There was know way Dale was reaching the running burglar in time. Besides, he did his part in decimating the lumberjack. He slumped to the ground at proceeded to lose himself in his book.

With all the cats gone at last, all that stood before the party was the dark cave's entrance. Lucille took a few steps closer and looked inside; it was incredibly dark. She could see a couple of dim crystals to either side. Perhaps they could be charged with mana to produce light? Regardless, they had to enter the cave to chase after the person or thing that stole the Cordalan Seal Stone. Lucille didn't say anything, but gestured for the other two to follow her into the cave.

Inside, it proved that it was indeed very, very dark. A sound suddenly came from above. It sounded like screeching and the flapping of numerous wings. Whatever was creating the sound suddenly assaulted the party, but the party was unable to see the creatures. Some light would have to be shed on the situation if they wanted to win.

Chapter 00-B: Cave Venture

Dale gazed around the cave critically. A cave like this was bound to have bats. And bats were notorious for one thing. "Lucille, I'll tell you this now: If I receive so much as one bite from a bat, I will not be happy. If I so happen to become become a vampire, you will be my first victim." He frown as he noticed a peculiar... mess on the ground. "Lucille, I so much as a speck of guano stains this book, I will seal you in a place with no light."

Despite his misgivings, he followed her into the cave. All the while muttering about clumsy females losing stupid pendants and dragging others to god-forsaken places to find it.

Lucille ignored Dale's comments; he was just going to have to get over it. The Seal Stone was much more than just some trinket as he believed it to be. All that mattered now was getting it back. The young paper master felt around in the darkness until her hand rested upon a single crystal. Silently, she focused her mana and directed it into the crystal causing it to light up suddenly and remain glowing.

Lucille uses Trigger Command Input Mana on Inactive Crystal (F1)!

Stumbling slightly, Dale made his way to the crystal he could just barely make out on the wall of the cave. He tripped on an unseen rock just before making it, and whack his head on the said crystal, coincidentally charging it with a surprised burst of mana.

Dale uses Trigger Command Input Mana on Inactive Crystal (F6)!

The sound of flapping wings could be heard. Lucille looked around desperately to see what it was, but still could not see anything. Suddenly, she was being battered by a wild flurry of wings coming from the darkness. When the beating stopped, the one who assaulted her returned to hiding.

Flapper uses Mad Flapping on Lucille! 8 hits! 9 Dmg per hit! (ATK)

Lucille dodges the third hit!

Biter moves.

The same fate that befell poor Lucille, also befell Dale. The creature struck from the air and repeatedly smacked the fellow around with its wings before retreating.

One of the other hidden creatures decided to swoop down and take a bite at Axis's neck. It squealed in delight at the taste of the blood it had drawn.

Despite being violently attacked, Lucille knew she had to press on. She ignored the creature for now, for she would be able to get revenge soon enough. As soon as all the crystals had mana in them, they would finally be able to focus on getting rid of the annoying beasts.
