Castle in the Sky Empty Castle in the Sky

Post by Xenosaga Fri Jan 22, 2010 6:10 pm

This is a one on one roleplay between me and Masquerade. Let's have fun, okay Masq?
-----

In the world of Fendaerian, there is a single castle that floats in the sky. Brighter than any star or even the sun, it was looked upon as the residence of the gods for no one, creature or human, could possibly reach it. And clouds never covered it, never tried to conceal it from view. People believed it to be holy and of great importance.

One day, it vanished. Unable to understand what had happened, people began to talk. Rumors spread like wildfire and the people of the world knew it to be a bad omen. And they were right. For not a day later did things begin to appear.

Mutated animals, plants, people and corpses began to arise, attacking anything in sight. Towns, villages and whole kingdoms were ravaged. They could not protect themselves from the attack from things they had never seen before. Darkness befell the land, people escaping to the east in order to take refuge in the Kingdom of Gunduor. It was the only safe haven around, the kingdom being renowned for its fierce soldiers and impenetrable defenses.

Years passed and nothing changed. That is, until a single wanderer appeared before the King of Gunduor in a whirl of shadows. She told him that she alone knew how to save the world. But to do so, she first needed to reach in the castle in the sky. She told him that it still existed, just hidden from the view of humans. She requested five other to accompany her. The King, desperate to protect his Kingdom and his people, agreed.

And that is how it all began.

We'll be controlling three characters each, not including any random minor characters that appear to help out.

Name:
Gender:
Age:
Appearance:
Personality:
Background:

My characters.

Name: Luna Carren
Gender: Female
Age: 20

Appearance: Born with beautiful golden hair, Luna ended up cutting it when she became a soldier and keeps it up in a bun. Her bangs hang at the side of her face, the ones that used to hang over her eyes ended up being pinned up by a blue hair clip. Her eyes are a dark blue, which brighten when she is amused and darken with she is angered. Her skin is slightly tanned due to her times training and defeating monsters that came too close to the castle walls.

Personality: Filled with determination, Luna will always finish her mission and has a rather no-nonsense attitude. She does not believe in failure and absolutely refuses to leave a job undone. Luna is quite overprotective of her brother, Richard. She does have a bit of a sense of humor, unlike her brother and tends to tease him a lot. Other times, she is serious and highly capable of protecting herself and others around her. Incredibly reliable and responsible, mostly due to Richard's nagging, one can always turn to her for help.

Background: An orphan, Luna's village was one of the first to be ravaged. She was able to escape with her brother Richard and miraculously made it safely to Gunduor. Her parents weren't so lucky.

In Gunduor, she entered and served as a soldier in the army, steadily making her way up to the ranks. She has gained enough fame to be called the Silver Lancet, due to her gleaming silver armor and her main choice of weapon being a lance. Not to mention her rather incredible battle prowess for one so young.

Name: Richard Carren
Gender: Male
Age: 18

Appearance: Richard was born with hair the same color as Luna's eyes. He has never bothered to cut it, causing it to lengthen and keeps it held together in a low ponytail to keep it out of the way. His eyes are a brighter blue, almost cerulean, and he wears a pair of silver rimmed glasses. His skin is much lighter than his sisters due to his time holed up inside the castle, working through papers and the like.

Personality: An impatient person, Richard likes to do everything on time. He doesn't like it when people leave things for the last minute nor does he like it when people try to extend their given time. He has a mature personality and is somewhat strict. He resembles a mother or teacher in some ways. Richard has a habit of constantly checking the silver pocket watch that hangs at his side, despite the fact that it has long since stopped working.

Background: Luna's younger brother, Richard works as a Historian in the castle's library. He helps organize and review reports, books and other things of importance.

Ever since he was a child, Richard has always had a fascination with books. He would hole up in his room reading large amounts of books. Luna used to tease him all the time about it, telling him about how he would never get any friends like that and everyone would believe him to be some kind of bookworm. He was able to learn many things and is incredibly knowledgeable about the world.

When he was younger, his sister gave him a silver pocket watch for his birthday. He has kept it with him ever since.

