The Path Less Traveled: Winds of Adventure

"Oho, so the hag was after some treasure that's too big for her undergarments," Patrice exclaimed suddenly. "Greed is a great motivating force, yes. To pursue one such as yourself for selfish gratification...it's disturbing," the girl huffed, thinking about how crude that woman had been. The thought of this treasure was rather exciting, to tell the truth, but there was plenty of treasure out there that didn't actually belong to anyone. Being a pirate meant putting some morals on hold, but what was the point of being a hypocrite and forcing the girl to lead them to the treasure?

"Would you like us to escort you back to the ocean? You'd probably be much safer amongst your people instead of scrambling about on land. We had a tumble with a few Tritans not too long ago...something about territory or something. Weather turned and--BOOM--here we are. It'll be a little bit before we get back off to sea, but the least we could do is take you there and guard you along the way." She paused. "Is that all right with you, Luca? Sending her off on her own will pretty much make all of our efforts so far in protecting her pointless," the girl explained with a grimace that made her face look rather silly.

Luca nodded almost immediately.

"It's no problem. Besides, that Angel might still be around..."

Though she doubted that she would give them trouble again, taking the mermaid with them wouldn't cause a problem. It would be safer for her anyway, she didn't look like she could fight anyway. Returning her rapier to her side, she nodded once more.

"It would be our pleasure to escort you to the ocean."

"No! I mean... I... I would like the help but... I... I can fight!"

Luca raised an eyebrow, not totally convinced that the girl could fight. Sure mermaids had magic, but could they actually hold themselves in a fight?

"Please... I want to... return the favor."

Luca's brow remained raised, but after a couple seconds she lowered it nodding slightly.

"O... okay."

Syrena joins the Party temporarily!

And so, with that decided, the small group made their way further into the forest, Luca explaining their need for materials. Having gotten a quick look at the Bakala's state, Luca had already made a mental list of what they could need to fix the damage. From what she could tell, the group would need to gather some sticky residue (most likely found from plants around the island), durable vines (to act as a frame), and some water absorbing wood found near the coast. Not to mention that the ship probably lost most of it's materials so getting some food and fresh water would be a good idea also.

But unfortunate for the group, the many plant species surrounding the island were either covered in bristles or waxy. They were to far in to go back to the coast and waste time, so they would just have to keep moving forward. They spent a couple hours walking around in what appeared to be circles before the sight of a strange life form. A bird like creature with membraneous wings and a yellow black pattern, fluttering about like mad as it went from plant to plant. It darted back and forth, the party deciding to follow closely behind.

Their choice was well rewarded with two strange plants at the end of the beebird's route, a sticky liquid running down the petals. But as the group got close the plants stood, shrieking, shaking their vines. It appeared they didn't like having intruders nearby.
