A Mia reaction will come as soon as I'm done trying to figure out how to turn benzene into p-chlorobenzophenone. Well, I actually already figured it out, just hard to get it all straight. It was funny, I was sitting here freaking out trying to figure it out, and then I was like: "OH, it's easy. Just react benzene with Cl2/AlCl3 for simple chlorination then react that product with C6H6COCl/AlCl3 for an easy Friedel-Crafts acylation which will produce the para- isomer I want."

Honestly, I was going to acylate first before typing this post, and then I realized that I wouldn't get my para- isomer that way, so I'm glad I figured that out before I got it wrong. e.e

Oh, it's not too bad when you learn the mechanism (which is really simple for electrophilic aromatic substitution.) The memorizing which reagents to use for which reaction can be a bit daunting. I'm still not done figuring out all my acylation reactants which made me freak out on that problem I mentioned. I was like: "Oh, it should be okay to stick a benzaldehyde-like molecule onto benzene through acylation; I just have to remove the hydrogen atom off of the aldehyde group and replace it with chlorine so it'll react with the aluminum chloride I stick in there with it. =3="

On a lighter note, I'm done with this homework. Post ahoy~

Yeah. I don't have to deal with mumbo jumbo science stuff. Criminal justice is mostly common sense and tolerance.
