Aurelia gave a smiling nod to Silvia when she thanked her and was about to call for the girl to get somewhere safer but it seemed that Archer was already on it. The girl was now protected by both Archer and the captain, good. The bandits won't be getting past those two anytime soon, especially not with her healing. Her attention turned to Wrase, who was standing beside her and bleeding from three wounds. Light gathered once again within the gem focus, reflecting onto Wrase and sealing those three wounds.

Leilah relaxed for a fraction of a second as the men chose to go after Sunny and Archer instead of her. But she readied her stance once more, for it was not time to falter. The Nightblade dashed over to the most opportune spot–for it was one of the few places she could damage the foes and hopefully avoid Sunny's bombs–dagger at the ready. Once more she slipped the edge of her blade against the man's skin and, with a certain graceful brutality, forcibly dragged it up his torso making a deep cut. The blood flowed as expected.

"Y-yes sir!" Silvia responded, though not after watching the man who was protecting him attack the thug. She watched in awe at the graceful, yet deadly, movements ripped through the thug as if he were made of paper. Silvia took in a deep breath and did as she was told, moving back a little further from the fighting, though she never kept her eyes off her red-haired protector. Silvia wondered what his parents were like, to make someone so handsome and strong like this man.


Silvia shook her head, her face flushing red. How could she be thinking such things at a time like this? She was supposed to be worrying about staying out of danger, and getting the sword her father gave her back.

Eris saw what happened to his comrades-in-arms. There was nothing he could do. The royal Guard was much too strong for them to fight. Even with equal numbers they were losing so badly. Now, there was no hope at all. The only thing left to be done was to try to get to the girl. The little, annoying brat that tipped the Guard off with her screaming. Eris knew they should have gagged her first. Eris ran forward, hoping to get around the Guard to the girl. On the way, he slashed at one of the girls on the Guard, seeing she wasn't wearing any good armor.

Kilik glanced to the far side of the battlefield. Seven escaped. Good. That means the boss would get the sword soon, no problem. Now that the stalling job was done, Kilik had to do everything in his power to injure as many of the Guard as he could. Or, he could try going after the girl. The girl whose scream tipped off the Guard to their presence. If it wasn't for her, they would have never lost so many men. He ran to the side, joining his buddy and turned on the assassin, lashing out at her a number of times, in hopes of dealing some kind of damage.

"Surround them, men! Do not allow them to escape!" Gaiden barked out orders for what he hoped would be the last time today. For battle, anyway. He would allow his men to take care of the rest as he tended to the young girl, Silvia. Though she must still be shaken from her encounter with the thugs, and her near-death experience, Silvia seemed to be handling herself pretty well. It made Gaiden wonder if her father ever taught her how to hold a sword. If not, then a sickle would be a good start. The warrior's blood was in her veins, Gaiden knew that. She could learn quickly if she applied herself. However, now was not the proper time to suggest it.


Gaiden approached the young girl and cleared his throat, so that her attention would be on him. She seemed quite taken with Archer, though Gaiden noticed many women were. Some men, even. He was a rather handsome boy, after all. "Young lady, you said your name was Silvia, correct? I am Gaiden, Captain of the Royal Guard. If you are the Silvia I am thinking about, then I am a personal friend to your father. And I know he would not leave you to travel alone without good cause. Where might he be?"

The thugs seemed to have finally noticed her as one of them decided to slash at her. It made a small cut, but it wasn't anything serious. She wouldn't need to expend her energy to mend such a small wound that could easily heal with time. The thug that decided to take a swing at her was then beaten down by Archer and was probably near death, judging from the number and severity of his wounds. Someone else could have the honor of finishing the man off while Aurelia conjured another sphere of energy, launching it at the other remaining thug.

Although she was not quite the wall Gaiden was, the brute's attacks felt negligible to the Nightblade. However, that in no way meant he was allowed to get away with a good stab on her. Quite the contrary, Leilah turned on the man instantly and delivered the same curved slash of the dagger that she had on her previous target. Instantly the wound began to bleed and she shifted her stance to something fairly more defensive. Hopefully the man would realize that he was doomed and would run off as his ally had.

That would make the eventual chase all the more satisfying.

Silvia felt her heart drop, as if the entire world was resting it's weight on her. And it may as well have been. Her entire world was taken from her in just a few minutes. She would never see her father again, but Silvia still wanted to hope. Hope that he was somehow alive. But she couldn't say that to this man, Gaiden. She was safe in his company, that's what her father seemed to want.

