Dying World

There are two types of mana. Mana of the world and mana of the body. In the world of Arcelestial, everybody relies on the mana of the world to use magic and techniques. If one were to use the mana of the body, they would be shortening their own lifespan. This is because mana is the life of all living things. It is essential for life in this world.
But this means the mana of the world is limited. A little too limited.
Humans have been using the world's mana in abundance, completely forgetting that the world needs it to survive. More and more. More and more. On and on. Until, finally, things began to die. It was small at first, but that regions of land began to die out. The world could not keep itself alive any longer.
People began to panic. They didn't know what to do. How were they supposed to keep the world, themselves, alive if they didn't know how to save it? They tried everything. But nothing worked. Pushed into a corner, the people found they had no other choice.
They would use the mana of the body.
But, by doing so, they would be killing off the person. But they didn't care. So desperate they were, they resorted to murder. Gathering, first the homeless, then the orphans and continuing on from there. But it wasn't enough. None of it was enough. The world needed more. More than they could give. They needed something better. Something. . . . . something with an unlimited supply of mana. But what?
An immortal.
But there were no such things as immortals. Right?
IMPORTANT:
- I will only be accepting one other. Masq and Silver have already taken a place due to me asking them for help. Note that if I receive multiple profiles, I will choose the one that will help the most in the battles. And remember people, message me your sheet. Also, the system is going to be a little different from the others. Make sure you're prepared to adapt.

Hello and good evening. Truth be told, I would rather not be the one stuck with this role but hey. What can you do. So, you're here for that, huh? Should have expected much. Still don't know why I'm the one doing this though. Well, whatever.
Now, where were we. . . . ? Ah, right.
So, you know about the whole killing thing, right? Well, the ones doing this are what we called 'The Empire'. Currently, the most powerful in this dying world of ours. And the only ones that are living rather well these days. Doesn't it make you mad? Anyway, moving on.
As you know, in all stories, there's gotta be some opposition. So here we have some faction called 'The Rebellion'. Not very creative, I know, but it's not like the name's all that important. What is important, is the power, and danger, this opposition holds.
They were built completely on revenge, you know. Revenge for the deaths of their loved ones. They were sacrificed. It's pretty common nowadays so The Rebellion's gotten pretty big. Thing is, when you have something this big, the individuals are hard to control. Not everyone listens to everyone and there's bound to be people stupid enough to do things on their own. The wrong way. This ends up giving them a rather bad reputation.
But that's not important. What is important, is that four members, four really important members, ended up getting captured by The Empire. Fortunately for them, they had some insiders and were able to escape relatively intact. That, of course, didn't mean they weren't being pursued.
Let's see how they're doing, shall we? Yes, we'll be using the square box. No, you are not allowed to smash it to pieces. It's our only real source of entertainment nowadays.
Beginnings: Escape From Imprisonment
Location: Edge of the Forest
Objective: (1) Defeat all enemies OR (2) Escape into the forest
Condition: Exhausted - Cannot use Special Attacks.

Edge stopped in his tracks, gasping for air. They had been running for nearly four hours now, in the dark with no idea where the hell they were heading. Anyone would be exhausted by now. He noticed his companions had stopped as well and winced. As much as he wanted to rest, there was no way to with their pursuers right behind them.
"There they are!"
And speak of the devil. The brunet groaned loudly and turned to see four figures rushing toward them. His eye twitched and he looked toward the entrance of the forest before looking back at their enemies.
Fight or Flight?

Ryla starts at D3!
Ryla feel to her knees right behind Edge. Her staff feel from her hand and rolled away from her. She breathed deeply, her lungs on fire after all of the running. The endless exercise was pushing her dangerously to the limit, threatening to give the final push. As their pursuers came into veiw she reached for her staff.
Fight or Flight?
There was only one Logical choice, but would they survive if they fled?

Samuel chuckled heartily as he realized that the pursuers had caught up with them. "Come, now, fellows. You cannot surely be weary now of all times?" he asked, his voice completely fine, unscathed by the immense amount of running. He slowly pulled out his enormous greatsword, Genesis, and held it out in front of him with one hand. "These daunting gents have been trying to catch us, so I say we give them what we've got." He gave his teammates a charming smile before focusing on the enemies.
Samuel chuckled heartily as he realized that the pursuers had caught up with them. "Come, now, fellows. You cannot surely be weary now of all times?" he asked, his voice completely fine, unscathed by the immense amount of running. Vern slumped to the ground. Sweat beaded on his brow and stung his eyes. The long forced run had left his wavelengths in serious disarray, and now there were four soldiers to face? He clenched a fist and pushed himself to his feet. Unsurprisingly, Samuel was just fine. The top hat wearing monster. A cry echoed in his soul, begging to spread insanity to all. He grinned slightly, happy to oblige.

Samuel took his time with his perfect posture, strolling over to one of the soldiers. He removed his top hat and bowed before putting it back on. "May I?" he asked rhetorically and gestured to his greatsword before slashing the soldier twice and finishing with a dangerous thrust. "Ah, thank you very much," he said and grinned as he ripped his sword out of the man.
Samuel uses Merci on Richard! 3 hits! 7 Dmg! 7 Dmg! 8 Piercing Dmg! (ATK)
MP: 1/15

He got withing range of the soldier and stopped his idle mental monologue. "Allow me to share the joys of insanity with you," Vern grinned widely. "It is a wondrous sensation!" His hand crackled with what seemed like trails of electricity and slammed it into the soldiers chest.
Vern attacks Nicolai! Nicolai takes 5 INT damage!
And there he goes, Vern thought, rolling his eyes, attacking people with that annoying attitude of his. One day, when I get my hands on him, I will... Ryla looked at her allies unhappily, not understanding why they would want to fight. It was highly illogical, but, if they wanted to stay, then stay they would. She stepped back, knowing she would not be very helpful damage wise.
Ryla moves to C2!
Ryla activates her S-Ability, Tada!
The Party's Critical Hit rate is increased by 50%!
Lowering her staff, she knew that much would help right now, but she could do so much better. She dropped her staff and put her hands to her mouth. Cupping her hands, she made it easy to shout to the others.
"We can beatem'! Yes we can! Hitem' Harder! We will win this!"

Seeing his friends make their move, Edge couldn't keep the grin off his face. Even if they were tired as hell, he didn't wanna run away with his tail between his legs.
“Alright guys, let's do this!” he shouted, pumping a fist into the air. He rushed forward, aiming for the mages in the back. The others seemed to be able to handle the big bulky guys just fine. Even, they probably had some good stuff.
[Edge] moves to [B-6].
