Post by Masquerade Mon Nov 02, 2009 6:33 pm

Here's a place to post your very own poetry or maybe one of your favorite poems~!

How I Wish to Fly

I gaze up at the dark, abysmal sky
with the ethereal moon aglowing.
How I long, I yearn, I wish to fly
with the clusters of stars that are showing.

How I wish to commute with the fluffiest clouds
so delicate to the touch.
I wish not to land amongst the earthen crowds,
for I would pine the cirrus too much.

Why were birds gifted with wings
when they do not deign to use them?
Through the air they soar, what freedom clings,
while to the ground I am condemned.

I blink my eyes, snap out of my daze
with my thoughts buzzing 'round my head.
I know one day my spirit will reach the Sun's rays,
and float through the skies when I'm dead.

"Lost in Life"

The ripple of water,
The shattering of skies.
Coming from the depths,
Breaking through the clouds.

Living through fire,
Hell is your birthplace.
Living in tranquility,
Heaven your sanctuary.

A woman stands alone,
A man stands behind her.
The greatest thing about life,
Is love.

Don't tell me that it's gonna be me and Zeri only who dominate this thread....

The Twilight is the Best of Times

Crystal shines
when daylight breaks
as rays of Sun
burst through the clouds
'Tis the light my crystal takes.

When night befalls my little town,
and the moon peers through the black,
and sends envoys of ghostly light
to shatter the stars at the speed of sound,
and take my crystal's shine back.

When twilight dawns on my little town,
surrounding buildings with orange and gold-
Both colors side by side,
and my crystal has the faintest glow,
a peaceful glow that puts my heart to rest.
It's only because that time of day
is when the Sun and the Moon coincide.

Oh how I wish my town to be twilight
with everyone gathered 'round,
on our way to Tranquility,
the people of the Sun and the people of the Moon
dancing across the ground-
Together.

But what's most important to me is my crystal,
and the twilight makes it the most glad,
and there is something about my crystal-
It's feelings are pervasive and spread
to those with pure mind and cleansed heart,
like me,
and I want them to feel joy, not dread.

"Of The Everlasting Shame"

The wind calls,
Of the everlasting shame.
Empty your mind,
Of the everlasting shame.

Tonight we will forget,
All of your transgressions.
No matter what happens,
We will rewrite this story.

The wind calls,
Of the everlasting shame.
Empty your mind,
Of the everlasting shame.

A knock on the door,
No one answers it.
A knock on the door,
Ignored by all who hear.

The wind calls,
Of the everlasting shame.
Empty your mind,
Of the everlasting shame.

The angel becomes evil,
Death knocks a last time.
The door is opened,
By no other but you.

The wind calls,
Of the everlasting shame.
Empty your mind,
Of the everlasting shame.

The kidnapping is swift,
The devil steals your soul.
Unwilling and struggling,
Piece by peace he steals it.

The wind calls,
Of the everlasting shame.
Empty your mind,
Of the everlasting shame.

Trapped in his lair,
Confused and afraid.
Screams for help,
Remain unanswered.

The wind calls,
Of the everlasting shame.
Empty your mind,
Of the everlasting shame.

To this day,
No one is afraid.
To this day,
The devil steals again.

The wind calls,
Of the everlasting shame.
Empty your mind,
Of the everlasting shame.

The wind calls,
Of the everlasting shame.
Empty your mind,
Of the everlasting shame.
Of the everlasting, everlasting shame...

The Persistence of Emotion

Though the Sun beats down with its fiercest rays
and the Night obscures the skies--
With darkest shadows.
And though the stormclouds lock away peaceful days
in a Bastille only fit for the unwise--
Optimism will carry us through it.

When the sands of Time ravage the land
and the arid winds dry up the earth--
With the mightiest gusts.
When deities of light do not lend a helping hand
and plants wither, die, and do not see a rebirth--
Understanding will carry us through it.

