Pokemon: A Statistical Oversight Empty Re: Pokemon: A Statistical Oversight

Post by Zerifachias Sun Jun 19, 2016 6:27 pm

Selena Moon
Female, 23 (June 19)

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Soundtracks:
Redesign Me - VersaEmerge
All I Wanted - Paramore
Porcelain - Rachel Taylor

Origin: Johto

Talent/Hobby: Drawing/Painting

Personality: She developed a hard shell over many years of ridicule and has more difficulty opening up to strangers than most do. She is kind when the situation demands but otherwise is distant and prefers solitude, which ends up making her difficult to get along with easily. She is weak against tasty foods - primarily sweets - and often caves into the desire despite her ongoing attempts to stay on a healthy diet.

Background/History: After a few years growing up and traveling through Johto, Selena discovered herself wanting more than what the region could offer her. With no intentions of returning to an abusive father, Selena packed her bags and headed off for other regions. She visited Kanto and Sinnoh, even Unova for a short time before deciding the other regions did not have much to offer her. She had little interest in the Pokemon League in her home and Contests were a foreign thing to her. She felt an emptiness inside her that only the badlands could match.

After three years of traveling, Selena decided to go home and found her father had died the year prior, leaving his old home in her possession, as well as the rest of his belongings as was dictated in the old man's will. The bitterness in her heart did not fade over the years, so this gesture was not seen with the best intentions. She burned the old home to the ground - a testament of her determination to never return to her old life. A fresh start awaited her, a last chance to find whatever will fill that hole in her soul.

Euphoria - Xandria
Tear In My Heart - Twenty One Pilots
Set Me On Fire - Flyleaf
The Wolf - Phildel
The Devil Within - Digital Daggers

Origin: Kalos

Talent/Hobby: Long-Distance Running

Personality: She's always cautious, but is also very friendly and easy to get along with. She enjoys taking risks, always searching for reliable ways to get that burst of adrenaline while mixing her own brand of caution in the mix. She enjoys being around people and will often go out of her way to make new friends, but keeps body language and disinterest in mind - she will not hound someone who rejects her offer.

Background/History: Despite her bubbly personality, Sahara has a past she doesn't like to remember. Most of her life she spent doing whatever it was her parents wanted her to do. Meaning, she was going to be another Nurse Joy in a world already full of them. Having rejected the path she was supposedly born for, Sahara holds resentment for her parents and other Joys, though she never allows those feelings to surface. To escape from that life, however, she was forced to run away from home and take on a new name. Hoenn seemed perfect.

Sahara first began her training to be a nurse like all the others. She is exceptional in the craft, but never had any interest in it. That lack of interest was worrying to her instructors and they disallowed her from leaving the facility. But, after convincing Professor Sycamore to help her - a task that proved to be very simple - Sahara soon obtained the opportunity to leave the continent with a new friend. Now she travels to Hoenn without once looking back at her old life.

Adrienne Junebug
Female, 23 (June 1)

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Soundtrack:
Riptide - Emma Stevens
Lonely People - Orla Gartland
Fools - Lauren Aquilina
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Adore - Jasmine Thompson
Ain't Nobody - Felix Jaehn

Origin: Kanto

Talent/Hobby: Dancing; Singing

Personality: Cheerful and oblivious to a fault, Adrienne often has a hard time making friends due to her overly attached personality. She has a need for human connection and finds great pleasure in being the center of attention, though she will hand over the spotlight without any issues. Her extroverted tendencies let her approach strangers without fear or worry about certain boundaries. Adrienne is most known for her extreme distaste of anything bitter.

Background/History: Adrienne grew up in Saffron City. While she aged, she knew next to nothing about the world outside of her television. Too many times she was called on to go outside, only to hide away in some nearby crevice or hole which her parents then had to fish her out of using sweets or promises to let her stay up late. Thus she grew up spoiled, but not to the point of ruin - as her parents were incredibly relieved to find out. The girl grew up to be far more adventurous than anyone could have predicted. After all her time spent in front of the television watching a plethora of shows made her actually want to go outside for once.

It took only three days of exploring the outdoors before Adrienne decided it was high time to actually make something of her life. With her parent's permission and after driving her to Pallet Town to visit Professor Oak, Adrienne picked up her first Pokemon and set about traveling around Kanto. Her first gym challenge against Brock went well despite her loss, but Adrienne did not visit any more of the gyms after that, instead focusing more on exploring than anything else.

After Kanto, Adrienne wanted to see more, and Hoenn was right around the corner and absolutely covered in water. It would be the perfect place to go and explore. Not to mention it offered something that would get Adrienne the attention she desired so much. Pokemon Contests were more her style than the Pokemon League.