Through the tears, Silvia looked up at Gaiden. "I think I am the same Silvia. Dadd-uh...father told me to come here to find you. He was...k-" Silvia sniffed, rubbing her eyes with a dirty sleeve, "the whole village was..." Silvia stopped, trying her hardest to rub away the tears that didn't seem to want to stop. She had to pull herself together. Silvia didn't want to seem like a little crybaby, even to these strangers. But she couldn't help it.

"Hic." Here it comes.

Kilik found hopelessness in his situation. He was the only on left standing among his comrades. But Seven got away with the sword. There was no way even the Guard could find their super secret hiding place! Chuckling to himself, despite the fact he was about to be done in, Kilik ran off to the side, not intending to fight anymore other than to defend himself.

Gaiden knew what he had to do next. It was time they put an end to this battle, and he knew just the way to do it. However, with Silvia like this, it wouldn't be kind to just leave and then come back, no matter the distance. So he placed his hand on her shoulder, surprised at how warm she was. It was a comforting gesture, at the very least. "Wait here, just one moment, Silvia. I have one last thing to attend to, then I'm all yours."

Gaiden turned around and approached the man attempting to flee. He would not allow it. Taking out his sword, Gaiden hooked the tip of his blade to the man's clothing, forcing him down to his knees with brute strength alone. Then Gaiden lifted his blade, pointing it directly down before slamming the blade through the area where the neck meets the shoulder.

With that last bit of business done, Gaiden wiped his blade clean of blood and threw it back into it's sheath, nodding at his men for a job well done.

With the last of the thugs taken care of, the Guard could finally rest and recover. It was not a difficult battle, but it did take up time. Already, the sun was beginning it's first descent into the horizon. Silvia remained where she stood, looking around at the bodies that lay before the Guard, beaten and broken. Were they all dead? She couldn't tell from just looking and she was not willing to go near the bodies to find out. But for what these thugs did...or what they tried to do to her, they deserved some form of justice. And this man, Gaiden, seemed to be on her side.

Silvia sniffed, wiping her eyes again, feeling a slight stinging sensation in her sinuses. She was about to look up again when she felt Gaiden's hand on her shoulder again. Silvia shuddered, though she didn't feel cold. She had to put her loss behind her, after all, there was one more thing she had to do here. Then she could leave this whole mess behind her. Maybe she could go back to her village, despite it becoming a wasteland. She wanted to look for her father. If he was dead. Silvia had to know for sure. But first, the sword.

"Sir," Silvia said, her voice pleading as she looked up into the man's eyes, "my father told me to give you something. A...a sword of some sort I think. But those evil men took it from me. Please, we have to get it back from them!" Silvia looked down and away, ashamed of herself. "It's my fault they stole it in the first place."

Gaiden sighed, patting Silvia's head with his free hand. To him, she was a small girl, but when comparing her to women like Leilah, she seemed about average. Silvia was much more muscular than Leilah as well. Years of working on a farm trained her body well. Still, those muscles were useless if she didn't know how to use them. And from the looks of her, she didn't.

"Not to worry, Silvia. We'll get that sword back," Gaiden assured, glancing over his shoulder a bit. His men did not know the significance of this particular sword, but he was confident that they would follow him if he thought it was important. And it was, though Gaiden could not fathom why that man did not deliver it alongside Silvia. "Prepare yourselves for another battle, men. We're heading out after these villains. Silvia, stay close to me." Gaiden was confident that this, like before, would just be another simple battle. He nor the others knew of the secrets that sword held, nor of it's bearer, Silvia.

Tracking the thug that had escaped proved to be much simpler than Gaiden had imagined. The fool left tracks behind that led straight through the city's alleys and to another open area surrounded by makeshift walls of tin. In the open space stood the one thug that had gotten away before and three others. Two of them stood on either side of the man in the back, who wore a black leather jacket and seemed much better off than his goonies. In his hand, he held the cloth-wrapped sword that the thug got away with.

The group of four noticed the presence of the Guard almost as soon as they arrived. The thug that had ran before seemed surprised, but the man in the back didn't seem at all shocked. "So the heroes come to recover what was lost, eh? Well, it's too late, Gaiden. The sword is mine." The man unwrapped the cloth covering the sword easily, almost ripping the fabric off to reveal an elegant sheath of gold, silver, and ruby. The hilt and guard of the sword was plated with gold with a firm, leather grip on the handle.

