Patrice just shrugged off the girl's pathetic magic attack and glared at her. "I am one with the earth; it has given me the power to control it, and have me act as a vessel for it. I love the earth...and it loves me in return," Patrice closed her eyes and stated meditatively before opening them again, still glaring. "But what the hell am I telling a stupid bitch like you for? You couldn't understand. Not with weak magic like that!" She slammed her palm into the ship causing it to quake in her immediate vicinity. Anything nearby would be stunned by her magic.

"You see there? It's called power. The earth gives it to me. I don't need to see you to hit you; you just have to be stupid enough to get too close," Patrice explained flippantly. Her mana was still flowing strong, so she'd be spellcasting for a bit longer.

The green aura surrounding her blazed to life and a cascade of sharp leaves embedded themselves in her target who decided he'd prefer to receive the spell at point blank range. "The earth protects me. Remember that."

Luca delivered two more strikes to the spazzing fish woman. Her attempt to do major damage to her ally and self was overall unimpressive. Why, the attack had barely hit her for anything, and while she wasn't too sure about Patrice, she figured things were alright.

Looking around her, Patrice realized that a pretty nasty storm had come to pay them a visit. She'd have to get used to things like that; weather at sea was always changing. Sunny one minute, raining the next. The lightning was coming down so hard, it was starting to become a hazard. Patrice lunged at the fish man with her mace and rammed it into his gut. Whether the storm would help or hurt from there on out depended on luck. They'd just have to be careful.

"MOTHER FUCK, THAT HURT!!!!!!" Patrice wailed and started bashing everything in her immediate vicinity with her mace, inadvertently striking the paralyzed fish man. Though still shaking from the shock, she was certainly pleased with the way things were turning out. She was even cursing like a pirate now, too. All she needed now was a talking parrot and scurvy and she'd be all set. Ew, maybe I'll save scurvy for another day, she thought as she managed to gather her thoughts despite the surprising jolt of electricity from the sky.

Damn the lightning was starting to mess with her system. She felt like she wouldn't be able to move at all if she kept getting hit. Forcing herself over to the fish man, she made a quick slash at him and followed up with a stab.

Another bolt of lightning struck her, but it wasn't so bad the second time. The fish guys were seemingly more affected by the lightning than she was. Two more stabs were made at the fish man. Whatever his armor was made out of, it sure did the trick for repelling unwanted strike. It was just as bad as the military idiots. Sighing, Luca prepared for lightning to strike, as if she could evade it.

"This is the end for you, good sir! Nya!" she growled, smiling an evil smile. It was time for the finishing touch. Without so much as a grain of mercy, the young girl shoved her mace right into the groin of the fish man. She was sure it would be hurting for at least a weak or two. She ground it up in there. If she was lucky, there would probably be splinters left behind. Either way, it was truly the end for the poor chap.

Patrice moves to F4.

"The final blow, here we go!" Patrice exclaimed as she leapt into the air, flipped, and smacked the remaining fish guy in the head with her mace as hard as she could. The wood composing the mace nearly cracked because of the force she used to execute the attack. They seemed pretty intent to win, so she was going to be just as persistent.

Just as the fishmen and fishwoman had been slain, things seemed as if everything would be alright. At least for a moment. In a second the storm that had raged during the last part of the battle grew worse and worse. The water churned and swirled, the wind howling evilly. And in a second a large wall of water came flying at the ship, knocking the crew to one side before all went black.

...

Luca was the first to awake, upon the sandy shore they had washed up on. Her head throbbed with pain as she tried to come to. Clutching her head, she dared to look around, expecting to see the ruined Bakala or her friend dead as a doornail. But there were no gruesome sights waiting for her that day. For the Bakala had washed ashore with them, and Patrice was none too far away from her. And for once... something horrible had actually been made into a miracle.

What had happened? Patrice felt like she was floating on air. She refused to open her eyes. Her thoughts formed vivid images in her mind, and she watched, or more appropriately termed, remembered a giant wall of water crashing into her...and Luca...and the poor, dinky Bakala that had won against the Serpent's Pass. Her worry caused her to stir, and instead of seeing the brilliant light of Heaven, the blazing light of the sun filled her eyes instead and she flinced before sitting up suddenly, clutching her head and rubbing her eyes.

"..." She was silent before muttering something that sounded like complete nonsense. That's when she took a look around. They were safe. She thought 'they' because there was Luca, alive, and there was the Bakala, probably not in the best shape, but not completely destroyed, so that was a good thing. She managed to slowly stand up and stumble over to Luca.

"D-do you know....where we are?" she asked, her voice weak. Her body was a bit tired, but she had apparently been out cold for a while because the weariness didn't bother her too terribly.

"I... I don't know... I... uh... let's see..."

She spoke absentmindedly reaching into her soaked clothing pockets and pulling out a drenched map. Opening up the waterlogged parchment, she tried to make out what was left of her map, finding herself without luck.

"Oh..."

She sighed, still only half paying attention to what she was doing. Putting the map away she took a moment to look around still absentmindedly. But then she nodded turning to face her friend.

"I... I think... we should decide if we want to look around... or try and fix the Bakala and sail to the nearest port. What do you think?"

Patrice glanced around wearily. She wasn't really interested in doing anything too particularly extrenuous at the moment, so she decided wandering around for a bit couldn't hurt. The Bakala wasn't going anywhere...maybe. She doubt anyone would steal the wreck...if there were anyone around at all. Besides, her spirit of adventure was providing a bit of motivation for her, allowing her to better ignore her fatigue.

