Also, after much debate with myself (no, not master debate), I've decided we'll go to Ender's Outpost instead of Scorpion Checkpoint, mainly because the mission involving Arklif, the military base/town beyond the Checkpoint is something I'd like to save for much later.

@Masq: How exactly do we train the civilians? Do we just bring them on a mission or is there something specific we have to do?

Ah, I knew I was forgetting something. You can have more experienced recruits with specified jobs to teach Civilians how to use weapons. In order to do this, they have to be in the party at the same time and do battle (this is after you've asked the more experienced member to train the Civilian.) After a few battles, the Civilian should pick up the weaponry and change professions into something more practical.