Name: Sin Harvest
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown

Appearance: Cloaked in black, Sin's true appearance is completely hidden. The only thing that can be seen is wisps of darkness that curl at the hems of her cloak and glowing red eyes from under the hood over her head. Not even her own feet can be seen, making it seem as if she's gliding when she moves.

Personality: Quiet and almost anti-social, Sin does not speak unless spoken to or telling something of great important. She can be seen as cold and unfeeling but in truth, she just doesn't have the emotional capacity to care. Sin does not understand many concepts a normal human would, making one wonder what she truly is. Or, at least, where she's been living.

Background: Error.

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Post by Masquerade Fri Jan 22, 2010 6:43 pm

Yesh. ^ ^ Let's have fun~! Here are my characters:

Name: Abel Candelite
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Appearance:
Spoiler:

Personality: He constantly wears the same expression on his face which is one of determination and indifference. Completely oblivious to the things around him, Abel constantly focuses on a single goal: his search. Humor evades him, and so do grave situations. He avoids the extreme ends of the spectrum, tending to stay right in the middle where he feels comfortable. His determination grants him the ability to adapt to many obstacles, however, and he will perform amazingly in social situations as long as it draws him nearer to his goal.

Background: A very long time ago, something was lost. In the village that held the lost thing, chaos arose. It had to be found. So, the village elder designated a single family to bear the responsibility of finding the lost item. Many decades passed as each descendent of the family was expelled from the village to go on a journey to search for the missing item. Thus, around the present day, Abel set about his journey. However, Abel didn't even know what it was he was searching for because the name of the item was lost in time. Yet the elder was certain that Abel would know it when he saw it.

Abel set about on his adventure and wound up in the Kingdom of Gunduor. Tired from his journey, Abel decided to rest, but no sooner had he settled had information about the castle in the sky arose. A single thought crossed his mind: What if what he was searching for was in the castle in the sky? With renewed vigor, Abel desperately planned on a way to get to the castle in the sky, though it would be near impossible. Impossible doesn't exist in Abel's vocabulary.

Name: Roger Valentine
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Appearance:
Spoiler:

Personality: Roger is extremely shy and timid. He's not used to people and tends not to say a lot around them. He gets flustered when gifted with too much attention and prefers to be alone. However, his cuteness and timidity garner a lot of attention from passersby and he cringes when people notice him. The knightsword he carries around also draws attention, for someone so young carrying a weapon in the streets is quite unusual.

Background: In a faraway kingdom, a horrid tyrant king took the throne and chaos was wrought upon the people of that kingdom. His name was Albert Valentine, the Chaos Knight. He would constantly have women brought in to him against their will and rape them. All the women, however, evaded pregnancy for some reason, except for one. Nine months after the women had been raped by the Chaos Knight, she gave birth to her son, Roger. After discovering he had an heir, Albert sent his 13 High Order Knights to kidnap the boy. Albert taught him and prepared him to take the throne, until a baker, his assistant, a noble, and a blacksmith staged a coup and assassinated the king. Roger, at the age of 12, was exiled from the kingdom, simply from being the king's heir, though he knew that they could have just as easily killed him.

Thus, Roger wandered the lands all alone, and he had to learn to fend for himself lest he fall into the grasp of death. It was not long before Roger stepped foot in the Kingdom of Gunduor. Living off the streets was easy. It was around that time that, after some begging, Roger acquired enough money to buy himself a knightsword and he threw away the dagger he had stolen at the very beginning of his excommunication. He taught himself to use it and eventually was able to take on easy bounty requests, but only from those shady folks who cared not about his age. And so he continued to work and earn enough money for a small shack where he still lives today.

Name: Rin Kaminaga
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Appearance:
Spoiler:

Personality: Rin is extremely dignified and confident in her abilities. She does not know the definition of humor and despises those who make light of serious situations. Despite her severity and overall seriousness, she values more than anything and seeks to protect them with her strength. Though, her past has left her without friends and thus she remains extremely cold and she makes sure not to open her heart to people in fears of it getting crushed. Without emotional stability, she fears that her abilities may falter.

Background: Born under the darkness of the new moon in a small village that believes in all the superstitions they have created, Rin was thought to be a bad omen. Her and her family were forced into an isolated part of the village and were not allowed to interact with anyone. The family had a courier that would take care of any errands that needed to be carried out in town. Since she was raised as a bad omen, as a child, she believed she was one and ran away from home hoping her family would be received back into the community. And she was right.