Primary Pokemon: Bulbasaur (Grass/Poison) (Overgrow)
Poisonpowder
Razor Leaf (!)
Take Down
Grass Pledge (!)

Secondary Pokemon: Zubat (Flying/Poison) (Inner Focus)
Poison Fang (!)

Gabriel Stiles
Male, 21 (January 1)

Appearance:
Spoiler:
Playlist:
Dreamer - Ghost Town
Sleepwalking - Bring Me The Horizon
A Dream In Static - Earthside
The Dying Hymn - The Color Morale
Lift - Poets Of The Fall
Stick To Your Guns - Sick Puppies
Gotta Go Home - Expatriate
I'll Keep Coming - Low Roar

Origin: Sinnoh (Sunyshore City)

Talent/Hobby: Cooking, Slacking off

Personality: Gabriel is a rather lazy youth who is vehement in attempts to avoid work, and tends to speak at times with uncertainty or indecisiveness in his voice. Despite his aloof demeanor and stern resting face, he isn't difficult to befriend as long as the other person doesn't display an intolerable amount of obnoxious behavior. He plans on exclusively catching Steel-type Pokemon and has proficient knowledge in battle theory and type-matchups.

Background/History: Born and raised in Sinnoh, Gabriel spent a lot of time moving back and forth between Sunyshore and Canalave City due to his father's construction job. At the age of 18, Gabriel stayed at the Battle Frontier to attend North Sinnoh University where he flunked out due to lack of interest in his studies. However he claims to have earned a Doctorate in "Taking Shit" as well as a Master's Degree in "Student Loan Debt". Knowing that his failure at the university would result in his father pressuring him to work with him at the construction job for a life of hard manual labor, Gabriel decided to depart to Hoenn in hopes of making a grand accomplishment of himself.

Living near the beaches and piers his entire life had made him accustomed to being around so much water, so Hoenn seemed like the ideal region to move to. Pokemon Centers provided free food and shelter for professional trainers, and thus Gabriel's lifestyle decision was set. So long as he received his Pokedex from Littleroot and registered to become official, Gabriel would never have to worry about work again.

Starter Pokemon: Piplup (Water)(Torrent)
Water Pledge (!)
Drill Peck
Icy Wind

Secondary Pokemon: Honedge ☆ (Steel/Ghost)(No Guard)

Pokemon: A Statistical Oversight Empty Re: Pokemon: A Statistical Oversight

Post by Vergil Mon Jun 20, 2016 10:31 am

Minerva Belrose
Female, 25 (November 19)

Appearance:
Spoiler:
Playlist:
Love Psalm - Mary Elizabeth McGlynn
Empty Eyes - Within Temptation
Do Your Worst - New Year's Day
Where Do We Draw The Line - Poets Of The Fall
Leviathan - Dirt Poor Robins
Ghost Opera - Kamelot
The Escapist - Nightwish
Let It Burn - Red

Origin: Kanto (Cinnabar Island)

Talent/Hobby: Pokemon Breeding, Plundering/Wasteland Survival

Personality: Minerva tends to be calm and pragmatic, not being very acquainted with her more delicate emotions. Her words come out as blunt as there is hardly a filter for whatever opinions she may hold of others, whether it be in a positive or negative light. Underneath the dry wit, a darker side of her shows her to be manipulative of others and in some cases, downright Machiavellian in her interactions. She will initially introduce herself as "Katherine" to those she meets, only allowing those she trusts with her real name. She is used to being alone, however she is not opposed to the idea of company. She also likes being complimented and enjoys fine dining.

Background/History: Minerva was one of the few inhabitants that survived the Cinnabar Island volcanic eruption that reduced the town into an ashen desert. She was left behind when the rest of the town evacuated onto the mainland, surviving by scavenging the remnants of shops for food that was still intact, and utilizing metal pots as collectors for rainwater. One day a helicopter arrived, and rappelling from it were men and women dressed in black. They had come to see if they could salvage specimens from Cinnabar's lab, but instead found Minerva. They took her along  under the conditions that she would join their organization to be trained as one of their operatives, and that was the day Minerva became a part of Team Rocket.

She was assigned and trained as an infiltrator and retriever, as she learned to lockpick while scavenging Cinnabar, which proved useful in situations that called for breaking and entering - which was almost all of them. Her finesse allowed her to extract fragile valuables in pristine condition, and she would come to  prove herself in the battling department. Minerva's advice to the grunts that came to her seeking to improve themselves was simply to "stop using only Rattata and Zubat". Her tenure in Team Rocket would not last, however, as a single trainer was reported to have defeated the boss himself, and the organization was forced to disband in shame.

