Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
I won't give any spoilers, but I hated half of the third book. There was some good points, but it was all seemed rushed, or like she was running out of ideas and just threw things into it until it flowed somewhat.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
Finished The Hunger Games. One of the best books I have ever had the immense pleasure of reading. I only wish Rue and Thresh could have stayed alive somehow. ; - ;
Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
I KNOW.
Rue is my favorite character. T_T/
I'm nearly done with the third book. I'll say this much:
The people who think that it's a drag or "not as good as the first two books" aren't reading it properly. This book isn't about the same thing as the first two. Not even close. There's a fine line between the second and third books, but it's masked by an excellent transition.
"Oh, she's just throwing extra stuff in there to make it a super-long book."
No. I do not accept that as a reason for the book being "poor." That's your own negligence for not reading the book properly.

Yeah. It must have torn Collins to write that particular death scene. If I had to write something like that, I would have cried.
And I'm glad you mentioned that because I was worried about the third book. I'll have to keep my eyes open to make sure I get the message, but I'm not a difficult person to please and Collins has me wrapped around her finger so far. XD

Meh, I see it in my own way. I and quite a few people don't like the third book, other's may. Each to their own.

Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
But you can see that the Hunger Games is only an idea that can be used once, maybe twice, right? It's not something that can provide entertainment when done over and over again. I've seen this happen before, when people read The Game of Thrones before the Hunger Games. It's a really good idea, but can only be used so much.
You can't expect the third book to live up to the standards of the first and second books, because they have different motives, different plots and a different way of telling a story. It's unfair to compare them.
I think this is all I can say without spoiling the third book. But this book is amazing. I like how Collins transitioned so smoothly that a lot of people end up disliking the third book because it's so different from the first book.
I mean, come on.
How can the third book enrapture me just as much as the first and second books when, apparently, it sucks?
Nope. This book is amazing in its own right.

Lmao. Whatever you say, Zerflah.
True enough in every way, but I'll stick to the first two books.

Great. Katniss and Peeta's visit to District Eleven on the Victory Tour made me cry... ; - ;
Re: The Chatterbox Thread ~ Soup Extermination Headquarters
That won't be the only part of the book that will make you cry.
There are more tears to come.
