Alessia and Elisia moved as one, the former charging to a new position before landing a significant blow upon the thug's frame. It certainly wasn't as potent as Xylia's raw power, but it would help get the job done easily enough. Elisia had fired yet another arrow, but did not move this time to block the man's advancement toward Wisteria. As far as the Sharpshooter could tell, he could not reach the tiny mage and, if she placed herself in front of the girl, he might just be able to land a hit on herself! That would not be great...

Alessia raised her blade and slashed at the thug once more. He certainly had a lot of stamina. Hopefully his energy would wane soon and they could continue flushing out the bandits and potentially worse creatures dwelling within the hideout.

Elisia fired another arrow before moving to block Wisteria. If the man wanted to approach the tiny mage then he would have a difficult time approaching. She'd make sure her faction-member didn't have to face any more brutality.

The last thug went down hard leaving the group to ponder in silence in regard to the mutant creature and why the thugs were affiliated with it. Nothing stirred in the dim green luminance that filled the area. As the group stepped forward to perhaps peruse the consoles and screens, the sound of steel grinding against steel resounded through the room as it became obvious that the elevator on the far wall was being used. A simple ding sounded out as it reached their floor, and the door slid open. What the door revealed, however, was not a gang of thugs or bandits. It wasn't even a new grotesque monster.

A man stepped out onto the walkway leading to the elevator who could easily be described as an army of one. He stood tall, way over 6 feet, and had a bulky body to match. On his back in straps rested two flamethrowers--one with a normal emitter and one with an emitter that was intricately shaped like a dragon, the steelwork impressive beyond anything. In his left hand he held a small gun-like weapon with a large tin tank attached to it, presumably holding some sort of ammunition. In his other hand was a long weapon that appeared to be a single fire rocket launcher. Though difficult to see in the dim light, it was clear that his skin was tan in color, and the black framed specs on his face covered grey eyes with scars going across each one. His garb was that of a scientist--beige button up shirt with a front pocket and khakis. His white lab coat was painted in so many colors--red like blood, green like the liquid in the tanks, and blue like ink. It was tattered and frayed. It had certainly seen better days. He looked around for something and eventually spoke.

"Pray tell why you have come here, unfortunate souls!" the man called out, still scanning the room as if searching for something he could not find.

Elisia shifted uncomfortably as the man approached––a veritable mountain of muscle that gave off the vibe of complete anomaly. His manner of dress certainly didn't give her the feeling of a man as scarred and brutish as this. Yet he was eerily familiar. In fact, the longer she looked at him the more she felt she recognized him. It took a second but the Sharpshooter's eyes widened. This was not an abominable stranger carrying flamethrowers practically ready to burn the place to the ground. This was the man she had seen in that picture she stashed away. Well, some version of him at any rate! A monstrous mutation. Not quite the strange creature they had just sent packing, but a transformation totally abnormal to the natural order.

This was not good. This was not good at all! Elisia's muscles tightened. She wanted to run. "I think we should go," she whispered to the others, gray eyes locked on the man's figure and hands tightly clenched around the frame of her bow. She didn't like this situation one bit. She had this nagging feeling that if they tried to confront him nothing good would happen.

Of course, Alessia shook her head, blue-green eyes sizing up the mountain before her. He was tall. Taller than her and she stood practically an amazonian legend. "We're here on a mission," she retorted quietly, "we're not leaving until we know this place has been cleaned out of bandits." The Magic Knight could feel Elisia's eyes shift and burn holes into the back of her armor. She ignored her comrade for the moment, still eyeing the man. "Running isn't smart. Neither is picking a fight," she said first to Elisia and then to Xylia. "What do you think, Wisteria?"

That ding sound sent a shiver down Wisteria's spine. It was unlike her to be so worked up about a single sound, but she felt power on the other side of that elevator. An unknown power. She was taught not to fear the unknown. Her mother always tried to train her to control her emotions, but Wisteria found herself fumbling to find words to respond to Alessia with. There were none to spare for this man. She was just a little girl caught up in the motions of the world at this point. For once, she was very, very glad she did not take up the leadership role in place of Alessia.

"I'll tell you what we're here for!" Xylia ignored any notion of caution and pounded her fist into her glove. "We're here to fuck bitches and get money!"

No Xylia. That was not the way to handle this. Oh gods, Wisteria shivered again in her thoughts, someone needed to tell her this was just a nightmare.

The man heard the whispering with ease and his eyes locked in instantly on Alessia.  What were they doing, speaking in hushed tones?  He had asked such a simple question.  Did it really require that much thought as to what their purpose in this lab was?  At long last one of the more brazen girls spoke up quite easily so he could here and proclaimed their purpose--something vulgar beyond compare.  The man's hulking form began to tremble and he let out a loud roar that shook the very foundations of the laboratory.  "I will not allow you to expose HER to such vulgarity!" the man shouted, raising his armaments and taking aim at the group.  The flamethrowers on his back seemed to spit fire randomly of their own accord.  His eyes were so tense and his face showed anger mixed with a strange weariness.  Who was this man and what was he doing down in this place?  Was he associated with the bandits?  So many questions but now that Xylia had provoked him so, the questions would most likely have to wait.