However, she found it difficult to survive on her own until she was adopted by a couple living in a strange village isolated in a dense forest, far from any other village and out of the reach of any kingdom. They taught her the ways of their family and their village until she was 13 years old. On the day of her 13th birthday, a catastrophe struck the town. Fireballs descended from the sky and scorched the village leaving only Rin alive. She was shaken by the event, for everything that she had grown so close to had perished. She made a vow that she would never let anything else into her heart, for she knew that her being a bad omen would only bring about a disaster on those of whom she loved. So, she ran away from the ashes of her fallen village and didn't stop until she finally stepped foot in the Kingdom of Gunduor where she seeked solace from her troubling thoughts.

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Post by Xenosaga Fri Jan 22, 2010 8:31 pm

Richard scowled darkly, glaring almost hatefully at the report in front of him. A report that should have been due three days ago. He furiously read through it and once finished, stabbed his writing utensil straight through the paper and into the oak desk. Luna blinked at the sound, lowering the book she was reading to raise an eyebrow at her brother. That was probably the thirtieth one he had ruined.

The two were in the castle library where Richard was, as usual, going over some random soldiers' reports on expeditions they had gone on or anything suspicious they had noticed during their patrols. Luna, who was off duty at the moment, had decided to stop by to keep her brother company. He was usually alone in the library and she didn't want him to become some sort of hermit whose only human contact was the messenger.

Realizing what exactly it was her younger sibling was angry about, the lancer rolled her eyes, concentrating on her book again. Richard scribbled something on a paper, mumbling darkly with an evil glint in his eyes. Luna ignored it. No doubt he was giving whoever had sent in the late report the duty of cleaning out the sewers. It was almost too easy to guess what was going through the male's mind.

Silence fell upon them again, with only the scribbling of pen on paper to fill the air. Luna idly turned a page, musing over what exactly a Menghis was. These books really needed to add some description about some of the stuff they talked about. She was about ready to open up a Bestiary or something.

Suddenly, the sound of a door creaking open was heard and Richard lifted his head. A rather timid looking messenger stood at the doorway, peeking through the still half-open door. The Historian frowned, looking meaningfully at the boy. The messenger flinched, nearly slamming the door open and rushed over to the male. He flailed, nearly dropping the scroll in his hands. Miraculously, the clumsy boy was able to place it on the desk before turning around and dashing back out of the room. Luna, who had lowered her book again to watch the proceedings, raised an eyebrow.

"Does that always happen?" she inquired, eyes sliding over to the still open doors. The messenger had neglected to close them. Richard just scowled.

"Only for that one," he muttered, picking up the scroll. He unfurled it, slowly reading through it. Luna watched him do so, a strange feeling arising in her chest. At the widening of his eyes, the blond snapped her book shut and placed it down, standing in her seat. "What the-"

"What is it?" the Silver Lancet asked, stepping over to his side. Richard furrowed his eyebrows before handing it to his sister. She took it, holding it out in front of her as she read.

To all resident of the Kingdom of Gunduor,

I am relieved to announce that a solution to the darkness that has plagued us has been found. Years have passed of much suffering and pain and finally, our salvation has come. However, we have a grave problem on our hands as well. The one who came to me with the power to save our world has asked for something that may be impossible.

She has asked to be escorted to the castle in the sky.

I understand that the castle has disappeared. However, she has insisted that it still exists. Only it is hidden from all human eyes. I do not know if this is true or not but I wish to believe it so. She has also asked for five brave warriors to come with her in her journey. If you would like to follow her then I ask that you come to the castle.

But be warned that this will be a long and perilous journey. I fear that none of you may come out of this alive. I await those five.

As decreed by his Royal Highness,
King Gunduor VII

"Whoa," was the first thing that left Luna's mouth as she finished, blinking rapidly. She slowly lowered the scroll, eyes locking with her brother's. They stared at each other and Richard was the first to look away. Slowly, he turned his attention back to his desk, hands folded in front of him. Luna placed the paper down, sitting on the desk. "What do you think?"

