Things were looking promising. Now if the fire type could just stay asleep for a little longer, maybe three more pounds, then they might just win this. Of course Serah didn't really care if they won, as long as nothing bad happened, but it would be nice. The tiny penguin raised its flipper and brought it down on the monkey once more.

Nil merely nodded in response to Selena. "I appreciate your kindness," Nil directed towards Nurse Joy. He strolled over to a comfy couch in the lobby and took a seat. He wasn't quite ready to go up yet. It had just turned dark and he felt a bit restless. Slowly, he withdrew his two occupied pokeballs and held them in his hands for a bit. Two companions that would never betray him. Right there. Cradled in his hands.

"Cora, Alto," he said and released the two pokemon from their respective pokeballs. He reached down to pet Alto on the head. The raccoon pokemon closed his eyes and smiled before rolling over so Nil could rub his belly. He proceeded to do so, keeping an eye on a wary Cora. Even though she had battled the pokemon earlier and knew he was part of the team, she still had some off feelings. After few minutes, she came around and joined Nil in rubbing Alto's belly.

"Zig zigzagoon!" Alto barked with joy as he started wollering around on the floor. Both Nil and Cora withdrew their hands as they watched the pokemon in curiosity. Cora hopped up onto the couch and looked down at Alto who was now rolling all over the place.

Nil didn't smile. Not even behind his mask. He just pat Cora on the head and viewed the spectacle with a slight warmth in his heart.

"Hehe, now that's the way to do it," Kris chuckled. Shane was proving to be more reliable than he first appeared. As soon as Shane shook the sleep from his head, he looked over at Kris for a bit of encouragement. A wide grin was all he required to hit Piplup with yet another counter.

Success was in sight. Serah had no clue how it was possible, but the odds had turned in her favor and she had basically won the battle. Looking at the heavy breathing penguin they quickly made an understanding and the bird raised its flipper. Light came to it and in a single strike, it seemed to be all over.

"Alright Piplup! We won!"

"Piplup..."

The little penguin rubbed her eyes and walked over to the trainer. Tapping the pokeball it belonged to with her flipper, it disappeared in a small flash of light. Obviously she was too tired to do anything more.

"Serah that was quite a display."

The pokemon artist didn't even notice her current guardian when he had walked up to the battle site. It was quite a surprise considering he wasn't out really late most times. But it was a nice surprise none the less, especially with his offer.

"Thanks Michael but we should get go-"

"Nonsense. You can't go to Oldale now, it is too late. Stay at home one more night. Your new friend can spend the night if he likes."

She turned to the boy, tilting her head to the side she asked her question.

"Would you like to stay the night?"

Kris sighed as Shane climbed up his leg and clung to his chest. He looked up at him with wide teary eyes and whimpered a bit. Kris laughed and rubbed his head. "No worries, Shane," Kris said. "You did great for your first battle. Piplup just had more luck than you did." It seemed to cheer Shane up a bit, but he still hid inside Kris' jacket.

Kris turned his attention to Serah and her companion. The offer of a place to stay was the best possible news he could hear at the moment. "Thanks Serah," he smiled. "I would definitely take an invitation over a night in the woods."

"Then let's go!"

The walk to the house wasn't very far, hardly twenty steps. Michael let them in, allowing Serah to go straight to her room. He then pointed to the couch in the main room just next to the entrance.

"We don't have any spare rooms. I hope the couch will be comfortable enough. I'll get a pillow and blanket."

With that the older gentleman left and ventured upstairs, going to a closet, grabbing a pillow and spare blanket. Meanwhile, Serah hit the bed like a rock, falling asleep almost immediately. She couldn't wait for tomorrow, the day she would actually leave for her journey.

Michael came back down to the living room that would be Kris' room for the night. Hading him the pillow and blanket he had fetched, he turned to leave. He got up two stairs before turning back around.

"There is a bathroom down the hall to your left if you need it..."

With that the man disappeared up the stairs, the sound of a closing door heard not too long afterwards.

(Note: Zaneko said I could godmode Kris to the house.)

Nil suddenly opened his eyes. Alto was on his back asleep at the boy's feet and Cora was lying down with her head on the boy's lap. It was only then that he realized that he must have dozed off. The pokemon must have just made themselves comfortable. It was still very dark out. He took out his cell and checked the time. It was around midnight. Quietly, he returned his pokemon to their pokeballs and got up. A bit drowsy, he shuffled to his room, sticking the key in the lock to open it, only to lock it again when he was in the room and the door was closed.

