfectly sized to capture a few delicate ounces of what could accurately be described as the "purest water on Earth."
Wasting no time in capturing a quick droplet or seven of water off of the splattering cascades of the Niagara, Athos popped the test-tube's cap and held it off the bridge's side, allowing ample amounts of water to flow mellifluously into it. As the tube filled and began to seep liquids that stained Athos's gloves a darker shade of leather, he retracted his arm and sealed the tube, safely pocketing it into the innermost nook of his jacket. That wasn't a particularly strenuous mission. Athos was pleased. He disliked strain. He disliked it a lot.
Three others. There were three others approaching from the other half of the bridge. Naturally (heh), members of the Guardiani Terrene society, of course. After all, it had been Athos and his women who had encroached upon their territory. Dogs are territorial; the Guardiani Terrene like dogs. By association, it would be safe to assume the treepeople were also territorial.
"Don't mind us, we're just passing. A breath of fresh air never hurts the lungs, you know." Athos hated talking, but he seemed to do it all the time anyway.

Re: Styrofoam Clouds - Natura
It was beautiful, Clarissa thought absentmindedly, stopping her movements to gaze up and out of the clear waters. It was nothing like the black smoke and towering metal structures of their home. The air was clear and fresh and she breathed it in in quiet delight. Exhaling softly, Clarissa clicked her mouth shut quickly at Athos' words and then realized she hadn't checked if her tongue had been hanging out. But, moving her tongue, Clarissa concluded that since her mouth was closed and her tongue was moving inside it, it wasn't hanging out. Still, she raised her mechanical arm and pressed the metal fingers to her lips.
Though without flesh, the arm had been manufactured in a way that it was connected to her nerves and just below the surface were mechanisms resembling receptors. She wasn't technically touching things but it gave her a feeling resembling it. Reassured that there was no danger of her losing more parts of her flesh and blood, Clarissa lowered her hand. She then turned her attention to Adrianna, taking a moment to asses the younger female. Her visible red eye roved over the small, slim body, drinking in the sight. Her mechanical one, hidden behind the bangs of her ashen blonde hair, whirled and clicked as it analyzed the girl.
Unfortunately, Clarissa was pulled from her analysis when her sensors picked up the signals of three lifeforms. She hadn't heard of any others from their land arriving here so she was quick to conclude that these people were part of the Guardiani Terrene. Silently, Clarissa wondered how she should greet them. Her people and their people were not on very good terms with each other. There was a chance a fight could break out. She instinctively shifted her body so she could protect Adrianna if anything were to happen.

Niagara Falls, huh? She'd been here once before, though even then Adrianna held nearly no interest in the forms of nature. But she had to admit it was a spectacular view, even if science could make something even more spectacular. Armor that moved without needing a command, it's wires connected directly to her own nervous system. Adrianna's suit of armor was always with her, and if she were ever in danger, it would activate. Right now, it sat in a small, compressed pack that she carried on her back, dormant until that danger arrived. For now, she could show off her lean, well-defined, mostly natural body.
Science wasn't all about making machines or saving lives from disaster, or replacing lost body parts. For Adrianna, it was all of those things plus enhancing natural hormones and body performance. Adrianna has the ability to focus on every tiny droplet of moisture in the air, if she desired it. Meddling with receptors in the eyes of lab rats allowed her to enhance their sight, making them able to spot things from a long distance or focus in on the minute details of an object, though not quite at a cellular level.
Adrianna felt eyes on her, and immediately knew that it was her closest friend and companion, Clarissa. This excited her a little bit, and her cheeks flushed to the lightest shade of pink. Having someone look at her so thoroughly, especially a girl, always excited Adrianna, she didn't quite understand it, but didn't care much either. It made her insides bubble and her enhanced adrenal glands speed up, which considering the current situation, was not a bad thing.
Three people on the other side of the bridge. Definitely not from Citta del Avvenire by the looks of it. Adrianna focused her sight in on them, but only really looked at one of them. Adrianna licked her lips once. It was a girl. A cute girl.