"I don't know," was all the Historian said. "I just don't know." Luna rolled her eyes and smacked her brother in the back of the head. "Ow!"

"Let's go," she said, her voice softening. Richard slumped. "Even if it might not be true, it's better than nothing, right?" The younger of the two pursed his lips, not looking at his sister. Luna glanced at him from the corner of her eyes and frowned. "I'm still going, you know."

"You can't!" he suddenly protested, jumping to his feet, a hand slamming against his desk. Papers flew but the two ignored the inanimate objects. They weren't important. "You'll get killed!"

"And waiting here isn't going to get us killed," Luna said sarcastically. She turned to face her brother, standing on her feet. "Look, this may be our only chance." Richard frowned, looking down. "You remember our promise, right?" Her brother nodded. "Then let's go." Still somewhat reluctant, the Historian nodded.

"Someone has to make sure you don't slack off," he mumbled and Luna gave him a look. He ignored it, turning away and walking around his desk toward the door, muttering under his breath the whole way. Luna watched him, an almost sad expression on her face. After a moment, she sighed and moved to follow him.

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Post by Masquerade Fri Jan 22, 2010 10:07 pm

The dim sky darkened Abel's mood as he walked the busy streets of Gunduor with a flare of impatience. It had been two weeks since he had arrived in the city and his search had come to naught. How many lands had he traversed searching for something that could be anything? A name lost in time, eh? Abel fumed as he thought. Wild goose chase is more like it. It was true. Though he had searched for years, Abel had no idea where the lost item he was searching for could be. It was only recently that Abel began to have thoughts on the castle in the sky. If this item he was searching for was so important, then why would it not be in the most important place in the world? Unfortunately, he had no idea how to get there, especially since it disappeared, and his persistent research had borne no fruit.

As Abel strolled down the street with his thoughts buzzing around his head, he didn't notice another person quickly approaching him. The two collided, but, though the other person fell to the ground, Abel merely staggered a bit before recovering his balance. Abel looked down, he noticed a rather short boy cringing on the ground, a scroll of parchment on his chest. The boy was rather cute, with shoulder-length blue hair and blue eyes to match that were cast to the side to avoid eye contact. However, Abel's attention was turned towards the parchment of which he stooped over to take. His eyes widened as he saw the castle of the sky. He finally had a chance. Well...it would take some strategy, seeing as how not even the mysterious visitor didn't even know how to get there, but she had to know something and he was determined to reach the castle and find out.

The boy that had been knocked down was still shaking, but he managed to scramble up to his feet. Quickly, he drew his knightsword with a shaky hand. "G-give that b-back, please," he said quietly with almost know authority, his voice as shaky as his hand. "I-I w-won't hesitate...," his voice trailed off. "T-to hurt y-you!" Suddenly, the boy lunged at the wanderer. "Restriction!" The boy slashed his knightsword in a zigzag pattern and watched as different seals appeared and exploded. When the smoke cleared, he noticed that he had just attacked a wall which crumbled into dust only to be carried away by the wind. Abel was standing with his arm outstretched, showing his palm to the boy. The boy took a step back.

Abel sighed. "If you wanted it back, you probably should have given me time to give it back you know," the wanderer said as he took a couple of steps closer to the boy, grabbed his arm, and put the scroll in his hand. "There you go. With that kind of skill, you must be headed to the castle, right?"

The boy was taken aback and quickly snatched his arm away from Abel's grasp. He cast his eyes downward. "Y-yes. That's where I'm g-going," the boy answered, unsure of the intentions of the other.

Abel raised an eyebrow. "Are you always like this? You don't have to be so jumpy." Abel looked up towards the castle. "What's your name, anyway? I'm Abel Candelite." He reached out his hand expecting to shake hands with the boy.

The boy cringed in response and did not reciprocate the gesture Abel was making. "M-my name is R-roger. Roger Valentine." Reluctantly, Roger put his sword away.

Abel withdrew his hand, seeing that Roger was apparently too afraid to shake it. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Roger." The atmosphere had grown slightly awkward. Abel shook it off. "Care if I accompany you to the castle? I'm very interested in this caste in the sky."

Roger was still shaking. "I-I g-guess s-so," Roger stuttered as he turned his back and quickly walked up the street.

