The Adventures of Naletia: Ancient Civilization

Long, long ago, there existed a large continent that was the center of the world of Naletia. Far surpassing even the technology of today's Ermith, this continent of Isandu was annihilated in the Dragon-God War. But what happened before that? What is there in the past that we do not yet know? Well, take this journey into the past with me, and you will discover the origins of humanity and beasts.

Come to the past Isandu, before beasts and humans were hostile towards each other. Where technology was at its highest point, where humanity prospered under careful watch of their dragon ancestors.

Welcome! This is a little something that I cooked up not too long ago. This is the final continent in Naletia (I promise). In this role play, it's lands will be explored, and games shall be played. It should be fun. =3

The Capital City of Isandu is a very large city indeed. Skyscrapers shoot up to the heavens, the buildings crammed close together, as if unifying the city on ground and in the sky. Looking up for too long would cause one not used to the city to become very dizzy. Around the skyscrapers fly dozens and dozens of aerial beasts, such as wyverns and sail serpents and vultures. On the ground, many humans walk along the streets, either in groups or alone. The cobalt and granite roads, a grayish blue color, giving the city a very blue look, as most of the buildings around the area were also made from cobalt and other blue metals. Motorized carriages carted important people around the city on these roads, which were a recent addition to technology.

Topaz-colored street lights lined the paths on either side of the road. Each road in the city eventually looped around and pointed towards the greatest entertainment center known to Isandu. The Colosseum. A place where warriors could fight each other in a contest of strength and wit. The Colosseum was an enormous, cobalt structure, the blue metal walls seemed to loom ominously over the heads of those who approached it.

But this place was a normal occurrence for one such as Nemile, so attuned to the city life. Her dazzling blue eyes shone with confidence as she beheld the great entrance. Beside her stood a large beast with great blue wings and a tan underbelly. It also had brown horns that curved back beside its neck. The wyvern growled loudly at the Colosseum entrance, pushing its head into the not-so-sturdy body of Nemile.

Quickly catching herself before she fell flat on her face, Nemile turned to her wyvern and smiled, petting the scar on its head lightly. "It's alright, Ralu," Nemile cooed softly, her voice like magic, "I'll be totally fine, they never let contestants get too badly injured anyway. Why don't you go look for something to eat? I know you haven't hunted for awhile, and contestants aren't allowed to have pets entered anyway."

Ralu eyed the short, young girl tenderly with his sensitive red eyes. Then, reluctantly, the wyvern spread his massive wingspan and was high up in the skies in a matter of seconds. Grinning now that she had gotten rid of her overprotective companion, Nemile ran forward into the Colosseum, unable to contain her excitement.

"So much blue..."

Aria looked around the city as she walked, her curvy figure swaying slightly with each step. Her eyes full of disinterest as she looked around, a small frown on her face. Though the city was rather nice, and the people she had been passing seemed friendly enough, she wasn't pleased. Everything was rather boring...

"Too much..."

The little fox in her arms nodded at this and she looked down. He blinked once and then nodded in agreement again. There was way too much blue. A nice splash of white, black, or any color really would have made it less monotone visually. She looked back up, nodding as he had done, as if confirming the agreed upon statement again.

That's when it came into view, after all of their walking they eventually found themselves at the Colosseum. It didn't stand out from the rest of the buildings, other than the structure. Even then it was just as visually unappealing to the girl and her pet as everything else had been. Though... it did provide an interesting idea.

The fox didn't meet with any force as it easily wriggled its way out of her grip and down to street way. It ran over to the building and turned around to look at the young woman who had been carrying it. His head tilted to the side, as if to say: "Would this be worth checking out?"

She nodded in response and began to walk over to the large building, picking the fox up again. This would definitely be more interesting than walking through the mundane city some more. As she attempted to enter though, a sign caught her eye, the blue lettering causing the frown on her face to grow further. Though it wasn't the color that was upsetting her.

No Pets Allowed.

The fox wasn't bothered by this, instead it wriggled out of her grip yet again and sat itself outside the large wall. Aria moved to grab it and move on from the building, but it shook its head in defiance. With a sigh of submission, the woman moved away from the pet and into the building. However, she stopped to turn back towards her pet before entering.

"Stay there."

