Zhaoyang casts Alignment [-10 MP] on himself! Int and Evasion increased by 20%!

Zhao shut his eyes for a moment, sensing his connection to the stars and strengthening its hold on his spirit. Upon opening them, he saw that he had a perfect opportunity for what was becoming his favorite form of attack. If they held that formation, he could easily decimate them in no time. However there was something else to attend to. He directed his gaze at the Lancer once more. "Protect her, I am in less need of it than she is."

Darragh now let himself glance at the tiger, hearing his order. From what he'd seen, the big feline was the one who went frontline and would need heavier protection. But who was he to argue? He was the newcomer here and figured the tiger could likely take care of himself. And, if he got hurt, Darragh would be right there to get him back up to working condition. No worries. So he nodded and thrust his lance forward, causing the white shield symbol to appear under his feet. With a sound like steam, another just like it appeared over the girl and faded.

Alexandria casts Protect on Zhaoyang! Bestows Protect!

Alexandria felt just a bit safer when Darragh's protection magic came upon her. She knew that if any of their enemies hit her she would likely find herself on her last legs very quickly. Able to relax, if just a small amount, she set about bestowing her own aegis on her allies. She started with Zhao, who, unlike the Lancer, had rather poor physical defenses and might not be able to handle taking several hits even with his boosted power.

"I think we both know that is not an option Mister Loxley." Alec spoke up, his tone just as sharp as it had been previously. He flipped open the book he carried, which noticeably detailed a fictional story rather than incantations for magic spells. Nevertheless, he placed a hand on the page he opened to, his gaze locking in on the Lancer. "Endless uncertainty! Winds blow and dazzle!" he chanted whilst throwing his hand in the direction of his target. Instantly a burst of wind surged forth and struck the man where he stood; it did not damage him too harshly, but it was rather frightening how perfect his aim was.

The man then looked over to those that allied themselves with him. "This should not take long; I can handle the Lancer and his apparent charge," he assured them, "finish off the overgrown cat." A glare fell on Zhaoyang as he spoke of the Star, making sure to put special emphasis on the insult. Alec was anything but foolish, though, his gaze darted back to the lead guard. "Cover me."

The 'overgrown cat' bristled visibly, ears laid back, lowering his front low to the ground, and snarled after the insult landed. He only just noticed getting hit by the two soldiers and growled at them too, noticing they'd kept the formation, the fools. But he had a definite target now. "You'll regret that." He snarled. He'd show this stupid man just why he was to be feared. The tiger bounded up to his protecting soldier and glared, letting rage build up. He felt it like crackling fire rising up in him until he released it, burning a trail straight through the two humans in front of him. "Today you will know the name Zhaoyang, and you will fear it!"

R-Ability: Heavenly Body activates! 9 Int damage to all surrounding cells (Benjamin)! 75% chance of Confusion!

Zhaoyang moves to E-6.

Zhaoyang casts Burning Gaze [-12 MP] on Erwin! 25 Int (Fire) damage! Also hits Alec!

Well. After that display, Darragh found himself a lot less nervous. What was there to be scared of with that monstrosity pissed and on your side? The Lancer huffed an amused breath through his nose and turned his lance up to lean against it. He reached for his belt and grabbed his pipe from where he had it stashed. Smiling to himself, he lit it up and took a deep drag, blowing out blue smoke. He tipped his head towards Alec, regardless of whether or not the man would see him. "Nice day, chaps."

Darragh casts Relax [-12 MP]! Recovers 10% Max HP and grants Shell! Also hits Alexandria!

Darragh took damage! R-Ability: This Only Gets Harder activates! Stats increase by 5%!

Alexandria smiled just a bit as Zhaoyang rampaged after the council member. The man proved to be arrogant and it pleased the refugee to see the tiger tear into his guard. "If I were you Mister DelAccore," Alexandria stated rather loudly, "I would be a little more careful." The man that took the brunt force of Zhao's anger fell to the ground defeated, leaving Alec without an immediate guard. That would change soon, obviously, but he didn't have an infinite number of them; they would run out eventually. "I'm not responsible for what my friend does when he gets angry." she finished, taking a couple steps so that she took over Zhaoyang's previous spot.

