Tales of a Dreamer: The Beads of Light

Autumn was instantly distressed. How exactly did they managed to land themselves in this condition. But seeing Hikari even more distraught saddened her. She took a seat next to her and put an arm around her gently. "Hey, don't get upset. That's exactly what whoever put us here wants," Autumn spoke softly. "I know I'm not Sekai, but I won't let any harm come to you, Hikari. I'll protect you. But right now, we have to focus on escaping so we can find the others." She paused for a moment to think. "Do you still have the Beads of Light, Hikari? Do you think their power can help us get out of here?" She thought back at how the Beads of Light at one time was able to banish darkness. Surely they could be of some use.

Flora sighed. "I-I'm not giving up yet," she replied fiercely as she dodge rolled behind a rock, hoping the enemies wouldn't find her until she had at least caught her breath. "And how could you expect us to have any ideas? We don't even know what's going on here!" she shouted frantically. She just wanted to be back in the temple where everything was all right.

"Fine then... let's choose a path ad try and go find them..."

Twilight wiped his brow, stoping all movement and focusing on breathing. He couldn't think well and knew making a decsion wasn't a good idea in his state. He leaned against the wall and waited for the others to decide which path they were going to take.

"Whatever, just choose a path..."

Hikari shivered slightly from the contact, but relaxed at Autumn's words. She shifted slightly and rested her head on the girl's shoulder. She hated the feeling of hopelessness she got whenever she was separated from Sekai. Hikari always loved her sister, and couldn't live without her presence. Now, without the girl by her side, is was as if she were missing a part of herself.

At the mention of the beads, Hikari reached down to her pouch and stuck a hand into the leather. She pulled out the beads, chained to each other by a strange magic. Their glow hadn't faded one bit. Hikari smiled and said, "The Beads of Light, such vastly powerful beads that hold the power to banish darkness. By history, they have been known by many names. The Banishing Circle, The Bright Hope, The Beads of Light...the list goes on." Hikari closed her mouth and pocketed the beads. "...That was a quote from a passage I read in the library, when I was still in the capital city. I had always thought they would protect me and Sekai...but I don't know any more."

"See Sayu? I told you it wasn't Iraki!" Said a voice from behind the steel bars. Hikari's head snapped up to see a girl peering at them through the bars, a smile gracing her lips. Her bright smile along with her open eyes made her look quite friendly. The girl had long, light blue hair and deep, aqua eyes. She wore a fabulously decorated dress with a crescent connecting the two parts of the robes. Her head was short and plump like a berry. The girl was actually rather cute, no matter how flat chested she was. The girl was crouched down, a staff hooked in her armpit. At the end of the staff hung a yellow, crescent-shaped object, both pointed ends looking skyward. "Those are the Beads of Light, not Darkness." The girl continued, then looked over to the side, where another girl rested against the wall.

The other girl had her eyes closed at the moment with her arms folded across her chest. Her short, pink hair blended in well with her purple suit. From neck to toe she wore a pink jumpsuit that showed off her many graceful curves. However she also wore a small black and grey jacket that kept her upper body warmer. The girl lifted her eyelids to show off two sparkling emeralds as she looked at the one who had addressed her.

"I suppose." Was all she said.

The other girl seemed rather satisfied by the vague answer and turned back towards Autumn and Hikari. "Hey, hey! Did you hear? You and your friends are quite famous in this realm." The girl said excitedly. "Oh, my name's Luna. She's Sayu." The girl said, pointing to herself then to the pink-haired girl behind her.

Luna continued to smile through the bars at Autumn and Hikari, her expression unchanging, as if she were expecting them to reply. She tilted her head to the side slightly when none was received. "Annique didn't tell you guys much, did she?"

"That old hag has always been like that." Sayu said suddenly. Luna sighed heavily and stood up.

"We're here to save you two! Be happy, okay?" Luna asked them before stepping back a little further, turning her head to watch Sayu. Sayu nodded once and walked up to the metal bars. She unsheathed the katana at her waist and held it steady for a moment. Then, with two swipes, she cut through the metal and the bars fell to the ground in pieces.

Sekai groaned again. Her head was running a mile per minute and her legs couldn't keep up. If they went down the wrong path, they'd most likely end up dead. But if they went down the right path, they would still need to find Hikari and Autumn and not get killed trying. The risks were high, and she couldn't deal with the pressure.

Sekai looked down one of the pathways and saw a figure walking towards them. She squinted her eyes and attempted to make out the figure. The outline of the body was familiar to her for some reason, then it dawned on her. It was Hikari, no doubt about it. But where was Autumn?

"Hikari!" Sekai shouted, her face breaking out in a smile as she waved Hikari over, "Over here! I'm so glad you're safe!"

