The Days of Our Lives

The Days of Our Lives
It all began an a small, single instant. And yet, it was enough to shake our very lives. I sometimes wondered what would have happened if that instant hadn't happened. But I never really got anywhere with that thought so I stopped thinking about it. The past was the past. It wasn't something I could change.
Even. I was happy. I am happy. Just being with everyone. Even if some of them are kind of a pain sometimes. They mean well. Maybe. Okay, so I'm having some doubts about them. But I do trust them.
"What are you doing?" a voice right next to my ear whispered. My eyes snapped open wide and I, literally, froze in my seat, pencil slipping from my grasp. There was a moment of silence before I turned hot red and nearly scrambled onto my desk as I spun around to face the intruder.
"D-Don't do that, Mizu!" I nearly shrieked, my heart beating a mile a minute. Mizu stared at me strangely, no doubt thinking I was going crazy. She then had the audacity to smile at me! Slowly settling myself back in my spinning chair, I watched her cautiously. "Is there something you need?"
"Nope!" she chirped, still smiling. I twitched, trying to scoot back but my chair was already as far back as it could go. "I just wanted to let you know I'm going to be going out today with Violet, Kasai and big brother. You always did tell us to inform you if we were going anywhere." I mentally groaned.
"You know I don't like it when any of you guys barge into my room," I whined shamelessly. Mizu just huffed, placing her hands on her hips and pouted.
"But Amaya does it all the time," she said, pointing at said girl who was now phasing through my wall. Amaya gave us both a blank stare before she floated over to me. There, she just hovered, eyes now on Mizu.
"That's because she's not annoying," I mumbled darkly under my breath.
"What was that?"
"Nothing!" I hurriedly replied, saying it almost before she even finished her question. Mizu giggled at me, patting me on the head like I was a child. I rolled my eyes but inwardly, I warmed at the gesture.
"Well the, try not to stay holed up in here," she said to me, pulling back. "We'll be back as soon as possible so don't worry, okay?" She began to walk backwards toward the door, waving as she did so. "Be good little children now!"
"I'm not a kid!" I snapped at her. She just laughed and disappeared down the hall, slamming the door close behind her. I winced at the loud noise, eyes locked on the door. For a moment, I just stared at it. I then turned my attention to Amaya, who had been silently hovering beside me the entire time.
"Hello," she greeted me with her usual monotonous voice. I gave her a soft smile.
"Hello, Amaya," I greeted back softly, spinning my chair so I was now facing her. "What would you like to talk about today?" Amaya tilted her head, eyes blank as she thought. It was a daily routine of ours. We couldn't leave this house after all. This was our haven, our heaven. Our prison and our hell. "Would you rather hear a story instead?"
"I. . . ." Amaya trailed off, having nothing to say. My smile disappeared. Amaya could never think on her own. I reached out a hand, placing it gently where her cheek should have been. Instead, I touched nothing. No soft skin, no heat. Just air. But I held my hand there as if I was really touching her.
"Let's make a story of our own," I suggested, my smile reappearing. Amaya stared at me before she slowly nodded her head. I smiled a little wider and spun my chair so I was facing my desk again, picking up my pencil.
And that's what we did.

Re: The Days of Our Lives
Mornings were supposed to be nice. Mornings were supposed to be peaceful.
Our mornings, never were.
"Has anyone seen my journal?!"
"Hell no! What, why the fuck are you keeping a journal?"
"It's to keep track of things!"
"Bullshit! I know exactly what type of person you are! I bet all you have in there is porn!"
"No, I don't! They're just secretly taken pictures of Richard while he's in the shower or undressing or- . . . . . Uh. . . ."
". . . . . What the fuck is wrong with you!?"
"These are some pretty good pictures," I commented as I flipped through Syfen's 'journal', seated comfortably in my usual spinning chair. Richard, who was sitting on my bed just gave despairing groan, burying his face in his hands. I ignored him, continuing to flip through the pages. "Hey, he even has that time you were drunk and coaxed into wearing a wedding dress."