Alexandria moves to C7!

Her warning complete, Alexandria's gaze fell on the soldier Zhaoyang had ignored. "Now then," she said in a harsh tone, her grip on her staff tightening. She raised it slightly, almost like a bat, before cracking it forward. The wood released a burst of flower petals, but otherwise the attack was normal. Alexandria did not react.

Alec was unfazed by the tiger's assault. He brushed a little bit of dust off of his shoulder and fixed his monocle "Liam, if you would." The soldier did not hesitate in lifting his shield. His gaze sharpened on the tiger who had just taken out one of his guards. "So the kitty has a few tricks?" He didn't wait for a response, flipping a page and placing his hand on the book once more. "Perilous flames, arise! Fires of hell release the shrieks of the damned!" he chanted, the earth below him ripping open and releasing a torrent of terrible flame upon Zhaoyang.

Alec casts Spirit Flicker on Zhaoyang! 15 Int Fire Damage! -10% for Five Turns!

The flames died down after several moments, but the screaming of the damned remained on Zhaoyang's person. Alec's gaze then fell upon Alexandria. "You words lack bite." His eyes darted over to the other soldiers who had done little thus far. "Benjamin, Joshua, attack command Helen." he ordered.

"Tricks?" Zhaoyang snarled. He felt the pain of course, he was down to his last breaths and he knew it. But he didn't care. Today, right now, his threats were doubly potent. He meant every word and he would make sure this insolent worm of a human would fear him for years to come. "Tricks?" His voice rumbled, carrying an impossible weight behind it. The tiger felt practically blind with rage but he could see perfectly. He seethed with the emotion, feeling it build like energy, yet different. "I WILL SHOW YOU TRICKS YOU SIMPERING INSOLENT DOG!" He roared, radiating heat that melted snow several meters around him into puddles. Then suddenly he exploded, or that's what it looked like, into a bright light who's shockwave permeated everything yet seemed only to harm their enemies.

Zhaoyang casts Flare [-15 MP]! 23 Int (Light) damage to all enemies!

Zhaoyang moves to F-4.

Darragh immediately shielded his eyes as his ally exploded in a burst of bright, white light. He didn't feel anything as it passed through, so he had no idea what exactly happened until the light faded and he opened his eyes. It appeared to have seared all the soldiers, save for Alec of course, and the one shielding him seemed to have taken the most damage because of it. But Zhaoyang had also taken severe damage, and it seemed he was wrong that the girl had needed his protection. There was nothing for it but to shield him instead. As he did so, he spoke aloud to Alec. "I think I'd heed 'is words, mate."

Darragh uses Guard [-5 MP] on Zhaoyang! Zhaoyang is now Covered!

Alexandria frowned as Alec made a very powerful counter attack. She grimaced when the other soldiers followed suit leaving Zhao on his last legs. Even though he returned with a powerful attack of his own, she worried immensely. Both sides were able to dish out some heavy damage, and at this point it was impossible to tell who would win. Not making it out of here alive worried the refugee greatly.

Alexandria moves to D5!

Alexandria casts Cure on Zhaoyang! 11 Int Healing!

Despite the rampant destruction going on around him, Alec still remained unshaken by the catastrophe. He shrugged his shoulders and flipped to yet another page in his book. "Unimpressive." he stated disinterestedly. His hand found its place on the page and then over to the guard who had been covering him. "Circle of Life! Earth bestow your mercy upon me!" The earth began to shake and then a flurry of blossoms gathered around the injured man.

Alec casts Nature Spread on Liam! 14 Int Earth Healing!

Liam heals 14 Hp!

Alec gains 1 IP!

