Lightning put her blade away, walking over to the knocked out Trace. Kicking him roughly, she got into the chariot. She didn't wish to wait for whatever tests the angels had in store for them. Looking at the knocked out man once more, she huffed slightly.

"Wake up already."

"Ugh..."

Trace moved slightly, getting up slowly. He limped over to the Chariot, reaching for the reigns. He was in little to no shape to be driving it much less fighting. But he pushed on anyway, reaching for a couple bandages he quickly patched himself up and pulled on the reigns.

"Lets... g... go..."

Thus, the group proceeded up the staircase. It seemed to be neverending. The clouds looked all the same, and they were eternally surrounded by the blue hue of the sky. At last, when things seemed truly hopeless, they encountered someone else, but it wasn't a union to be particularly happy about.

"Laggard fools," an authoritative voice spoke. "So, you arrive at last." It was another angel standing ahead of them, higher up on the staircase. From their vantage point, the group could see a large white building, square in shape with a dome on top. Magnificent columns seemed to line the walkway to the building. It was obvious that it would be the end of the line at last, but...

"You're our final test?" Alyssia asked abruptly drawing her sword. "Then let us be done with this." Her eyes were fierce, but also held a taint of malice.

The angel took out a long spear and a shield before whistling sharply, two more angels joining him. "Haste makes waste, dear. If you want your demise to approach quickly, then we shall make it so. To arms!"

Lightning grabbed her blade once more, the second the angel said 'demise'. She was not going to fall here, and she sure as hell wasn't going to fall to some cocky angel. Beginning to shift to another form, she prepared to tear these angels in two.

Trace starts at I4!

"If you decided your own fate, we wouldn't have ended up in Hell."

Trace was seemingly back at full strength, taking the reigns with one hand and his weapon in the other. In truth, he still ached from the previous battle, not to mention Lightning's cold roughness with his passing out. But he didn't care, he had to help the others no matter what.

Alyssia shouted angrily and slammed her open palm onto the stairway, a black glyph flickering to life which brought forth dark flames from which her faithful guardian emerged, ready to do battle. She patted one of his front legs; that archangel from before had given him a dreadful taste of disgusting medicine. "Get your revenge, boy," Alyssia stated calmly.

Cerberus moves to F2.

The large demonic dog lumbered forth after being conjured once again. There were so many angels they had to do battle with. He was beginning to harbor a respect for their strength and persistence, but as long as they stood in the way, they would be consumed by the flames of Hell. Each mouth opened and released a dark fireball that soared through the air and slammed into one of the archangels.

A blue aura surrounded Lightning as she dashed forward. She wasn't quite in range yet, but she figured that would be fixed soon. Staring down the one in the middle she pointed her blade at him.

Trace snapped on the reigns, riding past the angel captain twice, each time throwing a small capsule at it. The capsules harmlessly bounced off until finally, they exploded in a web of rust colored fibers that wrapped around the foe and tightly constricted his arms.

With a burst of light, the nets that the principality were tangled up in disintegrated into a light dust that got carried away by the wind. He took a few steps forward, glaring at the guy with the chariot. "What on earth makes you think that a third tier angel such as myself would let a silly NET keep me down?!" he shouted as he took his spear and swiped it across Trace's chest, the blade cutting not only his body, but his soul as well.

Flying as fast as she could, Alyssia landed right next to the principality. "Such mighty words. So you can't be stopped, but I'm fairly certain I can make you bleed," she said sweetly, making her words that much more threatening when accompanying her deadly gaze. She wasn't too thrilled with her allies being stopped in their tracks. She quickly drew a glyph in the air and a mass of crimson liquid surged from under the staircase, coating her blade.

"The blood of the damned calls to you from the abyss," she snarled as she lashed out at the angel with four vicious strikes, staining his clean garments with blood and placing several tears in them. It was an accurate statement to say that they were ruined.

As the magic hit her, Lightning tried to speak, but she was unable. As she was also unable to move, she considered it a success for the enemy. She was stopped in time, and there was nothing she could do to stop that.

