Tales of Alidaire: Heart of the World

On a stormy night in Elendia....
The lightning flashed viciously outside in the sky as dark clouds swarmed and shrouded the shining moon. Trinity sat looking out at this disaster from the window in her room. Her house was located on the outskirts of Altinor, the capital of Elendia located fairly close to the sea. With a frown on her face, Trinity took out her sketchbook and began to draw by candlelight. Only a few lines made it upon the paper before Trinity heard a voice inside her mind.
The time has come.
She dropped her sketchbook in fright. What could that voice have been? She looked around her room. It was deep into the night, so she knew that her parents and her sister, Anastasia, would definitely be asleep by now. She was about to pick up her sketchbook when she heard it again.
The time has come. Destiny lights your path, but only you can choose: Will you go with light, or descend into darkness? The power is in your hands.
Trinity was sent hurtling across her room as a bolt of lightning struck her window, shattering it instantly. Falling slowly from the sky outside, she saw a strange glass sphere with a beautiful aqua hue. It called to her. She could feel the warmth of the jewel reaching out to her and her alone. She managed to get up and stumble over to her windowsill only to see the sphere getting closer to the ground.
Only those with courage can transcend the light.
Taking a deep breath, Trinity jumped out of her window and into the storm of the night. As she fell, she reached out desperately for the sphere, and when she caught hold of it, she clasped on tightly making sure to never let it go. Her body hit the ground with a thump. When she awoke, the jewel was still in her hand, but in the other hand was what looked like and oversized key. She questioned in her mind what it could possibly be, but she had no chance to ponder such things as she was quickly surrounded by strange creatures whose bodies seemed to be composed of darkness. A new voice then permeated the air.
"Run, for they will not cease until they have your heart."
Trinity would not back down though. She held the key out in front of her and prepared for battle. Valiantly she fought to hold the monsters back, there were too many. She had to run. If they were truly after her, then the longer she stayed in town, the higher the chance that an innocent would get hurt. With her last bit of strength, Trinity ran to the town's exit. She kept running and running. She headed north through the Dragonscar Plains, her eyes closed the whole way. She did not even see the fans appearing out of nowhere, slicing and dicing her dark pursuers.
As it turned out, the second voice she had heard that told her to run belonged to a mysterious girl named Kazega. She found Trinity in the middle of the plains, beat from the fighting and the running. By that point, Trinity was desperately trying to solve the mystery behind the events of the night but failed to grasp at anything. Kazega sat down beside her and said nothing. Whenever Trinity left to wander around the plains, Kazega followed. More often than not, she was grateful, for Trinity was attacked so often.
Several days passed and Trinity began to miss her family and her previous way of life. However, Kazega constantly reminded her of the sorrowful truth. "Run, for they will not cease until they have your heart." And thus Trinity ran. Ran from her troubles. But she wondered about what the first voice had told her. Was she being cowardly? Was this the true way down the path of light? Or was her heart slowly becoming consumed by the darkness?
Many more days passed and Trinity became injured in a brutal ambush that took place in the darkness of the night. Kazega tended to her the next day in a small grove in the northern part of the plains. That is when four travelers chanced upon them...
Kazega stood. "Leave. Now. Unless you have come for her heart." She stood and instantly summoned her fans from nowhere. "If you side with the creatures that feed on hearts, I have no choice but to destroy you."
Trinity stood as well. "I....I won't....m-make you do this alone," she managed to say as she summoned her oversized key. "Together...w-we will...take you down!" she shouted at the trespassers. The two were ready for battle. It was inevitable.
Phase 00: Misunderstanding
Location: Dragonscar Plains - Grove of Tranquility
Objective: Defeat Kazega!

Clara starts in J1!
Seeing the two girls somewhat frightened Clara. She was unsure why they would randomly start a fight. She fled the scene, leaving her sister to stay and fight. But she would not leave, she would not escape. She hid herself away carefully, barely able to see the figures through the trees. When she calmed her nerves, her Organ appeared, and she sat down. If she was going to hide, she might as well be useful.
Ariana starts in J5!
Watching her sister flee to safety, Ariana grew quite angry. Her fists clenched and she whiped out her staff. "How dare you scare my sister! She did nothing wrong! She didn't harm you... you BULLIES!" She was about to cast her worst magic on them, but knew she was out of range. She grumbled to herself and stood in place, ready for a fight.