Re: Styrofoam Clouds - Natura
Vincent was content on following Ereth calmly. He had full awareness of the danger in this situation, he just couldn't worry. He never did. In the end, Mother would crush all that hurt her, like ants. it had always been like that, it would always remain like that. The way he saw it, they were all just toys. He was ok with it. I was rather amusing to be a toy.
He had been practicing his geomancy lately, harmonising with the rivers, lakes and vegetaion, which meant this place was superb, it called him, appealed to all his sense, to his very being. One could not be calmer, his blue coat flowing in the wind, his eyes closed, a serene smile on his face.
Eventually, however, he heard Ereth's voice. Well, mission was probably there. He opened his eyes in time to hear one of the people far across the bridge mutter something, which he didn't understand. The sound of the water flowing was much too delicious for him to care.
-You are always so serious, Ereth...don't worry, we got this, just listen to the falls...
However, Vincent did draw his pistol from it's hold. And he did start loading it with the crystaline bullets he carrieed around...

"My mood only reflects the seriousness of the situation, Vincent," Ereth sighed, eyelids drooping slightly as he shook his head. Did these Citta members really think they were going to infiltrate their territory and get off without any consequences? To taint the purity of nature with their foul touch was a crime punishable by death in these parts. They surely knew that. The conflict between nature and machines had been existing long enough. Brushing some of his dark blue bangs from his face, he allowed his gaze to fall upon the one who had addressed the group from afar. It looked like he was collecting water from the falls, probably for some sick experiment or some such back in New York. How brave of them to infiltrate this far into Guardiani territory. Bold, but reckless.
"A breath of fresh air is something you are not entitled to," Ereth shot at the man with a cool sort of anger. "You gave up fresh air in exchange for smog--an air you cannot breathe in without a gas mask upon your face. It would be wise of you to surrender what you have taken and turn around." Here, he paused and gripped the pole supporting his lantern a bit more fiercely, the fire within seeming to blaze that much more brightly. "Unless you wish for us to take it back by force." His eyes were stoic, the light of his lantern making them seem to gleam in conjunction with the wrath blazing deep within. So aloof had that man sounded that Ereth wished he could give him a right good smack. He almost hoped they would make the wrong decision so he and his compatriots could lay waste to them. There was never any crime in reducing the taint that caused this planet to decay to the state that it happened to be in today. Mother Nature condoned it. All was well.
The day they think us beings of complete peace will be the day they die for underestimating our strength of will, Ereth thought, gaze never faltering. Peace was something we strove for earlier on, but we have been forced into action. Their deaths will be their own fault.

Celina remained as relaxed as her body would allow, the thin stream of water that surrounded her tightening its embrace. "Breathe, Celina." she thought verbatim, taking another short inhale of the fresh air. What Ereth said was true: these people did not deserve the air they breathed–they chose pollution and technology over anything else. It wasn't the kindest punishment, but it was just. However, the Aquamancer did not focus on the people (even the girl who seemed to be staring at her), but rather her eyes remained locked on the container holding some of the water from the falls.
An innate desire to wrench it from their grimy hands planted itself in her core. They did not deserve the pure liquid–not when they chose to dump pollutants in their own. Celina shifted uncomfortably, the water snaking around her becoming strangely rigid as she inched closer to Ereth. "Ereth... can I? I... I don't know if I'm able to with that technology in the way but..." she fumbled with her words, half-whispered as she wrapped her arms around her being to avoid her shaking nerves. "They can't have it. I refuse to let them leave with it." she added quietly, her voice surprisingly stalwart despite her the extremely slight tremble in her legs.