The fox nodded once more.

The inside of the Colosseum was rather large. And very blue. Pillars held up the ceiling of the main hall, which was adorned with green and yellow banners and lights. Every so often a large fountain sprouted from the floor and into a large basin. Each fountain had an angel statue, each one with a different pose. At the far end of the hall, a large pair of brown double doors stood, closed tightly.

Nemile only had a second to take in her surroundings when she entered the Colosseum, for a figure rushed at her at amazing speed, a sword drawn. Quick to react, Nemile slid her own sword out effortlessly and met her attacker's sword with equal strength effortlessly. Her frown immediately grew into a huge grin when she realized who was attacking her. It was the clerk. His disheveled brown hair and toothy grin was easy to recognize. There was no doubt, the clerk was testing Nemile's skill.

"Welcome back, Lady Nemile," the clerk rumbled, as if meeting Nemile's blade caused him great pleasure. The Colosseum director pushed harder against Nemile's sword. But in a flurry of quick blows, Nemile disarmed the clerk and caused quite a few welts to grow on the man's skin.

"It's good to see you're so enthusiastic," Nemile said happily as she sheathed her blade. She seemed to have enjoyed beating the man up a bit too much. "Do you have any challengers I can face?" Nemile asked, watching the clerk retrieve and put away his own sword. The clerk's name was a mystery, nobody knew because he never told it to anyone. So everyone merely called him Timol, which was dragon tongue for 'Mystery.' Along with an iron sword and sheath, Timol wore a wayfarers' cloak, which was a beautiful emerald green color and stretched all the way down to his kneecaps, where a pair of Xanite leggings was fashioned.

At Nemile's question, Timol frowned and shook his head. "'Fraid not. The king hasn't been comin' in recently, so warriors don't want nothin' ta do with this place."

"That's too bad," Nemile sighed, casting her gaze elsewhere, her eyes betraying her disappointment. She was looking forward to having a good fight, winning, then returning to Ralu and moving on from this boring city. Cobalt walls may have been a smart idea, since it was blast and fire-proof, but it was also one of the least color-changeable metal. Maieve would have been a better choice of metals. Naturally the metal was yellow, but it was so much more flexible with color changing. Not to mention it lasted a long time, though it wasn't as durable as cobalt.

Nemile smirked, looking back at Timol, "Then do you care to be my opponent?"

"No thanks," Timol laughed, holding up his hands in rejection. "I know better than to challenge you."

Nemile shrugged in response, for her attention had been caught by a movement to her side. She turned around and saw a very pretty, very curvy woman walking into the Colosseum. Her eyes seemed vacant of emotion, boredom was carved all over her face and lit up with bright, flashing neon lights.

Beside her, Timol also caught sight of the woman and put his hand on his sword, but wasn't anywhere near pulling it out before his left cheek met the cold, hard adamantite boot that Nemile wore. "Oi," Nemile growled, "Don't attack people the moment they walk in, it's rude." Nemile placed her boot back onto the ground and smiled at the newcomer. "Hi there, my name's Nemile. Welcome to the Colosseum. She ain't a pretty sight, but the entertainment here is top-notch."

Aria's frown readjusted itself to a small smile as she noticed the other colors on the inside of the colosseum. It faded however, when another woman approached her. Though she didn't outright say it, there was only one reason she was in this place, she wanted a fight.

"Its certainly much nicer than the rest of this city."

Looking over the intricate angel statues adorning the fountains every so often. The green and yellow banners at least detracted from the blue, wouldn't have been the colors she would have picked though. However, anything was better than all of the blue she had been experiencing in this vapid city. Her gaze fell back on the woman at hand, looking her up and down for a moment.

"Very well then, shall we get everything set up?"

Temol raised his eyebrows, then a slight grin began to grow on his face as he realized what the new girl meant. "By all means," he said proudly, taking a deep, mocking bow towards them. "If you two would kindly follow me, I will take you to the arena." Temol swiftly turned around and led the two girls towards the large double doors. After fiddling around with an large ring of keys, Temol unlocked the door and opened it, revealing the area behind it.

The inside of the Colosseum's arena was nothing like the rest of the city. The entire ground was covered in a hard, sandy surface, the walls were a dazzling stone white that reflected the light of the sun, high above their heads, almost perfectly. The lower part of the arena was circular, it was the area that warriors fought it out.

