As the last blow was dealt, the mist grew thick again and the guardians rose as if nothing had happened to them. August grew wary, but his worry disappeared as the guardians put away their weapons. Nasht stepped forward, his sword in its scabbard at his side. "Destined ones, you have finally come to us," he said and bowed his head slightly. "It is an honor to welcome you to the Dreamlands, yet I must express that the situation is not as cheery as it may seem. You have a long path ahead of you, my friends, and the next time we meet, things may not go as well." He shook his head solemnly. "The Oracle's word is never false. Our paths are linear and there is no changing them." He and Kaman-Tha stepped aside and revealed another descending staircase.

August watched as his weapon turned back into the slight trickle of mist and took a step forward. "What do you mean by all of this? I've been wondering for quite a while now."

Nasht smiled. "Ah, worry not, Dreamweaver. All will be revealed in due time. For now, please descend the Seven Hundred Steps of Deeper Slumber and face your destiny." With that, both dream guardians disappeared into the mist. All that was left was to descend.

Thus, with curiosity as the main motivational force, the group marched toward the staircase and began to descend. August made sure to count the steps as he went down. He doubted that the guardians had lied, but it was something to do during the long descent. As he counted, he felt sleepier and sleepier, but he knew he had to stay awake. A thin mist seeped into the stairwell from somewhere from below. August was on step 678, so the group must have been close to their destination, which was supposed to be the Dreamlands, if he understood the guardians correctly.

August looked out in front of him and his jaw dropped. He was right in the middle of a forest. The sun was just above the horizon; it had just begun to rise. The morning air was crisp, but not too cool. The trees towered above him and a thin mist like the mist in the stairwell danced between them. August turned behind him to see the others emerging from the stairwell that was still there and showed no signs of disappearing. When August turned back around, he found himself looking at a strange entourage: two normal raccoons and two...creatures of some sort. They were quite short and completely brown with lots of fur. Their glowing yellow eyes were trained on the group and their smiles revealed sharp little fangs. They both were armed with swords and wore pretty plain mail. They chattered something to each other and then prepared themselves for battle. The group had no choice but to do the same.

~ D R E A M ~ M I S T ~

In the Dreamlands, a constant mist exists in all geographic locations called Dream Mist. This mist is pure, concentrated, evaporated dream energy and can have adverse effects on the battle. For this battle, the battlefield is covered in a Ghost Mist which is sort of a double-edged sword. We gain an advantage by being able to pass through solid objects like trees that would normally stand in our way, but the disadvantage is that healing is pretty much out of the question, so it would be wise not to get hurt too much.

You may have also noticed the Dream Gauge. This gauge is a measure of how much dream energy an enemy releases that is free for use by party members. When this gauge is full, a character can take in the Dream Mist and execute a fairly powerful attack. This attack is called a Dream Shift because once the current Dream Mist is gone, Dream Mist from a higher concentration area seeps into the battlefield meaning that another effect may be placed on the party; one that could be good or bad depending on the mist.

There is absolutely no way to overcome the Dream Mist. It prevails over everything, so it will be up to you to overcome the challenges it presents. Good luck!

Ling starts at cell I-6

Ling stared at the two creatures but didn't seem to be suprised to see such things, they were strange, but not nearly as strange as Wrath's chimera experiments. Ling was use to seeing creepy and sometimes freakish creatures after knowing Wrath for so long.

"Wrath should have fun studying these things." Ling murmured, mostly to himself.

Loki sighed. Raccoons and cute little beast men. What a night this was turning out to be. What next? Rabbits and walking trees? Nevertheless, he tugged at his gloves. Best take care of the now, and worry later about the then.

Solo again traversed through the crystal version of the Seventy Steps, except that this time the descend was considerably longer and fatigue started to build up slowly for each step he took. Again, the strange desire to count every reflecting glass step floating in a vast void of darkness overcame his senses, and only when the void was torn by the blinding light of Dreamlands he snapped out of the monotonous reality he followed for several minutes, as well as the Seven Hundred Steps of Deeper Slumber.

Aria hadn't walked down the steps but rather drifted down every ten steps. Her light was flickering quickly, but it paused as they reached the end. She didn't feel tired, but almost awake. She drifted away from their foes and her allies, settling down in a corner.

August took a deep breath and rushed right in. It was crazy. He didn't know what the hell he was doing. It was almost as if his subconscious knew that he would be okay. As he got closer to one of the enemies, the slight trickle of mist that flowed around him began to glow and gather in his hand. There was a short flash of light and August realized that he now had a shield in his hands. He was awestruck. Before he had conjured a staff and a sword. Now he was holding a shield that would definitely come in handy.

Loki shuddered slightly as he walked straight through the tree. It was a creepy feeling, like walking through really thick spiderwebs or dense water. He snapped his fingers and cast his explosive spell on one of the raccoons. Chuckling as it rolled end over end.

Ling ran toward one of the raccoons, suprisingly he was able to completely pass through the tree in his way as if he was a ghost. Nevertheless, the daggers consealed in Ling's sleeve extended out and he quickly sliced to relativly large wounds on the creature.

But Ling's shadow seemed to have taken a will of its own and snuck beside the raccoon's shadow, cutting the shadow twice as well. But the cuts that were made to the raccoon's shadow also appeared on the raccoon itself somehow.

August sighed in relief that the enemies didn't figure that the shield guy was much of a threat, but they were about to be surprised. He approached one of the small, sword-wielding creatures and raised his shield up before smashing it into the little thing's head.

Ling shut his eyes and prepared for the worst when he saw one of the enemies cast the same kind of spell that shrunk Solo. To his suprise, he was still at full size when he opened his eyes. Ling took a few steps toward the creature and suddenly vanished, only to emerge from his own shadow a moment later right behind the creature and unleashed a flurry of stabs toward the vital points.

It seemed like the raccoon was once again confused and he wondered why it kept on running around like some crazy animal. Regardless, he couldn't just let it keep doing what it was doing because it was starting to confuse his allies. It's too early to guess anything like that, he thought.