"A day indeed," he whispered to himself, removing his mask and setting it on the bedside table provided. He hopped into bed and closed his eyes not giving anything another thought. Thinking could wait until tomorrow. In mere minutes he was sound asleep once again.

Serah really had a nice house. The couch was almost bigger than his cot back home. And that Micheal guy seemed pretty nice. Since Shane was occupying himself sniffing around the room, Kris took the opportunity to wash his face before turning in. But before that... "Shane, touch anything, and you'll regret it!" Shane froze, his fingers inches away from an expensive looking vase. He hopped back and stuck his hands behind his back, whistling innocently. "I'm not joking, Shane."

With that, he headed off to the bathroom. In the few minutes it took him to wash up, Shane fell asleep, curled up on his borrowed pillow. Nothing seemed out of place, so Kris joined Shane on the couch and settled in for the night.

Statistical Pokemon Journey - Page 5 Empty Re: Statistical Pokemon Journey

Post by Zerifachias Sun Nov 07, 2010 7:52 pm

A ray of sunlight peeked through the shades and landed just above Selena's eyes. The light shone brightly, and she began to awaken. Eventually, she sat up in her bed. Selena was wearing a caramel-colored nightgown with a rather stylish lined pattern. She stretched her hands towards the ceiling, pulling her muscles out of their stiff form. It was her second day of journeying now, which didn't seem real to her. It felt like she had been on this journey for weeks, two days just wasn't plausible with her feelings.

Selena picked up her bag and a towel, heading towards the bathroom. She turned on the hot water, undressed and quickly hopped into the shower. It all seemed like a dream to her. Chikorita, Pineco, even Nil. Everything she did yesterday felt as though a distant memory. Selena stopped for a second, her mouth twitching up into a smile as she chuckled. "Listening to myself think makes me want to go insane," Selena said to herself, hosing down her long, brown hair. "I feel like an old lady, drowned in my own memories. Okay Selena, no more of the past. It's like Mom said, 'don't live in the past, don't worry about the future, just exist in the present and look at what is happening now. You might miss your biggest opportunity to see new things and experience different events'."

Selena smiled at herself now, nodding her acceptance. She quickly finished bathing and put on her caramel-colored robe. Selena then moved towards the sink, intending on drying her hair, but stopped. Chikorita and Pineco might want to get a little exercise soon, so she would have to hurry up. Nil might want to leave soon as well, so she probably shouldn't keep him waiting either.

Selena paused, looking at herself in the mirror. She then shrugged and proceeded to fix her hair. Nil would probably wait for her. And even if he didn't, it didn't matter to Selena. She could take care of herself, after all.

Light cascaded through Serah's window, directly over her eyes. She stirred from her sleep slowly, her eyes fluttering open. It was nice to have a good night sleep, especially when it was in her own home. Stumbling out of bed, she gathered her stuff and stumbled into the hallway. She went straight to the shower, and after a short ten minutes she was out and refreshed.

Rushing back to her room, a brand new set of clothes on and she was ready for adventure. Gathering everything and putting it in the correct places, she released the proud penguin and greeted it for their first true morning together.

"Good Morning Piplup!"

The penguin said nothing and instead tapped the pokeball and went right back in without a word. It left Serah to merely leave her room and head straight down stairs, where she found Kris' makeshift bedroom. Moving over to the couch, she didn't lean over or anything. She just spoke and tried to wake him.

"Wake up Kris. We have a lot of ground to cover if we're gonna catch up to the others."

Statistical Pokemon Journey - Page 5 Empty Re: Statistical Pokemon Journey

Post by Masquerade Sun Nov 07, 2010 10:49 pm

Sitting outside the pokemon center on the ground was Nil. He watched as Alto carelessly rushed around like an insane beast and Cora worked on her fighting moves. He had awoken much earlier and cleansed himself of yesterday's grime. Placing his mask on, he had stepped out of the pokemon center to get some sunshine whilst waiting for Selena.

"Those pokemon," he murmured gently to himself as he watched them play around. His stomach grumbled slightly in protest to the fact that he hadn't eaten anything yet. He knew Nurse Joy could whip something up in a jiffy, but he wasn't one for large breakfasts. Instead, he took out a granola bar, undid the wrapping, and munched away, sneaking the thing under his mask so he wouldn't have to take it off.

