The Path Less Traveled: An Esper's Tale

This is a one on one roleplay between Cerani and I.
In the world of Mesirona, things have never been truly peaceful. Two hundred years ago, in the year 338, the gods finished their work with the planet. Vex created the blank landscape for which the rest were to put their creations. Divinty gave the world light, Natura the elements and wildlife, Aquarius the oceans, among others. But no other god or goddess gave something to the residents of the world anything worse than Reith's gift. Reith gave them mortality, anger, malice, and knowledge that their world wasn't as simple as the gods wanted them to believe. An uprising occurred, the gods fought over what should be done about Reith. In the end, the gods had chosen sides. Those who followed Vex were allowed to remain on the Astral Plain. Those who followed Reith were forced into an alternate dimension deep within Mesirona, now known as the Underworld. At first, nothing could be done, for the banished fought amongst each other, and eventually disagreed with Reith. This settled, Vex released everyone but Reith, who swore he would get revenge on the gods for abandoning them.
Today, mortal goes through daily life, unaware of the true state of the world around them. In the past months, however, something terrible has been happening. For after two hundred years of a state of semi-sweet peace, nothing has happened to mortals of Mesirona. But for the gods, only mass chaos can be found. For Reith was able to break free from the underworld, and took a human from earth who he knew would not fail him. He trained this human, and in time they traveled to the Astral Plain together and slew Vex, trapping him forever in a dimension much like the Underworld.
Reith is now taking over, he has stolen from the other immortals, and killed others. Not much affect is seen in the heavens of the Astral Plain, but on Mesirona, it is horrible. Unbeknownst to the humans, the seas are rough, the winds barely blow, parts of the world are disappearing. And it seems at this rate, the rest of the world will fall into nothingness in a year. The world is doomed to die.
Or... it was. For one Goddess was able to escape Reith, and with good intentions for the world. Divinity, Vex's wife was able to flee, and has ended up in a far away area of the Astral Plain. Just over the skies of Replinatia, she used the last of her powers to make the world a sole savior. But all would not be well, for as she was sent down to the planet below, dark forces acted upon the only hope. Reith has tampered with her memories, her power, and her emotions, and the world seems without a chance.
But there is. For three weary travelers staying in Replinatia are about to come across the Savior. A journey awaits for those who find her, one that will leave their names in history... forever.

Over the Continent of Replinatia, a girl falls from the sky. Few can truly spot the signs of her humanity, but then again, few are around to see. Three strange travelers they were indeed, two of which side by side and moved in tandem, the other slouched with a black and white guitar slung across her back. The three stood at the edge, gazing down at the small figure below.
"What is that?" One of them said and pointed down at the thing in question, a well-toned girl in a mini-skirt.
The single male amongst them shrugged. "I dunno, Anna. You wanna check it out?"
Anna nodded eagerly, and they began picking their way, easily and limberly as if they did this everyday. The girl left behind crossed her arms and scowled slightly. "Hey, you guys are idiots!"
"You know you wanna see it too! One called back. "Yeah, come on Jesse!"
Jesse grumbled about the dirt but started climbing down too, for she was just as curious to see what it was that had fallen from the sky and made such a hole in the ground. It sounded like the beginnings to a good song. "Hm, I'll think about that."

As the travelers pulled the girl from the crater, it became obvious that she was definitely human. Or at least she appeared to be Human. If she were some sort of alien, she really didn't look the part. And if she was a goddess then she wouldn't have just fallen, she would have appeared.
The second she was out of the crater and on the ground, however, trouble arose. From behind the three curious people came screeching. As they turned around, it was apparent what was happening. Bones were sticking out of the ground, digging their way up. The unburied dead were rising, three of them, all dressed in some sort of rag like uniform. It seemed harmless enough, despite the fact that they looked menacing, but when they drew sword and shield, it was obvious.
Whoever this girl was, these bone things wanted her. And they would use force to get her.

The free runners stood at the ready in front of the unconscious girl. Whatever these things were, they weren't getting past them.
"You ready Jay?"
He cracked his knuckles and rolled his shoulders while Anna bounced on the balls of her feet. "Yeah, I'm good."
Jesse starts in C - 7.
Jesse swung her guitar around and fished out her pick. She strummed a couple notes, checking to make sure the instrument was in tune. "Alright, let's do this."

James & Annalise use Herb on Terra! 1 Herb lost!
Anna looked down at the girl, distracted for a moment by the fact she hadn't gotten that great a look at her. "She doesn't look so good." Without waiting for some kind of response, she dug in James' pocket and pulled out a little herb. She bent down and stuck it in the girl's mouth, closing it and hoping she would swallow it out of reflex or maybe it would dissolve on her tongue. James said nothing, only glanced at them both once, before returning a fiery gaze at the animated bones.
Jesse casts I Love Rock and Roll [-2 MP] on the Allied Party! Base stats increased by 10% and damage output increased by 25%.
The guitarist pushed a string down really close to the fret board and picked it a few times, creating a quick beat before suddenly strumming down twice in a heavy rhythm. And then she started to sing.
"I saw him dancin' there by the record machine.
I knew he must a been about seventeen.
Big and so strong,
Playin' my favorite song,
An' I could tell it wouldn't be long
Till he was with me, yeah me.
An' I could tell it wouldn't be long
Till he was with me, yeah me, singin'
I love rock n' roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby!
I love rock n' roll
So come an' take your time an' dance with me!
OW!!"

