Lightning quickly shifted forms and threw a ball of healing light at the fallen Terra as she made her way over to the fallen Treants. She was able to easily rip off two strips of the marble bark they held. It was not as much as she would have liked, but any amount would help. Turning to her allies, she nodded at the sight of Terra getting to his feet and casting a healing spell of his own.

Alyssia nodded and proceeded forward with the rest of them. Cerberus deigned not return to the shadows for fear of future threats. As they reached the clearing where they had the showdown with Constantine, it was proven that Cerberus had done the right thing. In the middle of the clearing was another central activation unit. Alyssia groaned. "Damn, there are so many of these things," she said, taking out her blade. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a marble treant. It watched them, but didn't make any efforts to prepare itself for battle. "I wonder what its deal is...," Alyssia murmured aloud before focusing on the task at hand.

Alyssia surveyed the area. The unit was alone. Her eyes widened as she realized what was going to happen. "Guys, better prepare yourselves!" she called out in warning to her allies. The thing was going to explode. With nothing else to bolster, it didn't really have much of a choice. It was something she had noted in all the battles they had with these particular constructs. Raising a hand into the air, she felt a blast of wondrous wind surge around her in a small twister before dissipating almost as quickly as it had come. She felt at peace, and it was this peace that would come to aid her in bearing the brunt of the machine's powerful attack.

Cerberus heeded his master's warning, bounding forth before coming to a halt near the machine. All heads gazing into the sky, the beast unleashed a mighty howl. The shadows in the area seemed to resonated fiercely, expanding and stretching, dancing and snaking their way towards Cerberus before surging upwards with great force, enveloping him in a column of darkness. After a moment or two, it shrunk down a bit forming a thick veil around him. Only a few features could be seen, most noticeable being his eyes, now glowing a brilliant red.

Terra quickly raised his blade into the air and prepared himself absentmindedly while speaking to the treant. "Excuse me, sir. Are you alright?"

From the ground, sharp bones emerged and surrounded her, endeavoring to augment her attacks with their own.

With a heavy heart, he responded once again. Dakor watched as the activation unit was totaled by the efforts of the group. He felt comfort in the fact that they were doing the forest such a huge favor by taking down the leftover machines. With a heavy heart, he responded once again. "Yes, many of my brethren have succumbed to madness, but perhaps those of us who have remained civil can convince them to go back to the way they were, now that many of the machines have been destroyed. We can work on getting things back on track." A shudder traversed his rigid form before he spoke again. "Since you are the ones, I feel I must tell you: the man you defeated...he is not dead. Something...shrouded in a light I could not see through came to collect the scientist--brought him back from the abyss of true death. When he had recovered, the two disappeared." The treant paused for a moment. "I...I just have a horrible feeling about all of this..."

After making sure that the unit was fully disabled, Alyssia flew quickly over to the treant. The unit was a wreck, completely short-circuited by all the electricity and water, not to mention the scorch marks from Cerberus's flames. Alyssia touched ground and gazed curiously at the treant standing before her and the others. "Please tell me you're joking," she stated flatly after a few moments of thinking. "You're saying that nutjob Constantine is wandering around somewhere? Who in their right mind would bring him back?! There must be another nutjob out there that we don't know about." Her rant completed, Alyssia gave off a rather loud huff. The battle with the persistent scientist had been a rough one. What if he started trouble again? They'd be back where they started.
"I'm afraid it's no joke," Dakor replied solemnly, his branches attempting to droop, but their rigidity held strong. "I wish it were. That man brought great evil into these wondrous woods. And now everyone in Amoria is at risk; anyone could be the next victim to his crazy experiments."

"This isn't good." Terra stated, obviously, after a couple minutes, a frown set on his usually bright face. "He's... unstable... lost to the darkness; there's no way we could help him now." He continued rather pessimistically, his eyes shifting towards the wreckage of the activation unit.
"There wasn't any helping him." Lightning spoke up after surveying the damage done to the machine. Not even a single usable part to be found, the entire thing destroyed beyond belief. This marked roughly the fifth time they had fought that type of thing and found nothing salvageable; it was unnerving to say the least.
"And by the sound of it, someone with a very strong light is helping him..." The boy was muttering now, bringing a hand to his chin as he began to ponder something. He stood rather strongly in this position, still muttering to himself. "I doubt anyone of good nature would do such a thing, especially if they were using the light." Terra reasoned after a moment, eyes shifting back to his allies before focusing in on Alyssia. "Is there anyone living down there that has affinity for light? I'm sorry for my ignorance, but I know little of the denizens of Hell."

"Oh boy," Alyssia initially said in response to Terra's question before she realized it might have been a bit rude. "You don't have to apologize; I only said that because there are quite a few denizens of Hell. Remembering some of them brings back other memories," she explained, giving a quaint nervous laugh. Bringing her hand to her mouth and coughing, she cleared her throat as she began. "You wouldn't think it, but yes; there are denizens of Hell that have an affinity for light. The main ones are those who dwell at the Fringe, or the very edges of Hell. We're talking sections that border neutral zones like the Purgatorium and the Eternal Meadows. They're beings like me. They may as well be angels. Most are winged, and none can be truly classified as demons. They mainly keep boundaries as such: boundaries. Those not free to cross are punished. Pursuers are ones that chase down lost souls who seek to escape Hell to reach Purgatorium, as an example." Alyssia thought some more, tapping her foot against the ground.