Minerva found herself working several part-time jobs in Celadon City and lived in one of the apartments, earning an honest living for another few years. When she overheard of law enforcement cracking down to arrest anyone with former ties to Team Rocket, she knew she could no longer stay in Kanto. She fled to Vermilion City's port and stowed away onboard the ship, not knowing where it would lead her.

Starter Pokemon: Bulbasaur (Grass/Poison)(Overgrow)
Giga Drain (!)
Sludge Bomb (!)
Leech Seed
Toxic

Secondary Pokemon: Misdreavus (Ghost)(Levitate)
Shadow Ball (!)
Perish Song
Mean Look
Pain Split

Inventory:

Potion (x2) - 3 uses, heals injuries.

Antidote (x1) - 2 uses, cures Poisoned/Badly Poisoned.

X Speed (x1) - A special vitamin supplement given to enhance a Pokemon's alacrity for a short amount of time.

Pokemon: A Statistical Oversight Empty Re: Pokemon: A Statistical Oversight

Merrick Hoschild#9c312a

Melanie Hoschild#ba4c70

Claire Ashelund#92496D

Perceval Beckenridge#6a28ad

– – – – –

Name: Merrick Hoschild (February 14th)
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Spoiler:

Origin: Kanto
Talent/Hobby: Theatre Performance, Singing

Personality: Incredibly extroverted and eager to make friends. A kind soul with a heart full of compassion for others – it is rare for him to not be considered a friend-to-all. He is also fiercely loyal and will go to great lengths to be available and a solid support for his friends. Has a tendency to talk a little too much for some people's tastes, but means well and can recognize when it is not socially acceptable to say anything more. Doesn't always handle criticism well.

Background: Born second in Olivine City to Jackson and Diana Hoschild, Merrick eventually went to live primarily with his father in Saffron City when his parents eventually split. He took after the man who raised him and flourished in school from a young age – always popular and surrounded by friends. He spent much of his time out in the streets of the city with friends getting lost and having the time of his life as he created both art and memories with pretty much everyone around him. Of course, he would always visit his sister and mother at times to share these experiences with them.

When the time came for him to venture out on a Pokémon journey, he chose to tackle the Contest Challenge and traveled to Pallet Town to receive his Charmander from Professor Oak. He then rejoined his sister and the two spent some time traveling around select parts of Kanto and Johto. Although neither really progressed too incredibly far along their respective challenges, they enjoyed their first truly shared life together. Eventually, those challenges became less important to both of them and they merely explored – this, of course, did not last long when news of the calamity occurring in Hoenn reached them.

Merrick was called back to his home in Saffron where he lived grudgingly with his father until the waves of fear flowed back out like the sea. Five years passed and news of a new challenge in Hoenn spread like wildfire. Merrick knew that this was the chance to have a real journey this time and left home to join his sister. Together they left on a ferry from Olivine and headed for Hoenn. This time, they would finish what they started.

– – – – –

Name: Melanie Hoschild (February 14th)
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Spoiler:

Origin: Johto
Talent/Hobby: Technical Theatre, Piano

Personality: On the shyer side, but not a total introvert. Not quick to warm up to new people, preferring to feel out people before giving them her trust. Incredibly affectionate to those close to her. This sweetness is not without spice, however, for while difficult, it is highly possible to get on her bad side. Angering her should not be taken lightly: she suffers no fools and will not tolerate those who would betray her trust. Extremely protective of her ("younger") brother and will jump to his defense in a heartbeat.

Background: Born first in Olivine City to Jackson and Diana Hoschild, Melanie eventually went to live primarily with her mother in Goldenrod City when her parents eventually split. She took after the woman who raised her and flourished in school from a young age – quietly studious with a few close friends. She spent much of her time at home playing the piano and playing with the Pokémon owned by the tenants neighboring their small apartment. She never found herself dying to experience the stories and photos her brother shared for herself, but always joined him when she would visit him and their father.

When the time came for her to venture out on a Pokémon journey, she chose to tackle the Gym Challenge and traveled to New Bark town to receive her Cyndaquil from Professor Elm. She then rejoined her brother and the two spent some time traveling around select parts of Kanto and Johto. Although neither really progressed too incredibly far along their respective challenges, they enjoyed their first truly shared life together. Eventually, those challenges became less important to both of them and they merely explored – this, of course, did not last long when news of the calamity occurring in Hoenn reached them.

