He already knows. He knows Shadow's D-Ability is Dark too. I think he checked the character profiles.

Since D-Abilities are insta-KO whenever the target has 50% or less health...

Even if it does no damage, it would still kill it, since it's an instant KO, damage isn't calculated. :3