He almost looked like he was unharmed. Almost. If one looked closely enough, the guard's injuries were still present, but for the most part healed. Alec's glance fell on the Lancer once more. "A mistake on your part," he pointed over to Alex who was directly in range of the other soldiers. "She who plays support must never be left unguarded. Joshua, Benjamin." Benjamin was quick in following his orders, only to miss; Joshua, confused by the attack made by the tiger, however, ran down and struck at Alec, only to damage Liam.

Zhao smiled strangely at the young man, rage lighting his blue eyes in an almost insane way. He was eerily quiet when he spoke, a direct contrast to his roaring not seconds ago. "I have sworn vengeance on creatures ten times greater than you in power, and swiftly carried it out." The tiger merely turned to glare at the soldier to his left, concentration unneeded in this frightful rage as a blazing trail of fire blasted through him and the other behind. His gaze drifted back to Alec. "It is you who is unimpressive."

Zhaoyang casts Burning gaze [-12 MP] on Joshua! 25 Int (Fire) damage! Liam is also hit!

The Lancer grinned. "Oh, I'm not worried 'bout 'er." He casually leaned an elbow on her shoulder, though not actually placing any of his weight on the girl. "Lass 'n easily take care o' herself, as you c'n plainly see." Oh, he was definitely not worried. Truly, what powerful allies had he come across, or rather that had found him. Sure, Alec wouldn't go down easily, but his little guards were hardly a match for the enraged tiger, and he looked as if he was only getting started. "Honestly, such children they've started recruitin'. None nearly as qualified as I am . . . aren't these ya personal guard?" His dark eyes practically glittered with amusement. These poor idiots weren't nearly as good at the job as the Lancer, and somehow they'd passed him up for promotion. It probably had something to do with the little rebellious streak he had going, but honestly. This was ridiculous. Ridiculously hilarious.

Alexandria casts Cure on Zhaoyang! 11 Int Healing!

Alexandria did not move to remove the Lancer's slight weight from her shoulder. She had no complaint. And he was certainly right, the men that were guarding Alec had little to no experience clearly. They had come close, for sure, but they ended up fighting each other rather than their true enemy. And still Alec wasn't bothered by this? She couldn't understand it, but then again, she didn't try to. She merely showered Zhao in more healing light so that if something should happen he would be alright.

He did not say anything this time, but the screeches of the damned broke through the earth and released another torrent of flame. The fires flew over Zhaoyang and past Alex to collide with the lancer.

The Lancer grunted at the sharp impacts of the two soldiers' attacks, moving to the side instinctively. "I'd appreciate a bit o' that healing, girl." He murmured, voice low and strained. He could understand why she'd chosen to heal the tiger, perhaps she didn't realize that he was actually taking all the damage meant for the furious creature. But, right now, he was a little more concerned for himself. If he wasn't still standing to take the assault to Alec himself, he'd be letting them down, and so early too. Regardless, he moved past the skinny girl, knowing his skills were better put to use protecting than attacking. With shaking fingers, he grabbed his pipe again and dragged in a deep breath of its healing smoke, making a blueish cloud around himself when he exhaled.

Darragh moves to E-4.

Darragh casts Relax [-12 MP] on himself! Recovers 10% Max HP and grants Shell! Also hits Alexandria and Zhaoyang!

Really, Zhao should've been used to being ignored by now, but the blatant disregard this man held for him only served to further infuriate him. His pride simply wouldn't allow him to react with anything less than righteous fury! How dare this mere human be so arrogant in his presence. The white tiger's body lit up with white and sky blue energy, glowing eyes casting an impressive image through the haze of dark blue smoke. He growled and roared imperiously, clearing the smoke in front of him swiftly with a line of fire reaching for the skies, and immediately another one after it, both searing through the stupid human.

Behind him, Darragh raised an impressed eyebrow, having never seen Zhao resort to this before. There were a lot of things he decided he'd ask once this was over with.

"Coming up." Alexandria responded with a nod, placing her staff to the ground once more and letting the light wash over the lancer. He had taken the brunt of quite a few attacks, and it surprised her that he was still standing. The guards, after all, had broken through his armor, which looked surprisingly strong as it was. Making sure they didn't get the chance to fell him made it easier for them.