The girl stopped in front of the group and smirked, her hand on her waist as she said, "Hikari? Who the hell is she?"

"I think the better question is who the hell are you?"

Dusk's eyes flared as she spoke, her claws seeming to fill with energy. She didn't like the looks of this girl, but she wasnt going to just outright attack. She glared at the girl, holding back her temper.

Twilight didn't speak but rather examined the girl, his eyes becoming slits. He looked her over, not liking what he saw, but not saying anything either way. He wasn't going to act out like Dusk, but he would fight if needed.

Autumn listened to Hikari's explanation of the Beads, and was about to reply, when the presence of others became evident. One seemed overly happy, while the other not so much. She was actually in awe that anyone would be here at all. Regardless, she was happy as the not-so-happy girl sliced the bars. Why hadn't she just summoned Krat to help her out? She could still sense the beast's presence. That was a good thing. She stood up and offered Hikari a hand to help her up. "I don't know who you two are, but thank you very much for your aid," Autumn said gratefully, smiling at them both.

Flora rose and left the cover of her rock to see what the fuss was about. "What's going on here?" she asked through a few ragged breaths.

"Basically, I'm what you call a doppleganger. Only I'm much cuter than your friend is." The girl said, then placed a hand on her chest, "My name is Iraki." The girl gave the group a mocking bow.

"I should kill you where you stand for taking my sister's image!" Sekai growled dangerously, her fists clenching. Iraki wagged a finger at Sekai, clicking her tongue at enraged girl.

"Tut, tut, I'm not here to pick a fight with you, you know." Iraki said. "Besides, how do you know it wasn't your sister who stole my image? We were both born at the same time, so your claim has been voided. Sorry, maybe next time," Iraki sang at her last statement. She then got serious, "Anyway, I've been told by a group of rebel friends of mine to lead you four away from here. It was just plain bad luck that you arrived in the breeding area. Follow me if you will." Iraki pointed down the corridor she had just come from, taking a few steps back towards the exit.

"Thank you, so much!" Hikari sighed in relief, taking Autumn's hand and standing up to more properly greet their rescuers. She began to walk over to them with Autumn, smiling gratefully. Sayu remained expressionless, however, and took a few steps back to allow them to get through.

"Now we have to hurry out of here before the shadow creatures find us." Luna said.

"...Ian will be angry." Was all Sayu said before the two of them led Hikari and Autumn away from the cell.

"Fine let's go."

Dusk followed Iraki, her eyes still flaring, her temper not quelled. She said nothing more but knew the others knew how she felt. She wasn't going to be disgraced by this girl, no matter how much she looked like Hikari.

Twilight followed, still examining the girl. She looked so much like Hikari, but acted completely opposite. She had introduced herself as a doppelganger, meaning there had to be others.

"I know this is pointless, but does everyone have a doppelganger?"

Autumn followed Hikari and stayed close to her. If there were shadow creatures around, she wanted to make sure Hikari stayed safe. Regardless, she figured they would be okay until they had made their escape.

Flora sighed in relief. Though Sekai had some hard feelings towards the girl that was helping them out, at least they had a way of escape now. She would see Autumn soon, hopefully. Without much hesitation, Flora followed along. Things had certainly taken a turn for the strange.

"Haha!" Iraki laughed at Twilight's question. "You really think you're important enough to have a doppleganger in this realm?" Iraki continued to laugh uncontrollable, "Oh, that's rich boy! Just too funny!"

Iraki stopped in her tracks and sighed, "Ahh...we have company." She had just finished that sentence when multiple creatures from the shadows jumped out of the walls and floors and the ceiling and rushed the group. "Steady those weapons of yours, this might take awhile!" Iraki warned, her face becoming serious.

Sekai moves up closer to Iraki's right side, still not trusting the girl one bit. But there was something else to take care of, and it held greater importance than Sekai's own feeling of mistrust towards the identity theft. Sekai readied her gloves and got down into a fighting position.

"Shane!" The blue woman called out, waving her hand over to what looked like to be a tall man with an even taller scythe. The man wore no shirt, revealing his extremely thick upper body, and a black cloth for his lower body, which had many white inscriptions printed on it. The man's ripped muscles tensed and shifted as he stood up from his resting position and looked at Luna. Apparently his name was Shane. Luna just continued to grin, "Hey, we found the Beads of Light. Now we need to get them back to the other world." she explained.

Shane said nothing, nor did he give any sign of acknowledging Luna's sentence. Luna seemed rather content, however, and spun around to Hikari and Autumn. "Isn't this so cool!? You might get to see Shane in battle!" Luna said excitedly.

"Don't be so hopeful." Sayu interrupted, stepping forward from behind Hikari and Autumn. "We'd be lucky if we only saw one group of shadow creatures. Don't wish for one to show up."