With a firm grasp, the man unsheathed the sword, revealing a bronze-colored blade that was both thick and sharp. Lining the center of the blade up to the tip were twin dragons, endlessly encircling each other until they reached the tip, where their maws opened. There wasn't one tip to the sword, there was five.

"The sword that slayed a thousand dragons," the man said, his eyes filled with malice, "finally, it is mine. Now I may become a legend!"

"A criminal can never become a hero!" Gaiden declared, unsheathing his own sword, which seemed dwarfed in comparison to Dragonslayer.

The Nightblade shifted as the thug drew the Dragonslayer for battle. Surely he couldn't be serious? If it was in fact the sword of legends, and she had little reason to believe it was not, then surely he knew better than try to wield it. Especially if he planned on putting up some sort of challenge. Fighting with a weapon that was not your own took time to wield properly–no doubt fighting with a sword he'd only been holding for a minute at most would prove difficult, if not nigh impossible. But he appeared painfully serious. So be it, she thought, finally drawing her dagger to take the offensive. If this man wanted to be foolish it would just make their job easier.

It seemed that the thug who ran away wasn't much of an experienced one as he didn't bother to cover his tracks. Of course it could also be that he was in too much of a hurry to do so, but either way it made tracking the vermin down far more easily than she had expected. She followed Gaiden into the thugs' hideout and surveyed the area. "It seems we've finally found the cockroaches' nest." Aurelia spoke loudly as she counted the number of cockroaches. Only four insects here including the leader, that couldn't be right. For being a nest there were far too few cockroaches in it. Judging from the leader's tone of voice he was somewhat expecting the guard to come. So then did they really believe that just four of them would be able to stand up to the guard? "How many cockroaches does it take to stand against the king's guard?" Aurelia questioned, "Surely four wouldn't be enough. If you have anyone else to help you should probably call on them now."

"You have my permission to lay waste to our enemy, Archer," Gaiden said, not really keeping any kind of close eye on his subordinate. Archer has proved himself countless times how valuable of an asset he is to the Guard. There was no need to watch him at this point. Besides, there was someone else who desperately needed protection. Silvia has already shown her resistance to attacks was abnormally low, especially for a farm girl. There was something else at work here when it came to the girl, and Gaiden was determined to figure out what.

"We might outnumber our enemy, but they might have others hiding in the shadows. Take care and remain focused." Gaiden wanted to make sure his men would not get hurt too badly, if at all. Defense is an important key to victory. That's what Gaiden ran all of his missions on, and it was what he was famed for as the leader of the Guard. No one has ever seen him fall in combat since he claimed his position.

Leilah's grip on her dagger tightened. For the briefest moment it seemed like she was going to zip through the area and land a strike head on, but instead she withdrew her stance. The grip on her dagger relaxed. "Archer," she said quietly, voice as smooth as silk, "hold a moment." Her dagger slid back into a separate sheath on her side and for the briefest moment she held her hands palm-up in front of her. Fury, she thought, hidden gaze locked on the cadet as a sphere of red energy appeared floating in the middle of her grasp.

"Thank you." she whispered as the sphere came to fruition, her right hand drawing it back. With the swiftest motion, her hand flew forward in Archer's direction and the red sphere shot forward at a surprising speed. The magic collided with the cadet and seemingly disappeared from existence. However, the red suddenly burst into a powerful aura surrounding Archer and with that the Nightblade had finished. "That should do." she concluded, drawing her dagger once more.

Aurelia waits

She did not move because there was no need for her to move. She was the most physically frail member of the guard and she needed to keep herself mostly out of harm's way. She was certain that her magic could help her though one or two of these cockroaches' attacks but any more and she could potentially fall. Besides the cockroaches were already being squashed by Archer so there was no real need for her to attack as well.

Silvia crossed her arms, hugging herself tightly, trying to figure out what was going on. This was too much for her.

The head thief glared at the insults that were thrown at his face. But that was fine. He was going to show them his power. The overwhelming power of the blade he held in his hand. He walked casually up to the very brave, if not foolish, man who attacked his subordinate. Without even looking, or caring, how much damage Seven took, Boss-man strut right up to the man and jabbed Dragonslayer at Archer, intending to use the five tips of the blade to deal a heavy blow. And while Archer's defenses were weakened because of his rage, the tips barely even scratched the surface.

"Aurelia, please heal Archer. He will need your powers for just a moment," Gaiden spoke kindly to the healer. He eyes Wrase off to the side, she seemed to have fallen into some drunken stupor. It would be bad if she died here, they were surrounded by enemies. She would certainly be a hard loss on the Guard as well, but her behavior recently...Gaiden decided to let it slide for awhile, but she was getting out of hand.