"How about we look around here first and try to find out where we are? We can keep an eye for materials along the way," Patrice suggested, laughing uneasily. She felt a bit faint, but shook off the feeling. "If we're really lucky, we'll find someone who might just be happening to pass through this area who can point us in the direction of a town or something," she concluded. Once again, if there was a town. The point resounding within her own mind was that there wasn't anything to be lost by exploring the area first. It would be the greatest opportunity to walk off the pain. Being around nature always revitalized her anyway, having close ties with the earth and all.

"If that doesn't sound like a good idea, allow me to pass out for a while longer and we can focus on fixing the Bakala then," she stated wearily, her eyes whirling around slowly as if she were confused.

"Okay. Let's look around then. If there's a town here we could probably just buy whatever materials we need.."

With a nod of final agreement, Luca looked over to the inland, grimacing slightly. The farther in they went, the more likely it would be that vegetation would become a problem for them. Especially since they didn't know what to expect of this place and the life that was either here or not here. But they would have to do something eventually, and if Patrice wanted to venture out from the safe shore, then so be it.

And so they headed into the growth inland, Luca making use of her newfound weapon to cut through the overgrowing vines, doing her best to be quick about it. She knew Patrice probably wouldn't like her destroying nature, but she hoped that her friend understood that it was either the plants or them.

It wasn't long until they came to a clearing, in which they could take a small rest from the walking and searching.

"We can stop here for awhile, I'll take a quick look around and we can get going once you're ready."

And with that said, Luca disappeared a little further into the growth of vines and thorns, straying just a little for a quick scouting mission. But as she went around the small area, she found she couldn't stay attached to the secluded area, and ventured further. All the while trying to stay anchored, but failing.

The supposed "quick look around" turned into roughly thirteen minutes of Luca wandering, venturing further from the spot until she came to a second clearing, much like the previous. But unlike the other, there was one thing different here: a woman, not much older than herself (if that), standing turned away from her.

"Where'd she go? That little fish bitch is gonna pay."

"Uh... excuse me?"

The woman turned, instantly pointing a blade at the young captain, her eyes sharpening.

"Who are you? What are you doing sneaking around here?"

Luca's expression remained one of complete and utter calmness.

"I could be asking you the same."

"I asked you first."

"Had to take refuge from the storm."

The woman raised an eyebrow, but then nodded, returning the blade to her side, turning back around.

"And your name?"

"Lu... Luna. Now... as you've had your questions I have mine. What's going on here?"

"That's none of your business I'm afraid."

Now the situation was reversed, Luca pointing her rapier at the woman instantly. The woman, however, did not turn nor did she flinch, she merely began to move.

"Put that silly thing away. I wouldn't want you to get hurt."

Luca didn't move, she kept the blade pointed at the woman, who kept moving. The young captain followed closely, not daring to miss a step, almost like a dance between the two.

"I repeat: What's going on?"

The woman muttered something under her breath, before turning around, reaching for her blade herself. But she stopped short and her hand moved to the white cloth lump at her side. Pulling it free from her side, she whispered something and suddenly, Luca's eye sight began to dim slightly. The woman moved closer, holding the lump out in front of her, still whispering, Luca's sight still dimming.

"I'm sorry, but you should have listened."

And her sight dimmed to complete darkness.

Meanwhile, in the previous clearing, a rustle came from the outer growth, drawing closer. It appeared that Patrice would have some company soon, good or bad. If it was Luca, it wasn't obvious.

Just as expected, Patrice was fully revitalized and grinning happily upon reaching the clearing. Through the entire walk, the plant life spoke secrets to her, though she merely listened and paid no heed. Luca probably thought she was crazy enough. She was dead set on hacking through the foliage, a necessary sacrifice. Patrice kept the memory of the fallen in her mind, but knew that all plantlife would regrow eventually, so she moved on without much regret. Though her fatigue from the wreck had worn off, now the young girl was a bit tired from walking. She plopped down on the cool earth.

"I'll keep watch here then," Patrice said and gave her friend a reassuring smile as she set off. Patrice was alone and decided to listen to the dancing of the leaves upon the trees. She sighed. "This place is really quiet." She crossed her legs and closed her eyes, beginning to meditate--to connect fully with nature. It seemed as though Luca was either having fun or being extremely delayed by the thick vegetation. A rustling nearby alerted Patrice and she opened her eyes immediately.

"You finally made it back?" Patrice asked aloud, standing up and brushing off her clothes. She faced the direction the noise was coming from. "You fought through that much vegetation, so hack your way back here quick. Did you manage to find anything?" She awaited patiently for her friend to break through and enter the clearing, though her hand nonchalantly reached for her mace.

The rustling stopped the second the Pirate Sage spoke, as if the person on the other end froze with fear. But before things could turn suspicious, the rustling began again, the mass of plants pushed aside. A small girl stepped through, her aqua colored eyes filled with fear as she took in the sight of the other person in the clearing.

"You... you're not her..."

The girl took a couple shaky steps towards Patrice, her eyes welling with tears as she moved. But these weren't tears of joy, though one could not say they were tears of sadness either. It was a mixture of shock and relief as the girl suddenly was at the young pirate's feet, thanking her through sobs.

"You're really not her."
