Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
According to Sternberg's Triarchic Theory, there are three kinds of intelligence.
Componential - Your basic knowledge, this is your mathematics and science intelligence.
Experiential - Your creativity, this is your music and arts skills
Practical - Your street-smarts, this is your "know-when-the-fuck-to-get-out-of-bad-places" knowledge. Flight-or-fight response.
The Intelligence Quotient measures Componential. It's highly impractical for measuring one's true intelligence.

Lawl.
There's probably more ways to measure intelligence than what I just rolled off, but I don't know 'em. The one I listed is Sternberg's, and his makes the most sense and is the most frequently used by other, more influential psychologists.
Granted, I learned his theory last year, but it's only now sticking to me. XD

Hey guys..Curiously, are there any (stat) RPs I can join that are currently going?
It's totally fine if there isn't any at this time.

If you're willing to get in the stat scene, you can join Decaying World when Xeno gets back.
Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
That'd be great. Thanks!

I don't know how long Xeno will be gone for. You can go ahead and get started on your profile if you want. If you need any help, just send me a PM and I'll go over everything for you.

So, Zeri has a Kindle now. It's one of the cheap ones, but I got it for my birthday.
I think it's gonna be fun. =D

That's a nice gift. I seen some friends use them. I never pay much attention to them.Zerflah wrote:...

Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
Maybe it's just me, but I like the old-paper books. The smell of an old book, their worn covers, the smudged paper of continued page turning, the dog-eared pages, the that one missing book in the series at the library you're just dying to read and that one person won't turn it in...
It's all too sentimental for me to get a Nook.
Plus I have no money.

I'm not a sentimental person.
I like the Kindle so far. It's already proving somewhat convenient for me, so yeah. I bought the second Hunger Games book for a reduced price and am nearly halfway through reading it. I got it almost instantly, and that's pretty awesome.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
So yeah. I got The Hunger Games and Catching Fire today.
Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
I can't put Catching Fire down. I'm almost done with it.
Both books are amazing, though I've heard bad things about the third book, for whatever reason.
I hope to finish Catching Fire later tonight.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
I'll probably settle down later tonight and read both, seeing as how the lady at the bookstore was convinced that if I started, I wouldn't stop. XD
Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
I couldn't put the first damn book down until I finished it at 1 in the morning. =3= Took me 8-9 hours to read, and it was totally worth it. I didn't go to my first class that morning. But I don't have to worry about classes with Catching Fire, so I'll be staying up late to finish it.
The great thing is I can look through the first book without having to stand up or reach for the book. Yay! Kindle!
You won't put the book down until it's finished. I can almost guarantee that. The building would have to be on fire AND collapsing over your head for you to move. You might have to be really hungry too.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
LOL. I look very forward to this then, especially if my internet goes out due to this storm. Nothing like reading a book under the covers while it's raining out.
Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
I haven't gotten to read them yet (almost done with The Hunger Games) but I know what happens because of my friends being jerks and spoiling everything. I've heard mixed things about the third one, mostly on the negative side.
Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
The second one was really good, I liked it quite a bit. But yeah, I heard that the third one doesn't exactly live up to the first or second ones. Not that I expect it to. Everyone seems to think that a series of books is supposed from least to greatest in the order in which they are made. Most of the time, this is not the case.
I hate the term 'perfect' used in any way, but for the purposes of making a point, I'll use it. "It is hard to top perfection."

Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
The Hunger Games is fucking hilarious so far. Haymitch reminds me of Peter Griffin. XD
Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
Haymitch is a fucking badass in the first and second books.
And it's the kind of morbid humor that you feel kinda bad for laughing at too. I mean, these children are being sent to their deaths, but there's just SO much great gallows humor it's hard not to laugh. XD

Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
I blame Katniss since its from her point of view. :> She makes things way more funny than they should be.
Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
I actually kind of don't like Katniss.
You would think I'd love her to death, with the whole archery thing. And that was true...until I finished the book.
I still don't like her after the second book.