He was quite prominent amongst the other passersby in the streets, so picking him out would be easy. Abel shrugged his shoulders and continued up the street with his leisurely pace, unaware that he was being watched.

From a nearby roof, a girl glared at him and the boy who were making their way to the castle. She jumped along the rooftops to keep up with them. I have to reach the castle of the sky. Surely the answer as to why my appearance brings disaster will be there. But I can't let anyone get in my way. Only five people. The frown upon her face deepened as she closed her honey-colored eyes. Hopefully not a lot of people will show up at the castle. With that final thought, the girl focused on secretly following the two males to the castle.

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Post by Xenosaga Fri Jan 22, 2010 10:52 pm

"The King will now speak with you."

Discretely rolling her eyes, Luna stepped through the doors, entering the audience chamber. She really saw no point in waiting for an answer from the King just to speak with him. Especially with something like this. Richard nudged her in the side as he walked beside her, giving her a small glare.

"Behave," he muttered, making sure no one else could hear what he was saying to his sister. Luna frowned but give a slight nod. Upon reaching the King, the two instantly bowed, showing their respect. The King shook his head, looking extremely haggard.

"There is no need for that. Not now," he said, voice soft and tired. Luna immediately straightened while Richard did so slowly, mentally sighing. He knew she was doing this on purpose just to bother him and he hated to admit it but it was working. The King cleared his thought, snapping Richard out of his thoughts and into attention. Luna gave her brother a look of amusement. Richard mentally sighed again.

"I assume you two are here because of the notice I have recently sent out?" When he received twin nods for an answer, His Majesty heaved a great sigh. "I. . . . had not expected a response so quickly." He brought a hand to the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes. "I honestly did not expect you two to attempt this."

"There's something we have to do," Luna stated, eyes flashing. Her face instantly went stone cold, absolutely nothing could be seen on it. The King did not see this, his eyes still closed, but her brother saw it clearly. He was standing right next to her after all. Frowning, the male looked away.

"I see," was all the King could say before he reopened his eyes, hand lowering. "Then I suppose I cannot stop you, can I?" Seeing the unwavering look on the Silver Lancet's face, His Majesty shook his head sadly. The tired look on his face made him look much older than he actually was. "Very well then. For now, you may wait here until the last three appear."

"And what if they don't come?" Richard inquired, finally speaking. The King shook his head.

"Then I cannot allow you to go on this journey. She specifically asked for five others."

At this, Luna exchanged a look with Richard.

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Post by Masquerade Fri Jan 22, 2010 11:39 pm

Roger timidly cast sidelong glances at every stranger he passed by, and the streets were full of them. He kept his hand on the hilt of his weapon at all times, never knowing when someone might reach out and grab him. Hopefully, it wouldn't be another person like Abel who could easily block it. Roger's eyebrows perked slightly. What power did that Abel fellow possess anyway? His thoughts roamed concerning what kinds of moves Abel used in battle and what he would even need them for in the first place. Those thoughts kept him distracted until he noticed that he was about to run right into the castle doors. He backed off as he noticed a knight on either side of the door.

The knights looked over at Roger. One spoke up. "Do you have business with the king?"

The other glanced at his partner. "Don't forget about that message the king sent around. We were supposed to be expecting some people."

"But he's just boy," the other replied.

Roger fell to his knees, his body shaking violently as he buried his face in his hands. "I-I have t-to get into the c-castle," Roger said, his voice barely audible.

The first knight raised an eyebrow. "Well, you'll have to stand up if you want in the castle, boy." The knight walked in front of the doors and opened them. "There you go, but you can't just sit there like that. Get some iniative." He walked over to Roger which turned out to be a big mistake.

With insane speed, Roger drew his knightsword. "S-stay back! I-I don't w-want a s-stranger to t-touch me!" Roger swung his sword, but it never connected. A chain shot out of nowhere and wrapped around Roger's weapon, keeping it from completing the swing. Roger looked back to see Abel standing nearby.

