Jayce shook his head. "I still think you're crazy," he replied. Morgana tried some more spooky surreal tactics, speaking with the voice of thousands of people at once, telling some sort of prophecy that was supposed to convince him. He couldn't speak for the others, but he didn't believe in prophecies. "You can tell me about whatever prophecy you want, but I simply don't believe in destiny," he said bitterly.

Apparently he wasn't going to get a chance to debate more with the ethereal figure from the book, since she dropped a chest in front of them and disappeared. Kiera spilled the contents out, the majority of which were weapons. The girl claimed a sword and shield for her own, while Jayce had his eye on a set of knuckles. They looked like a normal pair of brass knuckles, but they were at least twice as wide and probably twice as heavy too. He scooped them up and slipped them on, flexing his fingers to see how they fit.

The ex-drug dealer sighed heavily. "Well it looks like we don't have much of a choice." He slipped his new weapon into his pocket, then folded his arms across his chest. He leaned against a nearby bookshelf, looking at his new comrades. "So, I guess we decide on our next plan of action, huh?"

Everyone seemed to be as doubtful as Sophia was, and she was glad she wasn't the only one.  Kate was the only odd one out, all too willing to take up this task whatever it happened to be.  Sophia listened attentively as Morgana spoke her prophecy with the voices of a thousand, even though it still didn't help make sense of things.  It just made things more frightening.  There were five others?  And they were going to try and kill her and the rest here?  That was a comforting thought, surely.  

One thing was for certain, and that was Morgana had a ton of faith in them.  Sophia felt undeserving and looked down at the floor.  What had she done to deserve this?  When she looked up, she saw Morgana hovering in front of her and her eyes widened, gazing into Morgana's as the ethereal entity placed a hand on her wounded arm.  Sophia didn't understand what was happening but any trace of pain from the wound instantly vanished and her arm felt...different.  Sophia reached down to her bloody scarf and unwound it only to find that her wound was no longer there.  There weren't even any scars!

Tears fell from Sophia's eyes but she was quick to wipe them away.  Morgana said something then that made Sophia realize that it was Jayce who had first encountered the book.  She looked right at him when she said the book had not reacted to him without reason.  She sighed and realized that if it were meant to be, she would be frozen with the rest of the people in the library but she was not.  She was chosen.  She was a Champion.

A chest had been left as a gift from Morgana.  Sophia whispered her thanks before the woman had departed.  Morgana assured them that they would meet again before long.  Morgana had faith in them and now they would have to have faith in themselves.

"Kate's right...," Sophia admitted as she wiped away the last of her tears and approached the contents of the chest which had now made it all over the floor from Kate's trifling.  "Dream or not here we are stuck in it.  I don't see us waking up anytime soon, so might as well go where it takes us.  This..."

Sophia bent over and picked up the strange scythe among the rest of the weapons.  It felt oddly nice in her hands.  The shaft was made out of some material.  Wood?  But it was sealed to prevent it from splintering.  The blade seemed rather standard.  If she was going to have to fight more creatures this was what she needed.  She'd keep her pocket knife but this would be her new weapon.  She used her bloody scarf to form a tight sash around her torso and slipped the scythe's shaft through it in the back where it held nicely.  Yes...she was ready now.

"This is the present."

Even though Morgana had done her best to try and explain the situation, it still left Rosa completely confused, and most of the questions she had asked remained completely unanswered. What if it was only a matter of time before they too were forever forced to be statues? Throughout the goddess-being's speech, Rosa only slowly shook her head in doubt, keeping her eyes on the floor. She knew that there was something not right, and with every word spoken, especially with the magnitude of many voices, that feeling just intensified. There was no place for Rosa here in this environment. She was an ordinary college student just like the majority of everyone else here, and she had no business becoming a Champion of a mystical purpose and saving the world... it honestly sounded like something out of a young adult novel or something.

As doubt continued to swirl through her mind, a feeling of warmness slowly radiated throughout Rosa's body, erasing all of her feelings of pain. She gasped and looked up towards Morgana, ready to question just how the being did that when her name was mentioned. How did this woman know her name?! With a few more remarks, Morgana began to flicker like a bad projection, and then she vanished altogether, leaving behind only a large treasure chest reminiscent of one like what would be found in a JRPG. Rosa was still speechless. The fact that a woman could float off the ground and heal wounds was miraculous enough, let alone the fact everything else that Morgana had done in their presence. What had the five of them just gotten into?