"Oh..." he sounded rather disappointed that she was not behind this mess "I guess she's not behind this then..." Shaking the thought from his head, he looked slightly offended as he ran Alyssia's explanation through his mind once more. "I can't believe the light would allow them to use it like that..." He sounded hurt for some strange reason, as if by using the light they were also using him.

The treant shook for a moment in protest. "You have done a great justice for this wood regardless, and for that, I believe you should be rewarded," Dakor said quickly. "I believe you may have been looking for this?" The treant began shaking again, only this time, much more violently. Opening his mouth, a low guttural sound escaping from within until the treant coughed sending a strange orb flying out of his mouth and right into Alyssia's hands. "And..." Something fell from the sky; it was a small pouch full of gold. It must have been hanging from one of his branches.
Alyssia was still fumbling the orb, but managed to catch the orb with some luck. "It's no worry. We're just glad we were able to do something for you and your friends and family," Alyssia replied. She was pleased with the rewards, but something inside her seemed to enjoy the fact that the treants would be happier now. "Guess we'll head back to town before setting off for Heaven's Tower. I hope Torcrea doesn't mind out little detour. Something tells me he wouldn't. After all, he's the master of all things involving justice." With that, the group headed back to Diasen to make the final preparations they needed before moving on to their next destination.

Without waiting for him to respond, the soldier took off on ahead in direction of the item shop. The boy hastily followed along behind her, not offering a word as they entered the shop and she gathered the wares. When she turned to leave, he nodded at the shopkeeper and slipped money on the counter in her steed then turned on his heel to follow her.

He smiled at the sight, trying his best to be sincere but she ignored him and paid for their clothing.

Alyssia meandered off alone. It was a good thing Lightning thought ahead, keeping an eye on Terra. If anything had happened like last time...she just couldn't bear it. The boy had looked like a complete wreck. He seemed to be acting just fine since their little revisit to the Marble Forest, and she was relieved at that. The girl entered the weapon shop to pick up something for Cerberus. Large metal teeth, perfect for her friend. She knew he loved to chomp on things.

Her next stop was the armory. They had some replacement plates for Cerberus, so she picked them up without a second thought. Though able to call on the powers of darkness to protect himself, she knew it took a lot out of his reservoir of mana. After browsing around a bit, she managed to find a little something for herself as well. It was something she had seen the females in the town wearing. She didn't mind the look, even if she liked her old outfit better. There was no sacrifice too great for a good defense.

Her last stop was the synthesis lab. It was there that she ran into Lightning as she was leaving. Alyssia offered her a quick nod. "I've pretty much got everything. This is my last stop; I won't be long," she said with a soft smile before entering the building herself. The man behind the counter was pleased to see the materials she had laid out for her. It didn't take him long to come up with a crafty design with them. Taking them into the back, he worked for a bit before bringing out the grand result, something Alyssia was extremely pleased with. It was then that she began discussing something with the man: something concerning a new outfit for Terra. She had caught a brief glimpse of the boy running off to the weapon shop in something she found to be rather distasteful. The synthesist affirmed the design and got started on it right away, returning with another pleasing result.

It didn't take him long to come up with a crafty design with them. Taking them into the back, he worked for a bit before bringing out the grand result, something Alyssia was extremely pleased with. It was then that she began discussing something with the man: something concerning a new outfit for Terra. She had caught a brief glimpse of the boy running off to the weapon shop in something she found to be rather distasteful. The synthesist affirmed the design and got started on it right away, returning with another pleasing result.

Rushing out the shop, she hoped to see Lightning still around. It turned out she took a bit longer than expected causing her to sigh a bit. "I'd hate to be known as a liar."

"It's not a problem." the soldier affirmed with a nod in her ally's direction. Her gaze briefly fell on the items that had not been in the Gatekeeper's possession prior to her visit to the synthesist shop; a rather impressive blade and an angelic costume, presumably for Terra. "That must be better than what he's wearing." she commented, glancing over at the Actor who nodded with a small smile.
"It's much nicer," Terra stated, moving over to inspect the garment "I just hope that the angels don't mistake me for one of their own." He let out a light chuckle at his joke, to which Lightning only smirked slightly. His laughter quickly faded away after a moment and he eagerly took hold of the clothing. With a wave of his hand light enveloped his form, when it faded he was wearing the costume that had been so kindly gifted to him. His free hand held the previous garment for only a moment before it disappeared in a flash, quite unlike the light he had summoned. Assuming it to be the work of the synthesist, the boy shrugged it off and proceeded to check himself out, spinning around slightly to get a feel for it.

Alyssia was happy to see Terra pleased with his new outfit. "I think it's very fitting," she said lightheartedly. "You're a good soul; you may as well be an angel." Alyssia turned her gaze towards the northwest where she could see the Heaven's Tower reaching upwards into the sky of Amoria. It was there that they would be able to meet Torcrea at last. She took in a deep breath before facing the others. "Are you guys ready to set out? Heaven's Tower is just within our reach."

Of course, there was figuring out what plan of action would be taken against Nihdestra, but what about the siphoning of the souls? What was the exact cause? Was Nihdestra truly behind it? For many years she called Nihdestra master. Despite the thoughts of many, she knew him to be just as fair as Torcrea. He was actually rather similar to Torcrea, almost like they were brothers, even though she knew that to be false. The history was that Torcrea created Nihdestra of his own free will--he needed something to undo what he created to form a natural cycle. It was this very cycle that Mana would be pleased with. Lost in her thoughts, she shook herself out of it as she awaited the response of her friends.