Despite the shadow of Death taking a loved one
and the flames of Anger leading people into the abyss--
All of it stemming from dark hearts.
Despite all of this, we have won
and the emotion of Man now persists--
Love will carry us through...
To Victory.

Ode to a Sock

Such purity befitting,
The awesome product of footwear.
It comes in all colors,
No one could match a sock's glory.

This is one of my favorites that I have created. ^ ^

Fall from Grace

Sun dawns on a perfect world--
a world of pearls and jade and gold--
where warmth and comfort are everywhere
and joy and wonder surge through the air,
and the day never grows old.

What light through yonder window breaks
upon the cold, bleak world below?
It displays the truths of darkest deeds
emboldened by the hatred that all life breeds--
what do we have to show?

And one may argue yet
that there are those who do great things in this world--
some of our ancestors were angels, after all,
and we only answer to the most divine call.
The evil that has showed itself is the evil we have unfurled.

Blasphemy!
What reign of initiative did you take?
Lucifer's sweet words lured you to clasp
the evil ideals that are now in Hell's fiery grasp.
Fallen angels come awake!
And realize now your horrid mistake.

But though the truth does the world wrong,
it is our job, our duty, it is our place,
in this world to spread the light,
shatter shadows and banish night--
it is the least we can do; it is what is right--
as those who have fallen from grace.

Post by Cerani Mon Nov 02, 2009 7:44 pm

I had to break this chain. Masq, you might recognize this . . . Perhaps the most random thing that has ever come from my mind.

A Blue Lava Lamp

There was an old ostrich who lived in a zoo
Kept her marbles blue
And so in the cage too.

Then came the lamp from far above
Filled with blue lava, lava of love.
The bird talked things she knew of.

Bloop, bloop goes the lamp
And then came a loud BAM!
The concrete was damp.

The lamp was not filled with lava at all.
The ostrich cried her death call,
Then lay limp as a doll.

And so filled the pocket lines
Feathers of the ostrich so fine
Of people of some kind.

When the great bird awoke
To some passersby poke,
She found in the love an ostrich bloke.

She could not believe her eyes
And felt she could fly
When he never said goodbye.

Maybe one day, when you’re all down and
Blue,
The blue lava lamp will come and crack for
You.
And then you’ll find you weren’t filled with
Blue.
It was simply love
Construed.

I'm going to expand on my signature a little. ^^

"Forever Lost..."

Forever Lost in the world,
Never Found in spite of our cries.
Not Accepted by anyone else.

Running from Hell with nowhere else to go.
Shying from Society because we were
Shunned.

A glittering dream, it's almost fake,
Our nightmares fade to show
We are Surrounded by Love.

That was awesome, CC~! And that was from our Piecewise Function project, no less. Who thought such a cool poem could come forth into existence through the aid of a math class?

And, Zeri, your poem sent a shiver down my spine. Your words are sooo effective, it's unreal~ =3

Dread the Wind's Touch

So cool and peaceful yet,
the colors fade away.
Superb view of the sky and the earth,
but something's strange today.
A change has arrived
that I can see--
my body's turned from green to brown,
and it's beginning to worry me.
The clouds begin to swarm,
and the callous wind picks up speed.
The weather's turning for the worse--
Protection is what I need.
So loosely here I hang,
my life, I feel, is coming to an end.
However, what a gentle death awaits me;
my broken heart will mend.
But why give up hope,
as long as I still live?
No matter how long the wind shall blow,
my persistence will not give.
And yet what life is this?
When I have to live in fear,
and fright,
and terror,
it's just too much!
When I have to live with the dread,
of the monstrous wind's cold touch.

Hey thanks, Masq. Hehe, I thought it sounded like one of those poems you had to be high to understand, which is what I was going for! But I really liked the first one you posted. I've actually looked at a bird and thought something like that, just not in so many words.

Truth Behind The Veil

I pass overhead
Just behind a cloak of lies
Looking down on them.

I am protected
From the tendrils of the truth
In my cloak of lies.