Rosa didn't really have that much time to think though as Kiera was again springing forth before anyone else to try and make their journey begin. Although she was still opposed to the idea of trying to save the world, there didn't really seem to be an alternative. Morgana hadn't answered if the people frozen in time would be unfrozen if they didn't journey as Champions, so perhaps that was the only way to save them. And if there were this many people affected inside the library alone, what did that mean for everyone in the outside world? What about Abby, her coworker? She gasped and put her hands to her mouth to stop the sound from coming out. She had completely forgotten about Abby! Waves of guilt crashed over Rosa as she worried about the poor girl's fate. They were supposed to go grab a bite to eat after they started their project here, but in reality, that lunch would probably never come. And there was no telling just how far this curse had spread... Did that mean her family was affected as well? Tears welled in her eyes at the thought.

Before Rosa could wallow in negativity too long, though, she was interrupted by remarks coming from each of the group members. She was quite distracted, very disillusioned by the very real consequences of this magical presence that had awakened in the world. Before today happened, everything had been going fine for her and everyone around her. Things were okay, and just as quick as a blink, everything irrevocably took a turn for the worst. If things could turn south that easily, who was to say that their efforts of fixing this problem wouldn't be in vain? Who was to say that Morgana was not favoring the other five Champions that were supposed to oppose them in the eventual future? Were they not being led to certain death? Rosa looked back at the floor with downcast eyes revealing the pain within. She may not have been physically wounded, but her spirit was very damaged from this sudden realization.

Rosa slipped her shoes on and stood without a problem. She was still amazed that could happen despite having a giant statue falling on top of her. "We... don't have a choice... do we?" She solemnly walked towards the big treasure chest that still had a fraction of its contents on the floor. There was a book not unlike the one that was now in Sam's hands, and a staff of sorts. In case she became injured again, the staff would be able to serve more of a practical purpose, and she scooped it up off the floor, feeling it and getting acquainted to how it carried. It felt right in her hand, for whatever reason, although she had never thought she would wield such a thing in her lifetime. "But Morgana wants us to follow a path without leaving any breadcrumbs. Where are we supposed to start? And most of the questions I asked her were never answered. Perhaps I worry too much," Rosa said as she gripped the scepter in her hand tighter than normal, "but I have a feeling everyone but the ten people she had mentioned is going to be frozen in time until we finish our task."

Samuel looked from the book in his arms to another book and strange trinket Kiera had dumped out onto the floor. Unable to deny that they were unfortunately stuck in this current situation – of prophecies and magick and a war to be fought – he had to admit that both Kiera and Sophia had a logical point. This was the present and the curse placed by the Grimoire would not lift itself. Tucking the Grimoire close to his body, he reached over and picked up the two remaining objects carefully. The book, which read "The Study of Magick" on the front, felt somehow incredibly right in his arms; the trinket sat warm to the touch in the palm of his hand.

"Morgana said she would provide a path," Sam answered in response to Rosa's worries. "This is the item from the chest that is not a weapon of some sort, at least as far as I can tell." His fingers closed around it for a moment and he couldn't help but smile, a slight chuckle passing his lips – a feeling of euphoria flooded through his body all at once and overwhelmed him. He nearly dropped the artifact in shock, but instead unwound his fingers from around its frame. "She also said our paths would cross again before long," he added, eyes locked on the multi-colored stones attached to the wooden idol. They seemed to gleam with an unknown power and Sam could not deny he felt compelled to toss it into the air. "Have faith, I suppose," he muttered, half to himself and half to the others.

Drawing in a quick breath, he gently chucked the item upward. The stones attached to the strings released a faint glow and suddenly the trinket remained airborne, hovering as Morgana had been. Before any of the youths could react, it began to spin rapidly. Faster and faster the stones and idol twirled about in the air until it seemed as though it could gain no more speed – at that very moment, the object came to a screeching halt and the rainbow-colored stones sat poised facing the exit to the Fiction Section. The object hovered for a moment and then suddenly began to drift toward the door. They had to follow it. "There's our bread crumbs," Samuel quipped, taking steps in the floating artifact's direction.

With few other options, the mostly reluctant party followed after the pathfinding gift that Morgana had given them. It led them through the library and out to the foyer. As they walked, they passed what felt like hundreds of people trapped in time. What they failed to notice, however, was that as they followed the floating idol, these very people began to fade as did the library itself. They traveled to the front doors. No alarms rang. No security stopped them. Sam peeked at the Grimoire hugged close to his chest. He never considered taking a library book out without checking it out, but in this instance it seemed they would have no choice. The opened the front doors only to be blinded by a fierce light.