Ryas was tired. They had been, literally, walking for hours on end. She wasn't much of a physical person but this was ridiculous. So when they came a small, little safe spot, at least that's what it looked like, Ryas had been happy. And then, these two random people decided to deem them as enemies. Great.
"God, little . . . . ." the Witch sighed heavily, energy exhausted. "You know what. Whatever. If they want a fight, I'll give it to them."
"Just say in the back and leave them to me," a figure said, suddenly appearing beside her. Ryas just glared at Tenkai, who looked back at the Witch with an amused look. "You won't be much help with all your huffing and puffing."
"Tenkai. . . . ." Ryas growled out, eyes seeming to flare. "Unlike you, I'm not a brute."
"So you say," the Dark Assassin seemed to smirk, though it was hard to tell with the black mask she wore. "Look at it this way. The sooner we finish this, the sooner we can rest."
"Fine," Ryas bit out, grumbling darkly. She hated agreeing with the Dark Assassin.
[Ryas] starts at [I-4].
[Tenkai] starts at [I-5].

Ariana moves to I6!
Ariana held her staff tighter as she moved. She was itching to cast some hurtful Green Magicks the bullies. But she was still not in range, she would have to wait. She continued to grumble, but never took her eyes away from their foes.
Clara watched them from behind the trees and smiled. She was sure they wouldn't come after her. She slowly warmed up herself for the battle by playing a simple tune. When she finished, she raised her hands and then slowly played a gentle tune. She hummed along with the tune and smiled ash she played. Little did her enemies know this was not an ordinary tune.
Clara plays Sonnet!
(Damage: 110% INT/Status: Confusion 50%/Element: --)

"Alright, you have a plan or what?" Ryas said as the two stood where they were, unmoving. Tenkai just raised an eyebrow.
"Plan?" the Dark Assassin sounded amused. "Why bother with a plan? This won't take long at all." With that said, Tenkai dashed forward, toward the woman ahead of them.
[Tenkai] moves to [E-5].
"Why, oh why, won't she die?" Ryas murmured to herself, rubbing her temples. Despite being an Assassin, Tenkai always rushed into things without a care in the world. It was irritating to say the least. Especially since she was the one that had to patch the other up whenever the Dark Assassin hurt herself.
[Ryas] moves to [G-4].
Tenkai smirked under her mask upon seeing the Witch move forward. Despite how Ryas acted, it was obvious she cared. Tenkai then turned back to their opponents, claws flashing as she readied herself. In a blink of an eye, she suddenly disappeared, reappearing in front of the first woman and taking by surprise. The Dark Assassin suddenly lashed out, cutting at her before disappearing back to her original spot.
[Tenkai] uses Strike on [Kazega]! [120%] ATK DMG.
MP: 8/15
"Well, I can't do anything," Ryas commented upon checking the distance between her and the women. "Have fun, Tenkai."
[Ryas] waits.

"Understood," she muttered weakly in return.

Trinity waits.
"Feel the power of the wind carrying your soul to oblivion," Kazega said as she waved one of her giant fans. A harsh gust rattled the air causing a small gust of wind mana to swirl around the assassin, cutting him up.

Ariana moves to H5!
Ariana moved closer to the duo that was now attacking the Assassin. She figured that the quiet girl was hurt already from something. Why not get rid of her. Of course she wasn't close enough yet, but she would get her.
Clara watched the effects of her Tune and smiled. True it wasn't a smile of happiness, but that she was somehow helping. She had always felt somewhat helpless, and this was making her feel better. She slowly played the same tune, the tune carrying over to her enemies.
Clara plays Sonnet!

Upon seeing the damage dealt to Tenkai, Ryas laughed. "This is what happens when you rush in there, you idiot." Tenkai looked at the Witch before laughing as well.
"Well, I don't see you doing anything," the Dark Assassin said in a taunting fashion. Ryas stopped laughing here to glare. "I'm not too worried anyway." And she moved forward.