"My, my, Sayu, you're awfully cute when you get mad." Luna sang, then jumped away as a sword came inches from separating her head from her neck. Sayu growled once, her face tinted red as she slid the sword back into it's sheath. Luna giggled, "I was only kidding Sayu! Come on, let's get out of here." Luna twirled around on her heel and began walking again.

"These people are...weird." Hikari murmured to Autumn. Autumn didn't get a chance to respond as multiple shadows began to converge on Luna, who shrieked in surprise. Shane was the first to act, grabbing his huge scythe and swinging it over Luna twice. A moment passed and the shadow creatures faded into the darkness.

"Thanks Shane." Luna breathed a sigh of relief as the man helped the girl up. She looked around and grimaced. "Uh-oh. Sayu, I think you were right." Luna said darkly. The others looked around only to see that they had been surrounded by a multitude of shadow creatures.

Hikari yelped in surprise as the shadow monsters came up from all directions. They had been surrounded, and there was no telling what would happen. Regardless, she held her staff close to her body and readied for combat.

Dusk starts in H6!

Dusk raised her claws viciously, licking her lips as the creatures appeared. They were the perfect prey to quench her blood lust. Her eyes flared and she was ready for the fight.

Twilight starts in J4!

Twilight glared at the girl, wondering how she could look so much like Hikari and yet be so different. His gaze drifted to the creatures and he groaned. They had been fighting this entire time and this was getting to be annoying. He sighed and reluctantly got ready for battle.

Flora starts at I2.

Flora sighed and prepared her rapier once again. Things were not going well at all. She was just hoping that this Ikari person could help them out. "Well, we either die here or triumph here, and I'd rather be able to see the forest again," she spoke uneasily, her eyes trained on the enemies.

Autumn starts at D3.

With great reflexes, Autumn broke out her whip and cracked it once. "The battle hasn't even begun and it's already hopeless," she muttered, but a fire of determination grew in her eyes. "But I think I can cause enough chaos for these creatures." She sniggered silently and formulated a plan in her head.

Ikari blinked as the two attacks the shadow lurker hit her with. She would have no problem dealing with their attacks, however... Ikari looked over at the demon that had just taken an enormous amount of damage from the beasts. She sighed and turned towards the demon. "I suggest you retreat to a safe distance." Ikari said, then pointed a bloody claw at the beast in front of the demon. "Meanwhile, this one will sleep." She said, casting her magic.

Ikari uses Dreaming Silence on Dark!

Dark falls asleep!

Ikari's R-Ability activates! Dark is put under the Nightmare status! Dark will lose 10% of it's HP each turn.

Sekai flipped over Dusk and confronted the beast next to her. She pulled back her fist and thrust it at the shadow creature, then pulled it back and fired off two quicker punches with a slightly heavy third first. After that she kicked up her left leg and slammed the beast into the wall. "I agree with Ikari," Sekai said disdainfully, "You might as well get the hell out of here for now. Drink a potion or something."

As the creature lashed out at Flora, it must have caught a whiff of the floral scent swirling around her, though it must have also shook it off, for its second attack connected. But here, a burst of flower petals fluttered into the air, swarming around the monster. Its attacks would be inhibited no matter where it went...at least for the moment. She took the opportunity to raise her rapier and bring it down on the monster, quickly drawing back and then thrusting it into the shadow creature. A green liquid oozed from its wound when Flora withdrew her weapon.

Ikari grimaced when the attacks connected. She wasn't going to last much longer if they repeated that action. She growled dangerously and was about to cast a spell when she saw the beast in front of her get barraged by a stream of hot fire. Ikari snapped her hand back and shielded her eyes as a reflex. She looked towards the side to see a red-headed girl with her hair tied into two spiky buns that shot towards the sky. She wore a toothy grin on her bright-red face and a fiery aura. She wore red cloth combined with heavy steel plates and gauntlets. On either of her arms lay a flamethrower, which was what she used to attack the beast in front of Ikari.

"Matti..." Ikari sighed, "You're late."

"I know, but I got caught up with other stuff." The girl, Matti, said. "Now how about I give you guys a hand?" She asked, throwing an object at Ikari. Ikari caught the bottle and grimaced before drinking it's contents.

She shook her head and turned her attention on the beast that had attacked her. She planted her left foot in the ground as she swung her left up in the air to hit the beast, then jumped and slammed it again with her left heel.

Sayu immediately reacted when she saw the attacks coming. She ducked and weaved around the attacks, each one of them missing by over a mile. when the assault ended, Sayu glared at the monsters who had attempted to do her harm. She pulled back her blade and thrust it forward, slicing and shredding the one in front of her.

Luna growled as the attacks hit her. Luckily, she was wearing tough armor, so not much damage was done to her. But she then grinned, for when the attacks were finished, a crescent-shaped object formed beside her, then immediately spun around her body violently, slicing through the two beasts.

