She felt like shit. But she had to fight anyway, this ability would not last forever. As the sniper of the team, it was Lily's job to do heavy damage from a place where the enemy could not reach her easily. She had to ignore the damage being dealt to her allies, whether inflicted by the enemy or by Oliver. Oliver could go die in a hole for all she cared. But this was the final battle, the virus would leave her if they defeated these...things.

"C'mon Lily, this thing isn't gonna last forever," Lily murmured to herself, trying to pep-talk herself. She raised her bow, testing the string before knocking an arrow to it. "I know this skill will be useful someday," Lily murmured, the arrow lighting up and becoming consumed by flames, though the flames did not hurt her nor the bow. With a final bit of effort, Lily pulled back as far as she dared and let the arrow fly, on a direct collision-course with the beast attacking them.

Ignoring the little spat between Valincar's brother and Pan, if it could even be called one, Rosetta flicked her thorn whip with arm outstretched. It swung and wrapped around the limb, the spikes digging through her sleeve and into her skin. Small droplets of blood leaked through, staining the torn fabric and the long green stem-like weapon. Her face did not change, the pain nothing compared to everything she had gone through so far.

Rosetta, unfortunately, was unused to utilizing a whip as a weapon. Dragging it around wherever she ran would only cause her problems. So she decided this was the easiest way to keep it from interfering with her work. Rosetta was unsurprised to find whatever substance coated the vine had little effect on her. She was already sick enough that there was no noticeable difference. Besides, it was hers.

She did a quick twirl with her rapier, seeing as how it was now in her non-dominant hand. She felt little difference but Rosetta knew better than to assume. It had been a long time since she last had to change hands and this was only the second time she dual wielded. She knew enough that trying to use both at the same time was a lost cause. Switching between the two, however, was a different matter.

But now wasn't the time. With the thing this close, it would be stupid not to take the opportunity to strike. She may be sick but Rosetta had not lost all of her strength. Her blade held before her, she lit it ablaze with mana, a furious fire burning into existence. Its heat blasted the air and Rosetta moved. She slashed once and followed the attack into a spin, letting the flames wreath around her body. With the momentum built, she added a matching cut and then pulled back, into the still burning flames, unafraid of her power. Her body was tense, her grip was tight, her aim was steady.

She lunged.

The fire's light illuminated her amber eyes, making them glow with intense heat. Her blade pierced the virus and Rosetta scowled as the attack didn't sink as deep as she had intended it to. She quickly pulled back a few steps to allow her companions a chance to strike as well, the expression of mild irritation gone from her face in an instant as her mind sharpened its focus on her opponent's retaliation. She made sure not to stray too far. Her rose petals were still active and they needed close proximity to her enemies to work.

Zero moves to cell G-6

So this thing was mostly focused on the new guy, Valincar's brother if she remembered correctly. Good, now if he could keep its attention then she could still contribute to the fight. However if it decided to change its target to her she would be taken out very quickly which meant she couldn't stay too close too it so she wouldn't draw as much attention to herself. She quickly made her way to the "body" of the virus and with a flick of her wrist sliced open a small cut. Following up on the cut the Windwalker made a rather brutal thrust with her dagger at the spot she had just cut. Immediately afterward she dashed away as quickly as she could, hopefully the virus wouldn't turn its attention on her.

Zero uses Hemorrhage on Malvine. Doubles next instance of damage received

The altercation between Oliver and Annon elicited a light smirk and snicker from Shadow, but nothing else, as he turned his gaze towards the Viral Manifestation. He briefly considered shielding himself with his natural ability beforehand, but seeing as it was actually focused on barely scratching Valincar's brother, and the rest had promptly began to execute their own barrage of attacks again is, he saw no immediate need to it. Due to the proximity involved, he just had to step forward, already beginning a whipping, 360 degree motion which resulted in his aerial blades being sent in an odd angle towards the material body of the true virus, the force behind the attack itself strengthened considerably due to his earlier spell.

As expected from him, the weapons curved as if following preset trajectories, just precisely to have them slash it a third and fourth time, but also to allow for a finishing, piercing throw straight towards the Viral Manifestation. Even though the slasher flew in and out of the being's body in a motion that could be only described as a metallic blur, Shadow did not doubt that it was more than able to withstand that.

After all, this was just the beginning.

The attempt to wear down the heavily armored man had resulted in failure, however, the others around Malvine were beginning to show the truth of their threat values. Dodging away from the group, Malvine turned her attention to one of the women who had a supposed command over fire. Eliminate the threat. A thought appeared in the phantom's mind and it obeyed, lashing out at the woman with its tentacles before striking her fiercely in the gut, the tentacle unleashing a violent shock--an inhibition being the effect, one that the woman would discover soon enough.