"I wasn't expecting to take any damage." he said in an eerily quiet tone. "But there is little to fear," he flipped to another page in his book "It seems you've no power left to use." He slammed his hand down on the page, not saying anything, but causing a violent purple glow to emanate from himself. Words spiraled off of the page and surrounded him in a strange veil of magic.

In the heat of the moment, Alec unveils the true power hidden within tomes! Scholar's Enigma!

The energy pulsated around Alec violently, twisting and turning itself into perfect form around him. He flipped through the pages once more, moving as he did, and when he came to the proper one, forced his hand down on the page. A burst of turquoise light exploded from the book and shot into the air before releasing a powerful downpour of water over all of his enemies.

The white tiger lifted his head and moved it to the side briefly, his version of a shrug. "It does not matter, you will fall regardless." Noticing finally that the others seemed to be having trouble with the last soldier, he took a few steps closer to Alex and sent a writhing swath of crackling blue energy at him. With that taken care of, they could all finally focus on Alec and win this. That man would taste the full brunt of his wrath before this over.

"Thank ya." Darragh replied, tipping his head in respect. He took one of their collective potions from . . . somewhere and lifted his faceplate. "Now you worr' 'bout him. Somethin' we can do about that low energy?" After completing his hinting question, he downed the potion without so much as a grimace and tossed the empty cordial aside.

"I think I've got something up my sleeve." Alexandria quipped, unusually happy with how things were going. True, they were stuck in the middle of combat with a very powerful adversary, but they had gotten rid of his little guard force. Even with how powerful Alec was, there was no way he could defeat them now, what with their powerful protective shields. Pulling a spice from her dress, she placed it near Zhaoyang's nose so that the aroma could fill him with newfound energy.

A burst of pale green light lifted from the page, and when Alec thrust his hand in Alexandria's direction, it flew at her. A powerful wind struck her immediately.

"Don't you touch her." Zhao warned lowly, voice thundering from his chest. He had literally killed others for less, and absolutely destroyed others. "Why all of you are so intent on ignoring my threats is beyond me. Is there some rule of idiocy in this country I'm not aware of?" It's as if all the world had gone mad when he wasn't looking. That was a thought that struck him for a moment: what if it had, after his fall? What if all of this madness was the aftermath of the King of Stars falling from grace? Mortal beings would only be so arrogant if they believed that they were the masters of their world, instead of the lesser servants that they were made to be. Truly they required guidance if this was what the world fell to in his absence. It made his quest to return home even more paramount.

"Perhaps it is high time you mortals be put in your place." The Star stepped forward, drawing in a deep breath and roaring as before. It called forth thunder that boomed in the distance, gaining until it was deafening and a bright crash of lightning struck down on Alec. With any luck, the young man would be disabled, his nerves screaming with the extra electricity.

Zhaoyang casts Thunder Blast [-12 MP] on Alec! 23 Int (Thunder) damage! 60% chance of Paralysis!

Darragh had to agree with the tiger. The feline seemed quite capable of following through on his promises, even without being able to cast his rather flashy spells. But they had an honest battle now, what with all the fodder out of the way. He patted the girl's shoulder for a moment, then slid down his helmet's visor and moved away, saying, "Take care o' yaself now." He wasted no time in attacking his former higher in command once in range. Well, slowly attacked, but it would do some damage if it connected.

Alexandria managed to pull herself together after the man's attack. It had been extremely painful, moreso than she had been expecting with the shield Darragh had set up. But it had been bearable. The fact that she was still standing made her all the more hopeful. They would not fall to the hands of this man. They simply wouldn't.

"I'd prefer to take my new coat last." he huffed, flipping through pages in his book once more. When he stopped he slammed his hand down on the page, a violent burnt-orange glow surging into the ground. The earth ripped open and once again the residents of hell released their anguish, only this time the power flew towards Alexandria.