Luna skipped away from the two beasts, over closer to Hikari. She looked back at the girl with a grin, "You wanna see something cool? Watch this." Luna raised her staff to the sky and twirled it a little, forming a huge sphere of ice above her head. She then shot it over to where she had previously been, the ball of ice slamming down on one of the shadow creatures' head, but also injuring the one next to it.

Shane didn't even seem to notice the attacks from the side. However, he did see when Hikari was hurt greatly. He immediately turned around and brandished his scythe dangerously. He then swung the scythe down on the beast, slicing through both of it's arms. He then returned to his normal position.

"Th-thanks..." Hikari stuttered, almost in disbelief. Which is when Luna came up next to her and cast her magic. Hikari watched in awe as the giant sphere of ice crashed down on their enemies, dealing massive damage. She smiled, deciding to further the pain of the beast in front of her.

Dusk uses Fiery Rage on Crack!

Dusk immeadiately lashed out at the shadow, claws flaming. She slashed, smiling like a lunatic as she struck. When she pulled back to her position she smirked.

"See what happens when you mess with a Demon."

Dusk then backed away, heading towards Twilight.

The florist was quite surprised that she had managed to receive a few seconds repose without harm, but she knew she had to take the chance and go on the offensive. Autumn smirked as the monster attacked her. "You're in for a world of hurt now, big boy," she said sadistically and cracked her whip across its head before whistling sharply. Krat came to her aid and leapt out of the shadows so quickly to attack Autumn's target, that there appeared to be two of it. As Krat attacked, two slashes appeared on the target instead of one before Krat disappeared back into the darkness. Of course, Autumn knew that staying close by after such an assault would land her in trouble, so she backed off cautiously.

Zyu then moved in and prepared to attack. Without hesitation, Zyu slashed at its previous ally, digging its claws deep into the creature's flesh before violently ripping them out of the target.

But out of the corner of her eye, she saw that one of the other creatures was giving Shane a hard time, so she walked up behind that creature and began tearing it apart with her sword.

Hikari closed her mouth and shook her head turning towards one of the shadow creatures. One of them was about to go to sleep. She pointed her staff at one of them and cast her magic.

Flora was devastated by the onslaught and knew she had to retreat. However, she would make sure that the beasts would have a hard time following her. Before she took off, she released a huge cloud of flower petals that swarmed around them as she ran away. She converged with Sekai who was doing better than she was, but still suffering to some extent. "I think we both need this," she said before concentrating, causing a relaxing breeze with the fragrance of flowers upon it to blow through the area healing both her and Sekai.

Seeing that the beast was nearly dead, Sayu decided to turn around and walk away to help Luna, who seemed to be in a spot of trouble. She drew her sword on the way over and prepared to strike. Once she was next to Luna, she put both hands on her sword, the tip pointing towards the ground. For quite awhile Sayu remained motionless. Then, she lifted her sword and quickly sliced through the beast, piercing it's armor.

Dusk pounced her foe, slashing it once jumping back to her position. Then lashing out again, her eyes flared, but not with anger. She retreated to her original position, eyeing her foe. She smirked, happy with her attack.

Twilight raised his paintbrush, drawing what seemed to be nothing more than an orb. But when it appeared he took it in his hands, touched his paint brush to a tip and smiled. A flame appeared and he threw the paint bomb at the lone shadow. It exploded on contact.

Flora uses Final Judgement Floral Waltz on Ominous! 18 Piercing Wind Dmg!

Flora knew she had nothing left in her bag of tricks except for one thing. There were no more options, after all, so it would have to do. She pointed her rapier at the beast in front of her and instantly launched into a barrage of strikes and slashes that caused burst upon burst of different colored flower petals to permeate the air. After her assault, Flora manipulated the petals to swirl around her target allowing the petals to slash at the fiend viciously. However, she immediately sought to get distance between her and the monster, so she fled back under the cover of her falling petals.

Ikari stumbled back as both of the demons attacked her at once. She put a hand up to her head, which was bleeding, staining her clothing and wetting her long brown hair. Ikari still had her left eye open, seeing as it wasn't the one being covered with blood, and a fierce glint could be seen in her eye. She pointed her claws at one of the beasts, growling, "You'll pay for that later, beast."

Ikari put her hand in a pouch and pulled out a small vial. Unscrewing the top, she put the bottle to her lips and drank. Immediately, her wounds disappeared and she was able to wipe away the blood from her eye without it flowing back over. Ikari recycled the empty bottle back into her pouch with a sigh. "It saved my life, but that was my last one." She said.

Each time Sekai connected with the beast, she immediately moved to the next attack, performing combo after combo until she could barely breathe.