James & Annalise cast Running High [-8 MP]! James & Annalise are affected by Haste!
James & Annalise use Leap Frog [-8 MP] on Devil! 9 Atk damage! . . . There's no target behind.
"Come on!"
Anna braced herself on the ground while James took a few steps back. He got a running start and jumped, planting his hands on her shoulders and kicking out at the closest skeleton, breaking a few of its ribs in the process. He balanced there on Anna's shoulders, and pulled his legs back and up until he was doing a handstand. He swayed forward and used the momentum to crack down on the skeletons's head and land on his feet.
Anna patted his shoulder with a genial smile. "Nice. It'll be my turn next!"
Jesse casts Attack! [-10 MP] on the enemy party! 9 Int (Thunder) damage!
Jesse's steady riffing suddenly switched to a more hectic rhythm, blasting out the loud notes. It calmed just as suddenly.
Breathing . . . each other's lives,
Holding . . . this in mind

Anna braced herself on the ground while James took a few steps back. He got a running start and jumped, planting his hands on her shoulders and kicking out at the closest skeleton, breaking a few of its ribs in the process. He balanced there on Anna's shoulders, and pulled his legs back and up until he was doing a handstand. He swayed forward and used the momentum to crack down on the skeletons's head and land on his feet.
Anna patted his shoulder with a genial smile. "Nice. It'll be my turn next!"
Jesse casts Attack! [-10 MP] on the enemy party! 9 Int (Thunder) damage!
Jesse's steady riffing suddenly switched to a more hectic rhythm, blasting out the loud notes. It calmed just as suddenly.
Breathing . . . each other's lives,

James flashed a quick grin. "Your turn, Anna." He grabbed her from under her arms and hefted her up so that the younger runner's weight was steady on his chest. She coiled up and kicked both feet out, smashing in a skeleton's skull, the one James had attacked before. Anna dropped down and, using James as leverage, swung around to kick the skeleton behind them. The kick dislodged its free arm, and the skeleton glanced at it, though it appeared the lost arm had no consequence.
"Haha, you guys're funny!" Anna laughed. She rubbed at the cut she'd received a moment earlier, it was still bleeding with no indication of stopping. She hoped it would be alright.
Jesse casts Attack! on the enemy party! 9 Int (Thunder) damage!
Jesse's mad song continued on in the background, lending a chaotic air to the battle.

With the strange skeletons gone, the small group of three were left alone with the girl from the sky. There seemed to be something strange about her, especially with the way that they had been attacked as soon as they brought her out of the crater. And that was another thing. How could a normal person have survived such a fall without being hurt? It didn't make any sense what so ever. But this was not the place to ask those kinds of questions, especially when the girl was still knocked out. So they decided to take her with them, and when she woke up, she could shed some light on everything.
Several hours passed as the group of four traveled towards the Capitol city of Kopi. The sun had risen high into the sky and come close to setting in that time. The group hadn't stopped for a second, not until the city was in sight. And as soon as it was, they all came to a halt, knowing they could stop for just a little and then quickly make it to the city and get a room for the night. Moving over to one of the several nearby streams, they each stopped for a drink. But just as they took their first sip, a screech came from behind. Much to their dismay, a creature made entirely of bone ripped its way out of the ground. However, this one was very different, more menacing in a very dangerous way. He drew a blade made of bone sharper than the others and came towards them. The group was in for a fight.

James crossed his arms and glared at the bone soldier. It was bigger than the other ones. "We'll have to be more careful with this one guys." Anna frowned and leaned against his shoulder.
Jesse starts in B - 5.
"You can say that again." She grimaced for a moment. "But don't." Jesse glanced down at the girl the two runners had been taking turns carrying. She was still unconscious, and Jesse didn't know if they could keep doing this if they were going to keep getting attacked at every turn. Still, she took her guitar from her back, made sure it was in tune, and stood ready.

"You can say that again." She grimaced for a moment. "But don't." Jesse glanced down at the girl the two runners had been taking turns carrying. She was still unconscious, and Jesse didn't know if they could keep doing this if they were going to keep getting attacked at every turn. Still, she took her guitar from her back, made sure it was in tune, and stood ready.

The runners sprinted towards the big skeleton at top speed. James slid in under his legs and kicked at a kneecap while Anna ran up its ribcage like a ladder, only to leap off when it took a swing at her.
Jesse casts I Love Rock and Roll [-2 MP] on the allied party! Base stats are increased by 40%.
Jesse repeated an earlier action by creating a quick beat on a guitar string and then strummed down twice. Then, she began to sing. Sing this time, not screaming.

This time, both Anna and James ran up the skeleton's ribcage and kicked either side of its head in tandem, and flipped off to land safely on the ground in front of it.
Jesse casts Attack! on the enemy party! 10 Int (Thunder) damage!
Jesse suddenly switched mid-riff to that chaotic rhythm. She was practically slamming the strings as she held up the guitar, the head and tuners towards the sky and screamed "Attaaaaack!"

She sat up, only to see the free runners fighting the thing head on and a guitar sounds. It was at this that she quickly got up, somehow understanding what was going on. They protected her, and were being hurt in the process. Now it was her turn to make up for her being useless.
Terra casts Fire on Bones!
(Damage: 120% Int/Effect: Burn 50%/Element: Fire)
A burst of flame ignited at the ground and shot at the skeleton, hitting it dead on. The flames traveled up its skeletal body and began to burn it to submission. Sounds of screeches could be heard as it began to turn to dust.