Anger. Pure and utter rage. That was all Trace felt as the blade left his chest. He didn't care about the pain, he didn't care about the blood. Olivier clutched his burning wounds and hovered back, dropping his spear and shield. He didn't make it too far back before falling to one knee. "Damn...DAMN YOU, DIVINER!!!" the principality shouted into the sky angrily before glaring at the berserk chariot racer. "I'm as good as gone. Get rid of them. Prove her wrong...she doesn't deserve the satisfaction...," Olivier said as he pointed at Trace, running his finger listlessly through the air, but what no one realized that the consequences of Trace's berserk state increased in severity.

"Stop being so overly dramatic, Olivier. You knew this was coming a mile away," Chordata shot as his higher-up while sidling next to Alyssia, slashing her with his saber. The one they call the Diviner was able to foretell this event, and prophecies must be fulfilled," he explained, seemingly not caring if he were counterattacked or not.

She grimaced at the unsightly foe before her. He had definitely underestimated them; she could see it on his frightened and angry face. "I'd let you live now to prove that point, but if it's kill or be killed...," she continued before her voice trailed off and she raised her blade. It sliced through the principality with ease, but failed to end him completely. "Then we have no choice. I'm sure a conversation with this Diviner will be rather interesting." She looked over at Trace who probably couldn't understand what was going on at all, and Lightning was frozen in time. She shook her head sadly and waited.

Alyssia was just as enraged as Trace was now at seeing her pet fall at the hands of the merciless angel. "Amazing how the humans on earth can call you beneficent beings when you have NO HEARTS!!" she yelled and flew upwards, diving down and lunging into the archangel, running her blade right into his gut and ripping it out. "I want to send you to Hell so badly right now; you'd better be glad I have more of a heart than you do right now, you sorry ass," she snarled and landed firmly on the ground, blade at the ready. She dearly cared for Cerberus, but she knew he'd be all right. He would return to the shadows as he always did and recover with the power of hellfire.

The magic had faded enough for her fingertips to wiggle enough. Her joints felt sore and she knew it had been from being stuck in whatever warped magic the angels possessed. But no longer would she remain after a few moments. She would have her movement back soon!

The anger was beginning to fade, but not enough that he couldn't continue to lash out at the opposition. Angrily swinging his axe around, the dulling blade at the end made two cuts on the holy being. More blood spilling than what his allies had been doing... unfortunate that this was the end of his malice. He fled after regaining his sense.

"So that's how it is, huh? Jealous that your creator WANTED me to turn traitor to Hell--that he favored me over anything else, is that it?" Alyssia scoffed and counterattacked with a slash from her own blade. "I held a vital position and still hold an immense power over the Gates of Hell, and you need to realize that me reaching Amoria will be the best thing to happen to Torcrea's cause, so lay down your petty thoughts! It's very unbecoming of a warrior of our Lord." With this, she smirked. She noticed both Lightning and Trace were free of the plagues the angels had unleashed on them and now the remaining angels were outnumbered and in poor condition.

The magic had worn off completely by this point, Lightning's eyes sharpening on the nearest angel. She bit her lip as if attempting to fight back whatever inner anger she had pent up during that time. But it soon broke free, her eyes sharpening further and her gunblade retracting for a moment. She pulled the trigger and a bullet flew forward lodging itself in the holy being's chest. Looking over to Trace, her eyes sharpened on him now, the same anger flowing through to even her allies.

"Make yourself useful!"

The angel followed after and struck him, thus putting himself in the worst situation. A quick counter strike performed by the soldier causing the angel to pause in pain. When she turned to him, her words held the same malice as that which was used to inflict the Angel's wound. Make himself useful! Without hesitation, out of fear, he quickly struck the angel once and followed up with a large sweep.

