Path of Exile
It's a pretty unique ARPG. Like Diablo 2. In fact it draws much from Diablo 2 and a little from Final Fantasy. Very little from the latter. It is F2P and is strictly against any notion of pay-to-win. All micro-transactions are cosmetic or a convenience. You can buy stash tabs or character slots, but you can get the same effect by making another free account as well. There is no Auction House, people meet up to trade gear and use trade chat to link up. There is also an atypical monetary currency. There are Orb items which modify the qualities of items which are used in place of Gold.
The main attraction is a massive skill tree resembling the one from FFX, just much larger with 1300 passive nodes. Most are small buffs to your character, but some are game changing, adding new mechanics to your character, defining a play style. The 7 classes share the tree in mostly equal measure, with different starting locations for each class so they don't blend too much. Unlike FFX, the tree really does allow for great gameplay customization as far as the character goes, whereas FFX simply had very little choice.
The other way gameplay is made unique is through skill and support gems. Normally sockets in item are there to add stats via gemstones, but in PoE, gems give you your abilities. Support gems augment your abilities if its socket is linked to an appropriate skill gem. Between the Skilldrasil and Skill Gem system you can make almost any character play style you can imagine...or at least something like it.
It's also got pretty lighting. The game just has shit-tier trailers and desync, which is keeping most people from playing the perm-death mode. I don't really care much for Diablo-like games, but at least I can make a character that I can play in any fashion I want.
