Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
Annon paused to take his hat off, having been given permission for the beads, and attached them to the brim. He replaced his hat and shook his head a little to watch the beads sway back and forth. He then seemed to focus on what the Elder was saying and stood quietly by. His mouth set in a line when he saw the illusion of one of the gemstones . . . it appeared as if it was unsettling. Annon touched the beads currently dangling off his hat with a contemplative look. "Maybe there's a field after all." He muttered.

Lily folded her arms over her chest, thinking about what the Elder had just told them. She didn't care much for the deities, but gemstones...that was very interesting to her. Lily was a hunter after all, so whether it be stalking game or spelunking, she enjoyed what she did. One thing that stood out though, was that the gemstones could hold mana that would awaken the deities...or something like that.
"I have just one question," Lily said, peering at the elderly man cautiously, "What is K's real name? And no tricks either!"

"Sir... do you know which gemstones are linked to which deities?"
It didn't matter much, but the summoner figured that knowing which deities they might be going up against could help. Afterall, if they knew which ones they could be facing, it might give them a clue to their weakness. Which would make those fights, if they were to occur, easier.

Czeslaw stood silently amongst the party and gazed at the Elder, examining his actions with mere indifference and disinterest. "The Elder's knowledge... I suppose I could listen..." He grumbled inaudibly and without conviction. He wasn't interested in anything, he was merely staring into nothing, so to speak.
His visage remained still and without reaction as the Elder performed various acts of mumbo jumbo, justice, and all of that stuff. Still dazed by the events that have unfolded over the past while, Czeslaw pondered the situation thoughtfully as he silently stood behind the party. "... Oh... He's finished speaking..." Czeslaw continued to mumble to himself as he gazed directly at the floorboards, caught within what appeared to be an eternal daydream.
I wonder how long... he's been finished speaking...

First there was Aronia, whom Zero had barely remembered. After all, Zero hadn't the honor of facing her in much of a fight. All Zero could remember of Aronia was the one that had helped the crazy scientist kick their ass the first time they went into the laboratory. And then this man named Czeslaw, Zero felt that the name was familiar somehow in the back of her mind, like she had met the man before, and for some reason everyone was speaking to him as if he had been a companion before. But Zero, trying to but simply couldn't recall the presense of anyone this gloomy and emotionless in their guild. Now this Elder is rambling on about gems and deities, which Zero left for the others to comprehend, because she was obviously not interested in the task, but rather in the fighting involved. And frankly, all this talking was beginning to bore Zero.
"Yes, well could you spare the unnesseccary details and rambling and just tell us where we have to go?" Zero asked.

Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
Shadow had stayed silent over the course of recent happenings, and he couldn't help but stare indifferently. He watched how the Elder explained the current matter at hand, speaking about a series of different Gems allocated to the many Gods Alidaire had, and how they would awaken from their slumber... This sounded almost too much for the group, so little had happened since the expedition to the Antigo Ruin, then the Soul Laboratory, the encounter with Calamity of the Skies, and now this. The Ombre Skillblade shrugged off the stray thoughts and continued listening to the old man. He wasn't going to back up.
Not now.

It was truly a surprise to see Czeslaw back. She had forgotten about him. So much had happened, Rosetta hadn't had much time to even think about other things. However, she supposed they should be grateful for the extra manpower. The more the merrier, as the saying went. Thinking back, he had been a good companion, more helpful than some. It was unfortunate about what happened to him. From the looks of it, however, Lily would not let the boy alone.
Rosetta shook her head. She was unsure as to whether that was a good thing or a bad one but she thought it best to stay away from the boy for now. She herself had no way of helping him, she wasn't the warm and fuzzy type after all. Her opinion would not matter much to the traumatized boy, most likely. She would leave everything up to the archer.
But those were thoughts for another time. Now, it was time to focus upon the matter at hand. In all honesty, Rosetta did not mind the current happenings. She had intended to set off on a journey the moment she escaped from her old life. The reason she had joined the guild was solely for that. However, with traveling came something she dread.
Boats.
Rosetta could feel the blood drain from her face just at the thought of the abominations. The first time she had got on a boat was not pretty. As long as there was something to take her attention away from the rocking from the waves, it was fine but an incident like the one with Pandora was not likely to happen twice. It truly was a horrible way of finding out one suffered from seasickness, in her opinion.

Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
The Elder let forth a mighty chuckle that actually managed to shake the very foundations of the hollow tree that served as his home. People with bad balance would certainly be shaken after something like that. Regardless, the Elder ceased his laughter and eyed the group. "The name of that mysterious guildmaster of yours remains a puzzle that even I have not solved. I suppose he'll tell you when the time seems right, though if he hasn't even told me, I don't think you fine warriors even stand a chance at finding out," he explained lightheartedly.
"I am proud of your courage and eagerness, but do not get hasty, young ones," the Elder warned, his expression becoming more serious. "The earth is a canvas upon which an eternal story is scrawled. This story is one I read everyday, and I learn many things. The earth....it endears to whisper me secrets to me in the night, and chat with me during the day. One of the things I have learned is the position of the three gemstones you will be seeking out."
"Ah, must they belong to the leading deities of Selva?" Valincar inquired. The number three managed to ring a bell in his mind for some reason, and that's when he realized that Selva had two patron gods and one matron goddess.
"That is correct. The deities that govern over Selva consists of Paisagem, the God of Landscapes. The earth speaks to me and tells me that his gemstone is located in a cave on the southwestern coast, used as a treasure cove by a notorious pirate. Another is Meteoro, God of Space. I am told by the earth that his gemstone is being protected by a village in Campo de Estralas Caidos. The last deity is Cachoeira, Goddess of Waterfalls. The earth was difficult to get the answer from with this one, but I managed to gather that the gemstone is being held deep within a cavern system that can be entered through an opening behind the mighty Cai Vestuaria." The Elder sighed and took a deep breath. "I suggest stopping by Cadencia on your way to the first gem; you might be able to gather information concerning its exact whereabouts. Another branch of your very own guild, Luz Cascata, can be found there as well, so make sure to stop by and say hello. Give ol' Raymond my best wishes and greetings. Are you now clear on what you must do?"

Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
Those gemstones were beginning to sound rather delightful now, or so Lily thought. She knew that there was going to be a lot of work involved in getting those gemstones, but she was sure it would be worth it. Saving the world always had it's twists and turns, so they may as well get it over with. At the mention of being clear on their task, Lily immediately straightened herself, put her feet together and her right hand smacked on the area just above her eyebrow in a salute.
"I understand, your earthiness!" Lily practically shouted, loud and clear and determined. Lily's set frown then turned into a huge smile, "We'll have the first gemstone in our hands before the fortnight ends!" Lily's confidence would end up getting her killed one day.

Upon hearing about the treasure cove, Rosetta resisted the urge to sigh. There was no doubt about it now, they were going to be riding on a boat. She resolved not to set foot out of whatever room she was given throughout the entire ride. Vomiting all over the floorboards was not on her to-do list.
"We shall do our best," she said rather stiffly, a slight hint of annoyance in her stance. Rosetta dreaded the trip to the treasure cove the most at the moment and knew she would dwell on it until she found something to take her anger out on. Hopefully, it would be sooner than later.

Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
As the Elder speech finally came to an end, his voice slowly faded away and was replaced with the unanimous, short acceptance speeches given by the rest of the party. Wait... he's speaking again... No... Czeslaw stood silently, limbs motionless and stiff, gazing at the Elder with his eyes unblinking, ... Oh... He is done after all... The priest's demeanor remained disinterested, almost as if he was lost within a different dimension.
I feel so... dazed... So... so... Eventually, his disinterested gaze transformed into a mindless stare, though only for mere seconds. Upon returning back to reality, Czeslaw twisted his head in both directions in a remarkably lethargic manner.
Oh... We're still here... Okay... His eyes shifted toward Lily, and then at Valincar, and then back at Lily. For a short period of time, he also gazed at Rosetta, and then Shadow, or was it Zero? Is that... Lily speaking?... No. His gaze became fixated upon Rosetta once more, Yes... Rosetta is speaking now...

Annon could only grin, lost within the mysterious planes of his mind. He could remember water, and boats, from several different lifetimes but unsure of which was his. His brow furrowed a moment as he tried to recall how he'd gotten to the festival before, but only came up with several shipside battles. Cannons, swords, magic. The works. And a shapeshifter. A book. Someone not very nice. All of it very disjointed.
"Not so many holes now." He stated. The beads on his hat were still pretty, colorful and distracting. "Maybe a couple left."