On the upper level of the arena, which circled around the lower level, were the stands where the commoners could sit and watch the feats of strength take place. There did not seem to be a place for the nobles to sit at the moment, but those seats were actually hovercrafts, which allowed them to roam the area and get all sorts of different angles of views.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" Temol called out into a microphone. Where he procured that, Lemile didn't catch, but what she did notice was the crazy man was shouting into an empty crowd. "It is my pleasure to introduce to you two young warriors who would do battle with each other! Here are the rules! Ultimate abilities are sealed off, the usage of one will result in the disqualification of the warrior. Also, the battle will stop after one of these warriors reaches 50% of their maximum health! I will be the judge of that. Now then, battle begin!"

Aria frowned at the rather eccentric man who was shouting at an empty arena. That was rather odd, particularly since he had seemed to be a rather level headed person at first glance. And yet, she was proven to be incorrect in her assumptions, it only strengthened her would be motto: Assumptions are dangerous, do not assume anything ever. With a sigh, she placed herself at a rather close distance. It would make firing off her spells rather easy.

Aria almost lazily lifted her hand as she finished speaking, palm open and facing Nemile. Looking away, as if bored with the fight already, she sighed and closed her eyes. An icy colored energy began to gather in her palm as she breathed, forming a sphere of blue. When she opened her eyes again, she looked at her opponent, a small smile gracing her face for a moment.

"Lets put you on ice..."

The sphere of blue energy suddenly hardened into a ball of rough ice that floated inches away from her hand. In another second, the Elementalist's hand closed into a fist and the sphere shot forward at the Paladin at rather fast speeds. With her attack done, the mage took several steps backwards.

"Oof," Nemile grunted as she caught the icicles in her shield. Not all of them were caught though, so she took a bit of damage, but she resisted. Shaking off the injuries with relative ease, Nemile marched forward and pointed her sword at the strange magician. Conducting mana into her blade, Nemile swund her sword, sending the magic out towards the woman, surrounding her in a field of magnetic magic that seemed to zap away at her strength. "Gotcha," Nemile grinned.

"Interesting."

Aria looked down at herself after her opponent made a rather strange move for one with a physical weapon. Her strength seemed to be sapped, and her mana was blocked ever so slightly. An interesting technique this girl had, definitely something that turned the tide of the battle in her favor a little more. But the Elementalist could deal with this minor setback.

Raising her hand once again, another sphere of blue energy appeared just outside reach of her palm. She closed the hand into a fist once more and the blue energy turned ice shot at the woman she was fighting. All the while, Aria's eyes looked away with disinterest. There wasn't much exciting about this now was there? Sighing, she moved away a little. It didn't make much difference though, Nemile would catch up to her soon.

"That magic of yours is incredibly useful," Nemile complimented with a smile, drawing closer to the mage and raising her sword before slashing away at the woman, making sure only to his her with the flat of her blade. It would do the same damage, Nemile just didn't want to draw any blood from the older woman. It was a fault of hers, not brave enough to crush a humanoid enemy. She left that to Ralu most of the time. But Nemile was very impressed with the magic the woman was showing off.

"You're quite impressive yourself."

Aria raised her hand at the now relatively close woman, the sphere of blue energy gathering at her palm once more. Another disinterested look in another direction as it formed the ice she had been showing off the entire battle. Closing her hand, the ice shot off at the woman, and Aria sighed. It was such a shame she had lost use of most of her abilities after coming here. Had this been on her homefield, the fight would have been over already. Oh well, at least this was better than walking around the city.

Nemile flicked her sword, twirling the handle around her hands as she moved to catch up with the magician. Something about the woman's magic seemed off. It was as if the woman was not at her full power. Granted, Nemile also was not at full power, which would have made defending against the mage's attacks much easier. At least, that's what Nemile thought. Shaking off the thought, Nemile caught her sword and slashed lazily at the woman, smacking the hard, flat end of the blade against her, causing large welts to grow in place.

Aria casts Chill on Nemile! 8 Int Ice Damage!