"Are you crazy or something?!" Abel reprimanded as he yanked on the chain causing the knightsword to fly out of Roger's hands and land on the ground. Roger also fell to the ground. Abel reeled in the chain along with the sword as he approached the two knights who were more taken aback than angry. Abel bowed. "I sincerely apologize for the mite's behavior, valiant knights. I beg your mercy along with entrance into the castle. He is under my control now, and you have my honest word that I shall not allow him to act as such again." Abel remained in his bowed position, internally cursing Roger for his fearfulness.

The first knight stepped back into his position by the open doorway into the castle. "I guess you can enter, but keep that boy at your side at all times. He should learn when to stay his sword when necessary." The other knight exchanged a worried glance with the first knight, but they both ended up shrugging their soldiers and pointed the way into the castle.

Abel straightened up, only to end up bowing again. "I appreciate your understanding." He glared at Roger. "Stand up, you."

Roger looked up at him, his eyes distraught with fear, his body still shaking. He managed to scramble up onto his feet. Without waiting to retrieve his sword from Abel, he briskly walked through the open doors and into the castle.

Abel sighed and hid his chain in his sleeve while he carried Roger's knightsword. What is wrong with that kid? With that thought, he followed Roger into the castle with the knights closing the doors behind him.

The audience chamber door was closed and two more knights were guarding it. However, before Roger could get close enough to them, Abel broke off into a run up across the entrance room of the castle and passed the timid boy so that he could encounter the knights first. Abel stopped and bowed before them. "My name is Abel Candelite and my companion is Roger Valentine. We have come about the endeavor to reach the castle in the sky." The knights nodded and opened the doors for him. Without hesitation, Abel entered the room boldly with Roger in tow.

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Post by Xenosaga Fri Jan 22, 2010 11:49 pm

Hearing the doors open behind from behind them, both Luna and Richard turned to face the newcomers. The ones who entered were two young boys. Luna raised an eyebrow. She was positive they were younger than her brother was. Not to mention the shortest one looked like he would go hysterical at the slightest sign of danger.

Richard suddenly jammed his elbow into his sister's side, knowing exactly where to hit to deal damage to her and not himself. Luna let out a sudden hiss at the unexpected attack but quickly hid it, forcing herself silent. She sent her sibling a look of disapproval. Richard returned the look with one of his own. Except his was much more severe. Luna pursed her lips, looking away.

"Welcome," the King greeted, not looking surprised. "I assume you are here due to the notice?" Luna raised an eyebrow at the smallest boy. Richard elbowed her again.

"Stop being rude," he hissed.

"Alright, alright," she muttered. She rolled her eyes, silently wondering what she had done to deserve such an abusive brother.

"If I weren't here, you would have been kicked out already," the Historian murmured, as if reading her thoughts. Luna frowned at her brother. Richard just mentally sighed.

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Abel remained calm; he didn't expect that such authority could culminate and manifest in one person. Regardless, he walked up to the king and bowed respectfully. "Yes, Your Majesty. My name is Abel Candelite and I have come according to the notice." He wondered what Roger was up to, but he couldn't turn his head for fear of disrespecting the king.

At the entrance of the audience chamber, Roger came in slowly, his eyes shifting around with suspicion at everything. He shuffled slowly into the room. Each second seemed like an eternity to him and he marveled at the sight of the king upon his throne, though he still felt afraid, especially of the two people near the king. And he didn't have his sword; Abel was still holding it. Lost in his thoughts and analyses, he didn't even notice when he finally made it next to Abel. He, too, decided to bow and introduce himself. "M-my n-name is R-roger V-valentine, Y-your M-majesty," he said shakily, his heart pounding.

The king sighed. "Please. Rise." He took a deep breath as Abel and Roger rose.

Abel closed his eyes and finally handed Roger back his knightsword. After a threatening glance, the boy cringed slightly and sheathed it. "So, Your Majesty, what is all of this all of a sudden about this castle in the sky?" He glanced over at the other two, a woman and a younger boy, but he could only be younger by a few years or less. "I am guessing they are two of the five that are going to take on this task, correct?"

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Post by Xenosaga Sat Jan 23, 2010 12:14 am

"Pretty much," Luna answered before Richard could, placing a hand to her hip. "Name's Luna Carren. This here's my little brother, Richard." Richard groaned, smacking his face with his hand. "Don't mind him. He gets annoyed easily."

