The battle was naught more now than a flurry of exchanged blows, awaiting to see who would fall and who would prevail. Wallace could definitely feel the damage he had sustained over the course of the encounter start to have an effect on him, but he lashed out nevertheless with two more powerful strikes of his own, determined to hold his ground and keep his allies safe from harm. With its mana effectively drained by Auza's powerful magic, it was out of surprises and nearing its final stand. Wallace knew he could hold out at least a little while longer against this thing. He'd lose the respect of every demon he had now if he fell to this pathetic creature. Keeping his cool, he prepared for the crab's next assault, an iciness in his eyes. At the very least, it was almost over.

Wallace waits.

Growling in his mind, Restriction pounded on the crab with his hands before bashing his head against it. Wallace wasn't looking in the best of shape and if he went, then Restriction would be forced back into the vortex to return to his home for the time being. That was not going to happen. He spared a watery glance at Auza, though she probably couldn't see him looking at her thanks to the crab in the way, not to mention she seemed rather focused on taking the crab down. G...good....

"That's quite enough of this," Auza growled, stepping closer and closer to the crab until she was right up against it, between it and the cave wall. She raised her beads and a glyph appeared in front of her, purple in color. Black and white energies began converging in the center of the glyph, forming an orb of condensed power. She would aim the beam down at the crab instead of towards it. She didn't want to hit Wallace's minion. The demon turned out to be fairly useful.

With the orb ready, Auza swiped her beads down, tilting the glyph slightly downwards. A mass of energy shot out of the orb as a beam, ripping the crustacean asunder. If all went according to plan, Auza's beam should have ended it. If not, it would be severely weakened.

Auza casts Demi on Crysel! 49 Int Dark DMG!

Wallace and Restriction nodded to each other in respect. Out of Wallace's usable demons, Restriction was the easiest to get along with...aside from Disease who could hardly take care of himself. A vortex opened in the ground near Restriction and the demon took a moment to look at Auza thoughtfully before crawling slowly within, the portal disappearing as soon as he was safe and sound inside. It was here that Wallace took a deep breath and plucked a solitary crystal that appeared to be loose from the shell of the crab that was just defeated. He examined it a bit, holding it up to the glow of the light radiating from the crystals in the wall and ceiling before tucking it away.

"That did not take too much out of you, right? Are you good to continue on?" the demonologist turned to Auza, his tone lighthearted, yet his expression held a typical nonchalance that was sort of signature for him. "Shame on these foolish creatures for thinking that they could stop the likes of us. However, I am positive now more than ever that something is lurking within these caverns--something that does not wish us to be here."

"Yes, I'm able to continue on," Auza confirmed, closing her eyes for a second, just in case there were any nearby presences that she needed to be aware of. Further down the cavern, she could feel the faint outlines of creatures, but other than that, Wallace was the only one she felt a strong, much calmer presence from. "As for the creatures in these caverns, perhaps it is Desert Rose's doing? She might know that you are down here and sent these creatures after you?"

It was a possibility, they couldn't rule that out, no matter how careful Wallace was being keeping himself hidden. Of course, another possibility was that the creatures were merely hostile towards humans. Wallace bringing out his demons probably didn't help that matter either. Whatever it was, they would surely find out later. Auza looked forward to punishing whatever didn't like them. Even more so if it was the Desert Rose.

Wallace appeared to contemplate Auza's suggestion for a moment, but wound up shaking his head. Desert Rose was a very bright woman, though probably not of sound mind at the moment, but would she really have the insight to consider him a threat? "I am not sure she would go to such lengths even if she was aware of my existence on this continent," he explained. "So far, I have only been investigating the increased demon activity, though I have not been directly interfering with anything specifically. To her, I would be naught but a curious observer." Assuming she'd probably want to move on anyway, Wallace gestured for them to walk and talk so they could make some progress. "The only time I ever proclaimed to be going against her was right here in this very cavern system. When she realizes what I am doing in the Naik Dataran, that is when I am positive that I will become a primary target."