Things were getting even duller for her. The battle was taking forever, though she had a feeling it would be over soon. That field that was blocking her mana flow was weakening and soon she'd be back to full power. As long as she lived to see that, she could finish this rather easily. Another palm raised, another sphere of blue energy, another ball of ice that was sent flying at the woman. Only this time, the Elementalist didn't move.

Nemile's Turn

Nemile paused for a moment, looking slightly distressed. If her calculations were correct, she was going to lose this battle. There was nothing she could do to prevent her loss, so the paladin took a few steps back and dropped her sword. "I forfeit," Nemile declared proudly, smiling brightly as the energy field that wrapped around the magician faded into nothing. "There is no reason to continue this fight, the victory clearly belongs to you."

"Game set! The noble Paladin, Nemile has given up the victory to the beeeautiful magician!" Timol shouted excitedly into his microphone to a non-existent crowd. Slightly irritated by the way the man was talking, Nemile glared at him, though he didn't seem to notice. So she sighed and took a step closer to the magician.

"I don't believe I ever caught your name," Nemile mentioned with a smile, extending her hand out as if to offer it to the woman. "I'm Nemile Wetyna, a Paladin. It's a pleasure to meet someone as strong as you."

"Forfeit?"

A quick frown passed over the Elementalist's face, but she quickly corrected it, pursing her lips into a thin line. They released when the woman offered her hand and name, Aria reached out with the same arm and shook her hand. It had been a good fight, much more amusing than walking around the city until she decided to leave.

"Aria. It was a pleasure, thank you."

"You two seem to be getting along," Timol interrupted them, butting in with his large head and messy brown hair. Nemile ignored him and began heading towards the Colosseum exit.

"Would you like to meet me outside?" Nemile asked politely, "There are a few things I'd like to talk to you about."

As soon as Nemile took a step outside the Colosseum, she was immediately greeted with the sight of her companion, Ralu the wyvern. His enormous blue body towered over Nemile as he stared down at the girl. "Ralu," Nemile smiled, placing her hand on his tan underbelly. "I told you I'd be back. Did you get enough to eat?"

Without a word, Ralu took a step back with his strong legs, allowing Nemile to further move away from the Colosseum. He lowered his body to the ground, a sign that he wanted to leave the city with Nemile on his back. Nemile shook her head though, "Not just yet Ralu, there's something that I want to do first." With that said, Nemile turned back around and waited for Aria.

Aria watched as Nemile began to move off, ignoring the colosseum director. She wanted her to follow so that they could talk. Interesting; But not just yet. Her gaze averted from the Paladin and over to the man. Her lips pursed again for a moment before turning to a small frown. This man hadn't made a good first impression, that was for sure.

Turning away from him, she began to walk out of the colosseum, noticing Nemile none to far away. One of the Elementalist's brows raised at this, she wasn't alone. Rather she was with a large Wyvern, one that she guessed was rather protective. It wished to usher the other girl out of the area, but she stopped it to turn and wait for Aria.

Her brow lowered, and she began to move over to the duo, but she stopped halfway. Looking over to the wall, she kneeled for but a moment and the fox that had stayed behind went over to her. Jumping into her arms, Aria raised herself to a standing position once more and walked over to the Paladin. Her eyes remained expressionless.

How adorable. So Aria had a little pet fox? Nemile couldn't help but feel slightly superior because she had Ralu, a wyvern, as her companion. Though the fox did seem to hold a bit of energy inside it. Nemile had a knack of sensing the power of others. Aria held around the same amount as Nemile, so she figured that their fight was based on luck instead of skill. Either way, the mage had impressed her, and Nemile had already taken a liking to Aria.

"How would you feel about traveling together?" Nemile inquired of Aria, subconsciously petting Ralu beside her. "There have been reports of fights breaking out outside the city walls, which is very strange. I've seen a fair share of injured men and women in the inns around here, and they all seem to say the same thing. They were attacked by a beast."

"I know for a fact that this has never happened before," Nemile continued, looking down into the eyes of her companion. "The partner of my soul, Ralu, has never attacked a human in hunger or in spite. What I want to know is why these wild beasts feel differently. Either way, it is no longer safe to travel in small groups. This is one reason why I propose that we become partners as well."