He would have to consider alternative measures.

Although the rest of the world could not see it, there was a small tug on the corners of the Nightblade's lips. Her magic had worked wonders on Archer; she took delight in watching him tear into their foe and knock the man within an inch of his life. With the cadet in such a state of rage this battle would be cake. They could batter the man who took the legendary blade and be on there way–she highly doubted they would run into trouble with these thieves again after such a display of absolute mercilessness.

But it seemed none of the thieves cared about the damage done to their comrade in the slightest. Leilah's slight smile turned into a deep frown, although this too was hidden by her mask. "Shame." she breathed, eyes locking on the man Archer had practically demolished in his fury. The thug was a pitiful sight: bleeding on out and convulsing away from the rest of his "friends." It was at that precise moment that a sudden idea struck the assassin, and she stepped forward boldly, spurning the ground with her boots to ensure that some manner of attention would land on her.

Leilah moves to D4

She reached within grasping distance of the nearly defeated foe, pausing for but a moment to direct her masked gaze in Gaiden's direction. However, she spoke not and instead lifted the man up by his neck, shifting around to place his convulsing form in front of her for the other thieves to see. "I would reconsider giving back the sword," she announced smoothly, repositioning her hands on the dying thief's jaw and nape. With the swiftest movement she shoved the jaw to the right, pushing it far past its normal range of motion; his neck let out a sickening squelch and she dropped the man to the floor. Dead. "Your fates shall be no different otherwise."

Aurelia moves to cell H-6

"Yes Sir." Aurelia responded promptly to Gaiden's order and moved closer to Archer. The man was practically rampaging and with Wrase out of commission for a while they couldn't afford to lose anyone else. Raising her staff she allowed a ray of light to emit from the gem focus and envelop Archer. The light mended what few wounds there were on him and Aurelia waited for her next orders.

Aurelia uses Flash of Light on Archer. Hope in Despair increases potency to 110%. 7 HP healed

Silvia waits.

Silvia shifted on her feet, knowing that she shouldn't move from her spot behind Gaiden. But with his large figure, she couldn't really see what was going on. From the sounds of it, the bandits were starting to get really angry about something. Was Archer okay? She hoped he wasn't getting hurt too badly, she couldn't bear it if her protectors were getting hurt over her mistakes. She would feel guilty, just as she felt guilty about her father's death.

She wished...she hoped that he somehow survived.

Boss-man gasped, the pain was too great for him to bear...almost. He was still breathing, but this damned, so-called legendary sword wasn't doing him any good. How was he even supposed to use it?! "Damn!" Boss-man cursed, raising his sword once again, then slamming the sword down as hard as he could, trying to cripple the man in front of him. But the man seemed to notice his attack and nimbly moved out of the way, making the effort null and void.

Nemi turned his head to the side, just in time to see his comrade, Seven, have his neck snapped by one of the members of the Guard. So not only was there this rampaging man destroying their ranks, this bitch was running around finishing them off. Nemi sighed. He's had enough of this. Throwing down his weapon, he lifted his hands over his head, a symbol of surrender.

Nemi surrenders! (Additional actions required)

Varn, unlike Nemi, was still bent on trying to kill this man, this rampaging, berserked man. But with every cut he made, it seemed as though it just disappeared. Confused and angry, Varn unleashed all of his might, trying to cut the man in front of him, to try and kill him before he wrecked them.

"Aurelia, kindly keep Archer alive. I don't want him getting hurt too badly," Gaiden asked their healer very politely. He knew how much of an asset Aurelia was to the Guard. Having a healer on the front lines was incredibly efficient, instead of just having healers waiting at home, where it might be too late. The only reason Gaiden himself was not on the front lines with Archer was because he needed to guard Silvia. No enemy has ever slipped through his defensive stature. Getting to Silvia now would be like trying to walk through a brick wall.

That is the kind of man Gaiden is, after all. His stony appearance and strong build were not just for show. How could they be, he was the Captain of the Royal Guard, after all. A great tactician, and a massive wall that no one has overcome. Not yet at least.

Gaiden nodded towards Leilah, then to the thug that surrendered. She knew what to do in this situation, he was confident in that. These were members of the Guard that he could trust with his life. And with his job, as long as Archer was there. The boy possessed great intelligence and a had a knack for combat.