As the flames began to die away, Alec's gaze remained fixed on the refugee. His smile was one of venomous delight. "Even with that shield of yours, you will fall." His eyes darted back to the giant tiger. "And I will do with her as I like."

At the man's taunting words, Zhao saw red. He moved the last few feet til he was standing next to the human and actually lashed out with a huge paw, claws shimmering with white and blue energy as it connected. "We'll see who makes a coat out of who, CUR!"

The Lancer wasn't really all that surprised when the scholar dodged out of the way of his lance. What did surprise him was the bare-faced insult he threw at the tiger. Zhaoyang's reaction was, to say the least, proportionate. If he had claws and powers like that, he'd have done the same. He swung his lance hard, aiming for the man's midriff, and pulled back. "Mate, you must be off your rocker if'n ya think you're gettin' outta this alive." He shook his head, more than a little disbelieving. "Or at least severely injured."

Alexandria braced herself as the flames burned her to her core. Even with the shield the pain was unbearable, and when the effects finally faded she felt weak. Her very soul quaked and she felt like crying. But she would not. She struck her staff to the ground and reformed the barrier, trying to maintain some sort of composure.

Alec merely called up his barrier to absorb the force of the attack against him. It seemed to be working for him, he still strained but it wasn't much greater than before. "Is that all you have? I'm disappointed." he remarked coldly, his eyes refocusing on Alexandria. They drifted, however, upon seeing her put up another magical barrier. The man's eyes fell on Darragh, who would take damage for the tiger and himself. He could hit them all with one attack. Flipping through his book, he stopped on another page and slammed his hand down against it again. As before, another burst of turquoise light shot into the air and released a downpour.

Darragh sank to one knee under the force of the unyielding water, leaning against his tall weapon for support. "Ngh . . ." He panted, pulling himself back up with some effort. But, as he looked up at Alec, his eyes betrayed that he was still smiling. "I think you're forgettin' something." He uncorked another potion, using it as a gesture as he raised it. "This 'as been my job for a long time, DelAccore. You'll 'ave to do better 'an that."

Darragh took damage! R-Ability: This Only Gets Harder activates! Stats increased by 5%. (Now at +20%)

Darragh uses a Potion on himself! Recovers 20 HP!

For a moment, the tiger had thought he'd lost yet another ally to an enemy of his, but miraculously the lancer still stood. Zhao was beyond impressed with this one. Darragh would surely earn a place amongst the stars, with such valiance and courage he displayed. With renewed rage (when had he ever run out?), he struck the scholar again, determined to wear him down.

The refugee's shield had prevented the water from coming down on her too harshly but... "Darragh!" she cried as he took not only one but two horrible torrents of magical water. Without thinking, she drew her pistol from its holster and fired off a round at the mage while also slamming her staff into the ground. A powerful shield of light appeared around Darragh only to fade from existence moments later.

In the heat of the moment, Alexandria throws caution to the wind to protect what matters most! Saving Grace!

"I've had enough of this." He simply wasn't doing enough damage with claws alone, regardless of how they were empowered. So instead of attacking this time, he pulled out one of their spices, dropped it on the ground then snatched it up in his mouth, not bothering to just sniff it. Alex would take care of herself for now, but for once he had no doubts that she could. It was why he spared her no words this time around.

"Couldn' agree more, friend." Darragh also decided now was the best time to recuperate. He could stand there and try to attack, but he would be much better off healing himself, shielding the white tiger as he was. He grabbed another potion, noting that this one looked a bit different from the others he'd drank, and knocked it back. He hmm'd as it was decidedly sweeter than the others. The lancer gazed at the little phial for a moment before tossing it away too.

It took several moments for Alexandria to register what she had just done. It made her happy. She didn't even care that the flames had burned her to her very core. The fact that she had not only saved Darragh from any further torture, but also landed a particularly heavy hit on Alec made her feel... strong. "This power..." she murmured, feeling even more bubbling deep inside of her. She tapped her staff on the ground, a myriad of lights washing over herself, healing her greatest injuries.