The tunnel continued on for quite a ways, but their pace was slow. They were forced to keep their eyes peeled in case they ran into one of the others, but as they continued on, there seemed to be no one around. The pair came upon a branch in the tunnels, though one seemed to be a dead end with a chest at the end of it. Wallace called them to a stop and pointed above. Four sets of glowing eyes were gazing down on them from above. Scuttling from behind seemed to startle the owners of the eyes, and with a myriad of flapping, two bats descended from the ceiling, hovering in the middle of the path. The scuttling belonged to two more crabs, most likely stragglers from the last group. They were surrounded this time, with only the small branched path as their only avenue of escape...except it led to nowhere but the chest.

"I believe we are to be fighting our way out of another sticky situation," Wallace put simply, withdrawing his blade. That's when something caught his eye. One of the bats had a pendant in its claws, a silver chain with a beautiful, glistening locket at the end of it. It looked new, but that was impossible. The caverns were inaccessible completely except from under the sea. "Miss Nanami, does that locket look familiar to you at all?" he asked the woman, thinking it might have belonged to one of her companions.

Chapter 02-B: Navigation

Objective: Fend off the enemies while discovering the mystery of the locket!

Auza looked around the cavern, her eyes locating the creatures around them easily. She spotted the remains of a person, just a skeleton, with some inscriptions in the stone wall above its head. A chest in the far corner of the cavern sat some distance away. It looked fairly old and weathered down. A simple touch might turn it to dust.

Auza's eyes returned to Wallace, following his gaze to one of the strange bats. That locket...she didn't recall anyone she knew holding onto such a thing. Looking through her memories, Auza confirmed her suspicions. Or at least, found that she didn't know whose locket that was. She shook her head for Wallace. "None of my allies carried a locket on them, at least that I know of. Nonetheless, I am curious to see what it might be," Auza said. She was genuinely curious about the locket, but also with the skeleton and the chest. Perhaps after dispatching the creatures they would have a better look at the points of interest.

Wallace seemed to frown slightly at Auza's answer. "I am sorry to here that. I was hoping it would be a clue that could possibly lead us to your companions, but it seems that is not so," he said, his gaze steeling now and focusing on the enemies, particularly the one holding the odd locket. There was some sort of magic around it; he could feel it. He wondered if Auza could too, especially since she seemed particularly adept at the craft. "There is something more here than meets the eye." Wallace plunged his sword into the floor and opened a vortex. "Let us start by getting that locket back. I know just the demon for the task."

A tiny imp-like demon shot upwards out of the portal and into the air, performing somersaults in midair while cackling like a madman. He paused for just a brief moment to survey the flying bats and slow crabs. They were perfect targets for his confusing mischief. Wallace noticed the demon's glee, and he would be allowed to do his work undeterred, but he had a task to complete first. "Insanity." The terse word seemed to radiate authority and the demon calmed for a few seconds, blinking bewildered down at Wallace. "Wreak all the havoc you want, but get the locket first," he ordered, designating the target. Insanity seemed captivated by the gleam of the object and licked his lips with a forked tongue. His little wings beat quickly as he prepared for his master theft.

Wallace waits.

She didn't like those bats. Auza sensed that their capabilities would prove to be troublesome if Auza didn't do something to protect them. But what? Disable them? She could only do that to one at a time. It wasn't anything restorative or debilitating, so her draining and regenerating abilities weren't it. Perhaps an immunity to disease and physical debuffs? Yes, that seemed to be best.

Auza snapped her fingers and the glyph appeared over Wallace's head. Two layers of runes then appeared, slowly circling his body before fading away, leaving nothing but a translucent barrier, hardly visible, but enough to protect him from a lot of things.

Auza casts Bonds of Protection on Wallace! Bestows Immunity!