As they stepped out they did not feel the biting chill of winter nor the biggest storm they could remember. In fact, the temperature exuded Spring. The light which had assault them soon faded to reveal the very same city they had always known, but the image rippled and a mysticism coated the concrete, steel, and glass which made up the familiar streets and buildings. Their eyes adjusted and, at the same time as they saw the world they knew, they also saw a winding path cutting through the middle of a large canyon. A sea of stars lay above unlike anything any of them had ever seen before in their entire lives; and yet it all seemed so familiar.

"This is wild," Sam exhaled, green eyes wide with awe. Even if there was some sort of possible death prophecy looming over them, he could have never guessed he would see something this beautiful. It would have been absolutely perfect had a blast of energy not suddenly whizzed past his face, striking the cliffside and leaving it scorched.

"God damn it, Ezekial!" a harsh and undeniably masculine voice cursed, causing the group to turn around. Standing before them were two men in dark garments with cloaks wrapped around their shoulders. Two of the creatures the group had combatted in the library – one of each – lingered near them. "You always were an awful shot," the man who had spoken previously hissed to his partner.

"Oi! Shut up! I wasn't that off!" the other man barked in response. "Besides, these greenhorns won't escape with their lives. So quit your bellyachin' and get on with it."

The other man growled. The chimera-like creature hissed in turn. "Very well."

In the back of the Champions' minds, Morgana's voice rang out:

Fear not, my Champions. Although I am far, I shall never leave your side.

"Woah!" Kiera 'oohed' at the sight as the world practically opened up in front of them. What an amazing sight to behold. Growing up in New York, Kiera never got the opportunity to go outside the city very often, or at all. She remembered looking through pictures of the Grand Canyon, but never once in her life did she think she would ever see it or anything close to it. "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, boys," she says excitedly. The idea was then immediately ruined by someone trying to blast off Sam's head.

"Hey!" Kiera shouted across the canyon at the arguing men. "Two men walk in front of a barn; one tries to shoot it but misses the broad side of it! The other laughs at the shooter until the wall came crashing down on their faces!" Kiera grabbed her sword and pulled it from where it sat and hefted the shield up in front of her body. It is fairly large and sturdy, even if it had a bit of weight to it. "In this analogy, I'm the wall and you are the idiots!"

Rosa's mouth was agape at the sight that surrounded the group. There was no way that this could be New York... there was so much that had suddenly changed. Where were they? Why did this place... feel so familiar? All Rosa could do for the first few moments after they exited the library was just stare at the sea of stars above her. It was an unbelievable sight to behold, and it was difficult to tear her eyes away from, until she was rudely interrupted by a loud blast that whizzed past Sam. Eyes widened and seeing Sam intact, she reeled behind and looked towards the direction the blast came from, coming into contact with what appeared to be two grizzled old ex-scholars and a copy of each of the fearsome creatures that had come from the Grimoire before.

Rosa gritted her teeth and brought her scepter in front of herself. She ran over towards Sam and stood in front of him, ready to try and take the brunt of another shot if it were fired their way. If he was able to understand what Morgana wanted, then he was vital to making sure they succeed in their task, whatever it was. He couldn't die. "Sam, are you okay?" Rosa asked with worry, trying to sound confident but not really succeeding. Perhaps she should have known that things weren't going to be normal anymore once she exited the library...

Sophia had been ready to go and Sam set them on the way with the strange device that had been included with the weapons from the chest. It took to the air and whizzed around rapidly, expecting them to follow it blindly for of course they had nowhere else to go otherwise. Now that they had a direction, they could go, and go they did, some more quickly and excitedly than others. Sophia herself remained at the back of the group, the weight of her scythe like a burden--a constant reminder that she would have to kill and destroy to survive now.

When they made it through the double doors of the library to what was supposed to be outside, Sophia understood that previous fact more than ever. It was their city, and yet it was not their city. It was bright, and then it was dark. There were familiar buildings, but a path winding between a canyon where they were. The sky was a blanket of stars both strange and comforting. They watched the group from above and Sophia felt safe. Even when a blast of energy came their way, she remained unfazed.