Aria's brow raised at the offer, not something she had been expecting the Paladin to present her with. After all, they had only just met; While the fight in the colosseum had been interesting and different, nothing could change that fact. She supposed the girl had taken a liking to her abilities, but she wasn't quite so sure. The fox in her arms didn't make any motion to agree or disagree with her thoughts.

Her brow raised again at the talk of a beast attacking travelers. A strange twist, especially since she had only just arrived in the city. Aria didn't remember meeting with any beasts, though her memory could have been off. The little fox shook its head in response; They had not encountered any beasts. With that confirmed, the Elementalist lifted her head and closed her eyes for but a moment.

"This intrigues me as well."

Her eyes opened and she smiled slightly.

"I accept your offer. It would be in our best interest to travel together."

Nemile beamed, very glad that Aria had decided to join her. Now she had another human to talk to whenever she was on the road to another city or a shrine. Ralu seemed to be getting restless though, and bumped his long neck into Nemile's legs. She finally decided to oblige him and climbed on Ralu's back, hooking her legs around the wyvern's wings where they met the neck. Ralu pushed himself off the ground with his powerful legs, stroking his wings downward to stay airborne.

"I'll meet you later," Nemile called down to Aria, "There are a few things I still have to do in this city. I'll be at the inn later tonight so we can discuss there when we will leave. This city is rather large, so you can explore, but other than that, there really isn't much to do here." With that, Ralu's impatience took a hold of him and he shot into the sky, flying near the tops of the skyscrapers.

Aria frowned at the woman's leaving, it was rather rude to ask someone to join you and then take off to tell them you'd meet them later. But alas, the younger woman had a mount; A companion that she herself would have a hard time keeping up with.

"Maybe Nocturne could-"

The fox replied before she could finish her thought, his head shaking almost immediately. Aria smiled slightly, it would be funny to see him as a mount. However, it wasn't unheard of, maybe some magic could transform him later on. She was certainly alright with his current form, it was easier to travel with him this way.

Watching the woman fly off, Aria nodded as if to say goodbye and began to walk into the city once more. A frown returned to her face, the city's color scheme hadn't changed in the slightest since she had been in the colosseum. Not that she had expected it to, but at least in the colosseum there had been other colors.

With a sigh, the Elementalist began to move around the town anyway, watching what passed her by. The next thing to come into sight after the large colosseum was none other than the castle. Aria had meant to pass it on by and just go to the inn, but the ball off fluff in her arms had different ideas. Once again he wriggled out of her grip and ran over to the castle gate. She sighed and followed him over, he continued into the castle; She followed.

Aria visits the King's Castle

Inside the castle's main lobby stood two enormous statues of a faceless warrior. The rock these statues were made of glowed an ominous green color, giving the lobby a very eerie and overwhelming feeling. The floor was made entirely of marble, with red fabric paths marking the directions of the most important doors. Two doors on either the left or right side were easy to notice because of this path, as well as the two large double doors at the other end of the main lobby that marked the throne room. There were no guards positioned at those double doors, which suggested that the king was not in the throne room.

The walls of the castle were a pale grey color, which really set it apart from the rest of the metal, blue city. However, the walls seemed to give off a strange magic, though the purpose of it could not be identified. Perhaps it was a ward or a barrier to stave off effects of erosion or destruction.

Servants frequently passed through the main lobby to get into other rooms on the opposite wing, mostly going into rooms that had no red carpet leading to them. It was safe to assume that visitors were not exactly welcome in those rooms. A few other servants that stayed in the main lobby were either cleaning or gossiping or both.

Aria smiled slightly as she noticed different colors on the inside. The citizens must have shared her apathy for the overdose of azure hues. However, the smile on her face faded as she noticed where the red led. Only three other paths for her to follow, and two extra rooms that she deemed weren't open to the public. A shame. What could those rooms possibly hold that was so secret?

She would find out.

However, the servants in the current room would prove problematic. No doubt if one of them caught her and Nocturne going into one of those rooms, she'd be kicked out. So she would just have to draw their attention to something. Moving forward, she stopped upon reaching one of the statues, biting her lip for but a moment. She'd have to have a well thought out plan first.

Aria moves to F5!

All the while, the two servants close by kept talking. The Elementalist listened to them babble while she thought. Maybe whatever they said could help her figure out how to distract one of the other two.