"Don't remind me," was the reply, voice muffled by his hands. I laughed, a bit sadly. I hadn't been able to see it for myself but Mizu had told me all about it, even going so far as to try and act it out. Richard glared at me from between his fingers before he removed his hands, frowning. "How'd you get that, anyway?"
"This?" I raised the 'journal' slightly, not really expecting him to answer. It was a rhetorical question anyway. "Syfen left this here when he came over to visit. You want it?" I tilted the book his way but Richard just raised a hand, eyes closed.
"No. Keep it," he mumbled and I frowned. Closing the book, I stared at the man, eyes unblinking. Feeling my stare, Richard opened his eyes, staring right back. After a moment, he frowned at me. "What?"
"Nothing," I said after a moment, smiling. He just gave me a suspicious look. My smile grew before disappearing and I gave him a curious look. "Why are you here, anyway? You don't usually come in here." Richard huffed, eyes glancing off to the side. I raised an eyebrow. He sighed.
"You're the only normal one around here," he admitted, sitting up straight. "And it's. . . . comforting. To be in your presence sometimes." Hearing these words, I instantly slapped a hand over my mouth, trying hard not to giggle. But I was unable to hold it all in and a small squeak escaped me. Richard sent me a dirty look. "I can leave."
"N-No!" I choked, removing my hand from my mouth. Though I had stifled the giggles, I couldn't hold back my wide smile. "I'm glad you came to visit. Really, I am! You know I'm not allowed out and I can't see any of you unless you yourselves visit." I clasped my hands in my lap, twiddling my thumbs as I slowly stared off at something to the side. "Even. I worry. And. . . . it gets lonely, you know."
A bitter smile forced its way on my face and I stubbornly refused to look at Richard. "Luna and you are the ones I worry about most, you know. You two are always going out for long periods of time, hardly ever coming to visit and who knows what sorts of troubles you two get into. Not to mention Luna is a bit like Ryas and . . . . ." I trailed off for a moment, sounding wistful. "I just worry."
"And that's all you can do," Richard murmured, almost too low for me to hear. I said nothing and gave him no indication I heard him. I did hear him stand, though and knew he was going to leave. They never stayed longer then a few minutes. Hearing the door close, I breathed in deeply before letting it all out. Leaning back in my chair, I stared at the ceiling.

Re: The Days of Our Lives
"So. How many times does this make it?" my cousin asked casually as she took a seat on the same couch I was seated in. I shrugged, too busy making KOS-MOS shoot the crap out of the Gnosis. I could hear her sighing and knew, without looking, she was rolling her eyes. She was so predictable.
"I don't know how you can just keep playing the same game over and over again," she continued in exasperation. "Also, when are you going to let me play? I still haven't even beaten Final Fantasy X yet!"
"Hey, at least when I play the second game, you'll be able to watch the cutscenes," I shot back, eyes still glued to the screen. I swore as the Gnosis nearly took out MOMO but her evasion saved her. Thank god she had high evasion.
"Your brain's going to melt," a new, deep voice sounded. I blinked, having never heard the voice before. Looking away from the TV, I was just about to make chaos Lunar Seal the Gnosis' ass too, I turned to the speaker. My cousin was also looking at the speaker with a raised eyebrow.
"Too late, my brain's already melted from all the Xenosaga overload," I said, humming.
"Shouldn't you be busy, Noon?" my cousin asked the male. I blinked, squinting slightly. Seemed Noon had grown his hair out the last time I saw him. "You know, with Dawn or Midnight or Dusk."
"Break," was all he said. This time, I raised an eyebrow too.
"And you're spending it with us?" I asked, disbelief clear in my voice. Noon shrugged.
"Just wanted to check what you two were up to," he replied, voice toneless. "You two are usually like Dusk when you get together. It's always best to keep an eye on you two." Both my cousin and I shared a grin.