"Shit," Elisia cursed under her breath, drawing her bow and knocking an arrow. She didn't want to fight this man. Especially not after what he had just screamed. The 'her' that he mentioned could only be the girl in the photograph! She felt rather certain that this man was probably not involved with the bandits who had taken over the lab––he was probably enraged over what the bandits had done. Could they have tried something with the girl? Was the man's monstrous form a consequence of actions on the bandits' part? The Sharpshooter could only guess at this point, but it didn't seem too farfetched in her opinion.

And now that Xylia had angered him, the party would have to take him on. Gray eyes sharpened on the brawler's figure––for the briefest of moments she considered sticking an arrow or two in the girl's body. Although the desire came not from a place of good intention, it did offer strategic advantage. The brutal woman definitely fought way harder when injured––if they had to fight this poor man then being able to incapacitate him faster would be a great boon! But Xylia likely would not view being attacked by her allies logically. In fact, she would probably just turn on all of them and that would only spell disaster.

Elisia grit her teeth together. This was not okay! "Fuck!" she swore again, removing the knocked arrow from her bow. She shook her head. "This sucks," she muttered, forcing herself to restring the projectile and take aim. "When we get back––because I sure as hell don't plan to be deep fried––I'm having a talk with Magnus. This is fucking ridiculous!"

Elisia moves to G5!

Alessia almost swore. Almost. She should have spoken up before Xylia had the chance to say anything! Now the man was enraged and the rest of the group was not handling it well. What had been a test for their battle synergy had turned into a morale nuke. The Magic Knight had never heard the Sharpshooter swear this much and be so put off by their situation, much less desiring to speak with their Guildmaster! This wasn't going to go well at all. Not with all of the negative energy brewing between them.

Alessia, however, said nothing as the girl passed by and prepared her shot. She merely turned a gauntleted hand to the girl and unleashed the same seal on the girl's mana. The spokesperson was not pleased, but there was little else to be done. Adding to the already well-formed displeasure toward Xylia would not help anything.

That did not, however, stop the Magic Knight from hoping the woman would take a beating that would set her straight.

"I'm really sorry about this," Elisia called to the man bitterly, focusing intently as she took aim. She felt Alessia's power boost flow through her, but did not give the woman any indication of appreciating the help. In fact, she would have rather the Magic Knight left her alone, but she supposed the sooner the man was not hostile the sooner they could actually get some answers. With that in mind she fired arrow after arrow before stepping back to Wisteria's side with a grim look on her face. "We better not kill him," she growled, thinking not of the mutation before her, but of the man and girl in the picture. Of the man who had been driven to this.

The arrows pierced Hiroshi's chest but he did not flinch at all.  He didn't even attempt to evade them.  All he did was cast a stone cold gaze towards Elisia.  Likewise, when Xylia charged into him, even with her immense strength, she could not knock this wall of a man over.  Damaged though he was, he would not fall so easily.  Hefting his rocket launcher up, he took aim at Xylia and fired, immediately loading the next rocket into the weapon as it only held one at a time.

Of course, she hadn't seen the photo she had seen but even if she had, she would have been the same blunt and inhuman person that she was. Elisia sneered and took a couple steps forward. She didn't say anything in response, unwilling to take the risk of turning the woman against their cause. They had to knock the man senseless to make sense of everything going on. That was all the sharpshooter had to focus on.

Alessia took her next few cautious steps forward, ending up right next to Xylia. Although the brawler had dealt the man a pretty powerful blow, he stood unwavering. She raised her shield and sword––she did not swing or call upon a beam of mana, but rather unlocked a seal on Xylia's power. Hopefully the woman would make good use of it.

Hiroshi once again seemed generally unfazed by the attacks that had managed to land on him.  The archer's recent attack was extremely lackluster compared to her initiation.  He plucked the one arrow that had pierced his chest out without flinching and tossed the blood thing upon the floor of the lab.  The woman with the brute strength was strong, but he would prove who was the stronger one.  He raised one of his projectile weapons, the strange gun with the storage tank attached, and aimed at Xylia before pulling the trigger.  A huge blast of oil shot out of the barrel and coated the woman from head to toe, the black sludge-like substance falling off of her and dropping onto the floor.  From the smell, it would be obvious what it was.

Alessia backed up as the man drenched Xylia in oil and moved away from her advance. No doubt he would take advantage of the situation and light the brawler on fire and the Magic Knight did not wish to be caught in the blast. The girl hadn't taken that much damage just yet and, even if it would have bothered a normal person, Xylia seemed to much prefer taking a beating. It practically inspired to her to beat the ever-living-crap out of what was hurting her. Falling in line next to Elisia, the Magic Knight paused and reached into a satchel. She pulled out a tiny shard of crystal mana and pressed it into the girl's arm––with her empowerment fading it would be best to use the remaining mana she had to pepper the flamethrower-wielding man with arrows.