Athos's cheshire grin subsided only slightly as Ereth's acetic tongue began to spit warnings at the scientist and his crew, his composure remaining upright and complete, his smug, condescendingly playful eyes laughing mercifully at the shirtless naturalist before him. He exhaled a long, drawn out and exhausted sigh as he knelt toward his manufactured rabbit. "You folk sure are quite the aesthetes, aren't you?" He caressed the creature for only a moment before flourishing upward as he lunged his arms into the air, marveling at the falls, and even the naturally constructed, wooden-and-root bridge upon which they stood. "Everything's all about appearance with you people, isn't it?" He scoffed, "I mean, sure, I love the intricate, super cute (note the emphasis on "super cute," spoken drolly and childishly) patterns on tree bark, but will you ever find any meaning in it?"
"To find meaning within something you need to scrape deeper than just the surface, deeper than just the silly ol' sparkles and shinies on top!" He spun around, almost accidentally kicking his little rabbit in the ear. He missed, luckily, though the rabbit remained unfazed despite the whole affair. "Sure, Mr. Nature, you've got wonderful tits and all, but how does that brain of yours work? Has your noggin developed intricate theories on the relationship between stimulus and pleasure in the human body? Have you increased the efficiency of technological manpower by tenfold over the course of seven years? Could you even tell me basics of string theory? Come on now, you know nothing, Mr. Tits!"
"So just let us take the water!" Athos beckoned as his view shifted from Ereth to the young, well-endowed girl, "You seem like you want to say something, Miss Exhibitionist. I mean, if you people truly think natural beauty equates to worth, then this young lady is probably smarter than all of us combined. Just look at her jugs, beautiful, right? Big tits, big mind? Tell me how the world ticks, little girl. Why shouldn't I take the water?"
"Come on, speak up now. I haven't the time to waste. My lungs have gotten the shower they need and I'd like to return home."
At some point during Athos's tangent, his curvy grin had rejuvenated back into its original, murderously cheerful smile.

Re: Styrofoam Clouds - Natura
There he goes again. Athos, once again, using that overly large mouth of his to describe the beauty of science. Adrianna should have known this would happen. He's always said he hates to talk, but he does it all the freaking time. This time it wasn't her fault. Or Clarissa's fault. But even so, it was always amusing to her Athos ramble, especially when he started talking about tits.
Adrianna looked back at the girl across the bridge. Did she see...yes, she did. The girl was quivering from the legs. It was only slight, but she noticed it thanks to her improved eyesight. Was she scared? Or was this some...other emotion? Did being around nature excite her? Was she getting off on being around nature? Now THAT is weird. For once, Athos called someone something that wasn't too far from the truth. Exhibitionist.
"And to think, Athos," Adrianna spoke quietly, but firmly, her small size a strong contrast to her stony voice. "They're making a big deal about a vial of water. Tiny little droplets of water, hardly enough for more than a single experiment. Think of how they might react to us draining the water by the liter?" Adrianna stopped for a moment, considering the possibility. How would they transport a thousand liters from here all the way back home? They'd have to set up some sort of base here. Which was unlikely, considering the location. These naturalists wouldn't enjoy them setting up a base here and taking water.

Which was unlikely, considering the location. These naturalists wouldn't enjoy them setting up a base here and taking water.

Re: Styrofoam Clouds - Natura
Celina's body went unnaturally rigid when Athos' attention spotlighted on her. "Excuse me?" she whispered almost inaudibly, her arms wrapping around her chest a little tighter, the shaking in her frame having halted in exchange for her pulling into herself. Miss Exhibitionist? She frowned, but quickly wiped the look from her face. "Don't let him play mind games..." she reprimanded and breathed in sharply. Her stance returned to the state it had been, although her legs no longer shook–she maintained a rather firm composure, her purple eyes locked on Athos.
"You taint everything you touch," she growled, eyes shifting to the water vial. "Even there in that tiny tube your very presence corrupts the purity of that water–of this whole sanctuary. Whatever plans you have for that vial will only seek to further the ruin your faction has forced upon the world, and I refuse to let you destroy something so pure." The stream of water wrapping around her snaked into the shape of whip, not even connected at her hand, but floating coiled up, just waiting for her willpower to bend it. "Return the water."