"We'll be good," my cousin promised sweetly. I could totally see her fingers crossed though. "Real good."
"Perfect little angels," I added, giving my own fake, sweet smile.
Noon just turned away and walked out of the room. Once he had left and the door had shut, I looked at my cousin. She stared back, a mischievous look in her eyes. My grin widened and I leaned forward.
"I just had the most awesomeest idea ever. . . . . ."

Re: The Days of Our Lives
Ryas was mad. It was totally obvious, what with the blazing aura around her and-Ouch!
"What was that for?!" I demanded, sniffling as I clutched the sudden lump on my head. "My braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain ceeeeeeeeeeeeells."
"Like you fucking had any in the first place!" Ryas snapped, looking murderous. She had in her hand the Super Ultima, Deadly Paper Fan of Doom. Or SUDPD for short. No, wait. Let's stick with the original.
Crap, she's glaring. Alright, gotta pay attention.
"It totally wasn't me!" I cried, whimpering as the glare intensified. "I admit to nothing! Nothing!-Ow!"
"That's like admitting to everything!" Ryas shouted and I wailed, curling up in a fetal position. "What the hell, be a man already!"
"But I'm a-"
"Man!"
"I'm sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry!"

Re: The Days of Our Lives
"I think I'm sick."
Letting out a loud and frustrated sound, Rai snapped her book shut and turned in her chair to look at me. She then smiled and I sunk back in my bed. Uh oh.
"Do you realize this is the fifteenth time you've said that today?" she stated, voice soft, icy and even. I slowly shook my head. "Well, it is. And I am slowly becoming irritated. Please. Stop it."
"I'm sorry," I mumbled, wrapping my covers around me. "I just don't feel right these days. I don't get why."
"I understand," she said, the smile turning more genuine. "Your mood's been affecting all of us. Maybe you are getting sick. But for now, just do what you always do."
". . . . . . . Play Xenosaga?"
Rai laughed, then sighed and looked at me with warm eyes. "What are we ever going to do with you?"
". . . . . . Buy Tales of the Abyss for me? Ow!"

Re: The Days of Our Lives
Ugh. Can't. Think.
I slumped over my desk, tears gathering at the corner of my eyes. Why couldn't I do it?! I always have ideas but I can never bring them to life! And just this once, I was so sure I had something really cool. . . . . . . I sniffled. Damn my right hemisphere. Or was it the left? No. No, no, no. It was definitely the right. Yes, the right.
No! I slammed my forehead against the desk. Stop thinking about other things! Concentrate, at the task at hand.
"Um, are you okay?"
I screamed.
"Ohmygodohymgodohmygod," I blurted out, clutching my heart as if I had a heart attack. There was a soft chuckle and I spun around to see Lai Ying stifling a laugh. I stared at him for a moment before launching myself at him in full blown tears.
"Hey, get the hell off of him!" I could hear Edge's voice shout but I ignored it, burying my face into Lai Ying's chest. "I mean it, I'll-!"
"It's alright, Edge," Lai Ying soothed and I knew the fake brunet would shut his mouth for the next hour or so. I cackled in my mind. "What's wrong?" I slowly pulled away, still fake crying.
"I. . . . I. . . ." I hiccuped, my hands to my face. "I want to. . . to do a roleplay for you guys. . . . but, but, but." I sniffled. "I can't bring myself to type it up!" I wailed, throwing myself back all over Lai Ying. I could just see Edge gritting her teeth.
"Hey, it's okay," Lai Ying said softly. I smiled into his shirt. He had the softest and most reassuring voice I had ever heard. It made me all warm and fuzzy inside. "Just do your best. Don't rush it. I'm sure it'll come to you eventually."
"Yeah, now get off of him!" Edge finally snapped and I was forcefully tugged away from the pretty man I was hugging. Instantly, my tears were gone and I glared at the fake brunet. Edge just glared back.
"Why don't you stay out of this, blondie?" I snapped, irritated.