The monsters had closed in quickly and were already launching a full assault. They were slightly outnumbered and already injured slightly. The familiar feeling of being slammed into by giant crab claws returned to him. He wasn't sure what magic the barrier he gained from Auza possessed because it wasn't demonic magic, but he was sure it would be helpful. Keeping his cool was easy enough. He closed his eyes and raised a hand into the air. Dark matter formed all around the crab in front of him--it was reminiscent of the night sky. Thunder resounded through the area before several bolts of lightning shot out of the darkness in succession leaving the crab heavily electrocuted. Wallace was pleased to see it had a similar effect as it had on the crabs before. Being aquatic creatures, they must have been very fond of electricity.

Insanity uses Trigger Command: Snag on Flap!

Are you shitting?! The bat was making this waaaaay too easy by just waltzing right up to him with locket in claw. The other bat came quickly upon him, however, and it bit him, but he managed to rebound and dodge the second gnawing attempt. Cackling, the demon easily flew under the bat and gently snatched away the locket, dropping it into Wallace's hands. Now that his task was out of the way, it was time for some fun.

His own claws free, Insanity hovered a bit higher in the air and descended badly, digging those very claws deep into the mind of the bat as if it were second nature. With precision, he tried to scramble the creature's thoughts which he figured to be easy...then again, it was hard to scramble the thoughts of something that didn't particularly think a lot. Time forced him to relent his attack and retreat slightly, but still held his position in the air close to the others.

Auza looked at the bat that attacked her out of the corner of her eye and frowned. It was trying to cause bodily harm, no doubt, but her barrier stopped that short. She would only come to bodily harm if the attacks somehow penetrated her barrier, which required quite a lot of power to do, but it wasn't physically possible. These bats wouldn't be able to reach her unless her barrier ran out of energy to sustain itself. Energy that came directly from Auza.

So there was a mental energy loss. Big deal.

Auza slid past Wallace and his demon easily, the gap left between the two more than enough to slide her tiny frame past them to the other side, where a little crab was. How delightful. Auza snapped her fingers and a mist began to surround the crab, accompanied by quite a few glyphs. If she could possess the creature, Auza would sent it after the bat that attacked her.

Auza casts Distortion on Linet! Possesses the target! -34 MP

Wallace raised his sword against the crystals being shot right at him from the crab's back, but he grit his teeth as he felt the bat draw near and take two deep bites aimed right at his arm. The locket was safe, but he was afraid for them all now. They were surrounded and outnumbered. Wallace took a moment despite this thinking the locket could help them in some way, but when he tried to open it, a shock danced across his hand and a plethora of seals, all looking rather similar and built into two layers, appeared all around it. He passed the thing to Auza. "It is sealed shut by some kind of magic. Do you think you could crack it when you get a chance?" It was a rhetorical question. The demonologist knew Auza had a way with seals that was very great; if anyone could do it, she could. "Not now, of course. I seriously suggest we step our game up."

Wallace uses Rage! [Summons Rage to I5]

One demon wasn't going to cut it. They needed to be on equal fighting terms. Four versus four, though he had a feeling it wouldn't be like that for long. Wallace plunged his sword into the ground to open a vortex and allowed for Rage to stomp out of it, walking on his huge burly fists as if they were feet. Seeing everyone in pretty bad condition made him angry. Then again, what didn't? He smashed his fists against the stone ground. He was going to take pleasure and making pay as brutally as he could. Wallace knew this; it was the perfect choice for the moment being. Raw power could help take down the less defensive creatures much more easily. As hurt as he was, he stood his ground knowing full well that he might be making his last stand.

By now, he was very well aware that if Wallace fell, his playtime would be over, and he was NOT about to let that happen. He spun in delight through the air before landing near the weakened crab. Taking out a monocle from nowhere, he put on an air of fancy and inspected the crystals on the crab's back as if he were an expert. Throwing off the charade, he plunged his greedy little claws into the crab's mind, tossing thoughts around like crazy. He had to really scramble it if he didn't want the crab to go after Wallace again. The only thing he could hope for as he cackled, flying back into the air, is that his efforts would be rewarded.