Chordata tried to dodge the blow, but the little hellion's blade scathed his side, tearing into his robe. He sighed as he stepped to the side and then rushed back in with a horizontal slash from his saber. "Angels have no need of jealousy; envy is for sinners like you and all the other damned souls who couldn't be happy with what they had!" he yelled angrily. "I'm content to serve under Torcrea. I might not be happy with the Diviner's stupid prophecy and sending me to my supposed death, but if that's what it takes, then so be it! I'm still not giving up without a fight!"

Count your lucky stars you'll be dust on the wind instead of ash in the Eternal Fire," she stated simply and lashed out at the angel with her blade again. It was true. What kind of warriors were fighting for Torcrea? She had thought they were taught to be virtuous yet fierce at the same time. It seemed no one could be perfect except the gods themselves, and even THEY had their flaws--ones that just could not be quelled or hidden.

Lightning dashed forward at that moment, her blade returning to its normal splendor. As she reached striking distance, electricity appeared at her fingertips. It danced down along the blade, soon surging with sparks; she made a quick strike that only seemed to grow more powerful as her allies also attacked.

Damn, this fool just will not give up, Alyssia thought in frustration. They seemed to be wearing him down, but she was starting to feel the effects of his blade, the wounds starting to burn now, though she was used to such a sensation. It would be all right for the moment. She lashed back in retaliation with her sword once more, preparing for what to say. "I don't think I'm favored; I know I'm favored," she taunted, drawing out the word 'know' to put extreme emphasis on it. If that didn't piss him off, he had the patience of a saint, but sure as hell was no saint. And to think about it, he wasn't really patient either. He already broke off into a rage earlier on. Angel school needs a new principal.

The sound of the angel's saber hitting the marble staircase echoed through the vast space. And he laughed. "I am far from the perfect archangel," he said, a bit bitterly, but overall, the anger he possessed just a few moments ago had dissipated. "I'd like to think I gave it my best shot, but prophecies are prophecies." He took a moment and pointed up the staircase to where the large white building rested upon the white platform. "She'll be waiting for you up there. The Diviner, that is. I frankly don't care for her; there's something off about her. Be careful when you arive. I'm sure she'll want to test you...personally." He explained all of this and sighed. "Finish me off, please. I have to say, you guys did give it your all. Nice fight."

Alyssia was a bit surprised when the angel dropped his weapon, but she wasn't about to relent now. "Same to you...," she said, unsure of how to feel in this instant. She raised her blade and slashed the angel directly across the torso. Why had he given up? Surely he could have done something more? Preaching about giving it his all...then again, he was outnumbered. Turns out angels aren't that different from humans, after all. They know when plain hopeless is hopeless, she thought and looked up at the building. The Diviner. From the sounds of it, she was quite a character. "Let's not linger. Someone's waiting for us."

With the final archangel becoming nothing but golden dust upon the breeze flowing listlessly out through the air, the way to the white building at the top of the flight of stairs was now open. Alyssia and her allies trundled up the remainder of them, and when they were finally firmly standing upon the white platform that the building was resting on, the stairs vanished behind them. They couldn't see past the building, but for all they knew, they were standing on some platform in the middle of the sky. What would happen if one were to fall? They didn't give that thought any mind and walked down the small lane that led to the entrance of the building, lined with large white stone columns.

Upon reaching the entrance, they realized there were no doors. Just what seemed to be black space inside the building. "Hello?!" Alyssia called out loudly. Her voice echoed throughout the area. She received no response. With that, she entered the building and gestured for the other two to follow her. The trio walked for what seemed like several minutes through nothing but an expanse of black. Behind them, the light that was coming in from the outside grew smaller and smaller, even though it didn't seem like they were making any progress. Eventually they came to a stop. They were completely surrounded by darkness. That's when a resounding clap echoed throughout the space and the darkness lifted from the area like a veil. They were in a large room with a white stone floor, walls, and of course, the dome at the top acting as the ceiling. Behind them was the rectangular entrance. The light clearly shone inwards from the outside. The room itself was lit by a myriad of floating candles littering the periphery of the area and also hovering high up in the air.

