I don't particularly need to, but for music at school, we're spending 5 weeks on pianos, and 5 weeks on guitars.
We've already been doing pianos for a week or two, so I want to know how I can play a guitar, so I can get into the "experts" section.

As far as I know, only one person in the class so far knows how to play the guitar.

Hm. At my school, every guy knows how to play a guitar. I play a Gibson...dunno what type, but I know it's a red electric guitar....iz nice. And iz not mine. :'(

Well, I'm determined to do it.
I didn't know a damn thing about pianos/keyboards, and in two weeks I'm already playing the flat notes, and playing without any letters written down.

I'm sure I can do it with a guitar.

I've just recently playing violin....I can't even play a scale right yet...>.< Then again, it's only been about a week and I only received direction on two days out of that week. ^ ^; I'm workin' on it though. Once I master the violin, the guitar will be a piece of cake~!

You know the only thing similar about those two are the strings and the clef symbol? xD

For me, I play Clarinet and (recently) Piano. ^^;

Regardless, I will be blunt and say the levels of difficulty between the two instruments are quite far apart with the violin being on the harder side. ^ ^

I used to play drums and I was really good on Bass drum until I quit band altogether cause I thought it was a waste of my time and I lost my practice schedule and forgot to ask my music teacher. I truly fail.

Are you in a school band?

I am. Our trumpet section is horrible this year. >> Last year they were amazing~<3 This year, the Clarinets shine the brightest. ^^ We only have 3 Seniors on the Clarinet, 3 Juniors, and 2 Sophomores. Our Sophomores don't do much, so that's 6 Clarinets.

With a band our size, we're supposed to have at the very least 12 Clarinets. ^^;

This is the first year at school we're allowed to take guitars as an approved school instrument.
I wasn't aware that the guitar was sitting in the back of my room until yesterday.

Also, I successfully replaced the broken string, everything's good.

I've never taken band in school...though I did waaaaay back in the 6th grade. I don't know why I didn't get the class, but after seeing what the band folks had to go through (especially in high school) I was kinda glad I never took it. So I pretty much went into learning violin with no prior knowledge to music theory. XD

I took band in 5th and 6th grade. But my story's pretty close to yours though. never wanted high school band.
