Suddenly, the void space began shaking violently and it felt like the whole place was about to collapse. Chunks of colored walls and ceiling fell to reveal darkness...only darkness. The trio was left to cower and wonder if this was the last of their travels. The darkness swallowed all of them and for the longest time, there was nothing but silence.

Marya awoke suddenly, her hand instantly covering her throat, only to find that there was no cut there....or any trace of one, for that matter. She was really dizzy and her bottom hurt. She managed to stumble up and went to rub her butt, only to feel something fuzzy behind her. Her eyes widened when she grasped the fuzzy thing and ran her hand along it until she realized that her hand had hit her back. The fuzzy thing was attached to her. She dared to take a glance behind her and nearly fainted when she noticed that a tail was attached to her. She even tested it out by pulling on it, but it would not come off. It was a part of her.

That's when she realized her surroundings. Her eyes saw grass since her gaze ended up focused on the ground, but now that she actually took a look around, the sights of what appeared to be a fair or amusement park rushed into her eyes. Flashing lights and game booths surrounded her and loud carnival music pounded into her ears. That's when she noticed that there was something wrong with her hearing. Well, nothing was "wrong" with it, but it was different. She went to feel her ears only to end up feeling nothing. She moved her hands up a bit and something fuzzy ended up in her hands again. Her eye twitched. Cat ears. Her heart was racing. She didn't know what had happened or where she was? Where were her friends, for that matter?

Authur suddenly found himself in a very bright and loud place. It was filled with crazy sounds and bright sunlight, so bright it hurt to look at. Authur covered his ears and shut his eyes. God, it was so damn loud! Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain like someone had just punched him in the gut, causing him to drop to his knees. Authur's throat burned like he hadn't drank anything for weeks. He got a dizzy sensation and he felt his forehead hit something.

He opened his eyes slightly to see the ground a couple inches from his face. His mouth was so dry. Authur sucked in a dry gasp and a low moan emanated from him. Why did he feel like this? What the hell was happening? What the hell happened?

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" a rather comical female voice spoke from seemingly nowhere. A creeping cold settled over the area around Marya as something rose from her shadow. It was a strange girl dressed in the billowy, grey performer's outfit. Her skin was as dark as the shadow from which she had emerged and her eyes were a golden honey color. Her hair was dark and seemed more like misty tendrils. When she breathed, her breath could be seen in small clouds as if it were in the dead of winter.

Marya jumped suddenly and did a couple of frontflips away from the girl. "W-who are you?!" she shouted, though her voice was drowned out by the noise.

"I should be asking you that question, girlie," she replied maliciously. "I've never seen you around here before. Where are you from?" Two violet and black chakram appeared, one in each of the girl's hands.

Marya shivered in fear. "A-Authur!! Vendetta!! Where are you?! I need you.....," she called out over the noise desperately.

Authur heard Marya shout for him and Vendetta, and he tried to rasp out a reply. His throat was so dry. He needed something, anything, to drink. Now. He struggled to haul himself to his feet but couldn't, he simply didn't have the strength. So he contented to crawl with his hands, inching himself forward. It was no use. He flopped on the dirt, expelling a breath and making some dust float away with the lost air.

A calm wind blew to him, gentle and cool. All of a sudden, it hit him. The smell, the scent. It smelled so inviting, so infuriatingly satisfying. It was close. It made him see red. His mouth suddenly dripped with drool as he found himself on his feet, running. The smell itself was enough to strengthen him. Why was it so powerful? He could see Marya and someone else . . . the smell. It was so powerful, stronger the closer he got. It filled his mind. All encompassing.

A yearning deep in the pit of his stomach swam up to his throat. "Maarrrr . . . Maarryaaa . . . " It was a growl. Authur didn't care that it sounded nothing like him, it felt natural. He let it roll around in his mouth. He liked the sound of it.

"Maaryaaa."

A foot suddenly came out of nowhere and crushed down on Authur's back. "Where are you going in such a hurry?" an excruciatingly long and drawn out voice said miserably. "You're making me exhausted just looking at you." This new arrival was also dressed in the garments of a performer, and, like the girl, his skin was strangely dark like the shadows, his eyes the same golden honey color, and his hair about shoulder length and jet black. With a snap of his fingers, a few booths slammed together forming a barricade between Authur and Marya. "I'm sorry, but strangers aren't treated so great around here, especially suspicious strangers like you and the two girls." His sentence seemed to draw out for an eternity.

"Don't scream now, girlie," the shadowy girl said. "I just want to get to know you a bit better," she added and grinned, twirling one chakram around and around.

Marya shook her head and entered an awkward fighting stance as she had done in the void. "I-I won't let you hurt me!" she shouted and looked at the mess of booths that had crashed into each other suddenly. She had heard Authur from over there. His voice had sounded a bit different; it actually sounded more like a savage beast, but she had to worry about herself first.