"Hello," the Dark Assassin greeted the woman. She then struck the woman, fully intending to disable her.

Tenkai brought a single hand up to hover over the gash, careful of her claws. She was silent before smirking and looking back up at the other woman.
"Now this is how it should be," the Dark Assassin said before striking out at the other.
[Tenkai] attacks [Kazega]! 4 DMG! (ATK)
"Next thing you know, they'll be having a slapping contest," Ryas muttered under her breath upon seeing the two slash at each other. She didn't know whether to laugh at the display or just groan and pretend she didn't see anything.
Deciding to just attack, Ryas conjured up a small fireball in her hand, winding up to pitch it. She didn't bother to warn the Dark Assassin, who already sensed the attack and quickly dodged to let it pass.

Trinity watched as the enemies dealt more and more damage to her friend. "L-leave...her alone," she managed weakly. The oversized key she held began to glow with a brilliant light. "I....I have....reached....my...LIMIT!" She suddenly stood up with a burst of adrenaline and fired an enormous beam of light at the witch who threw the fireball at Kazega. The beam flashed through the air, scathing all who got in its path. Kazega, knowing the move was imminent, had ducked to the ground moments before.
Trinity uses D-Ability Trinity Limit on Ryas! 8 Piercing Holy Dmg!
Ariana and Tenkai are scathed by the attack! 4 Piercing Holy Dmg!
Trinity waits.
Unable to stand any longer, Trinity fell to her knees. She could do no more harm. Her muscles wouldn't let her.
Kazega could feel her defeat was inevitable. She was only glad that Trinity could at least utilize her strongest attack. But Kazega refused to die that easily.
Kazega uses Heal Herb on herself!

When the attack subsided, she held herself up with her staff. it had taken alot out of her, but she wasn't down, not yet. She moved forward and raised her staff once more. The very same chant caused another burst of Mana to shoot towards the frail girl this time.
Ariana casts Poison on Trinity!

Clara knew that this was coming to an end, she would play her part in the ending. She continued playing, not really paying attention. Suddenly she played a wrong note and everything seemed off. She continued anyway and played louder, like she was attacking the enemies. Soon after she stopped playing.

Clara knew that this was coming to an end, she would play her part in the ending. She continued playing, not really paying attention. Suddenly she played a wrong note and everything seemed off. She continued anyway and played louder, like she was attacking the enemies. Soon after she stopped playing.

As the attack came toward her, Ryas suddenly grabbed at the doll at her side and held it out in front of her. The doll absorbed the attack and Ryas looked satisfied, examining what she had deemed as her armor before hanging it back at her side.
Tenkai just brushed herself off as the part of the attack hit her, skinning her and making her bleed. She didn't bother cleaning up the blood, seeing as the battle wasn't over yet.
"Weakling," the Dark Assassin taunted at the Witch who just crossed her arms.
"Unlike you, I'm not a masochist," Ryas said.
"Pain is what makes us know we're alive," Tenkai retorted, though she didn't deny the accusation. She ended the conversation there, turning back to the fan user. "I, frankly, don't care. You came at us looking for a fight so a fight we shall give you." She then slashed at her. "We can talk this out after this."

As the final slash hit her, she frowned. Her thoughts were swarming. How could I let Trinity down? What kind of friend am I? She fell to the ground with her fans at her side. She looked up and glowered at the assassin. "S-so this is what the end feels like? I'm sure it would feel better....if I knew...my friend.......safe.... ... ..." Her words ended there as she lost consciousness.

"Finally," Ryas breathed out, throwing her arms into the air in exasperation. She walked up to the two women, arms placed at her hips. "Look, I don't know about you but I am tired, cranky and I want to REST. But when we came here, hoping to REST, you two got all hostile on us. So, we decided to get hostile back. It was obvious you two were acting like cornered rats so it was best to beat the sense into you and then we could TALK."
"The tranquility of this place could have remained if you had just LISTENED or at least ASKED," Ryas continued, looking terribly aggravated. It was obvious she was blowing off some steam. Tenkai just watched, amused. "And if you haven't noticed, your friend is still alive. Now move so I can heal her."