Alexandria casts Cure on herself! 11 Int Healing!

Before anyone could say anything, she was on the move. She dashed over to where her allies had positioned themselves and stopped only to fire off another bullet. It tore through the air, right past Zhao and landed in Alec's arm. The man cringed, the magic veil he conjured faltering slightly before it got to work. "What's the matter? Losing your edge?"

It was an evil laugh. The very malice and horrible poisons laced within it only grew more intense as he raised his hand and brought it down on the page. There was a brilliant orange glow as he raised his hand and then flung it in Alexandria's direction. Horrendous screams of the damned broke forth once more, only this time two streams of flame flew at Alexandria at breakneck speeds.

"ENOUGH." The snow swirled street ignited in high white flames, scorching everything beyond sight until only the Star and the scholar were in a place of darkness filled with thousands of bright specks of light. In this place, Zhaoyang was truly godlike and a sight to behold, wreathed in incandescent flames and outright blazing with power. "I see you for what you are, Alec DelAccore." His voice echoed in this place, seeming to come from everywhere at once. "You are a cruel and sightless pawn, arrogant to your very core." The great being's face lowered into the human's. "Be judged and fear my wrath!" He inhaled and roared like an erupting volcano, the sound of shattering glass echoing behind it as the conjured realm faded, leaving them back in the deserted street.

Darragh moves to G-4.

The lancer stumbled backwards as an unreal roar resonated throughout the place. "The hell was that?!" He exclaimed, brandishing his lance in bewilderment. He received no answer from the tiger, who just stood there staring down DelAccore. Oh, he was definitely asking some questions when this done with.

Whereas Darragh was left to stumble backwards at the sight of Zhao using his ultimate ability, Alexandria dashed forward to take his spot. Not hesitating in the slightest she tossed her gun up into the air and made a wide swinging motion with her staff. She pulled back just in time to catch her gun, taking quick aim and firing right at the scholar. "Goodbye!"

Despite all of the punishment he endured, Alec remained standing there, a veil of blue magic surrounding him. As it dissipated into nothingness, his nightmarish smile remained attached to his face, his crimson eyes filled with burning hatred. He closed his book calmly causing more evil laughter took over him releasing itself in a hellish torrent of terror-inducing chortles. He began to float up off of the ground, cackling as he swayed in a torrent of horrid energy.

Alec moves to G8!

"So...." His voice screeched out over the laughter which somehow happened simultaneously. "You've gotten me down this far." He continued, the laughter dying away, his floating remaining locked to a single position. "No one has ever done that before..." his grip on his book released and it hovered out in front of him "I WILL NOT FALL NOW!!!!!!!" His voice became an abhorrent mess as his book suddenly exploded in a torrent of blackness. "Gods unleash your judgement! Skies catch fire and earth freeze beneath us! Make life an unbearable torture!" his voice wasn't human anymore, just a ungodly shriek that rang out and caused the earth to shake.

What came next could only be described as pandemonium.

Alec unleashes pandemonium forcing all who live peacefully under his Punishment! 14 Piercing Darkness Damage!

Alexandria... INSTANT DEATH!

The white tiger snarled loudly as his companions both dropped, this time one of them for good. He heard Darragh shouting something at him, but he didn't really hear, only rearing up to roar once more at the floating scholar. He swiped a paw through the air, as if attempting to strike him from where he stood, but a brilliant beam of light struck down on the scholar and scorched him.

The lancer, having dropped his weapon, picked it up again and tried to support himself with it. "Geh, take him . . take 'im down now!" He shouted, but the tiger was already on the offensive. It wasn't enough. The fallen knight picked himself up and dragged his body forward, not stopping until he was just in front of and below the scholar. "That's enough outta you . ." He growled, exhaustion roughening his voice. He swung the lance up and let it fall, hopefully taking down the maddened man with what was sure to be his last blow if he failed.