As the booths dropped, Authur was aware of the scent, much stronger in its close proximity. There was a pressure on his neck. It took him a second to remember what had happened through the red haze. He jerked his elbow up swiftly into the back of the offender's knee, letting the pressure up enough for Authur to roll out from underneath and hop lightly to his feet. He stared unblinkingly at the dark performer.

He sucked in a deep breath. The effect was staggering. It was almost like . . . foreplay. It felt really good. Authur smiled, exposing long, sharp fangs.

"You'll do."

Marya stood her ground, but didn't dare get any closer to the dangerous girl. Whatever she was, she looked powerful. So, to prepare, Marya closed her eyes and concentrated on her claws. She could feel control reaching its maximum and punched the air a couple of times. The girl was now ready to lay into her enemy.

Authur stood for a moment, then clenched his hands into fists. The retractable blades made a smooth click, causing Authur to glance down at them. 'What are those again?' He held them up to look at.

"Claws. My claws."

He rushed the performer, unleashing a quick fury of cuts and slices.

The strange performer groaned as he was pushed back. "Great. Now I have to walk up to you. Just great," he complained as he slowly approached Authurius. Suddenly, he dealt a vicious slash at Authurius with his sword, landing a hit on the vampire's chest. He waited for what seemed to be quite a while before slashing at Authurius once again only to miss completely.

The chakram hovered and swirled about the girl, and within seconds, they fired lasers at her. Ziryu smiled as she caught her chakram with ease. "It's obvious that I'm the stronger one here, girlie. That ought to be a lesson I'll teach you quickly."

Marya's vision grew blurry as she felt her body being scorched by the lasers. The last thing she saw before she hit the ground was the malevolent smirk upon Ziryu's face.

Authur smirked at his opponent, whose attack hadn't really hurt all that much. Still, the smell of the performer's blood was starting to make him feel light-headed, almost like he was getting a contact high. His hands unclenched, causing the blades to retract, as he suddenly grabbed the performer and bit down, hard, on his arm. His fangs bit through the cloth easily and he punctured the skin, and hot blood surged into his mouth. However, he didn't have a strong enough hold to stay attached to Axelias' arm and was promptly shoved off.

Authur grinned, a small bit of dark blood trickling down his chin.

Authurius stumbled a moment with the blow, then smiled again. "Now that's what I like to . . . well, actually, I can't see. But I can still smell and hear you." If he concentrated, the vampire could swear he could hear Axelias' heartbeat, slightly faster because of the exertion. It was that sound that caused to him to go over the edge and truly give in to the these new senses.

He lunged at the heartbeat, closing in on it and latching on with his sharp teeth. Somewhere in his head, he knew it was the performer's jugular. The vampire pulled Axelias down to the ground and pushed his neck closer to his mouth. The more he drank, the less pain he felt not only from his wounds but the crippling hunger and thirst that had floored him before. It tasted different than he expected as well. It was metallic, like blood was, but there was something else underneath it. It was a bit like dark chocolate. Strange.

It was obvious things weren't going well. The visitors from another dimension were just not used to fighting whereas the strange people of this interesting dimension seemed much more capable of battling as if they did it a lot.

Axelias grinned at the blinded vampire as he noticed his sister appearing from the shadows behind him. He snapped his fingers causing the booths to go back to their normal order. Marya's unconscious body came into view. She lied in the grass, her breathing shallow.

Suddenly, Authur was knocked to the ground from behind. "Well, well, well, Axelias. You couldn't stop this scum?" Ziryu said while laughing, her foot pressing down on Authurius's back to keep him down. Her eyes penetrated her brother's. Though she was kidding, she did think a bit lowly of her brother for his slothfulness and carelessness. When she saw that Axelias was too lazy to answer, Ziryu rolled her eyes and glared down at her victim. "What say you, stranger? Who do you think you are, just waltzing in here like it's okay?"

Authurius growled from the ground. "I didn't choose to be dropped unceremoniously here, I am an unwilling trespasser."

The smell of blood was driving him crazy as he struggled underneath her boot. He kept trying unsuccessfully to simply push up off the ground, or to try and strike a backhanded blow against his oppressor. The vampire gnashed his teeth and hissed.

"Let me up!"

"I think you need to calm down first, pal," Ziryu replied defiantly. "Maybe if you show us you can be a bit more civil than this, I'll let you up. How about that?" She smirked and her brother laughed. Her eyes darted over to where the other girl was. Unfortunately, the neko was beginning to stir from her unconsciousness. Her mind changed quickly. "We'll let you up if you can be calm, for sure, but if you're not, we have collateral." She pointed over to Marya as she said it.


As Vendetta began to get closer to the main festival area, a figure materialized from the shadows nearby. He was rather tall with fairly long black hair and pale skin. His eyes were a dazzling green and were the focal point of his entire being, for his black suit and bland, nearly colorless ring did not aid the dreariness in his look. Quickly, he approached Vendetta and held out a hand, his long, slender fingers awaiting a shake. "Well, hello there," he said kindly and gave her a smile. "You seem a little lost. Are you from around here?" He tilted his head slightly in curiosity, hoping to make the girl feel a bit more at ease.