Eyes glowing dark red, Oliver was quick to keep his gaze trained on the phantom. The core had done something to it--made it stronger and more resilient, if only slightly. It was only natural to up the ante a bit. He directed the mana within his body to his eyes and was immediately gifted with sight that allowed him to view the weak points on the phantom's body clear as day. They were about as obvious as he expected, but now connecting his blows to those spots would be much, much easier. Julia's pleading fell upon deaf ears; he could easily do away with her as well. Fools with dreams of peace. If only they knew the truth of the world, he thought malevolently, a wicked grin upon his face. Standing his ground for now, he began contemplating unleashing his more fearsome power--the power of Malice. In his hand, he now held a strange crimson jewel, translucent so that those who gazed upon it could see the cloudy, electric energy swirling about within, possessing a light pink hue. The power of pure hatred. Only those with steeled hearts could harness its power and make actual use of it. The others would be consumed.

Oliver waits.

Julia let out a sigh of relief at the lack of conflict emanating from Oliver this time around. Maybe now they could all focus on the true threat at hand now that it was so close to being ended. Thoughts about the village returning to normal made her heart swell and her fingers dance through the air as they traced the shape of an eye in a dark hue of mana. Dashing it with two lines, she watched as a dark cloud settled over the phantom's head. If only she could truly hope to blind it, or perhaps it was better for it to see the destruction it had wrought, though she doubted such a being could understand the concept of remorse. She shook her head and dashed forward, aiming to get closer. She had to in order to deal further damage to the being. The threat of pain meant nothing to her. I'd sacrifice my life if it meant being able to rescue the village and the wood, she thought solemnly, an expression to match that seriousness upon her face.

The thing seemed to have taken quite the beating from her allies. And better yet she didn't draw its attention, it instead went after Rosetta. Though she probably shouldn't keep doing the same thing, for all she knew the virus could easily just change target to her, and that would not be pleasant. Though if she quickened the speed of others then perhaps she could make sure that she would never draw the virus's attention. The first gust of wind was for the woman who had just been attacked. And the second, though she didn't know him all that well nor cared to get to know him, was directed at Valincar's brother Oliver.

So, it had a weakness to fire, did it? Rosetta was unsurprised. It was, after all, still a plant, despite its disgusting appearance. However, with the blows still had just taken, the fencer knew there was no way of her using the same blazing fire she had called upon. Whatever the thing had done, it had sealed off one of her abilities. Well, it was already a given that this would be difficult.

But that didn't mean she was out of the count yet. The pain she was in lingered despite the healing from Julia's power but she shrugged it off. She knew she would have to deal with the blood dripping from her frame due to the attack by the Malvine, however. The crusting would make her movements stiff and hard when she needed to be quick and limber.

[Rosetta] moves to [F-7].

Swinging her blade around her fingers, Rosetta snapped into position. She unfurled the thorned whip from her arm, splattering droplets of poisoned blood onto the dead earth. She wrapped it, instead, around her rapier and in moments, green poison dripped from the tip. With a furious lunge, the fencer struck with deadly precision at their foe.

But she wasn't done yet. Rosetta swung her blade to ready another assault but then caught sight of Zero across from her. Her eyes narrowed and she stopped her continued attack. A question formed in her mind. Why would the girl use her abilities to call the wind to her aid? She could have used it on the uninfected members of their group. It would far more productive. And her positioning was off, in a way. Rosetta flicked her eyes to the side.

Oh.

She understood. Maybe it was due to the numerous battles they had gone through together but she felt has if she had an inkling as to what the other was. Rosetta's lips twitched. She had found she bore no more ill will toward the girl. If she couldn't put aside her own, personal feelings, she would be a hypocrite. Besides, she was still here, wasn't she? Switching her whip back around her arm, Rosetta was already preparing the sparking mana to circulate down her weapon. It didn't take long, her ability to manipulate her mana was growing steadily, and she swung, forcing the Malvine to fall back. The thing ended up hitting Zero along the way but that was what the fencer had attended. Now to see who would follow up.

Sonia averted her gaze as the manifestation laid into Rosetta, only looking during its final attack. The Summoner did not need to feel the shift in mana within the fencer's body to understand that her fiery attack had been sealed off–with how much damage the phantom had taken from it, it was to be expected. However, Rosetta did not seem deterred by the fact that her most potent technique had been removed from her arsenal. The fencer swiftly laid into the manifest with a different ability before suddenly using another thanks to the wind's aid. The briefest trace of a smile crossed Sonia's face only to be snuffed out before it could prosper. The battle was going well, but the conflict within herself raged onward.