Vincent was just watching the whole circus catch on fire, as they used to say back home. WAY back home. When home was still breathable, I mean. He yawned lazily, shaking his pistol around like it was some toy. Of course, he had already loaded it. And of course, his hand might not show it, but it was firm and calculated. And of course he stiffened his body as soon as the weird machine girl mentioned draining liters, and by the time Celina was losing it to rage, his gun was already pointed at the cilinder.
-Ok Ereth, this is not funny anymore, give the order and I'll blast that glass into nihilism. I think it's about time we went luddite on them...

Re: Styrofoam Clouds - Natura
The wind picked up causing a gentle sprays of water to fall upon the two groups standing upon the bridge. Ereth's cloak fluttered with the crisp breeze, the man himself finding an amused smirk crawling onto his face, his eyes half-lidded. This was the last frontier of peace upon this planet for the most part, and here the Avvenire fools stood wishing harm upon it. Ereth shook his head, taking a hand and placing it upon his bare sternum, his creamy white skin smooth to the touch. "If only the bullshit spewing from your mouth could be used as fertilizer, we would have enough to fill this whole continent with nature once again," he said abrasively in a rather light tone. He placed a hand on Celina's shoulder as if to calm her. He was glad that she was ready to act, and Vincent was as well. The geomancer was already entering his battle stance. "They will return it." Here, he paused and waved his pole through the air causing his lantern to swing along with it leaving a trail of ghostly light.
"After all, that is what we're here for."
Draining liters of water...that was unsettling, but should they have tried that, naught but death would come from it. The guardian of the falls would not allow for it. The guardian, a powerful nature spirit itself possessing great size and strength would unleash the torrents of the walls and use them as a weapon. Not even the machines would be able to combat that which made this frontier all the more safe. Unfortunately, it could only be provoked into action. If such a force were readily at their side, they could march on New York and claim the world once again for the sake of nature. Alas, things were not always that easy.
"Guardiani Terrene, ready yourselves for combat," Ereth issued his command. "For our world steeped in decay, we will fight forever to bring life back into this planet."
And so began the struggle.

Celina starts at D2!
Celina physically relaxed when Ereth placed his hand on her shoulder, tension leaving her frame, but fire remaining in her eyes. Locked on the tiny vial, she readied her stance–arms drawn out in front to protect her vital weak points. In response, the streamed water drew itself in, around her arms, without touching her. The fight was on: this man and his compatriots would not leave with that water; she would not allow it.

Adrianna starts in F-8
Even the slightest provocation would cause this to happen, Adrianna was surprised it didn't activate before now. She would have to fix a few bugs later. The armored suit that had sat on her back sprung to life, expanding and enveloping Adrianna in strong metal, transforming the small, adorable frame into a monstrous power suit. Project ALPHONSE is now online. Her suit announced, alerting those nearby that her armor was now protecting every part of her body. Project ROY activating. With this next command, the metal clump on Adrianna's left arm that seemed a bit excessive for armor began to shift, changing forms until it formed this great, mechanical broadsword, which was almost as large as her own body.
Adrianna waved the giant sword through the air, pointing it at Guardiani Terrene. "So you have wished for battle, so you shall receive it!" Adrianna declared, her voice masked slightly by the machine that protected her.

Re: Styrofoam Clouds - Natura
"Hostile entities located," Clarissa automatically recited, her mechanical eye zooming in on their targets. Her mechanical arm let loose a spark as it activated, power emitting from all lines running to it. The circular hole in the palm glowed with electricity. "All systems are green. Preparing for combat." She flicked her cape back so it would not get in her way and focused. "Shall I proceed at maximum output?"
In truth, Clarissa held no ill will toward their foes. She had nothing against. But seeing as how her friends were activating their arms and so too were the other side, Clarissa really had no choice in the matter. Her loyalty towards Athos and Adrianna, especially Adrianna, far outweighed anything else. Her single, most important priority was safety and well-being. Anyone and anything that threatened that would have to get through her.
"Proceeding to eliminate all enemy threats," she stated, ready for combat.

