The Bookbinder Empty The Bookbinder

Post by Silver Sun May 30, 2010 10:13 am

This is a Roleplay between Xeno and I

Things are quiet in the small town just south of Frae. Since it was created in 1782, things have always been: Do your job and when you finish you can do whatever. But this system has brought about a daily lag, each day seemingly dragging on, night being the shortest escape. But now suddenly, something has broken the system. A small Library on the edge of town, with the mysterious name of: Laken Bookbinder. Strangely enough, no one has ever gone in, but today, someone will break the cycle. And who else but Laken Reid and Xu Shin to do so?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laken walked down the same coblestone road, the road he used to walk everywhere and anywhere. He looked back, smiling at his best friend. Xu Shin, the only girl in town who was like him, full of imagination. As they passed by the old brick and wood buildings, Laken whistled peacefully, wondering about Laken Bookbinder.

It was quite strange, having a Library with the same name. And he wondered even further why no one ever went in. At least until today. He and Xu Shin were going to change that. Slightly losing the smile he usually always had he looked up at the Library. They were here. And it was time to go in. To see it for the first time, and figure out the mystery behind it.

"Ready to go?"

Options:
- Go into the Library.
- Hold on a Sec.

(Note: Hold on a Sec. Will Trigger Regular Roleplay for the first part of the story, while Go into the Library will have us jump right into the Stats. There are Pro's and Con's to each, so decide carefully.)

The Bookbinder Empty Re: The Bookbinder

"Hm?" Blinking almost tiredly, Xu Shin turned her one visible eye on Laken. She stared at him blankly for a moment, mind slowly coming out of its usual haze to register what he had just said. It took her a few seconds but soon enough, she blinked again and looked up at the library. She then looked back at Laken and tilted her head.

"Is the library open. . . . .?" she inquired, the words said slowly and clearly. It was as if she couldn't really speak well or was just plain slow. Probably the latter. "Should we bring something just in case. . . . .? Have we brought anything. . . .?"

Laken looked over his friend for a second and then looked back at the library. A Big sign in the Glass Door read: "Open". Laken looked back at Xu Shin, wondering if she had even thought to check herself. But he knew it wasn't her fault, she was probably stuck in a day dream. Taking a refreshing breath he moved aside.

"It's open..."

Xu Shin stared Laken, head still tilted. Slowly, she turned her gaze to the front of the library, eye taking in the details. After a long minute. she looked back at her friend and nodded.

"It's open," she repeated, as if confirming the previous statement. Xu Shin once more turned to the library, stared, and looked back at Laken. Slowly, she raised a hand, a single finger pointing. "Should we go in now. . . .?"

"I guess..."

Laken was still trying to get a straight answer from his friend. But he couldn't find one among her carefully chosen words. Looking at the library he reached for the handle. He began to open the door and then stopped and looked back at his friend one final time.

"Ready?"

Xu Shin blinked and straightened her head. She then tilted it to the other side, staring at her friend. There was a haze in her eyes but it seemed to thin, not as cloudy as before. Slowly, the girl walked up to the entrance, taking nearly a minute just to get up the few steps there.

She seemed to wait but upon realizing Laken was still waiting for her answer, Xu Shin blinked. After a moment, she nodded.

"Go ahead. . . . " she urged, or seemed to. It sounded like she was trying but the effort didn't show in her voice.

Laken nodded, a smile slowly returning to his face. He opened the door the rest of the way and ushered Xu Shin in. Together they walked down the long narrow hall way that didn't seem possible from the outside. And then they both came upon an old wooden door with no handle.

"Strange... I don't see how we can go any further..."

"Change the story."

The voice echoed down the hallway. Laken looked around, trying to sense where the voice was coming from. But he could not, and so he began to turn around before the voice boomed.

"Change the Story!"

Laken turned back around and looked at Xu Shin.

"Change the story?"

This time no voice came, but when Laken looked back at the door, there was the handle right there. He looked at it as if he didn't believe it was real. But it was through and through, and so the duo entered the inner Library.

This time there was a voice, a small mumble from an old man sitting at a Desk many feet away from them. As he heard the door shut he looked up and smiled.

"Ahh... Laken... Xu Shin... Welcome... Please... sit down... sit down, I have many books for you to choose from."

Before either of them could blink, they were at a table, sitting down with three books in front of them.

"Choose... Choose... Carefully..."

Not appearing to mind the strangeness at all, Xu Shin stared at the books that had been placed before her. She did not seem to hear the stranger, nor did she seem to find the situation dangerous. Taking a good look at each book for about a minute each, she placed her hand on the first one.

Xu Shin kept her hand there for a long moment. She then lifted that hand and placed it on the second one. She did the same for the third before removing her hand altogether and placing it on her lap. Xu Shin closed her eyes, head tilted slightly, and almost seemed to have fallen asleep.

Moments passed before she opened her visible eye, the haze nearly overcoming even the darkness of her pupil. The girl turned her eye toward their surroundings, as if trying to find soemthing of more interest. Nothing did, or so it seemed.

Finally, she raised her hand again and placed it on the first book, eye still roaming over their surroundings. Her hand almost automatically flipped it open, the girl still not looking at it.

"Interesting choice... Have fun..."

Laken turned to the old man, trying to ask him what was going on, but he couldn't speak. Something felt wrong. He felt like he was drifting away, the man chuckling slightly. Laken turned his head towards Xu Shin, noticing her head had hit the book. He blinked once... twice... and he blacked out.

When he opened his eyes once more, he was on the ground. Rough stone. He looked around, rubbing his eyes quickly. Broken columns, moss covering parts of stone, it was ruins.

"The Antigo Ruins... Antechamber"

Laken looked over at Xu Shin. She was still knocked out. This was all so strange.

As if hit with a bolt of lightning, Xu Shin's visible eye snapped open, its pupil seeming to slit for a moment before returning to its usual round shape. She blinked, staring up at the unfamiliar ceiling. Slowly, she sat up, eye not wavering. The daydreamer blinked again and looked around. Eye lighting upon her friend, Laken, she blinked once more.

"Good morning. . . ." she greeted with a slight bow of her head, as if she had been sleeping this entire time and believed it to be morning.