Elisia ignored the Magic Knight, not offering the woman thanks as the tiny shard of mana entered her system. She merely fired arrow after arrow, falling back to join Wisteria by the hazard button. The mage had pushed it and from what she could tell it was designed to do something with the fire. Considering the monstrosity before them had flamethrowers on his person and was throwing oil around, it couldn't hurt to make sure that fires would stay put out. The archeress frowned nonetheless. "We could've avoided this mess if it weren't for Xylia," she muttered, mostly to herself but loud enough for Wisteria to hear.

Was this woman's attacks getting stronger?  It was like the more pain she endured, the stronger her force became.  She didn't even really seemed fazed.  The man could see it click in each of their eyes--he had doused the woman in oil.  But she was not afraid, herself.  She kept attacking, keeping the pressure on.  In response, Hiroshi retrieved his flamethrower and let it loose, engulfing most of them in flame, the flames taking kindly to the oil-covered Xylia in particular.  He took the moment to gain some distance between himself and Xylia.

The flames scorched her skin, but Alessia pressed onward to engage their muscular foe without the slightest hesitation. As soon as she drew near his tall frame, a burst of mana flew from her armor and shrouded him for a short moment before dispersing. It didn't physically harm the man but it would ensure that any attacks that the party dished out would pack just a little more of a punch. Of course, Xylia might not be around to dole out many more hits if the man focused on her––although Alessia didn't particularly wish to aid the woman who had landed them in this mess, she had to admit that they wouldn't walk away unscathed without her brute force. "Your flames burn not, brute!" Alessia taunted, slashing at the man with her blade.

Elisia prepared to launch another arrow at the hulking man despite the flames that had raked her only to have her gaze shift. Wisteria had raised the emergency showers and one of them was positioned particularly close to their foe. With all the fire being thrown around and certainly more to come shortly, it would be a great boon to have the showers around and yet... the Sharpshooter couldn't help but feel that the one no more than a few steps away from the monster-man could be put to better use. As it stood getting anywhere near it to use it now would spell disaster, but with a little persuasion... Elisia notched another arrow and aimed not for the man but for the hose just above the shower shaft and loosed it. Water was about to fly.

As the hose was sniped off the shower, Hiroshi raised his arm in defense as the water sprayed haphazardly around the immediate area.  It had him completely drenched in seconds.  It was then that he could feel the bitter cold creeping across his skin.  Magic?  Coming from the girl nearby.  She looked hardly a threat but to think that she possessed this much power?  These people were smart.  He chuckled audibly as the ice began to form around his body, but steam soon fizzled into existence.  Only some of the ice clung to his body like a broken frost.  It was impairing him, but he could still move.

Just as Hiroshi thought he would be okay, the beast of a woman was upon him.  He took an unreal assault to the chest; he would feel that tomorrow.  However, this monster was not done with him.  She nailed him in the jaw once.  Twice.  Thrice.  Again and again until it was surely broken, now matter how strong his bones were.  As he was slammed into the ground, he was sure he would black out, but he had too much at stake.  His hand gripped at the cold metal floor.  Something warm touched his hand.  It was blood--his own, to be precise.  It was warm.  And comforting.  He could let himself slip away.  Just for a bit...just long enough to recover.  Just as the blackness threatened to completely cloud his mind, he saw something forming in a blast of light in his mind's eye.  It was the image of a young girl.  She looked so happy.  He had not seen that happy smiling face in what seemed like an eternity.

"N-Natalie...." the man gasped, the sound muffled because of his messed up mouth, coughing up some blood which mingled with the crimson liquid that was already puddling upon it.  Slowly, the frost-covered man bleeding from his chest and mouth, quivered and arose from his place on the floor, nonchalantly brushing himself off, his already tattered clothes covered in blood.  He gave a hard gaze at the intruders, his jaw out of alignment from where Xylia had nearly knocked the entire thing off his face.  He slowly raised his arm in order to take aim at Xylia with his oil launcher.  He was finding that it was painstaking just to aim, the frost and weariness making his arm feel heavier than normal.  Oh but he would pull that trigger; it was just a matter of time.

Another shot of mana flew from Alessia's body at the man when he did not leave the immediate vicinity. This, of course, was accompanied by her blade slicing through the air with her usual expertise. Nothing flashy. But with the combined efforts of Wisteria and Elisia slowing the man down, there was little doubt in her mind that he would be incapacitated soon enough. All they had to do was persist.

"Thank you, Wisteria," Elisia responded cooly, quite grateful that the smaller girl shared the sentiment. Xylia's behavior needed to be addressed and if she would not listen to them then she would be forced to comply with the Interim Guildmaster's orders. After all, the woman may have been a great boon on the battlefield, but landing them in hot water like this (even if their combined efforts had turned things around immensely) was completely unacceptable. The Sharpshooter took aim and fired at the man, using the flow of action to move toward another shower. She then hit it and doused herself, quite sure that the man would unleash a rather powerful attack in response to all the damage flying his way.