Clara joined the others, holding her hand to her mouth as she looked at the person they had attacked. She had no idea they had worn her out so much, she just meant for them to leave her alone.
"Oh.. I... I'm sorry... I didn't..."
Ariana on the other hand didn't have the same feelings.
"There is no need to Apologize Clara, they threatened us!"
She was about raise her staff and hit the girl when Clara gave her a push. The young mage fell to the ground surprisingly. As she got to her feet, she found her sister guarding the poor child.
"Leave them alone! Can't you see she was already hurt! We just made it worse!"
"Whatever, just move!"
Clara moved slowly, but stood close enough so that she could guard any blow her sister could give.

Trinity looked up at the witch and backed away reluctantly. She did notice that the witch had healing powers during the battle. "I-I apologize for any trouble we caused you," Trinity said weakly after hearing Ryas's rant. "It's just....when you've been through what we've been through...where every moment....could bring new danger, you kinda get used....to reacting like that....to everything."

"Oh, believe me, I can totally understand," Ryas muttered darkly as she bent down, raising a glowing green hand. She made sure to send a glare at Tenkai as she said this before turning back to the wounded woman. "When you have someone that pretty much attacks anything that moves, you get used to it."
Green light gently sprinkled down on the fan user, healing the worst of the woman's wounds. Ryas frowned and continued applying her Heal magic until all the wounds had closed. Finished, the Witch looked up at the other one.
"I might as well do you as well," she muttered, moving her hand up so that the healing would work on her instead. "Name's Ryas and the untalkative one over there is Tenkai. She only says something when she's slaughtering something so don't expect a lot when talking to her."
"You make me sound like a barbarian," Tenkai said, sounding amused.
"That's because you are," Ryas snapped.

Trinity smiled as Kazega slowly opened her eyes. "T-Trinity? Are you okay?" she asked. Trinity just hugged her tightly.
"Yes, I am okay," she replied. "These people weren't after us or anything. They're just travelers. As a matter of fact, Ryas here healed you and me. They're not bad people." Trinity stood up. "My name is Trinity Heart, and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. This is Kazega. We've been roaming the plains for a while now. It feels like an eternity-"
At that moment, there was some rustling nearby. Two mandragoras scuttled out from behind the trees and they looked hostile. However, they weren't the strange things. Kazega's eyes opened wide. "They're here...."
Nearby shadows began shifting and little creatures that appeared almost frog-like with their bulbous yellow eyes and long, black, crinkled antenna. They appeared to be attracted to Trinity for some reason.
Kazega explained. "It is those who feed on hearts; they are the ones we were worried about." Quickly, she picked up her fans and prepared for battle. Trinity held out her hand and her oversized key, which she obviously used as a weapon, appeared out of nowhere.

Clara backed herself up to the trees. If she couldn't hide like last time, she would fight. Her Organ suddenly appeared and she sat down to play.
"I'll do my best to stay out of harm's way!"
Ariana starts in A3!
Ariana knew her sister well enough to know to leave her surrounding area. She moved through the trees and found herself on the other side. She moved closer to the creature and readied her spells.

"Language," Tenkai absentmindedly reminded as she eyed their new adversaries, bloodlust clear in her eyes. "That last one was just a warm-up anyway."
"Warm-up my ass!" the Witch snapped, seething. "I swear, if I don't get my rest, I am going to Super Nova something!"
"Just use it on them. It'll make everything easier," Tenkai suggested, flexing her claws as she readied herself. Ryas just glared.

"I will NOT allow you to claim our hearts as your own," Trinity stated defiantly, a flare of anger in her gray eyes. She held the oversized key up; she could barely wait to strike down the vile creatures.
Kazega starts in C3.
Kazega said nothing, but focused her attention on the mandragoras. Trinity can handle these weakling shadows; she's fought them many times before. The mandragoras are fairly new. She held her fans in a battle stance.