Sophia reached behind her and retrieved her scythe from its place in her bloody scarf sash. She had never held one of these weapons before in her entire life, let alone wield one. She wasn't too confident about what she could accomplish with it. She stood next to Sam, amber eyes scrutinizing their new enemies, some of which were familiar for they had faced them in the library. The sight of another chimera made her trembled and she gripped her scythe tightly. She wanted so badly to kill it now, to get revenge. She would not suffer such pain this time.

"It's kill or be killed," Sophia muttered quietly, continuing to stay mostly silent.

"Hot damn, good thinkin' Sam," Jayce said, watching the strange object rotate at a pace the man didn't think possible. Then it stopped, and lead the group out of the fiction section and through the library. Something was just weird about everything, though. And Jayce had just spent the past...well, did time even have a meaning anymore? Regardless, he'd been in there for what felt like quite a while, and even then it hadn't felt that strange.

They stepped outside, and even though New York was in the midst of the worst storm seen in years it was...warm. Pleasantly warm, like springtime. Yet, at the same time, the city seemed to blink in and out of existence, being replaced by a starlit canyon. Jayce rubbed his eyes. They were in a completely different area--a completely different world. The two monsters that they'd seen just a moment ago were there, along with two other men that Jayce had never seen before. A blast of energy soared through the air, exploding next to Sam.

Jayce stepped forward, a sigh escaping his lips as he slipped his knuckles over his fingers. Kiera was obviously excited to fight. She immediately stepped forward, brandishing her new-found weapons and bellowing challenges.

Jayce just spit and stepped up next to her, sliding into a combat stance. "I'll deal with the asshat on the right," he growled.

"I'm fine," Samuel responded easily enough. His eyes remained locked on the man who had responded to the name Ezekial. "I suppose I should thank you for having crappy aim," he called out to the offender, a smirk set on his face. This quickly turned, however, to a look of utter disgust. "I intend to retun the favor shortly."

"Here we go!" Kiera steps forward with her shield up and her sword at the ready. While she holds the sword and is about to strike, a green glow emits from the blade and creates a faint bit of putrid light. Kiera ignores it until she is already swinging her sword down on the man's shoulder. A trail of sickly green light follows her blade and with the cut she makes lingers there. The green light begins to fester and boil, as if made of some kind of acid.

This was it. Everyone was making the advance and Kate had already launched an attack. They were really going to fight these people. As Sophia had already said, however, it was kill or be killed. With soft steps she approached, reaching out with her scythe to slash at one of the humans. Whether she would successfully draw blood or not would be left to chance.

Jayce wasn't far behind Kiera and Sophia as they charged into battle. The only difference was that Jayce kept running, straight past the girls' opponent, to the other hostile mage. "Next time, don't be a dickhead," Jayce snarled, sending a kick straight to his jaw.

Rosa watched as everyone charged forward towards the group of hostile foes. Spurred by the heat of the moment, Rosa rushed forward as well, running towards the same enemies that she had been scared of not too long ago. By the side of her newfound companions... her friends, perhaps she didn't have anything to worry about. Perhaps they would be okay... especially if Morgana was still here favoring them.

The man Jayce had approached smiled maliciously as he nimbly ducked around the boy's flying kick. He quickly retorted by slamming his hand on the tome in his arms. A burst of magickal energy flew forward and struck Jayce hard before the man fell back behind the chimera-like creature. "All bark and no bite," he taunted.

"Gah!" the man who Kiera and Sophia had struck cried out in pain – his free hand immediately fell to the wound, which now bubbled. "Poison?!" he gasped, looking to his ally only to find no attention. "You bitch!" he seethed, turning to the viper-headed familiar. "Get her!" he growled, slamming his hand down on the tome and causing a burst of energy to wash over the creature. It hissed in delight and licked its scaly lips.

Morgana's voice ringing in the back of his mind stirred something within Samuel. He stayed very still, eyes locked on the golem which protected the sorcerer that Kiera had attacked. She said to believe, he thought to himself as he held his ground. Doing his best to clear his mind of all doubt, Sam focused intently on the golem trying to achieve whatever power it was that he held.

It ignited. He could feel power bubbling in his stomach. It soon raced to his heart and began coursing through his veins! Whatever power it was it yearned for release. Without hesitating, Sam threw his hand out toward the creature. Green eyes widened in a mixture of horror and awe as a scathing mass of azure energy flew from his hand and assaulted the creature, ultimately felling it in a single blow. "Oh my God!"