"Sis, please. At least try to be polite?" the Historian requested, rubbing his temples. He turned to the two boys, bowing slightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you both." Luna twitched.

"Now that was creepy," she commented, wrinkling her nose. Richard straightened, rolling his eyes skyward as if giving a silent prayer.

"You do realize we're still in the presence of His Majesty, right?" he reminded. Luna blinked and turned around to look at the King. She stared at the man for a moment before looking back at her brother.

"Strange. I forgot he was there," she admitted, letting the hand on her hip drop to her side. Richard took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. The King just shook his head at his knight's antics. Though she was usually serious, when her brother was in the same room as her, Luna changed. "Sorry sir."

"It is fine," the King said, waving a hand. He then turned his attention to the two boys. "You wish to know more about the castle in the sky?" At this, he shook his head. "Sadly, I do not know much myself. The one who does know refuses to appear until a total of five agree to join the journey."

"Whoever this person is is quite fickle," Luna commented with a frown. Though Richard was reluctant to do so, he had to agree.

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Abel scratched his head briefly before deciding that the two others who were going on the quest must have known each other for a long time. "It's a pleasure to meet the both of you as well. I only wish that our fifth person would go on and show herself. It's not like I don't know you're there," Abel said suddenly, his eyes focused on the king, but he was clearly addressing someone else.

There came a slight sound of tapping from the ceiling. From up above, a girl with white hair and strange, bluish garments descended quickly and landed gracefully on the floor. As she rose, she opened her eyes, both the color of honey. Her frigid glance quickly turned to Abel. "How did you know I was hiding?" she questioned tersely, her voice obviously filled with white hot scorn.

Abel shrugged. "It was just a hunch. I felt like somebody was watching me so I utilized a secret and rather versatile technique of mine that revealed your location, though it did take a while. From there, I just guessed that you followed us into the castle, but I didn't know where you could have been hiding. That's why I didn't specify your location when I called you out." He sighed. "Regardless, you know you didn't have to hide, right?"

The girl fumed. "Don't have to hide, right?" she mocked him. "Of course I do, but that is no concern of yours." She marched forth and pushed Abel out of the way who offered little resistance to the gesture. As she approached the king, she bowed. "My name is Rin Kaminaga and I shall be the fifth and final person to journey to the castle in the sky." Her voice was so certain, like she believed that anything she said was fact. Some would call that arrogance, but Rin was much to naive to realize it.

Meanwhile, Roger had leapt back several feet. If people were going to start falling from the ceiling, Roger would have no part in it. It would practically be the same as if it started raining chainsaws in the castle. That's how much he didn't like people. His hand instinctively reached for the handle of his knightsword. Luckily, Abel was too busy to notice. Roger rose to his feet, his knees knocking together in fright. He let loose a small cry before charging the girl.

Rin didn't even turn around. The knightsword plunged through her chest, and her mouth opened wide, her eyes full of surprise. However, no blood had been spilt and the crimson liquid didn't even start to flow from the wound. Rin's body burst into a cloud of smoke causing Roger to recoil, only to have Rin reappear and deliver a sweep kick which knocked Roger to the ground. When the smoke cleared, Rin was standing over the boy with two ninja swords pointed at his neck. "Think twice before you do something stupid, boy," she reprimanded him before placing her swords into their rightful spots on her belt. She walked back up to the king. "I am sorry for that, Your Majesty, but there is clearly something wrong with that kid." She gave him one more death glare before returning her complete attention to the king.

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Seeing the sudden display, Luna raised an eyebrow. She hadn't been surprised by the sudden appearance by the girl, seeing as she had been trained to expect things like this. Not to mention she had had the same feeling as Abel since the two boys had entered the audience chamber, Richard had blinked rapidly before sighing, head down and eyes closed as a hand came up to massage his temples.

"I think we're surrounded by crazy people," the blonde stated, a hand placed on her hip as she watched the three before her. Richard just heaved another sigh. The King gave a chuckle of amusement.

"It is quite alright." he said, nodding his head slightly. "Our army is quite strange as well." Luna's eyes instantly narrowed as she thought of the Witch holed up in the underground lab and her familiar who just couldn't seem to keep his paws off her brother. Not to mention the crazy stalker girl, the girl that thought of everything as a game, the dead guy pining after a living one, said living refusing to acknowledge the dead man's feelings.