"I am not a blond!" Edge snapped back. "It's black, damn it!"
"Yeah right. That's why you have three bottles of black hair dye in your room."
"That's. . . ."
"What, no comeback blondie?"
"I'm not blond, damn it!"
"Whatever you say, ninja wannabe."
"Hey, I am totally going to become a ninja one day! You just watch."
"Yeah, I'm watching. I still see you though."
"Wha. . . . ? Hey, Lai Ying!" Edge snapped his head toward where the feminine male was. "Help me out here, will ya? . . . . Lai Ying?" We both stared at the spot the blue haired male had been in. He wasn't there.
"Now that," I began, sounding a little too pleased with myself. "Is a ninja." I smirked, looking at Edge. "Can you do that?" The fake brunet just growled something inaudible and, dropping me to the floor, left my room. Presumably in search of Lai Ying.
I laughed. Insanely.

Re: The Days of Our Lives
Being alone. . . . . was tiresome.
Sighing, loudly, I stared dully at the ceiling of my room. I slowly closed my eyes, not even caring about the uncomfortable positioning I was in. It didn't matter anyway. I felt. . . . numb.
"And here we go, up and on," I slowly began to sing, eyes opening to slits. "Onward and forward, side by side." I paused, trying in vain to think up of more words. "Hands held tight." I stopped, gently exhaling. And then, I took a breath. "Raise our heads high up toward the endless sea above us."
"So long, so forth, go with your instincts, what could go wrong here and now? Beside you here on this lonely land. this grassy field. This dead home of ours that no longer exists here for us now. Alone we are, side by side. Not alone yet so alone here in this dark damp dying world of ours."
"What do you see? What do I see? Behind these glass doors, what will we see? Our eyes, our vision, what is real and what is wrong and what the right thing is I don't know. What do you know? What do I know? What goes on in these minds of ours. Our wonderland no longer exists. It died long ago right beneath our feet."
And then, I stopped. No more words came to mind, though I would surely think of more as time passed. Now silent, I sat up and my shoulders slumped as I sighed again. My hands fell into my lap and I stared down at them. I've been so tired lately, I don't think it's a good thing. Not to mention my headaches. Flinching, I slowly curled up onto my chair. Sleep sounded nice. Having nothing else to do, I closed my eyes.
I was tired. So, very tired.
---
"Why do I get the feeling that girl's dying up there?" Ryas snapped irritably, arms and legs crossed as she glared up at the ceiling in her seat.
"Again?" Mizu, or Michelle as she now went by, inquired, blinking curiously.
"A-again?" Myuu repeated in a slight stutter, furrowing his eyebrows. He stared at the blue haired girl in confusion. "Wha. . . . . What do you mean 'again'?" Michelle pursed her lips, putting on a thinking pose. She was trying to find the best way to phrase her answer. "It's not something bad. . . right?"
"Not bad per say. . . ." Michelle murmured, frowning. "Just. . . . Well, in a way, it could be good."
"Dying. Is not 'good'," Ryas spat, glaring at the girl. The look on her face clearly said 'This girl is an idiot'. Michelle just giggled, smiling.
"Oh, silly Ryas," she chirped, waving a hand at the Witch. "I've been with her for much longer than all of you. I was one of the firsts." Turning back to the rest of the group, she tapped her chin. "You know how she usually has problems writing? Well, when she becomes like this, her words seem to flow better. She's able to write like it's nothing. Though." She frowned again and looked over the many members that were gathered. "It usually means she comes up with new characters."
"Oh, you have got to be shitting me," Evan grumbled, shoulders slumping. "This place is crowded enough as it is." Rosetta patted her brother on the back comfortingly, sharing his sentiments. "And not everyone is even here!"
"Oh, it's just a phase," Kasai, or Kevin, piped up. He idly twiddled with his thumbs. "It usually goes away after a few days. Though, she becomes a little more. . . . unbearable after." Here, he winced, remembering many unpleasant things from the past. "The effect's permanent too."