Jayce screamed in pain, clutching his chest. The bolt charred his flesh, leaving behind a nasty burn. He hit the ground hard, biting his tongue as he did so. His adrenaline kicked in hard, and he scrambled back to his feet. He looked up to the man that injured him, spitting a mouthful of blood on the ground.

"That why you're running away," he growled, starting to charge forward. From the corner of his eye he saw a bolt of light-blue energy sail through the air. He glanced back, seeing Samuel with an outstretched hand, and a confused look on his face. "You can use magic? Kick ass!" he called out.

A quick survey of his opponents showed that the two casters were hiding behind their beasts--the same beasts the group already dealt with in the library. Kiera seemed to be holding her own against the reptilian thing, but Jayce wasn't suicidal enough to run past everything to the guy he tried to hit a moment ago. He turned on his heel, and swung at the beast.

The enemies retaliated in kind and Sophia found the position of the enemies rather disadvantageous, at least to her personal goal in this battle. The mages were obviously dangerous, and she couldn't believe she was thinking that. It was like she was playing a virtual reality video game or something--something she wasn't particularly into. This was not fun.

One mage sent the chimera thing after Kate but Kate was better equipped than Sophia had been in the previous skirmish with one of those fearsome foes. Sophia could not reach him, so she would help Kate with the creature. Sophia swiftly skirted behind Kate and ran up next to the chimera, scythe blade gleaming. She gave it a mighty swing, trying to believe in the new much lesser limitations of this realm, but nothing happened, at least from what she could tell.

Kiera saw the beast charging her and raised her shield to block the attack, but the beast managed to slip through and crunch down on her side. Kiera hissed at it and bat the reptilian's head away with a hard jab of her shield. The shield didn't seem to hurt it, but the thing did finally let go of her. "Shit, that hurt," Kiera spits. She evens out her feet on the ground to get a better grip. A sharp pain runs through her side though and causes her to stumble to the side.

"Alright," Kiera hisses again, clearly angry now. She points her sword at the beast from where she stands now, not bothering to get closer. With a little jump forward, Kiera slashes through the beast's side. She expected blood to come from the beast.What she saw was several tangles of piercing thorns jump from her sword and shoot out past the reptile to impale the man that ran from her.

The vines disappear as quickly as they appeared, leaving Kiera with open eyes that have not blinked in several seconds. "I guess this makes me Poison Ivy," she finally says, shrugging her shoulders. "At least I've got the butt for it." Kiera laughs.

Rosa was invigorated by the sight of her new comrades rushing into battle. She had never thought she would be doing something so ... barbaric, but so far, she was having fun! A big grin started to creep on her face as she rushed forward behind Jayce, when suddenly he missed his kick and was blown down by a magic blast. So these men were mages? And that blast looked like it hurt... a lot. "Jayce!" Rosa screamed as she rushed as fast as she could towards him. To her side, Kiera was also bitten by the similar chimeric creature they had encountered before. Compared to Jayce, though, Kiera was a lot better off for the moment.

As Rosa approached Jayce, she realized that she didn't have anything that could heal his wounds. She thought back to the chocolate bar that she snagged off the desk from the study area, but that would only distract from the problem, not help fix it. Then, she heard Morgana speak mysterious words. Calling to the magick within, letting go of old beliefs... Was this what things were truly like? Rosa took another look at her scepter and felt a warmness flow from her heart through her hand and into the staff. Could she...?

Rosa remembered Morgana wave her hand over the group in the fiction section and they were all healed of their wounds. Rosa imitated the motion and she felt the warmth flow from the scepter towards Jayce in the form of a soft green light. Rosa's eyes widened and she gasped. What did she just do?! "Are... are you okay?" she asked trepidatiously. Hopefully she didn't hurt Jayce...

The truth of the matter was that Ezekial could feel his strength leaving him. The poison the thorn-wielding girl had inflicted upon him was sapping his life energy and soon he would pass out.

Samuel shook his head in disbelief. There was no way he had just conjured his own blast of magick energy! And yet the golem lay in pieces around them. Sam blinked. "Well," he reasoned, "might as well do it again." His gaze shifted to the chimera-like creature which had been launching attacks at Kiera. The thing had chomped into her quite a bit but at least she was doing better than Jayce. Rosa had healed him, but they needed to take control of things quickly – Sam knew if he defeated the viper-headed beast then Kiera would be able to go lay some hurt down on the mages. That would ensure Jayce remained alright. With that in mind, he shot another blast of azure energy, this time felling the fearsome beast in front of Kate.