"Excellent, my children! Then, with my best wishes in hand, I relinquish all to venture forth! See the continent for all its splendor! Take this," he boomed before hobbling over to Valincar and placing a solid gold sphere in his undead hands. "If ever you need me, just use this sphere. I cannot tell you how to use it, but when the time comes that you absolutely must have a word with me, it'll work for you. Trust me."
Valincar nodded in thanks, and turned to leave. The party filed out of the Elder's house with their new task at hand. It was sure to be a long one. Lyra lingered at the back of the group. They continued on, but she stopped, looking up into the sky. The eagle from before was still there. It was flying in a complex pattern, and it appeared as though Lyra were trying to decipher something, her mind hard at work. But she knew all to well what the eagle was trying to tell her. So, it's finally that time, eh? she thought. The rest of the group proceeded to walk, but she didn't make another move.

Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
Lily looked back, noticing something off about the group's footsteps. She could usually hear even the lightest footsteps, but Lyra's had vanished. When she looked behind her, she saw that Lyra had actually stopped. Curious, Lily walked back towards Lyra and poked her. "Hey you," Lily said. Once she had Lyra's attention, Lily folded her arms over her chest and looked up.
Lily quickly looked back down at Lyra after glancing at the eagle. She sighed once, then said, "What's going on, are you alright?" Lily had a feeling that something was up, including that eagle.

Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
Valincar stopped as he realized something was amiss. He halted, hoping the rest of the group would do the same. It would be too good to get too far head of Lily, but he didn't go to see what was up between the two. He had a feeling deep down, and though he wished it wasn't right, he just couldn't deny it.
Lyra smiled sadly and pointed up at the great bird that now began to fly away. She had already nodded to it in response prior. "Maxwell's calling me back. It's...it's time that I have to leave now," she said. Just minutes ago, she was intently listening to what this Elder had to say, talk of a great journey--one that she wasn't going on. And now she had to leave them behind. Were they her friends? Eh, maybe. But it was still sad to see them go.
"I'm not going to prolong this because this is just the way things have to be. Here," she said quickly, taking hold of Lily's hand and placing a black ring with a light purple gem embedded in it. "It's...a ring to match mine, you see," she explained and held up her own hand which possessed a purpled band and a black gem. "I want you to hold to that...s-so you don't forget about me," she continued, finding it a bit more difficult to grasp at words. Her face was turning a light shade of red. Suddenly, she embraced Lily, wrapping her arms around her, and planted a kiss upon the archer's cheek. "Listen to me: I'm gonna miss you, girl. I want you to take care of those fools you're always travelling around with, okay? They might be idiots, but remember one thing: they're YOUR idiots." She released Lily and looked up into the sky. "I have my own idiots to attend to right now."

Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
The party coming to a sudden halt, Czeslaw did not turn to see what was occurring. His indifference remained strong, and his emotional attachment to the group was as frigid as it had been since he arrived. We've stopped moving... I wonder if somebody fell... Pure white apparel fluttering in the breeze, Czeslaw gazed directly into the eye of the buffet of wind. Showing no irritation or concern as the party stopped moving, Czeslaw remained stationary and indifferent to his surroundings.
Lily said something... to... Lyra?... Yes... It must have been her. His senses were dull and nearly unresponsive. Not even his brain seemed to be functioning properly in the slightest. Not in an intellectual state, per se, but more of a social distancing had occurred that Czeslaw would not normally enact upon his own free will.
I think I can see others going... His vision blurred for a moment, No... It's only Lily...

Lily equips the Amethyst Ring!
Lily blinked down at the ring that was given to her by Lyra. It was really a beautiful ring, and to top it off, it matched Lyra's. Lily smiled at the enchantress and hugged her, "You're an idiot too, how could I ever forget you?" Lily asked. She parted with Lyra, turned her around and gave her a push. "Now get out of here before I chase you away!" Lily smiled enthusiastically. In actuality, she was sad that Lyra had to go, but she had never expected her to stay forever in the first place. Lily waved Lyra good-bye, not saying another word at her until she was out of sight.
Lily twirled around to face the party. She had a smile on her face, but it quickly vanished when she saw them looking at her. "What?" Lily snapped, "Quit dilly-dallying around and let's get a move on! Those gemstones aren't going to find themselves, ya know!" Lily then muttered something under her breath that vaguely sounded like 'idiots.' Lily quickly started walking again, catching up to the party easily.

Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
Lyra smiled as Lily left her. It was really for the best. You're not one for goodbyes either, I see. We'll meet again. She sighed and walked down the dirt road in the opposite direction Lily and the others were going. Sadly, Maxwell will make sure we'll see each other again. All the thoughts of her recent kidnapping activities rushed into her head, and her boss's ability to be way more over the top than need be was already giving her a slight headache. More training. Bleh.
Idiot. She thought this, and nothing more. It was back to the Eagle's Hideout for her.
With Lyra departed, it was time for Luz Cascata to set out. The motley group marched out the gates of Visterre and began the long trek down the road to Cadencia.

Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
The dirt path led out the south part of the capital city and continued on in a southern direction, very few turns and forks. Such a straightforward path was a godsend, for the sun blazed mercilessly overhead, not a single cloud to be found. The trees served as good shade, but the humidity was worse in the jungle than it was in the city. It took a while of walking through the intense conditions of the jungle, but eventually, night fell, and things began to cool down. The trees began to become farther and farther apart until they reached the part of the path that traversed a grassy meadow, tons of white and yellow wildflowers dancing amongst the green, the rising moon as their spotlight.
It was here that the party was forced to stop. The grass was swaying nearby, but it was for a different reason than the wind. It was an ambush. In a flash, several figures in black coats revealed themselves, blocking the party's way. They each had a set of steel claws upon their hands, all tainted red like blood.
Valincar stepped forward, sword drawn and at the ready. "I suggest you remove yourselves from out path lest you wish to be cut to ribbons," he warned, his voice booming compared to the silence of the still night.
No response. They brandished their weapons. It seemed as though they were to let actions speak louder than words.

Annon starts in I - 3.
The trickster stood off to the side, brandishing his hat like some kind of intimidating weapon. "Yarr! These landlubbers need be taught a' lesson in propah combat!" Annon cocked his chin up and held his hat like a leveled sword. He even cracked open his mouth to bare a pearly eye tooth at the group's newest enemies. "Raise the jolly rogah and call war on these bilge rats!"

Sonia starts at J5!
Sonia had been rather silent after her question had been answered. She didn't really care much about the things that followed. Lyra's leaving was kinda sad, but the summoner was never totally thrilled with her anyway. So she continued to follow the others in silence up until they came upon those who stood in their way now. Eyes sharpening for a moment, her mind launching a deep and intricate process of analyzing her foes. She predicted based on their appearance and natural aura that they didn't really care for the light. And unluckily for them, she had just the spell to fix that.

Czeslaw starts at J6.
The party came to a halt once more, and as he did earlier, Czeslaw stopped dead in his tracks and gazed outward in front of him. The newer, unsociable (well, more unsociable than he already was) persona that seemed to possess Czeslaw did not fade away when combat called. Staring at the cloaked figures with the same, piercing eyes that he would stoically peer at his allies with, the priest did not move in the slightest.
"Sonia." Czeslaw murmured under his breath in a remorseful, yet slightly unfriendly tone, "It gratifies me to know that you've learned to heal your allies."

Zero starts at cell I-6
"Valincar, your threats don't do much do they?" Zero asked, not expecting an answer.
Drawing her dagger, Zero couldn't help but feel that these things, they seemed to be somehow a little familiar. She didn't know when or where, just somehow. Maybe an enemy they fought before? Zero shook her head, for it wasn't the time to be worrying about these things. Zero was never good at remembering anyway, she was much better at just stabbing things without question.

Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
Lily starts in J-1
Lily pushed herself far away from her friends and enemies. She would stay behind the trees and pick off each enemy with unfettering accuracy. Lily took out her bow, holding it in her left hand as she strung it. The ring Lyra gave her sparkled in the moonlight, catching Lily's attention. She smiled, then kissed the ring once, "I'm ready to protect my idiots from harm, how about you Lyra?" Lily whispered into the ring, a content look resting on her face. The wind blew cold into her face, causing her to shiver a little bit.
Lily looked up with a newfound confidence, her visage practically glowing with energy as she readied her first arrow.

Re: Tales of Alidaire: The Corruption Disc 2
She should have expected this. They could never leave a place without something interrupting them. But it mattered not. Unsheathing her rapier, Rosetta directed her focus on the nearest cloaked figure, molten amber eyes scrutinizing them. After what they had been though, this wouldn't be much of a problem.