"Oh, just what we need," Violet stated dully, slamming her butcher's knife into the wall. Myuu nearly shrieked at the sudden sound that resounded from the action, slapping his hands over his mouth. He stared at the violet haired female with wide eyes filled with fear but the female didn't seem to notice.
"Oh, but she's so much more fun to play with after!" Ruthas protested, laughing loudly.
"Really?!" Amy suddenly spoke, looking incredibly excited. "Does this mean she'll play with me too?!" Ruthas nodded her head enthusiastically and the two girls were suddenly huddled in the corner, whispering furiously to each other. Xu Shin gave them a look before moving away from the corner and moving to sit in a different one.
Ryas resisted the urge to slam her head against the wall. They were all insane.

Re: The Days of Our Lives
It was strange. This. . . . thing. Bending down, Daskar discreetly poked the soft blue blob like thing with a spoon. He had been heading for the dining hall when he encountered this thing. As to why he had his own spoon, it was best not to ask.
The moment his spoon came in contact, the blob jiggled and was that a squeal he heard? Curious, he did it again. Again, he heard a squeal. A dark light entered his eyes. This was quite entertaining. Unable to stop himself, he began to repeatedly poke the strange creature, delighting in the random squeals and giggles that emitted from it.
"What are you doing. . . . ?"
Just about to stab his spoon into the blob once more, Daskar froze at the voice. Slowly, he turned his head to look at the person. Evan stood behind him, an eyebrow raised. The silver haired male looked from the blob to the human before slowly, he raised his spoon. Evan rolled his eyes.
"I don't know what that thing is but stop bothering it," the human snapped, looking irritated. "Next thing you know, it blows up and you're going to be all covered in some undefinable gloop." He paused, furrowing his eyebrows, and mumbled. "Which means I'll be covered in it too just by standing here." He grimaced, not liking that thought. "For fear of my life, I'm leaving."
And without another word, the human continued on his way toward the dining hall. Daskar watched him go for a moment before looking back down at the blob. Large black oval shaped eyes stared back at him. The blue blob began to make strange noises that seemed like words and Daskar, as if understanding what was being said, nodded. And then, he poked it.
It giggled.
"Isn't he cute!?"
Daskar blinked and in that moment, something flew past him and effectively glomped the blob. Confused, he blinked again and was able to identify the attacker as Ruthas. Well, this was unexpected. And a little strange. It seemed more like she was hugging some sort of rubber object filled with water.
"He just joined us last week, you know," Ruthas informed, smiling brightly at the other. Daskar stared. "He was so shy in the beginning, he wouldn't even leave his room! Amy and I were so worried that he would stay in there forever so we visited him any time we could. Oh, oh, oh, guess we named him?!" Here, Ruthas grinned wide enough that it could have split her face in half. "We named him Bob!"
"That is the worst name I have ever heard of," a voice that could only be Ryas' said. The two looked and sure enough, the Witch stood with her arms crossed and eyes narrowed. "And move it, you're blocking the hall."
"No, we're not," Ruthas stated, staring at the woman with unblinking eyes. "And Bob is a great name." The blob made a noise, causing Ruthas to frown. "Look! You offended him by saying that. Apologize!"
"No thanks," Ryas declined immediately, rolling her eyes. "And shouldn't it be 'it'? Well, whatever." She shrugged her shoulders in a nonchalant fashion. "Just hurry it up. You know we can't eat until everyone's together."
"Oh yeah," the dual haired girl hummed cheerfully. Letting go of the blob, she smiled at it. "Come on, Bob. Let's go introduce you to everyone!" The blob let out a squeal of agreement and the two began to make their way down the corridor. Ryas and Daskar watched them with unreadable looks.
"You know, for a dead guy who lost all his memories, you're more normal than all the humans here," Ryas stated stiffly. Daskar stood and turned to her with an expression similar to surprise. Ryas waved it off. "Come on, let's go."