The thing actually managed to resist her mist. Auza was impressed, but that emotion only boiled into anger as she felt more of her barrier leech a large chunk of energy out of her as the beast attacked her. She would have to try something different, something she knew worked. Her hands formed claws and she glared down at the crustacean, her method of casting spells changing now that she was angry. Blood-red glyphs appeared all around the crab, ticking away like a clock. They all stopped, entrapping the crab in time.

Auza casts Glyphs of Motion on Linet! Inflicts Stop!

Auza took the locket away from Wallace and frowned down at it. She didn't see the glyphs appear when Wallace tried to open it, for she didn't look. But she knew that he tried to open it, since he was asking about it now. She too tried to pry it open, not expecting it to work. She merely wanted to see the seals that appeared. A shock ran through her, forcing her hand to withdraw, and the glyphs appeared.

The glyphs looked pretty plain, the usual locking mechanism that discouraged physically opening it. Auza knew how they worked and could cast them herself. This one was a bit trickier though, as it had a double layer of the same magic. Auza pocketed the thing for later.

"It's a very simple seal, I can undo it easily. The tricky part is the double layering of the same spell. Someone went to great lengths hiding whatever is inside this. I should say it is valuable, at least to the person whom this belongs to," Auza said, glaring down at the crab before her. If she couldn't possess it, she would disable it.

Wasting no time, Wallace reached into a pouch hanging from his garments and withdrew a vial of liquid that could be nothing else than a potion. He uncorked the vial and downed the contents in seconds, his face not even protesting the horrible taste. He merely wiped his mouth neatly and placed the empty vial back into his bag to be recycled. "Insanity, continue your havoc. Rage, beat the entirety of these monsters to a pulp. I trust you two have no objections?" he ordered before giving them a quick, wry smile. Insanity looked innocently towards him and shook his head in response. No objections. Rage just growled and waved an enormous hand dismissively. Wallace was pleased and readied his blade once again for combat.

"I knew the seal would stand no match against you," he said to Auza, holding his ground for the time being. "If they did care so much about it, I wonder how on earth it wound up down here."

Wallace waits.


Insanity moves to J6.

There was hardly anything left to confuse. The little imp admired the bat's ability to unleash waves to scramble brains, but he personally liked digging into a creature's mind to screw around with it. Made things more intimate. Hovering over to the stopped crab, he descended quickly and plunged his hands into the thing's mind. It may have been frozen in time now, but when it awoke from the grasp of the magic, it would be in for an astonishing surprise.

Rage moves to L5.

Rage pounded his way over to the most weakened, confused crab and smashed down on its back, crushing some of the crystals before turning it around so he could punch the thing square in the face. A sickening crunch echoed through the cavern, though it caused Rage to merely grunt in affirmation that his toying with this one was over. It was time to find a new victim to pummel into oblivion.

Auza moved away from Wallace and his demons. Now that the creatures were all disoriented, she felt it would be safe to leave them be for a little while. She could still reach them if the need was great, but for now they seemed to be alright. "Perhaps this locket belonged to our friend here," Auza replied gravely, looking over by the skeleton leaning up against the wall. "I'm curious to see what the wall has written upon it, it shouldn't take long. But here," Auza snapped her fingers at Wallace, casting the magic that allowed her to unlock his hidden potential.

Auza casts Seal Release on Wallace! Increases Atk by 30%! Increases CHR by 15%!

"Go on. We have this under control," Wallace affirmed, taking Auza's bolstering magic with great gratitude. He was as eager to find out what the deal was around this place as well. He felt a searing pain in his arm again to realize that one of the bats had come to its senses and was back fighting. He had to get an attack in and let his demons move to the front so they could handle things while he recuperated. A thin slash in the shape of a crescent moon. It was a precise strike, but it was still possible to evade with the bat's skilled aerial evasion. Satisfied with what he could do for now, he jet backwards, channeling his mana in order to activate the attacks true effect, for it seemed just too simple...

"Guys, march forward. I've got to recover," he ordered his demons. They knew the agreement. Dead Wallace meant back to the vortex with them, and they liked getting out and about every once in a while. Better not waste the chance.