Her staff hand clutched the weapon a little tighter and she breathed out forcibly. A neutral expression painted itself on her face and the Summoner's grip relaxed. At the moment there was little for her to do–Julia's spell was already working on Rosetta's wounds and the Manifest had far too much defensive prowess for her meager offense to break through. But as the Summoner sat in place, she thought back to the attack Rosetta had endured; true, Julia's magic was working, but would it be enough? Sonia did not wait to allow an answer. A step forward and a wave of her staff and the ethereal energies surrounded Rosetta instantly, finishing up the mending of her wounds.

She settled at that moment, gaze drifting to Scather and remaining locked on him. The slightest nod of her head and he reacted, bursting from his current position and into the sky once more. The dragon screeched loudly, energy building up in his being before a giant orb of the blueish mana was sent flying down toward the infection below. Instantly the manifest got caught in the blast of energy and the dragon returned to the ground. Sonia nodded again and it relaxed reluctantly.

Malvine is Knocked Back 2 Cells!

Shadow glanced at the true source of the so-called Malvine virus--The Core--safely tucked inside the hollow, massive tree and away from the ensuing fighting. It appeared to have used Mana for something he could not quite place... until he saw the actual Manifestation proceed to attack Rosetta with even greater strength than before. Well, shit. No wonder why it doesn't do anything, he cursed, twirling his slashers in place, and glancing idly above as Sonia's summon sent a clump of energy which enveloped the viral phantom in its entirety. Without actually doing much to it as a whole, that is. That was when the opportunity presented itself.

Moreover, that is when he realized the overall position between their two targets. Obviously, as they had all seen, the one they were fighting seemed to be more of a byproduct--a manifestation, in other words--of the ominous, green and gemlike source of the virus beyond. Something clicked. In a flash of movement, the Skillblade dashed towards the humanoid phantom, his weapons' blades glowing with energy, even more so augmented by the circulating magic of his strengthening zone of sorts. He could almost smirk in satisfaction as he ran his blades through its pseudotangible body, leaving trails of residual energy which he then activated with a kick that hit it squarely in its center, immediately detonating and causing the Manifestation to be pushed backwards with great force.

Not enough for what it was to be done, though.

"Lily," he glanced, from his position, to the only archer in the group, "Can you get over that and shoot the goddamn tentacle beast towards the thing back there?"

Lily groaned, still feeling terrible. She probably looked it too. Even still, she had to fight, there was no way around that. She had to at least try. Her eyes, though hazy, could still see everything on the battlefield, and what she saw was confusing her. Rosetta shoved the great tentacle beast into Zero. She knew Zero wasn't the most liked member of the group, but it never occurred to Lily that Rosetta would share those feelings. Lily always thought of Rosetta as the person least likely to hate anyone in their guild.

Then Shadow took the plate, throwing the virus-creature back even further, but more towards the core itself, which was hiding in the great big tree. And he turned to her, to Lily, of all people! He requested her help. True, from the looks of things, she was the only one able to actually hit the thing, but what did they want? To sent the beast back into the core? Would that even work.

Shaking her head to clear the fog, Lily managed to stand herself up and wobble over to get a better angle. She ended up not too far from Sonia, the bright young girl doing her best to dole out damage. Lily lifted her bow with some effort and pointed it at the Malvine. Right now, the tentacle-monster was right at the entrance to the great tree. Lily knew she could knock the thing back into the tree with her attack, but what would happen?

There was only one way to find out.

Lily primed an arrow, calling out to her body for mana, shaping it into the proper element. Into wind. Like a tailwind, it came rushing from behind her, and followed the arrow as Lily shot it straight at the Malvine, where it hit and blew the thing backwards and into the core. Whatever happened next was up to fate.

"Take that you...." Lily started, putting a little emphasis on 'you' and ended up giving herself a headache.

The trickster held off and watched the others execute a rather ingenious plan. "My, my . . ." He muttered to himself, rubbing his chin thoughtfully before he turned to Oliver, grinning. "No, little aardvark, I don't think you give them enough credit." He wiggled his fingers at him in a little wave, tempted to say more but holding off for now. There would be plenty of time for that after. Right now, he needed to move in order to get in position and fight.

"I suggest silencing yourself, jester, before I do it for you," Oliver stated simply. There was definite intent in his tone of voice. How easily it would have been to put an end to the fool, but for once in his life, he was going to try to be civil. Besides, with the power magic that the viral core was putting out, he wouldn't last very long anyway. It was time to see just how durable that core was, for that matter. Tucking his jewel away, he opened his hand and watched a small pale red sphere of energy gather which he promptly shot into the sky. With the rapid surge of mana that was gifted to him by the murderous windwalker, the sphere expanded quickly to a much large size and plummeted into the tree where the core was housed, the result being a huge explosion. A massive shock wave blasted outwards from the point of impact, threatening to rip some of the decaying trees in the area from the ground completely. Oliver grinned as he watched the crimson flames that littered the area and lap at the air dangerously. Now this was the sort of destruction he desired. His plan was coming to fruition in terms of expending his mana, but with this most recent development of the phantom being returned to the core, he wondered if it would even matter.