Following Ereth's sign, Vincent took a large jump, landing on the bridge's railing. The only thing around he could possibly use was water, and he planned to be as close to it as possible. His landing was impossibly smooth. The wanderer seemed to have no trouble balancing himself on the rail. In fact, even to the most precise eyes, he didn't seem to need to make any effort to balance at all, like the railing simply accepted him, almost embraced him.
All Vincent knew was his gun was firm on it's target, and the water called to him.
Vincent starts on B-2.

Athos starts at E8.
Athos knelt and stroked his pet's ears with an unparalleled satisfaction, perhaps not because the fur was unbearably soft, but because he just knew the nature buddies would throw a fit when they saw what the creature could do. For the first time in a while, Athos didn't speak. He simply waited for the enemy to strike; not so that he could formulate some sort of cheap advantage, but so that he could show the tree-freaks exactly why machines would always triumph over nature. And so, he did just that:
He waited. He waited with a slick grin plastered across his face.

Ereth moves to E4.
Ereth continued to smile. Detecting hostile threats and eliminating enemies. These "people" standing before the Guardiani were nothing more than machines themselves at this point. They had lost humanity's true values. It was up to him and his allies to set them straight once more, for no one was completely beyond salvation, or at least that's what Ereth thought. For now, however, with so much at stake, these beings needed to be stopped by whatever means necessary. So sure of themselves, they forgot where they found themselves. Ereth closed his eyes and drew in the power of all the nature around him--the wood in the railings on the bridge, and the mighty falls that served as the backdrop for their battle. Oh yes, now THIS was true power. The Familiaris shouldered his lantern and freed one of his hands, holding it outwards towards the man in the middle of the enemy formation. How ideally they were lined up. The bridge began to tremble a bit as solid rock started forming out of the mana that suffused this natural area. "Fangs of the earth rise. Mother, please unleash the crushing force of the earth's maw upon the enemies," Ereth chanted with a subtle smirk upon his face.
A giant spike of pure rock shot upwards, but the spell was far from over. Amplified by the power of nature, more spikes rose and struck Athos's cronies as well, all of them caught by the unsuspecting blow. Ereth's eyes shot open and he glanced to one spot on the bridge. "Mother, grant us protection. Vines, arise and guard!" In response to his command, green particles of mana fused together and formed a wall of vines with a decent width in one area of the bridge. It would take work to expand it, but in the end it would be very useful in keeping the foes at bay, should they wish to engage in close combat which he knew was not exactly what their particular Guardiani group excelled in.

Celina moves to F2!
The Aquamancer shifted toward the people but ultimately moved smoothly past Ereth. As much as she wanted to go on the offensive right away, there was little she could do in terms of damage. The woman opposite her seemed the most durable of the three and she doubted her own ability to fell the girl. Besides, with Ereth's wall of vine spreading outward, getting close would not prove useful. "Let them come to us... then strike." she thought to herself, avoiding eye contact with Athos.

Re: Styrofoam Clouds - Natura
A broad smile came to Vincent's face when he saw Ereth create some piece of greenery. Now this was going to get very fun. Now, he needed to get to a safe spot while waiting for the enemy to engage. He looked around, until he spotted a nice little niche under the waterfall. The Wanderer took a mighty leap, entering the roaring waters like they were nothing but thin rain. He was able to find two rocky projections to use, and grabbed hold of the wall with a foot and a hand, leaving the remaining ones free to shoot. The raging waters fell with might, but seemed to do no harm to the man's body, nor block his sight in any way. For everyone else, on the other hand, there were thousands of tons of water running in front of Vincent.