Yeah. They had all kinds.

"Let's just focus on the task at hand," Richard said, drawing attention to himself. Pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose, causing the glass to flash in the light, he continued. "Now that we have all five, this means we'll be allowed to move on, correct?" The King nodded his head.

"That is correct."

". . . . . Then what now?" Luna frowned, looking around. Somehow, she was getting this eerie feeling. Her eyes locked onto the shadows the lights created, narrowing. Was it just her or did they seem darker?

"Now. We wait," the old man stated, leaning back in his throne. He too was eying the shadows, as if expecting something to come out of them.

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Abel sighed as he watched the event fold out before him. He reprimanded himself for not keeping a closer eye on the kid, but it was too late for regret. Maybe after enough beatings, Roger would finally learn his lesson. "So, what exactly are we waiting on now?" Abel asked nonchalantly. The morning hadn't even passed yet, and here he was...tired. He couldn't believe it. I'm not even that old yet. I feel like my life is draining away or something. He sighed.

Roger had fallen to the floor and instantly scrambled away. He sat resting against one of the walls of the room. His eyes shifted from one person in the room to another and then another. At some point, he had sheathed his sword. It wouldn't be a good idea to attack someone again. They had to.....why? I....anything.....couldn't have.... He continued to think in broken fragments.

Rin just rose to her standing position. "The only crazy one in this room is that kid," she stated coldly and pointed menacingly at Roger. "If we have to wait, I'd rather do it only as long as I don't have to do it for long." She shot a glance at the man in the pale yellow robes as he blinked his eyes sleepily. The other two in the room seemed pretty straight to the point; it was kind of how she was. She was never one for waiting and only a couple minutes passed before her foot began to tap slightly in impatience. All five of us are here. I don't see the point in this..., she thought, a grimace upon her face.

Castle in the Sky Empty Re: Castle in the Sky

Luna shifted, her stance changing. There was something in the room with them and it was something she didn't like. It was dark. The feeling that it gave her made her want to lash out, something almost like fear welling up in her. Richard didn't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary. Then again, Luna was the battle hardened one between the two.

"What's wrong?" her brother inquired upon noticing her uneasiness. Luna ignored him, however, eyes slowly roaming over the room. She suddenly drew her spear, flinging it like a javelin into the shadows. It pierced one area, the blade digging into the ground.

A shriek, an inhuman shriek, pierced the air and Richard flinched, startled. The shadows shifted and swirled, jerking around the spear. They froze and suddenly rushed out into the open, stopping in a dark circle in an empty spot in the ground. It swelled up, rising and whirling before bursting, leaving only a small cloaked being behind.

"Who are you?" Luna instantly demanded, shifting her body so it stood in front of her brother in a protective stance. "State your business." The cloaked being said nothing, however. It just jerked its head from side to side, looking at the people who had gathered.

"Stand down, Luna," the King ordered sternly, leaning forward in his seat.

"But sir-" the knight immediately tried to protest but stopped at the look on the King's face. Clicking her mouth shut, she watched the being with cold eyes. There was no way this thing could be human. Luna could literally see the wisps of darkness that curled at the hem of its robes. She had never seen such a creature like this before.

"So, you were here all along," the King said, clasping his hands. "What do you think?" The being didn't answer, opting to stare at five that had gathered. After a moment, it turned its head back toward the King.

"They should do fine," it spoke, voice soft and light with a feminine tone in it. Luna jerked. She hadn't expected it to speak, let alone have such a pretty voice. And yet, the voice was toneless, making it just plain creepy. "My name is Sin Harvest. I am pleased to make your acquaintances." The being paused, looking around once more before speaking again. "Luna, Richard, Abel, Roger and Rin, correct?" It seemed to nod its head, not even waiting for an answer. "I would like you all to accompany me. Will you?"

Luna froze as Richard gripped a hand onto her arm. To travel with something they had no knowledge of sent warning signs through their minds. Luna gritted her teeth. She didn't like this one bit. But if this was their only chance, then they would take it.

"We'll come," Richard answered instead, voice calm and even. He had seen his sister's resolve. He found out he couldn't bring himself to back out neither.