Wallace moves to K5.


Insanity moves to G6.

Shrieking like a happily insane banchee, Insanity flew towards the bat that had dared overcome confusion. The chaotic demon poked the bat in the stomach a few times, but before the bat could bite him, Insanity slipped behind it and thrust a hand out to reach into the bat's mind, wiggling his fingers around to screw up the bat's thoughts. Pulling out, he spun through the air, still cackling as if something unbelievably hilarious had happened.


Rage moves to I5.

Rage turned around looking for new targets. Wallace was kind enough to suggest the ones he was forced to retreat from for the time being which was fine with him. He loved to pummel. The demon didn't make it far before stopping right next to the crab frozen in time. Knowing there was no way for it to block his blows or get out of the way, Rage salivated on the floor before pulling back a single fist and slamming it right into the creature like it didn't hurt him at all. Taking the other fist, he slammed it down on the crystals on the crab's back, shattering some of them with his sheer might.

Rage attacks Linet! 2 hits! 48 Dmg per hit! (ATK)

Auza paused for only a second, looking back to where Wallace was. He was retreating, yes, but the demons he summoned were covering him for now. There wasn't much Auza could do at this point unless she traveled back to seal the creatures one by one. She shook her head gently, turning her attention back to the skeleton.

Auza moves to F-8

As soon as she was close enough, Auza peered at the inscriptions written on the cavern wall, trying to make sense of them. There was plenty of light for her to see the writing.

Auza activates Trigger Command: Read The Inscription.

The inscription on the wall above the skeleton reads:

The end of the line...lost everything. I let her have the diary...I have to scratch on the walls with crystals to stay sane...but no more. I'm at the end. My locket...it's gone. I looked in the chest where I put it but it wasn't there. My last hope...gone. I'll perish now...alone.

A solemn cold air can be felt around the skeleton. It's somewhat unnerving, but nothing happens.

Taking out another vial, Wallace downed the second potion calmly and took in its restorative effects gratefully. The monsters were very self-defeating. The group had started off on a rough foot, but now that Auza was investigating, he was recovering, and his demons were dishing out the hurt, it seemed everything would turn out just fine. "I shall be rejoining you guys very soon," he informed his demons, readying his blade to show that he was still full of fight which he honestly was, even after being bitten and bashed and shot at with crystals the whole time. A small smirk played across his lips and disappeared in a flash. At the end of the day, he could always say that he had experienced much, much worse. It was best to just put simply that trying to earn a demon's respect wasn't always just fun and games.

"Insanity, take out the frozen one. Don't want the confusion to break on the other one right?" he said convincingly. "Rage, you can continue with your crab cracking." He was met with a grunt of affirmation as he watched Rage salivate some more on the already wet tunnel floor. Perhaps he should keep a towel on him for times like these?

Wallace waits.

Ooooh, how Wallace was so right. To take back what he so deigned to give to living beings? A torrent of confusion? No. There was no way he could break it after working hard to inflict it. A huge grin spread across his little face and he began raking away at the ice statue of a bat instead. It had fallen to the ground, so he had to dive to get his claws on it. He scraped at the ice for a bit before looking at the deep scratches he made in the ice, mesmerized.

Insanity waits.


Rage attacks Linet! 2 hits! 48 Dmg per hit! (ATK)

That was it. He wanted to eat this crab. It had been a while since he had anything to eat. He was taking this thing with him when he left. Two more punches landed right in the things legs, easily breaking them. It would definitely be a pain for it to run away now. He grinned revealing his fangs and imagined sinking them into the crab meat, savoring the salty goodness. However, anger arose quickly as he realized the thing was not dying fast enough. Beelzebub wouldn't want Rage to steal his thing anyway. Only he would be motivated by gluttony. Anger was Rage's thing, and boy was he angry now.

Rage waits.