Oliver waits.

The phantom had vanished, and now the final obstacle was the core itself. If they could destroy it now, everything would be fine at long last. Julia felt a rising sensation of bliss and excitement in her chest, and her eyes grew watery. She moved forward, aiming to reach the core herself so she could deal damage, but she was forced to block her face suddenly as an attack launched by Oliver threatened to send her flying. The resulting winds of the shock wave made her cape and hair flutter wildly. She couldn't even peer through her hands to see what was going on, so instead she kept her eyes tightly shut. When she opened them, the place was covered with little flames here and there, and there was an air of hatred filling the area that made her shudder. Who...who is this guy really? the glyphographer thought to herself in a mixture of awe and fear. Never before had she felt so much malice in one place before, let alone stemming from just one person.

Zero moves to cell H-6

The monster was knocked back into the large core and seemed to have been swallowed up by it. That left the immobile and really far more frail-looking core to dispatch. Hopefully after its been beaten down this incredibly unpleasant feeling she's getting would subside. The Windwalker stepped back toward her allies, the quickening gust of wind she had provided seemed to be somewhat helpful. Using her limited magical abilities once again Zero summoned the wind once again, this time quickening the actions of Sonia and Lily.

Lily watched as the beast was forced back into the core, which almost immedaitely began to unleash such power from it's being. Lily felt the strength of the virus, and gasped, shivering in pain as the virus wrecked her system. It hurt, more than the sickness did, but the pain was short-lived, unlike the virus. She still felt the sting, but it was hardly any worse than the virus itself, which still coursed through her veins as strong as ever.

"Okay Lily," Lily said to herself, attempting to rouse herself up off the ground. It kind of worked, she was still standing. She felt a strange wind coming over her and she looked up, seeing Zero nearby. So it was to be that kind of duty for her, then. In that case, Lily should be helping as much as she could. She knew she wouldn't need healing immediately, but she would soon. Hopefully, she'd be able to deal with the pain that was going to come.

Lily threw herself forward, rolling over her shoulder and activating her hunter's instincts. Already the pain of the virus seemed to dwarf in comparison to the strength and agility she felt rushing through her now. She couldn't be as strong as Rosetta, but she was close enough.

Lily does a Dodge Roll to G-7. Increases Evasion by 30%!

Lily, after she lifted herself off the ground, rushed over to where Annon was, passing Shadow, careful not to bump into him. Once she arrived at the man's side, she immediately took out a small kit and grabbed a hold of Annon. She brought out a small herb and shoved the thing down his throat. "This medicine is supposed to help with sickness," Lily explained shortly, "You'll have to drink a potion or something if you wanna stay alive."

She cringed.

And then she relaxed.

Plague had been set out upon them, pure plague; although it failed to linger in their systems, the pain outweighed the damage it could have done. Were it not for Julia's paradisal glyphs rejuvenating their systems, Sonia was sure that this would have been the end. The virus would have won. Thankfully, it hadn't. The party was still going strong, and, although damaged, would be able to swiftly put an end to the viral core which threatened the land. A slight spark of hope rose in Sonia's chest, but it fizzled rather easily, only fueling a smile long enough to show she was still aware of her surroundings and the fortunate future that awaited them.

Zero's winds then embraced her, providing her with their cover and she nodded silently in thanks to the Windwalker. With the massive damage some of the group had taken, it was, without a doubt, a necessity for her to have the wind's aid. Sonia gripped her staff tightly and waved it through the air, a shower of light falling first on Zero and then Rosetta. The lights went to work immediately and they appeared to be in much better condition than before.

Once more Sonia's gaze fell to her familiar who seemed to be dealing with the virus's attack fairly well. She offered a gentle look of thanks to which the dragon murred; though his master was not without a heavy heart she was not completely lost. He would be able to continue to fight while she remained so–he would continue to fight so she could. With another nod from her, the dragon surged forward and shot another blast of energy at the opposition, this time damaging the core significantly.

Annon coughed at the sudden intrusion down his throat but ended up swallowing the herb anyway. It didn't do anything for the sickness raging in his body but he felt less weak, likely a recovery from the plant's attack. He clapped a hand to the archer's shoulder, ahem'd before he tried to speak. "My thanks, dear Lily Pad." His voice came out hoarse, and the trickster smiled to let her know he acknowledged her suggestion before he moved away, towards the core. Though it having line of sight didn't really matter, he ducked to the side of the entrance and popped open a potion. He raised towards Lily, "Cheers."