Away in safety
I do not have to progress
To unknown regions.

There in the darkness
Of the possibilities
I cower in fear.

Unprotected soul
Is at risk of certain loss
No cloak can hide it.

Though body remains safe
Right behind the cloak of lies
Truth shall pierce the soul.

Puppetmaster

Watch the strings dancing
through the air, distraught by a
great refreshing breeze.

Dance to my whims, oh
foolish ones who dance a dance
of certain demise.

They can never see
the one pulling the strings that
controls their movements.

Foolish ones rise up
and sever the bonds that hold
thee bound to the earth.

Puppetmaster left
alone to grieve and despair:
"God, what have I done?"

Solidarity.
One who controlled others can
not survive alone.

One puppet remains.
But not a puppet any
longer--just a friend.

The puppetmaster
has no more puppets for he
has severed the strings

that kept the souls from
ascending to the place where
they truly belong:

Heaven is in reach.
At last. Paradise has come.
The strings welcome peace.

Loveless

What joy is there in a life lived alone
Without love, without care, without feelings to bear
What point is there to simple existence?
To eat and breathe, to grow and die
What more is there I ask you again
For what reason must I live till the end?

A simple wish I have, a goal to attain
To leave my space and interact with another,
To shed my loneliness and care for some other
To break free from my prison, to find my desired
Rather than brushing other lives with no lasting reaction

Too much to ask, for a purpose in life?
Too lofty a goal for me to aspire?
Not worth your time to spare me concern,
Then leave me be to sit in my corner
Alone and unloved, with no hope in my future.

This is kind of awkward following "Loveless" but... my best work, according to my 8th Grade Teacher.

Love:

Oh graceful dove
small symbol of love.

Fly through the air
as my fingers run through her hair.
Yes, we are the perfect pair.

The dove away to another couple flies
love still remains in our hearts.
She kisses me, to my surprise
and when we stop the moment parts.

This one was actually put up in our school's library, so I'm proud of it.

Gladiator

Dust flying, swords flashing, blood flying
Cheering crowds spurring on the carnage
Sweat stained skin, clashing and crashing
Blood flowing from ever increasing wounds
Till one man falls, his enemy looms above
The hand is raised and the vote is cast
The hand descends, and a life is lost

Fear

You run for your life
When the moment draws near
The terror and horror of that thing you fear
It near and closens and draws by your side
You panic all frantic and mind you can’t find
But never this thought penetrates your pride
That what is fear, but a state of mind?

3:oo In The Morning

The heart flutters with every single discretion,
it's almost impossible to avoid depression.
I see the shadows shifting in fiendish delight,
the sound of teardrops falling on the darkest of nights.
Watch out for the shattered glass on the floor,
for 10 stories below, my body is no more.
Here my spirit transcends, ashes to ashes,
I remember my heart stopping with every bat of your lashes.
Here my tattered body is beyond vital mending,
I couldn't have thought of a more unjust ending.

My World to Rule

Task, after trivial task,
I've done everything you asked.
The walls are smeared with the blood of your family,
and the windows are shattered the way you had told me.
The floors are dirty with the grime of nature.
The heads on the wall show great nomenclature.
My fists are bleeding from making holes in the walls,
and debris now fills these once valiant halls.
There's nothing left to do in this place,
give it all up because that's just the case.

The gardens are ruined where your children once twirled.
Now, tell me how to rule the fucking world.

Your castle is nothing now,
nothing to be proud of.
None of this would've happened
if you ruled as you should have.
Down on the floor
you're the one in a bind.
I'll leak those dark secrets,
crack open your mind.
I'll watch as what I want drizzles over the floor,
and I'll grasp aimlessly and then hunger for more.

The smile.
The one on your face.
Dead.
In this horrid, wrecked place.

You left me.
I did it all for the secrets.
To rule.
LEFT BEHIND WITH NO INFORMATION!?
...how cruel.

Even now after years,
in the corner all curled
into a ball just because
I wanted to rule the world.