"And so you have made it to the final test, just as I predicted," came a voice from the center of the room which also happened to be the source of the clap. A woman was sitting there, cross-legged, wearing a long white robe as pure as snow, and fiddling with a strange glass shard. Her feet were bare, but just as clean as her robe. Her skin was pale white and her eyes were an astonishing gold in color. Her long brown hair flowed like a river down her back and elegantly poured forth over her shoulders, lingering all the way down to her bosom. She arose, and looked from one visitor to the next, her gaze falling upon Lightning last.

"I control my fate, now, was it?" the woman said and laughed, the sound of her voice echoing off the walls greatly. "I won't disagree with you, but I've seen what is to come of you and your so-called fate," she spoke whimsically and condescendingly. "And it is not pretty, I can assure you." She bowed her head slightly. "The Diviner. At your service."

"Your future isn't written in stone."

Lightning took a few steps toward the Diviner, her eyes having sharpened since the woman came into view. Having known that there would eventually be conflict, she had no problem getting it over with. No point walking on eggshells to avoid the inevitable. This woman wanted to test him, her outlook most likely being that they would fail. That is where this so called 'Diviner' would be wrong; there was nothing changing that outcome.

"We control our future; Good or bad. Not you."

Trace, on the other hand, said nothing, hands tightly clenched around the reigns. The other angels had said something of her testing them right? So would they just fight her already, or did she wish to play with his companion's emotions first? Either way he didn't like the sound of it, not one bit.

The Diviner shook her head, seemingly disappointed. "So brash. You expect to carve out your own future with such an attitude?" she questioned nonchalantly, holding out one arm to one side of her. In a flash and crackle of lightning, an elegant spear appeared, and she grabbed the sleek, ebony shaft tightly. At the end was the spearhead, made of some illustrious metal, forked into three prongs, almost like a trident. The middle prong was the longest, and its end was shaped like a true arrowhead, while the other two prongs were just pointed, almost as if someone sharpened the prongs of a fork and stuck them on the spear.

"You don't seem to understand that it takes attitude to make it through life and if you don't have it, you're not making it. You'll be a slave to whoever tries and tells you otherwise," Alyssia retorted, taking out her blade. She rememberd the fierce determination she had when she finally turned true traitor to Hell by letting the two souls she now stood with escape. In any other case, if she were not strong enough, she'd still be in Hell, tortured for an eternity unless Torcrea so deigned to send someone after her, but by then, there would be a new gatekeeper--one of whom he would most likely try and get to aid him, leaving her to her demise.

"Of course, of course. Besides, you forget that I said I agree with you. I don't set futures in stone; I merely see them. But none of my premonitions have been false, hence why Torcrea named me his oracle and made my word prophecy, which is as good as a law in Amoria," she explained. "But if you so wish to fight against what I have seen, then so be it."

Lightning took a step back to join her allies, pulling the gunblade from her holster. Pointing it directly at the Diviner, she was prepared to finish this test and prove the woman wrong. Her supposedly 'perfect premonitions' were going to fail her this time. She didn't know who or what she was dealing with.

Trace pulled up next to Alyssia, grabbing his weapon from the small rack he was supplied with. He seemed to be out of his element, despite being perfectly ready for the coming battle. Mostly because he was inside this room. He wasn't meant to ride and fight indoors, it was out of his usual element. Hell or the staircase to heaven was fine, but in this building... just no.

"As if there were even a chance of this not happening," Alyssia scoffed dejectedly, slashing the air with a fluorish. In front of her, a glowing red seal appeared on the ground that broke as soon as it had deigned to show it self. A mass of flames and shadows arose from the seal and Cerberus stepped through the opening, a mighty roar escaping all three heads as the flames and darkness sank into the portal and vanished. "All right, boy. This particular character needs to be knocked off her pedestal. You know what to do," she directed her pet calmly, eyes glaring at the Diviner like a predator.

The mighty guardian of Hell did not wait a single second. There were no discretions in his master's orders.