The sound of eating attracted Alto and Cora in seconds causing Nil to choke a bit and and start coughing. When he regained his composure, he shook his head. "But of course you guys want food as well." He produced a dish from on of his pockets and filled it to the top with pokemon food. Returning to his own food, he continued to watch as the two pokemon gobbled down their sustenance. Day 2...a blast already....

The bundle of blankets in the couch shifted and a sleepy voice emanated from within it. "Huh? Lotad and Growlithe are what?" A portion of the blanket was shoved aside to reveal disheveled Kris, looking like death with serious case of bed head. He blinked in the light and rubbed some of the sleep from his eyes.

"Oh, good morning Serah," he said, smothering a yawn. "You're up early." He stretched and got up, Shane clinging to his shirt even while sleeping. "Give me... ten minutes and I'll be... ready to go." Smothering another yawn, he lumbered off, dragging his pack with him, only banging into the wall twice before reaching the bathroom door.

Selena stood in the center of the room, smiling around her. She had cleaned everything and put back everything where they belonged. Her things were packed and Selena was ready to move out. Satisfied with everything, Selena pulled out her hat and put it on her head carefully, making sure not to mess up her hair too much. She didn't mind messy hair, she just didn't like untangling it from itself.

"Okay, everything is ready," Selena said to herself, shouldering her bag and leaving the room. Selena returned the key to Nurse Joy, who thanked her and put it back on the shelf behind her. Selena said goodbye to the nurse, then left the building in search for Nil. Which wasn't too hard.

Selena walked up next to Nil, "Ready to go? Petalburg awaits! I heard that there might be a contest going on there. Wouldn't want to miss it."

Nil stood up slowly, brushing the dust off his pants. He felt a bit of unease at the mention of a contest. Cora and Alto had finished their meal, so he called them back and tucked the dish and pokeballs away. "I suppose we wouldn't now," he said, looking off into the distance. He had faith in his pokemon, but he wasn't sure if they were ready for a contest. Then again, it would only be the first. It would be a good indicator of what he and his pokemon needed to work on to get even better.

That thought perked him up to his typical indifference, though his air held just a slight bit of whimsy. There would be time to grow afterwards; now was the time to see what the contests were truly about. "Off to Petalburg, I suppose," he concluded.

"Hurry up if you can. We have a lot of ground to cover and not a lot of time to do it."

For some reason Serah really wanted to catch up to the other two pokemon trainers. She knew they didn't want them around, but she wanted to go with them. She knew they would probably want them along sooner or later, and it would be nice to have them around. Just in case something dangerous came along...

Kris came out a few minutes later, freshly washed and changed into a near identical set of clothes to what he wore the day before. Shane bounded out from behind him and climbed unto the couch's arm. From his new vantage point, he blinked at Serah. "Char!"

"I'm ready to go," Kris grinned, combing his hand through his hair. That was basically the extent of the attention it would get from him. "I take it you want to see if we can catch up with the other guys you were with yesterday. No biggie. They may have a half day advantage, but we can do it." He rubbed his chin, as if pulling on an imaginary beard, pondering possibilities. Shane mimicked him. "If we had a pokemon-shaped hot air balloon of some sort, we could catch up in no time at all..."

Serah smiled at his last remark, she had a few memories of that to tell the truth. Her mother had brought her here in a sentret balloon when she was just a child. But they didn't have it anymore, it was just a rental, and she was sure Michael would never let her go in a hot air balloon without his supervision. Turning towards the doorway, she reached for the knob and turned back.

"Shall we just run then?"

"Petalburg ahoy!" Selena shouted excitedly, her fist pumping into the air. She didn't care that anyone was watching, she was excited and would prove it to anyone who would listen. She held that position until she realized that Nil was about to leave her behind, and quickly caught up to him, giggling a distracted apology.

Selena decided that Chikorita and Pineco should also be getting some exercise, and let them out of their pokeballs. In the single instant that Pineco was let out of his pokeball, he exploded in a fiery blast, surprising Selena and Chikorita. Selena fell on her bum from the resulting shockwave. Slightly stunned, she picked herself up off the ground and dusted off her bottom, looking around for the explosive Pineco and Chikorita.

"I don't think that was such a good idea," Selena said, returning both of the pokemon when found. "That Pineco is dangerous and in need of anger management."