Melanie was called back to her home in Goldenrod where she lived easily enough with her mother until the tremors that shook the sands of fear settled like the land beneath their feet. Five years passed and news of a new challenge in Hoenn spread like wildfire. Melanie knew that this was the chance to prove herself for real and left home with her brother in tow. Together they left on a ferry from Olivine and headed for Hoenn. This time, they would finish what they started.

Pokémon:

Inventory:

– – – – –

Name: Perceval Beckenridge (July 17th)
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Spoiler:

Origin: Hoenn
Talent/Hobby: Pokémon Evolution Study, Berry Farming

Personality: Independent and unwilling to compromise his self-sufficiency. Generally kind or, at least, politely civil with everyone even if he disagrees with their view on life. Tends to say what's on his mind and doesn't sugarcoat anything. Extremely confident in both his and his Pokémon's abilities, almost to a fault. Although not incredibly close to his family after years of travel, he is very much his parents' "baby boy" and doesn't argue with them when they want to spoil him. Rarely recognizes when someone is flirting with him and gets flustered when this is pointed out – definitely not the commitment or romantic type.

Background: Born an only child of executives at Jubilife TV, Perceval (or Percy as he regularly insisted) grew up in the care of nannies and au pairs until his maternal grandparents, after years of arguing with their daughter, offered him the chance to live with them. The young boy, quite tired of spending his days cooped up in his parents' apartment, gladly accepted his grandparents' offer and moved to their berry orchard in Floraroma Town on his sixth birthday. Quite an active and curious child, Percy rarely slept in and typically helped his grandfather with caring for the many different berry plants that they raised – all along enjoying meeting the different Pokémon that were attracted by the fresh fruit and flowers.

For the next four years, he spent his time between helping his grandparents with the orchard and listening to both Professor Rowan and Professor Oak's broadcasts. The latter soon became his entire world. Although he enjoyed his life of farming, he yearned to study Pokémon and learn what secrets they held; his grandparents, recognizing this spark of passion, sought to sate his hunger and, on his ninth birthday, presented him with a special Eevee to take care of in preparation for the day he would turn ten and be able to venture out as a Pokémon Trainer. Over the course of that next year, Percy trained in his spare time in hopes to be able to take on the Sinnoh League. His parents, however, approached him just a few short months before his tenth birthday with some unfortunate news – they were being transferred to the Hoenn News Network and did not want him to be so far away. Reluctantly, Percy said goodbye to his grandparents and moved with his mother and father to Lilycove City.

After arriving at his new home in Lilycove, Percy did not hit the ground running as planned – his parents did not like the idea of him leaving home so soon after moving and so he remained in Lilycove for some time. He spent his days over quietly with his Eevee, training but never straying too far from the city limits. His habit of studying Pokémon continued nevertheless; although his mind would wander and his personal research would drift from Pokémon to Pokémon, his heart always found its way back to his Eevee. With time, he decided to focus his research on evolution – Eevee was the prime candidate for study based on the fact that it could evolve into eight different types of Pokémon. Late night study sessions ended up yielding great results as his Eevee eventually evolved into an Umbreon. At that moment, Percy knew he had to be able to study them all.

He set off on his journey a few short months after turning eighteen – it took him several years, especially in traveling around Hoenn, but he eventually managed to capture seven more Eevees. His studying them encapsulated much of his time and he traveled all over in order to ensure he could complete his research. No rock in Hoenn was left unturned: he hit everywhere from Petalburg Woods to Shoal Cave to the (previously unrennovated) Sky Pillar. In the end, he settled in Pacifidlog Town to continue his studies in a settled location, but his plans were quickly changed when Team Magma and Aqua attempted to reawaken and control Groudon and Kyogre. Unable to sit back and watch in fear, Percy set off in an attempt to assist with releasing the ancient Pokémon; his efforts were rather fruitless apart from fending off some grunts before being defeated by some upper-level officers. Not prepared to watch the end of the world, he escaped and set up a Secret Base on Route 120 – thanks to his grandparents' berry farming techniques and some careful budgeting, Percy managed to set up a bunker.

This, of course, proved less than necessary as both Team Magma and Team Aqua were soon vanquished – the ancient Pokémon were freed and calamity was averted. Percy's days slowly shifted back to studying. A typical routine that only managed to be broken up by passerby trainer who stumbled upon his base. Although much younger than him, the trainer left him with a startling message: "Your Pokémon may be content, but they aren't happy. You're caring for them, but not allowing them to truly live." It was after that surprise visit that Percy decided to take a change of pace – he set his sights on the newly built Magnic Tower and decided to try his hand at both the Hoenn League and the Contest Spectaculars. He knew his Pokémon would guide him.