The man turned and smiled at Rosa, to thank her for the healing magic, but he didn't get the chance, as a bolt of energy soared through the air, blasting him again. Jayce hit the ground, body smoldering. He clutched his  burnt flesh, letting out a pathetic whimper. "Fuck," he gasped. He allowed himself a moment to lay there and take in a deep breath before shakily getting back to his feet. I...I gotta back off for a second... He bared his teeth at the mages, then turned and sprinted behind his friends, collapsing next to Sam.

Things were going exceedingly smooth now that the others had managed to unlock some strange power given to them by this odd realm. Who would have thought that magic like this existed? Sophia figured she was still dreaming but with all of her movements she felt the effort it took to make them. Every sense was functional and no matter how vivid this dream might have been, there would have been something to give away that it was indeed a dream but there was nothing, aside from the clear oddity, but it still felt real, and there was no denying it.

Sighing, Sophia moved a foot or two forward and swung her scythe horizontally at the nearby mage who had born quite a bit of damage. She tried not to think about taking his life but in the end she would have blood on her hands whether she liked it or not.

They attacked first... Sophia told herself in her mind, or rather reminded herself because it was indeed true. She hoped that they'd run into someone more civil along the path so they could get some more answers as to what this place was and what they were meant to apparently do.

"Hey, get back here!" Kiera shouts at the retreating mage. Not that it really mattered, since she was going to shove her sword through his gut soon anyway. He saved her the trouble and cornered himself. That's when the lizard thing bit onto her shield arm and chomped down hard. "Ow!" Kiera hissed, reaching around the hit the thing with her sword. She didn't even get ready to push the creature away when a blast of raw energy tore it from her arm, freeing her. Kiera glances over to where Sam stood with his hand outstretched. The blast of magic came from him? "Good shit, Sammy!" Kiera cheers, raising her sword arm into the air for him.

Kiera moves out of the way once Sophia started towards the runaway man and slashed him with her sword. "Oh, he's leaking everywhere now. Nice carving technique, you a cook or something?" Kiera asked, raising her eyebrows at Sophia. The two girls could make quite the team, carving up their enemies like a Thanksgiving dinner party. Just to stick the point in, Kiera raises her sword and tucks it under her arm so it points at the mage.

"You don't wanna die?" Kiera spits in his face. "Maybe next time you won't attack a group of five fucking people with only four next time." Then she stabs him.

Rosa gasped as Jayce was blown back by another equally powerful blast of magic from the wizened mage. As Jayce lay on the ground unmoving, she brought a hand to her mouth as she slowly looked back and forth between the source of harm and her fallen friend. Had Jayce been killed right before his eyes? In disbelief, she just shook her head, taking a step or two back. "No... Jayce..." Rosa muttered as the possibilities panned out in her mind like a fast-forwarded movie. Then Jayce got back up and ran towards the back line where Sam stood. Probably a good decision.

They had hurt her new friends. This was starting to get quite the amount of adrenaline flowing in her system, and she began to try to calm down, but this wasn't a time for Rosa to be calm. She needed to make sure that her teammates did not suffer too much damage. She seemed to be the only source of healing while Morgana wasn't present. If she didn't do her job, people would fall, and she wouldn't have that. Her mindset began to shift as she had intentions of causing harm to those who hurt her friends.

The chimera had set teeth into Kiera's arm again while she was busy wallowing in her own self-pity. Moving towards Kiera, Rosa raised her scepter and waved it towards the woman's bitten arm, seeing the green light flow from the tip of the staff towards the wound. "Are you okay Kiera? That looked like it hurt..."

The mage, suddenly finding himself completely alone, growled. There was little chance he could fend off all of these people alone but he had nowhere to run now. Besides, they had the book and he could feel on their person the taint of their other familiars' souls. These people were responsible for what was going on and even if he couldn't totally get his revenge, he could seriously injure them. Even with that girl healing their wounds! She seemed to be doing a pretty crappy job anyway.

Seeing as how there was only one man left between them and the ability to get out of here AND that that very same man had just dealt a rather hefty blow to Kiera, Sam was quick to draw closer to the now cornered mage. "Kiera's right," Sam reprimanded, eyes locked on the man's figure, "it wasn't the smartest fucking idea to try and take on five people outnumbered." Without giving the man a chance to respond, Samuel threw his hand forward and sent another blast of energy flying at the man.
