The Northern Winds

Hello my friend. Stay a while and listen. For I am about to tell a rather long and old story, one dating back centuries ago. The second largest continent in the world, Menitiros, had been known for its everlasting peace among the nations. They had never been part of an official war since the nine year war between Tian'men and Grandiar and the forming of an alliance between all of the nations. There had certainly been conflicts and minor disputes over boarders and culture but never an official war. Though all good things must come to an end. There was no such thing as everlasting peace. Due to the actions of a single renegade group, they had ignited the flames of conflict once again. The alliance, made up of seven different nations, now faced a six-sided war among themselves.

In the seventh nation, the Theocracy of Balmamusa, there was no war going on between its people or other nations. The nation was far enough north and completely isolated from the other nations by the Ocean that they managed to be able to escape being caught within the flames of war. And even when the other nations attempted to reach to the kingdom for aid, traveling through the howling winds and endless snowstorms in the frozen tundra for several days proved to be too great a feat for them.

However, Balmamusa was not with its own worries. The late Archbishop's daughter, Princess Cordelia, had disappeared on the day after her father's death. For two weeks they've searched for her, but the child was nowhere to be found within the city. Fearing for the young princess's safety and well-being, several travelers were hired to form a search party to look for the lost princess.

Okay here is another attempt at this rp after rewriting quite a bit of the story. I will have three people to be in this rp aside from myself and Gist.

On the frozen plains of Balmamusa several miles away from the nearest city, there were a small group of travelers treading through the deep snow. Travelers in Balmamusa was already a rare sight to see, but what's even rarer is that these travelers were all the way out here, far from any civilization. The lack of any kind of food source, along with the biting cold and unforgiving snowstorm, was enough to drive almost anyone away from the general vicinity. But apparently it wasn't the case with this group, they had a task to complete. Though when they left the city they were warned to tread lightly, as the frozen plains were home to various predatory animals, all of them having adapted to the harsh coldness and endless snowstorms. The group, with most of them not being used to such harsh climates, would be at a natural disadvantage in the snow. However the journey so far had been going fairly smoothly with nothing besides the deep snow and low visibility to slow down their search.

Of course that peace didn't last for very long as the sound of a howl came from a distance away. Moments later more howling could be heard, they were louder now, or maybe closer. And soon after the howls ended the group could see yellow eyes and gleaming white fangs through the snowstorm; they were slowly approaching. The eyes and fangs belonged to four white wolves, all of which looked hungry and bloodthirsty. The wolves circled the group and surrounded them, there was no way for them to escape now.

Elizabeth casually hummed a small little tune to herself, despite the bitter cold that surrounded her. She did not feel the cold though, her coat protecting her and keeping her warm. From the ring on her finger, she allowed the tiniest bit of magic to waft around her person, heating the air around her so the cold could not touch the areas of her body that were unprotected. Even when the wolves appeared to attack them, Elizabeth, preferring to be called Liz by her friends, continued allowing her magic to escape and warm her body. It was such a minuscule amount of magic that it would hardly be missed. Besides, her connections to the leylines of the land allowed quick restoration of her magic.

The girl was a small figure, though Liz never seemed to mind her short stature. Sure, it was inconvenient at times, but it also helped her. Escaping through tiny holes in the world was somewhat of a specialty she had. Her young face also helped getting out of bad situations. As a witch, she had to prove that her intentions were good in nature while in this land. More than once she faced prosecution for acts that she did not do. But when she joined this group, those circumstances became few and far between. Which was probably the primary reason why she hung around with the group, despite whatever disagreements she might have with the individuals involved.

"Wolves hunt in packs right?" Liz asked rhetorically, rubbing the gem-encrusted ring on her finger in thought. "So if we only knock out a few of them, they'll run away. Right? I hope so. Hurting animals isn't something I can enjoy."