Auza frowned, staring at the writing on the wall. After reading it a third time, she couldn't gather any useful information from it other than a diary and the locket. The only thing she got were more questions. The locket belonged to the now-deceased man lying in front of her? That's what the text suggested. But who was this 'her' person that has some sort of diary, also belonging to this man? Or maybe the diary is something else? Auza shook her head, it was no use trying to figure it out now. She had a feeling she was on the right track though.

"Wallace, looks like the locket really did belong to our little friend here," Auza called, careful not to have her voice echo, but still loud enough for Wallace to hear her clearly. They seemed to be handling the creatures rather well, though Wallace had to down another potion. It wasn't much of an issue, really. Although, her magic did wear out on one of the creatures that Rage was attacking. Auza remembered how little hits the demon could actually take. Was it worth going back to try and help out? Probably.

Wallace moves to J6.

Finally able to catch his breath, Wallace rushed the crab that dared to assault his demon. The thing had managed to break free of Auza's spell and resist a second one, so now it was definitely back for some revenge. Wallace commanded his blade skillfully into one of the cracked regions that Rage had created, breaching the crustacean's normally hard defenses, but the second swing clipped one of the crystals upon its back for less damage. Regardless, his power was still immense for the moment. By the looks of things, their task was almost complete. He turned his attention to Auza, though kept a keen eye on his enemy. "I see. Then perhaps he cast the seal on the locket himself? If he possessed the magic, you would have thought that he would use a seal that would prevent anyone from touching it but him." Wallace stroked his smooth chin for but a moment before coming up at the same conclusion as Auza had. "We're still missing a lot of the story."

Wallace quickly shot a glance at Insanity. "Insanity, you know what to do about that one," he reminded the little imp-like demon, just in case the fun of the battle caused his mind to go into disarray. It had happened in the past, so he had to make sure to keep the thing in check at least sometimes. "Perhaps we'll find out more as we go along," he said, readdressing Auza.

Insanity moves to G4.

No fun. The monster he had been clawing at succumbed to Wallace's illusion attack. Another bat was nearby, however, and it seemed to snap free of what had snagged its mind into confusion, and that simply would not do. Insanity shook his head disapprovingly before flying right over to correct the problem, sinking his claws into the bat's mind.

Rage attacks Linet! 2 hits! 48 Dmg per hit! (ATK)

Rage was glad to have Wallace around, but angry that he hadn't come sooner. He was hungry for crab and now it the creature would fall before their combined might. Rage leaped into the air and clasped both fists together quickly before descending with a mighty slam onto the crab's back, forcing it to smash into the ground in turn. Rage turned quickly for a speedy, yet extremely powerful punch to the legs. The sound of more cracking filled the air. This thing was not going to recover. Butter sauce now, please.

Auza shook her head in response to Wallace. "No, seals that prevent people other than the caster from touching objects fades when the caster dies, unless he passes ownership before death. From the looks of things, he didn't have very many people to share this with, and didn't want to lose it in the first place." Auze snapped her fingers twice, not really focusing on the crustacean Wallace and Rage were attacking, and two needle like projections shot into the crab's spirit.

Auza attacks Linet! 20 Int DMG! 2 hits! Chance of Silence!

Auza looked back towards the old chest on the far end of the field. With a quick nod to Wallace, "I'm going to go and see what that chest back there holds. On my way there, I'll take a look at this locket."

Wallace nodded to Auza who was off to examine the chest. He was curious about the seals, learning that their magic would fade with the life of the one who sealed it, at least a seal keeping anyone from touching the object. "Very well. We will work on disposing of this last annoyance so that we can investigate more efficiently," he spoke, but when he analyzed the positions of his demons along with that of the enemy, he realized there was no point in trying to get close just yet. Rage would surely wish to pound down that bat, though he hoped the weakened Insanity would have enough sense to retreat. A white, ethereal glow began to surround Wallace's form. His body curled into a ball as it hovered in air, the white light--almost like moonlight--closing around him to form a sphere. Sprinkles of it surged inwards, penetrating his body from all directions. Wallace's eyes were closed; he looked at peace, not the usual indifference and unreadable expression, but like he had not a single care in the world. The sphere with Wallace in it oscillated just very slightly, and nothing more.