What Does the End Solve?

Dead tired.
Dead on the inside.
Looking back I can't believe
just how truly hard I tried.
I know defeat just like any other,
forced to look into my past,
and blindly search for memories,
most of which I cast aside.
Moment's tension brings me closer,
to the edge of which I cannot see
and I know I just cannot get over
this pervasive insanity.

All my troubles could just serve to cease,
but what would my spilt blood solve?
Just passing on my problem still
to others who need not be involved.
And thus I stand upon wit's end,
determined now to a further extent
to strive and survive to the end of days
just like I know how it was meant.

Orchestra of Death

Every stroke of every key
creates a brilliant rhapsody
that sets the shadows into motion
darkness flows just like the ocean.
That pulling of the string
makes me just want to sing
about the thoughts as I had left them
a perfect ideal requiem.
And every note that takes to defyin'
gravity just to get flyin'.
They all steal the spotlight
from my corpse lost in the dark night.
The curtains drop on me,
just like a guillotine.
The sound of faint applause
is what gives me further cause...

I look out at the crowd with my bleeding eyes,
those crimson tears keeping flowing 'til I realize...

Death, has pulled his string,
and he has captured me.
Stuck in a cage of swirling notes
Just...like the ones I wrote...
But I'm in control no more,
with no idea what he's got in store.
I just keep my spirit low,
and hope he keeps up the show.
As long as he plays that music,
I get to listen to it,
and escape certain disaster,
thanks to the shadows' Master.

Lost Outlook

All is as it seems
before I dash your hopes and dreams,
and take pleasure in the clatter
that is your heart starting to shatter.
Any bright thoughts of the future,
any optimistic perception
is overridden by cynicism--
a delusional deception.

The sun is cast away,
behind a veil of gray,
and no drop of happiness
can be found in this emptiness.
Let's see the tears, let's hear the screams;
it's all beyond your wildest dreams,
a nightmare befitting of one who thought
that through life's troubles, relief would be brought.

But it's true in most cases,
there is always reprieve
for those with bright smiles--
for those who believe.
I'm the one wrapped in chains,
trapped by what's seen and what's real,
and I've lost the true meaning
of looking ahead with such zeal
in order to know that the days ahead
would do nothing more than leave joy in their stead.

Phantom

I see your face with every flash of lightning
that dances through the sky.
And when it disappears from view,
I think: how could you pass me by?
The rain that falls so coldly
simply cannot mask the tears.
You've only been gone a second,
but to me it feels like years.
On this the loneliest of nights,
where is your touch to comfort my heart?
Always there, you promised to be,
so what has torn us apart?
I already know the answer;
I have not been forsaken.
I walk away from the lonely grave
of the lover that death has taken.

Home of the Lost

Scarlet tears as thick as blood
drizzle down upon the rosewood.
Little dreamer in the rain,
staring through the windowpane,
yearning for that blazing fire
away from the ice, one's true desire;
shrouded soul in which sadness settled
and condensed into the bluest sapphire--
he seeks to be released from binds
of the hopelessness that wracks all minds.
Sweet essence of the grand magnolia
lift his spirits from the depths of Hell
and spin him 'round so cheerily
upon life's broken carousel.
Though akin to a Grecian tragedy,
this is his reality.
His tale is whispered among the leaves,
his presence unknown, so who believes?
Follow the trail of pomegranate seeds
to find the source of darkest deeds
but until those shadows light does accost
there's simply no home for the lost.

This is Halloween

In the shadowy night air,
Creatures prowl and glare.
Witches and Dragons and Mummies,
Ghosts and Hounds and Zombies.

Houses rumored to be haunted,
Daredevils adventuring undaunted.
The moon glaring red,
As the night becomes dead.

Boiling lava seeping through cracks,
Findings of giant ogre tracks.
Muffled screams of pain,
The walls splattered with red stain.

Where Ghouls and Goblins run amok,
As humans cower in the muck.