Wallace waits.


Insanity attacks Flap! 2 hits! 18 Dmg per hit! (ATK)

Baaah. There was no point in confusing the thing now that Rage was surely going to come over and get his freak on with the bat. The imp quickly dived in twice for quick slashes with his tiny claws before retreating back, trying to get to where Wallace was while Rage took over dishing out the beating.

Insanity moves to K5.

Rage attacks Flap! 2 hits! 48 Dmg per hit! (ATK)

Rage kept an eye on the body of the crab for a short while before he realized it wasn't going anywhere. Giving off an affirming grunt, he ducked slightly as Insanity flew overhead, and he himself positioned his form next to the flying bat. Balancing expertly on one arm, he waved his free arm in the air, smacking the bat heavily whenever he could. His aim wasn't perfect with such an attack as this, but if even once he managed to hit it, he knew it would be worth it knowing his strength.

Keeping close to one side of the wall, Auza pulled out the locket that Wallace's demon snatched away from the bat. She tested the locket with her own magic, bringing forward the glyphs upon it in order to examine it properly. Nothing had changed, she was right about the type of seal upon the locket.

Auza held the locket on her palm, wrapping her beads around her wrist to protect herself in case other magic was tied to the thing. The beads would absorb the shock the same way her barrier would, but as the locket was on her person, the barrier didn't affect it. Content with her preparations, Auza began undoing the seal.

Auza initiates Trigger Command: Release!

Unable to do anything for the time being, Wallace decided to think about what was happening down here. Was it just a coincidence that Resona made her home here? No. That couldn't be it. She most likely wouldn't have anything to do with the happenings with the locket. It looked so new, but he could feel the antiquity radiating from it. How could something so new belong to someone so...skeletal? He took into consideration the malevolence he had been feeling from these caverns. This magic and these feelings have nothing to do with demons, but it is definitely something paranormal, he concluded, having a pretty keen insight into the occult despite not being an occultist, though some considered demonologists to be a subset of occults since demons were, in fact, part of the occult. There's almost...trepidation. To continue on seems like such a bad idea for some reason. There must be an entity that is the source of this feeling. In due time, we shall discover what it is. I can feel it.

The light sphere around him stopped feeding him the particles and began to waver. Slowly, Wallace descended, standing up straight and letting his feet softly touch the floor. He gave a relieved nod to Insanity who was hanging back for the moment while Rage handled the bat which didn't seem to give him too much trouble. If need be, he kept himself ready to rush in for the kill. Rage would probably want to get back to his crab supper, for he knew that hungry look in the demon's eyes all too well.


Insanity waits.

Insanity grabbed his pointed toes with his claws and started doing backflips in place, never moving anywhere. He seemed to just roll and roll and roll, yet went nowhere. Until he got dizzy. His touch broke with his feet and he spiraled down slowly to the ground, his eyes spinning about, a cackle struggling to get out of his mouth.

Keeping his balance steady, Rage waved around his huge meaty hand again, trying to slam it into the evasive bat, though it was proving that it could use a touch of work on those aerial maneuvers, for his last strikes landed dead on. He couldn't keep his balance after the attack and returned to standing on two fists. He shot Wallace a glance; he was up and about again, most likely recharged with a bit of mana. Loser. Rage became infuriated that Wallace was taking his time in recovering. It was ridiculous and unnecessary. A fierce growl escaped Rage's mouth. With new anger fueling him, he prepared to take it out on the bat a final time.

Rage waits.

Standing in place for a bit longer, Auza concentrated on the locket, releasing the seals in a key-like manner, instead of just breaking through. It was much safer this way. Magic had a tendency to be unpredictable, even in the best circumstances. Auza once heard of a wizard that accidentally turned himself into a toad due to some nearby elements fiddling with his magic. It was a rather funny story to remember at a time like this.

Auza found that the lock was nearly complete, only a little further and she would be able to open it. On top of that, she was nearing the chest, which was directly in front of her now.
